  1. Yew Kwong, I m
issed the last and don’t want to miss this but can know the distance we have to cycle from Penggarang? Assuming we are cycling right?

  2. Hi Yew Kwong,

Thanks for organising this. Please register me before the rooms get booked up.

Also if you want to recce, you can call me. I was there (in Desaru) last week, so can contribute a bit.

    Cheers

  3. Hi EOs,
Tentatively, please register me for this event.
One request: I dun mind sharing the room with another/others but please not sharing the SAME BED (again like the last trip unless the other is a sheila…. hahahaha!!)

  4. Ivan

You can have your own bed but you may still have to queue for the toilet. Remember the last time we had to wait long long for sh…..

We men love suffering. The girls are smart here, non of them register so far.

  5. could you tell me where is it? which part of malaysia? johore? do you join the tour agent or on our own? please let us know more as the last time we were not there, please tell us how fun is it? thanks

  6. Uhmmm…. 23 – 25 km??? How far is ECP cycling to Bedok Jetty hah? Just trying to gauge how long I have to tahan sitting on a small little triangular piece.

Or, – can I drive there to meet up with you guys? I can provide cold drinks along the way and can carry all your excess baggage in my trunk so you guys can cycle with the least weight on you. Deal?

Our SHC tough cookie, Janie Leong should be signing up shortly??

  7. Hi Lily,

In the previous trips, one or two of them have problem with the distance and half-way they took a cab and wait for us at the town (Sungei Rengit) together with their bicycles. If you really cannot make it, you might consider this alternative and help some of them with their excess baggage. :)

  8. TS #8,
hahaha!! ya! waiting for mid-night shi-shi and siesta sho-sho-rub-rub rite!!
    Anyway, I c tat u have a room ALL by yourself……
Hemhemhem ……, after u finished sho-sho-rub-rub in your toilet, can I use your toilet so tat I dun hv to wait and hold my Bxxxxxx for too long rite? How’s tat for easing the queue??

  9. Yew Kwong,

I want to go, my 2nd time to Pengarang….wondering how to bring my “barang barang” while cycling ;)

Oh ya my mountain trekking trip to Nepal, also in Sep but date not firm yet, so tentatively register me first. :)

    Ah Nee

  10. Hi Lily #11

The distance between ECP McDonald to CV is about 18km. It may be challenging but the fun is in cycling not driving.

You missed the 1st cycling trip to Pengerang, go and join this time round, enjoy the ride, the sand the sea and the sun.

    regards

  11. Hi YK, is it the same place which Rene is the EO?

I am afraid my slow will affect the others (as no practice). If it can be borne, count me in.

Lily, can I reserve a small space in your car. If yes, I don’t have to so worry, haha.

  12. Haha,

Thanks Steven @ #15 for the suggestion, but no thanks.
Thanks Douglas @ #20 for the encouragement, but no thanks.
Thanks Tailo YK @ #16 for assigning me a good GPS, but I think I know ‘who’.

Ok, Sockie & Andrew – reserve car space for you liao. Two other passengers cum co-drivers will be Dolly and Sam.

My car no more vacancy. Perhaps another good GPS want to come along??? Calling Molly Chua!!! …. you wanna come???

  13. ah lily jie ,# 22

cheong ah ….cheong ah…..sam huat huat huat

  14. Lily,Dolly, Sam, Sockie and Andrew.

Go to Telok Sengat just after the exit of the new Desaru Highway. Charles and I had a good and cheap lunch there last week.
Maybe it was because the boss lady ask me what business I am in and I told her I am an old man waiting to die.

AndrewY. You should be cycling all the way as you did before or else it will be one thing which you can never do again. You follow me, I follow Bira or Nor. That was how I made it last time.

  15. Hi YK,

Can include me tentatively. Will try to go and have to find my room mate first. Would appreciate if Lily will let me ‘tompang’ my barang-barang in her car.

    Thank you.

  16. GPS here for rental…all the way with full board.

    Andrew #21,
The previous trip with all wild & fun time we had was Ramunia Beach Resort, this time round Sepang Mahibuh is slightly nearby after passing the Army camp. Remember the swings and the deck chairs? The beach here is more scenic and the chalets are cleaner. Not to worry, no cars, my Pengg Merz….I mean personal chaffeured taxi will pick us up from the Jetty. We share share to the sea shore.

  17. Hi Bira
My trunk space taking all the guys’ stuff (Yew Kwong, Boon Liang, Tian Soo, Charles Chua, Steven Ng, Ivan Lim, Janie Leong) plus our 5 pax, already full liao. But ok lah, will try to squeeze yours in too. Already no space for ‘bei teh sor’ so cannot take any more request otherwise I’ll need to get a truck.!

