  1. Hi Douglas

Thanks for putting up the post. Otherwise, I’m gonna kena scolding from CM again. This CM very chia-lak one leh!

Will be there with Dolly, Janie, AndrewY and John. I think CharlesC, TS and other would-be Pengarang cyclists should come for (ahem) practise and camaraderie.

    Cya :)

  2. Yes boss.
But hor, these cyclists that I’m suppose to lead, often end up leading me instead leh. I am always the last to arrive even when I cheat and be the first to U-turn lor.
Sure I will lead them lah……. but from behind hor.

  3. Hi Lily

The most important cyclist is the ‘last’ one, who is also known as the ‘sweeper’, the sweeper ensures that no one is left behind during a ride.

Your role as a sweeper is important :)

  4. Douglas,

The route from EC MacDonald to Bedok Reservoir via Siglap PCN is interesting, I want to try. Are we cycling back to MacDonald? How long is the distance…very far or not? :(

    Ah Nee

  5. Hi Ah Nee

The distance from McDonald to Bedok Reservoir (1way) is about 8km and yes, we have to cycle back in order to return the rental bikes. The distance is not far.

  6. Hi Veronique

Welcome back to long distance cycling, it has been months since you last joined us for the Eastern Coastal PCN ride. Looking forward to see you more in long distance cycling

  7. Hi Belinda

Come and join us in fellowship and decide later whether you want to cycle or not. Let us know if you are coming

This is a group of fun loving people

  8. Hi Peggy

Welcome to SHC and to cycling.

Most of us are leisure cyclists or Weekend Warriors. Our Weekend Warriors consist of beginners, leisure and the die hards.

We will be there for you if you cannot keep up with us

    regards

  9. Hi Douglas & Cycling EOs

Have to skip this month’s again, hiaz. If all’s well, hope to come back in September. Really missing cycling and the camaraderie…

  10. Hi Kum Hong

Thank you for your support, maybe another time.

    Hi Charles
Glad to cycle with you again. It will be a short ride for you since you are used to cycling to Changi Point.

    cheers

  13. What about a curry picnic after the cycling. We could do it in advance right? Anyone care to join? Do need someone to jagar the food while the rest are cycling though.

  14. Wow Daisy, curry is a hot topic at this moment and I love curry.yummy yummy…yummy yummy

  21. Yes, yes, a big thank you!

To Douglas for introducing us to this new route. It was an eye opener for me, and your’s as well as Charles’ caring leadership to ensure every one is safe and waited with me for the last to arrive.

To Daisy who took the trouble to prepare the yummy curry and to Eunice who so kindly ferry it to us.

To all the newbies, the regular supporters and gate crasher??. So nice to meet all of you. I truly enjoyed myself today.

Sorry for the 2 casualties :

    1) Lydia – despite the fall, you did not moan or groan but was as cheery as before. My respect.

    2) Patrick – despite not able to join us for the rest of the journey, you did not display any displeasure. I assure you, this is the first time we had such problem with the bicycle. Hope you will not be discouraged. Oh, must also commend on your sweet wife Veronica. Despite your mishap, she continued the journey with the rest of us.

Yesterday’s cycling brings back fond memories. So enjoyable, thanks to all the participants and “never give up” Douglas, Lily and Dolly.

Wow…we had a great feast and wonderful gathering after the cycling. Thanks to Daisy’s yummy curry & the “chiam tow loh tee”, and also Douglas’s 100 plus, so refreshing! This would not be possible if not for Audrey volunteering as a driver, thank you dear.

Sam huat huat huat, don’t envy us hor, come and join us lah. You “ho sim” look after the food, while we go cycling lor…later we can party party. You come …surely Carly will also come come….

  28. Hi Lydia

You were brave and managed to cycle back after the accident. We salute you for your resolve

Take care and have a speedy recovery

  29. Hey guys! It’s my pleasure to cook up the kroma curry for you but it must that you were all hungry after the ride that the kroma were yummy and yes, the pot went home empty. he he…

Audrey dear, thanks so much for your thoughtfulness in offering to pick me up from home despite the fact that we had never met at all. I really appreciate it and for the ride home too.

Sam Ah Ti, can pray in the morning and tak kalachia in the afternoon what, pin tua lah, bo tang chiak. ha ha ha…

  30. Hi Ah Nee@47

Noted on the desire to cycle to Marina Bay, but I think we may have to cycle on the road and not on PCN.

