  1. Hi Stephen

You r most welcome. Be the only torn among all the beautiful roses .

Start training yoursel by threading a needle and sewing a simple button .. in two week time , u will be able to sew the little tote bag.

  4. Hi Karen
Thanks 4 ur advice but I am not making any progress at the moment. For every 3 stitches that I made I at least drop the needle 5 times. I started practicing on the button and got pricked several times, so much so that now my finger got more holes than the button.
I have yet to know how its like to be a torn among all the beautiful roses, but I definitely know how its like to be pricked by a needle.
    Cheers. Stephen

  5. Stephen

No Pain No Gain .. so is ok getting those tiny holes on your fingers and at the end u learn something (hahaha)

U still have more than 2 week to practice sewing those button and not your fingers..

Don worry about sewing the right way cos I always do all the crazy stitches (u will u/stand after this lesson(.

  6. Hi Wee Chin #10

    C U soon

  7. Stephen-L, if you want bigger pain, go Spain and spray the bulls with red paint then get chased till you go insane, finally fall and faint in a drain……

Seriously, you being the only guy – and a handsome one for that – will certainly have a lot in an all-girls class. Even if karen-T doesnt make you the monitor, there’ll still be much to monitor. Trust me.

    Sheeeeehe…………

  8. Hi Karen
Thanks 4 ur encouragement.I will continue to practice.
    Tim Liu No. 13
U r also welcome 2 join the class, don’t be a sour grape.Fyi I’ve been 2 Madrid(Spain)2 watch the bull fight(available only on sat/sun)but unfortunately no one(except the matador)is allowed to go into the bull ring.
Frankly I don’t think its a good idea 2 do any of your so-called “monitoring” at the expense of getting more potholes on my fingers.I prefer to follow Karen’s guidance.
Anyway. Tim its fun having u on a friendly dialogue.

  9. Stepheh-L, you very the no good leh telling people that I am a sour grape when you and you yrslf know it enough oredi mah.

Enter the pit as a matador? Want to dong dong chiang faster or what? No matador at our age lah. Can consider be an Amat opening doors, and get some tips than getting flipped and breaking hips by raging bulls.

Jokes aside, do hv a good time with the gals. Karen-T is a patient teacher with deft fingers but she suffers no nnnsense in her class so I’ll be a dull ah pek if I attend.

Wanna sign up with me when she next teaches us to milk cow and make papaya shakes.

  10. Tim

What Stephen said is right … SOur Grape , do come down and have some fun with the ladies if u want to and I make u the monitor since Stephen rejected my offer.

Stephen – Don worried la .. I will guide u till u complete the whole project and I make sure I take a clear photo so that u can show off to Tim – Ok ??

    karen Thio

  11. Stephen-L, you lucky man hor, Karen-T rarely comes out openly to sayang a guy but I think you deserve it.

Thanks Karen, I sow, dont sew.

Btw, can you or any teacher in SHC come out with a formula to solve this riddle?

I have a piece of cake. The maximum number of pieces from 1 cut of the cake is 2; from 2 cuts is 4, from 3 cuts is 7, from 4 cuts is 11…….

What is the formula to find the maxi number of pieces if I make X number of cuts?

School holidays are here and I have to study with my kid. No kidding that she has questions like this to answer.

  12. Tim

Waking up with a terrible headache after a nap and laughed so loud when I read your comment.

IS TRUE la .. I rarely comes out openly to sayang any guy , maybe the next one should be Tim Liu .

Stephen – why u keep making Tim soooo sour again ??

    Karen

  13. My Dear Timothy

Following may help to solve yr riddle:

Let Y be the max no. of pcs. & X be the no. of cuts.
    Y = X + previous Y

eg. what is the max no. of pcs. if we want 5 cuts (i.e. X)?
    Y = 5 + 11
    = 16

eg. what is the max no. of pcs. if we want 6 cuts
    Y = 6 + 16
    = 22

Think we have to work on each cut progressively to arrive at the max. no.of pcs. Hope this makes sense.

  14. Karen – With your full support I hope to make some progress even I might feeble along the way.I don’t know much about fruits but once I heard someone said’if u leave a sour grape on the shelf,it will either becomes more sour or gets rotten’
Tim- From my observation,u appears 2 b a learned gentlemen. If u read more cafefully u will notice that I did not said u are a sour grape.I merely asked u NOT to be one.
Btw I happened to know an old lady who lives in Kranji who is an expert in milking cow n make papaya shake. Are u interested?
On a more positive note since Karen have invited u, why not u come down to SPH on sat(2.4.11) n we all can have coffee after the class.

  15. Hi Lydia #19,

I have also been thinking how I can work a forumula to help with Tim’s cake cutting exercise. I gave up last night. When I saw your formula, I realise you are indeed smart, mathematically. Gee, have you considered being Tim’s daughter’s tutor?

Look forward to seeing you and Tim on Pa-Ngan island.

    Terence Seah

  16. Honey, you’re not the typical ah Soh, your uncanny power of observation to come out with an answer shows. Thanks !

With kiddo now and she gave me a formula : n(n+1) divided by 2 then plus 1, with n signifying the number of cuts. No credit to her cos she got the answer from the top gal in her class.

Aiyah, Stephen-L, why labour on semantics?

Whether or not you called me a sour grape or sweet potato, yr intent remains the same. You wanted me to cry, right? And cry I will and am obliged to, in reciprocity of your banter with me.

Btw, I know that cow-woman. She is Kranji to you but she is kinky to me, and you know why she treats us so differently, right? You eat vinegar also no use – charm & aura are innate. 7-Eleven dont sell.

Kopi with me? Sure. At your place can? Call that K woman and get her to bring the cow too and then let them decide who, btwn us, they want for company. Heeeee……….

Terence, what my daugh wants isnt a tutor or a teddy bear but one who naturally looks like a bear without make-up. I have put up yr name to her and she asks me whether you can also do the somersault without dropping yr pants.

  17. Terence, you are so kind to say tt of me. As Tim said, it’s just an “uncanny power of observation” (thanks, Dear) or rather, observed there is a consistent trend in the ratios. Tim’s daughter is a chip of the old block, smart. A tutor like me is not going to add any value to her. I certainly look forward to meet you tmrw. Thanks a lot for putting the trip together.

  18. Tim – I’ve already said what I need to say and to prevent a friendly dialogue from developing into an undesirable heated issue, I have decided not to pursue any further.Ha ha ha…….

  19. Dear Karen

Will not be attending your class as I will not be in Sg.

Do keep the material for me and will pick up when I next visit.

    Take care,