    Guys
I hope all your barang barang not too bulky ok? Limit to 1 carry-on bag per person hor? Thanks for your understanding.

  18. Hi Lily #29,
Thanks for the offer to tom-pang our barang barang…
But I think there may be some co-ordination required to do this…
Bcos I think the starting/meeting points in Singapore for those going with their bikes and for those by car are at different jetties…
Hope that I am sar-lah bcos would like to offload my barang barang into your trunk too. :))

    Hi BL #28,
Oh! Yes, that’s great! I remember Sepang Mahibuh Resort now that you mentioned the swings, the (white) deck chairs and the beach-front too….
They also have nice wooden-type chalets to accommodate 4 to 8 pax per chalet if my memories serve me well…

  19. Andrew
Best u cycle. Don’t worry about being slow. We have plenty of time on hand.

    Hi All
The last time I saw many heavy luggages. Hope not this time. We are not going for war. Please travel light. I’m sure u know what u should bring this time. I would lend a hand if n when needed.

  20. Oops! Missed out Daisy’s name (amongst the first 8).

Yes Ivan, will fine tune co-ordination nearer to date and hopefully can squeeze in more baggage. We can always meet one of the evening before departure for you guys to load your stuff into my trunk.

  21. Hi Lily,

Not to worry we don’t have much baggage. We are not going for a 3 weeks reservist training in Taiwan/Australia.

By the way since you are driving, you have an option of taking a ferry service – the ferrylink (Ferry Link (S) Pte Ltd
30 Changi Ferry Road, Singapore 499675 from Changi Ferry Terminal to the Tg. Belungkor Ferry Terminal.

  22. Hi Sifu,

Would like very much to join in the cycling but this time I have to go without my bike liao coz my leg cannot take long distance…need some time to get my stamina back.

Can I join u and the rest at the resort by cab at Jetty Sg. Rengit?

  23. I am actually quite afraid I will not be able to make it to the destination or will certainly be the last to be chaperoned to the end but now that Lily has included me, die die must try lah. Will need to have more practices at the East Coast Parkway liao.

One comfort though, at least I can now shout “kao meng ah!” to Lily or Janet to come to the rescue with their four-wheeler.

  24. Hi Yew Kwong,

Wow! it is that time of the year again; of painful and more painful buttocks. Yew Kwong, please slow down a little more and don’t let me, paddling & puffing too..o far behind.

    Thank you very much.

  25. Weiwei Lily, I dun tin we r going on d same route frm SG leh.. tio bo, Ah Huat? We will go by JB Causeway n they will go 2 Changi Ferry Point lor.. At most, we will meet at d half way b4 reaching chalet, si bo har, TaiLo…. Cheers.. Dolly

  26. Hi Dolly and Lily,

You are right. Don’t take the ferry to Tjg Belungkor. I think the scheduling and waiting time is quite annoying. Also the last ferry back is 4pm, and you can never be sure how many cars there will be. Either too much, resulting in a queue, and finding that there’s no vacancy when your turn comes. And Tjg Belungkor is quite ‘ulu’, there’s nothing there and quite a distance from the turn-off, which itself is quite a distance from the hotel.

My guess is we will be having lunch at Sg Renggit before cycling the short 6+kms to the hotel. So you can decide what time to meet.

Someone gave me a bicycle rack for a car. You might want to consider if that will be useful for those ‘punctured’ cyclists that day. But don’t make it too easy for them, make them sit on the roof of the car if they want a ride.

    Hi Daisy,

Last week’s cycling I think you covered the 20+kms already, so what is the problem on that day? Further you have the whole day to cover that distance. Just bring some sunblock.

  27. Hi EO,

Pls include James Tan & me in this trip.

I do not have a good bike. Can I rent bicycle at Changi Point & the cost?

appreciate if you could help me to check.

    thanks
    susan tan

  28. Hi Daisy#39

I heard you, lets us continue with more cycling practises. Will lookout and be there for you

    Hi Janet#35
I think you can cover that distance. This is not a race, its just a leisure ride to the hotel.
    Don’t give up cycling.

    Dave Tan#40
There will be a sweeper to lookout for you and all slow riders.Go and enjoy the ride.

Aiyooh Lily, you can always drive over another time with Dolly and gang

    regards

  29. ah lua ta tian soo # 26….

yes agree wif d new h/way just open & de seafood on de left side b4 reaching penggarrang lor…

    dolly ,

yes we will travel thru w/checkpoint & use de new highway ya….sam huat huat huat

  30. Susan Tan
Of course, u can rent bike from Changi Village. $20 for 2 days. In the event of puncture, it will cost u $10 to replace an inner tube.