    Hi Ah Mai Carly

Thanks for providing some entertainments while we were enjoing Daisy’s chicken korma, don’t know whether you are singing and dancing or doing a war dance due to red ants crawling up your thighs :)

  31. You so no good one,Daisy.
    You bling curly to ECP.
    Also bling ‘loh ti’
Go with Lily, Ah Nee and Carly.
    But never call me.

    Solly arh, English so funny.
Not like Hokkien, only one ‘nee’.

This poem come with Kopi light.

    Ah Huat…tio bo?

  32. Douglas, thanks for leading the way on the new route. Nice…. but the next time we do this route again, must place wardens to clear the narrow paths especially in Bedok North and safety barriers on both sides of the paths too. Am still a novice lah, scared of narrow paths and slopes but I did it! A great workout indeed!

Lydia dear, I hope you are feeling better today. Till we meet again for our next “conquer”! he he he….

  33. Deat TS

You are really really funny. Like the rhyme.

    Dear Douglas

Hahaha! I think I am more like just “released” so sing and dance like no tomorrow. Its ok if the ants just crawl up to my thighs. If it was elsewhere, it would have been a different type of show ;0

    Xiao Di

Dun worry, next time you bo mia to go, I will cook something for makan then you jaga while we cycle.

    Carly

  34. Hi All,

Must also register my thanks to all for a great cycling trip. Douglas, Lily, Dolly, Ah Nee et al. Quite a good workout with very good chicken kurma from Daisy. Also good weather and very helpful and encouraging cyclists, especially Douglas, who was tireless in getting the group together, sweeping from the rear to the front.

Also to Patrick when his bicycle broke down. He was gracious to walk back with the bicycle without any complaints and even let his wife continue the ride. Good men are hard to find.

    Doug @ # 52,

The route to Marina starts from the ECP, ie away from the car traffic. Then you will have to cross the road at Fort Rd to get to Tanjong Rhu Rd, via the Singapore Swimming Club. But there are cycling paths there, albeit you have to share it with the pedestrians. It leads all the way to the bridge in Kallang. Cross it and you will be in Kallang Theatre, where there are many paths to Marina Bay, opposite the Oriental Hotel and Marina Centre. Or some may cycle to the carpark where MacDonald’s and KFC is. Car traffic is light and there are cycle paths, but they are not fully dedicated cycle paths. You have to share them with other pedestrians

Are there any members of Singapore Swimming Club here? Can use their cafe then for a break.

  35. Hi Douglas, Daisy and All SHCians at ECP yesterday, my apologies for not able to ride with you this time.

Did not log-in to SHC forum regularly, it’s good to hv rec’d a reminder on this event. thou my schedules for Saturday already fixed earlier, i thought i shld be able to squeeze in a couple of hours to join in the fun. But EO(s), sharing of my experience on falls and sweating it out under hot sun and rain, yes, am not quite that ‘experience cyclist’ yet…. still hv lots to learn lor….

Glad to see more and more folks taking up this activity, keep riding as long as you’re able to!

    Cheers,
    JoyceT

  36. Oh dear….. “conquest” it should be and not “conquer”.

Hi there Joyce, you’ve always been modest. Really nice of you to make an effort to come by despite having another event to attend. Hope it’ll not be too long before we meet again. In the meantime, take care.

  37. Hi Douglas,

Very nice pictures of the cycling event. So nice to see you and your team gathered such a big group. I was so tempted to put up some of the pictures showing the men and ladies eyeing the Korma curry. Finally, I put this picture up in the banner. Reflects very well the spirit of cycling. By the way, why is the sky so dark?

    Terence Seah

  38. Hi Boss

Thank you for your compliments and support.

The chicken korma was delicious, that is why we had to look deeper into the pot because we wanted more but boh liao.

Do not fear the dark sky or its 7th month, it should be dark because its night time :)

  39. Dear all,

I know I am slow and much have been said but I still want to say “Thank You for this enjoyable half day”. Cycling is getting more fun and I simply love it. Once again my appreciation to EOs and cycling buddies!

    Janie

  40. Hi Terence #62

Yeah nice photos with all the smiles………plus all those very encouraging posting, I’m definitely heading out for the cycling event some day!

Ouch!…..Lydia, bruises?? Hope u have a speedy recovery.

    cheers