  31. Really, Charles? More confidence liao….

Thank you, Douglas. Er… “there”? where? Practises or Pengarang but not Desaru of course? he he he……..

  32. Hi Yew Kwong/Boon Liang ,

Thanks for organising this exciting fun cycling tour. I would like to register too.
As before can you pls. help those without bicycles and would like to cycle to rent the bikes at the Pengarang side.

Remember, you call them and they came in a car to pick us up to their bike rental shop in Pengarang kampong for us to choose their rental bicycles at the Ramunia trip.

  33. Halo Buddy
Of course I know we take different route lah. In fact, we are going by a big loop before ending up where the cyclists are. And the same coming back. That’s why I was elated when StevenN said there is ferry service for cars which would cut the journey at least by half and avoiding the causeway jam. But when I plough thru the internet – it seems such service no longer exist. I tried calling them several times but I either get a busy tone or no one picks up the phone, or hangs up immediately after picking up……uhgrrrrrr.

    Douglas
I wish I could cycle like you guys too. But, I really really don’t have the confidence. Hence, my offer to carry your baggage – at least, make myself useful to the cycling team.

    Charles
I too have a bicycle rack (used to take my daughter to P.Ubin to cycle when she was much younger). But, what good is it when my car is already filled to the brim? Like in previous trip, ‘punctured’ cyclists can take a cab what.

From the internet, I gathered that the distance from SG to Pengarang is at least 65km. That is practically 3 times the distance of the cyclists!!….. Sigh, I hate long distance driving. Ah Huat, you drive and Dolly takes over when you need your 40 winks, ok? (Sorry buddy, sian chan hou chou……..hehe. For those not in the know, I actually did not discuss with Dolly and Sam before signing them up for this trip!)

Any of you keen on taking a drive up for recce anytime soon? Lunch on me. If yes, can we discuss by private email? Thanks.

  34. Lily #51 says: I wish I could cycle like you guys too. But, I really really don’t have the confidence…..

Hemhemmmm, how about we dangle a carton of virginia slims in front of you while you cycle as the ultimate reward/morale booster for “completing” the route there ….. moreover (like out Charles Chua said – YOU HAVE THE WHOLE DAY TO FINISH 23KM ONLY ma…)

As for the route back, we will reward you further ….. you can go back by car (kekekekekeee). How’s that for assurance!! So ON or not??

  35. Lily #51,

By the way, all the guys will be very happy to cycle behind you and Bira, Nor ……… and you know; especially TS will be excited and estaxxxxxxx

And Andrew Young will be the one riding in front of you; dangling the virginia slims ….. since he has pride (a guy’s thing) not to loose out to you in completing the race.

    Hahahahhaaha………

  36. Hi Janet at #35 / Daisy at #39,

I agree with Douglas. It’s a leisure trip only and it’s still three months away before the trip. Cycling is a relaxing activity and would not take you much energy compared to jogging/running. One of my leg (sore + knee) was injuried a few months ago during my regular jogging session. I switch to cycling for the last few months and it’s does not affect my injury.

I cycle daily early in the morning for about 90 minutes and I expect my injury to recover in the next few weeks before I prepare for the SAFRA half marathon in early Sept.

Make an effort to enjoy your cycling as you don’t know how long you can still engage in such activities. :)

  37. Hi Douglas:
Thanks for your encouragement in not giving up cycling…with some constant practice I am sure will get my legs back in condition.

    Hi Lily and buddies:
As I am taking a cab to the resort at Tg Pengilih Jetty, any extra baggages are welcome into the cab too.

  38. Hi Ivan

    @#52 – Tempting…….
    @#53 – Stressfull…..

Mmmmm…..still enough time to contemplate cycling……or take a cab like Janet. Will discuss with Dolly when she’s back.

  39. Weiwei, Lily,
Tempting or stressful, I still dun 1 2 cycle la.. go as per planned lor… Sam will definitely do all d driving lor.. tio bo? Ah Huat?

  40. Hi Ivan

@#53, thanks for introduce such a good job for me. But I think I prefer to stay in the car to talk with (or scold by) Lily than riding in front of her.

At first, I was a little bit worrying about Sam, and now, knowing he will do the driving, then I completely relax liao.

Waiting impatiently for the cocktail from you bartender.

  41. Yew Kwong, hello hello
I need a bike too, please. One which will go twice the normal distance with one push of the pedal and at the same cost as the rest.

Janet, thank you for the offer. I would like to chope one space for the onward journey and two spaces for the return.

ivan, ivan. You sure it’s virginia slims? I thought it’s salem.

PKNg, appreciate the encouragement. Would you know why my left knee hurts after cycling a fair distance? Could it be the muscles, can’t be the bones nor tendons right or do you think it’s the wearing out of the synovial fluid? Fortunately, it does recover though.

  42. Hi guys

This time we may not hv cocktail mix. Instead, we shall have Wu Jia Pi ???. Then we can see who’s going to dance w/o clothes at the beach.

    Hi Daisy

There is one n only type, the tandem bike. U navigate n the one sitting behind pedal.

Talking abt salem, I shall tell u its meaning when we next meet. Think the guys would know.

  43. # 58 dolly ah & lily jie ,

sub sub water lah….tio lah dolly i will do all de driving ..if nid my 40 winks den we all every1 do it ya..

ah TaiLor….have wat u call tandem bike…wah like dat wen in penggrarang see have or not for me & dolly aa sai bo ? cos i dun know how to ta kar la chia ( pedal biscycle lah ) aa sai bo har ?

  45. Hi Yew Kwong
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I can’t join this trip. Very sorry.

Hi Buddy, Sam, AndrewY, Sockie and all those whose barang barang suppose to longbang my car, kindly make your own arrangement. My apology.

  47. Hi Yew Kwong / Boon Liang,

    I am OK now. :)

I am looking forward to this cycling and accomodatn many months ago.

Pls.let us known the full payment by e- transfer for the accomodn of the chalet.

About 1 month more to go. Tan tan tan tan … rhythym of 5th. of Beethoven.

  48. Hi Yew Kwong and Boon Liang

This will be the 1st time I am taking part please register me in for the cycling trip if there is still vacancy.

    Thank you.

  49. Hi guys

My sncere apology. I would like to change the dates to 22 to 23 Oct. Will also get the cost out soon after the Sep school holidays are over. Please bear with me. Thanks.

  50. Alamak…. I’ve been waiting patiently for “The” day in September.

October is traditionally the north east monsoon period but maybe the monsoon has started already??? Can share why the change in dates or not?

  51. hi daisy i hv some personal matter 2 attend on sun. if i go ahead i cant find replacement eo to take over. perhaps u may assist to handle e groupfrom the time they leave the jetty for pengarang on sat. l will book n paydeposit for the chalet this fri. i believe we all.can count on u. thanks.

  52. Wow, Wow, Wow, Yew Kwong!

Your mind races and I’m slow in catching up just like my cycling. I’m bewildered, perplexed and feel extremely puzzled by your request to assist you. I might have considered though if you had approached and briefed me before you announced the change of dates. So now, it’s too late.

Anyone reading the post and #73 must have unanswered questions but yes, you’re big-hearted in EOing this event and I had appreciated it. No offence meant in a simple curiosity but certainly it does signal one to tread with care.

Take care now…… don’t let the mind play tricks.

  53. Daisy
Thanks. No worry. I actually thought I had caught a replacement EO. Sigh. Let us see the responses with the dates changed.

As to your question on monsoon, it wouldnt worry us. If one should swim, can swim n stay near to beach. Just remember never swim alone.

  54. Hi yew kwong,

Despite the change in dates to Oct 22 to 23, I am still looking forward to this cycling tour plus accmdn. I am happy that the cycling tour was NOT cancelled but postponed to a later date.

Pls. advise when I need to e trnsfer to u for both (i) bike rental and
    (ii) chalet accdmn.

Oct used to be a rainy monsoon season but nowadays with increasing global warming, the weather is topsy turvy. Very very unpredictable.

  55. Hi Yew Kwong,

Any news on the Pengarang trip? Many people were waiting to ask you about this trip on the last cycling day but you were not there.

    Can give an update?

    Thanks very much

  56. Hi Yew Kwong,

Today is already the 7th Oct. close to 22nd. Oct for cycling tour n accmdn .
Pls write down your e transfer bank account no.

We are looking 4 ward to this tour.

    Pls. update us . thanks

  57. Hi Tai Loh Yew Kong / Boon Liang,

Is the cycling on 22nd. October still ON or OFF ? Still no smoke.

If due to work commitments are you going to postpone it to another date ?

If so, pls. let us know. Coincidentally, the cycling event clashes with the Hokkien Karaoke on Oct 22. If not on, I too would like to join them as I love to listen to Hokkien songs for its melodious rhytyms but sadly do not know the meanings behind the song.

Can you please let us know your final decision ASAP ?
