  2. Hi Frisna! Thank you for organizing this chalet get-together. Your generous offer of free boarding will be very quickly taken up …:p Not by me though..hehehe

As for food, whether it is potluck or BBQ, it is only fair to collect a nominal sum to those who are too busy to cook. The amount collected will be used to purchase drinks and fruits. In previous potlucks, there are members who offered to bring drinks and fruits (cheap and convenient way of contribution). I feel this is not fair to those who have to spend more and toil in their kitchen to come up with a cooked dish.

My two cents’ worth of suggestion is – Bring a cooked dish or pay $xx – regardless of whether you’re eating or not. Takeaway food bought from hawker centres are to cater for up to 10 pax and not just one packet *rolls eyes*

Frisna, I think potluck’s a good idea but then again, some might prefer BBQ. Thing is, if I am to veto for BBQ then I must be prepared to contribute a BBQ dish and ALSO be prepared to do some bbq-ing. I cannot tahan seeing people waiting for someone to do the sweaty part of bbq-ing and just seat back and eat!

Sorry for being so direct but when in a gathering like this, the creedo should be TEAMWORK. If you don’t agree I rest my case.

    Cheers
    Ros

  3. #1 aiyo Huat ah, because no working then it’s more for you and dolly to come “cho kang” lah. ok, i accept your resignation as co-eo but you must come with your tong cheng to wake ppl up when they’re too sleepy playing mj or banlak ya… (dont tell me u can’t even make it at midnight!)

#2 hi charles, noted. will see you for a short while then. do you play mahjong? (for those that come before 5pm, they can start with mj first)

#3 hi rosalind, tq for the comments and suggestions. that’s why i said i need to do the logistics. because if more ppl want bbq then i need some helpers (who dont play banlak/mj) to help taking care of the fire etc…. so r u coming?

  4. Sorry I forgot to mention…after being so ‘chiong hay’ I omitted to let you know if I’ll be there. The answer is ‘YES!’

I’ll be at the chalet before 5 pm and join in the mahjong session…it has been eons since I last played so if the kakis don’t mind a novice, I’ll see how it goes..:)

For food, I’ll cook ‘kong bak bee hoon’….see how it goes also…

    Cheers
    Ros

Hope to meet some ‘long time no see’ friends like Bira there.

  10. Hi Norlinda + Frisna,

You can download an app at hxxps://market.android.com/details?id=org.wordpress.android (plse replace the ‘xx’ with ‘tt’ and you MAY be able to see it without any blocking from any plugin/program.

If you still have problem, get the boss to download a mobile optimisation plugin from wordpress.org BUT he will have to upgrade the blog to the latest version before the plugin can work.

  11. Frisna, I hope this gathering is not a CNY gathering as I cannot celebrate CNY this year due to my mum’s recent passing.

  33. Hi Frisna,

I was at the Home Team chalet – Pasir Ris Park last night for a LNY gathering of our Secondary School Mates plus our children n grand-children.

There are about 20 units of chalets there in the compound area.
Have browsed through your postings but did not find the UNIT NUMBER stated anywhere in your event details.

Can you please advise the Unit Number of the Chalet that you had booked? This will be helpful so that the folks need not go visiting each chalet unit in search of lost SHCians….. :)))

Sorry, wont be able to join you due to some rush work. I appreciate your taking time and effort to organise this event for fellow members. Have fun everybody.

    Terence Seah

  45. Dear Frisna,

Thanks so much for organising this gathering..
I must say it is really a fruitful one..with the warmth and camaraderie ..and the nice atmosphere.

Good thing we proceeded with the BBQ too after we establish no rain..although earlier forcasted to rain.

Thanks indeed to your hubby who is indeed a good Chief Chef, not a Cheap Chef as he says…Thanks to Dan who I can see also helped a lot..

Thanks also to Susan CH Tan for sweeping and mopping and really making the place so nice to walk in with our bare foot…Thanks to SK & Harvey for patiently helping to start the BBQ Fire..

Food was plentiful, atmosphere cordial and nice…

Great to meet nice people and to banter and gamble in a small way…

Kudos to you and your group of helpers…
    Cheers…. and thanks again..

    regards
    Pat

Besides Susan CH, SK, Harvey, Perry I’d like to say my BIG thank you to Liliam Teo – without her, chief alias cheap (no need to pay mah ha ha) chef’s spagetti, au naturel soup might not be done as fast and as delicious!

I’d also like to thank my other assistant Mr. Thomas Loh. although he arrived rather late (bringing a fairy Peri) but he was offering food around, preparing drink to make sure everybody has their fair shares.
He also brought many boxer prawn quietly without charging any $$$ (same thanks go to audrey wong by bringing expensive “cheese prawn” yet still pay BBQ contribution)

Another assistant Dan Huang also need big claps for making mahjong players feel comfortable and enough chairs.

For those that brought food and help cleaning up at the end of the night, thanks so much!

  51. Hi Frisna / Patrick,

Pei Seh, so so slow in responding to all of you.

This event was very successful because all those attended are fantastic people, so willing to contribute in all ways. I really felt great and enjoyed it very much.

A big thumb-up for everyone who came for this event, and thks Frisna, Thomas – our Co EO for initiating this programme, and Peter Tan, the man behind our dear Frisna,
Thks, & HAPPY VALENTINE DAY to all SHCs.

    Cheers, take care,
    Lilian

  52. Iyo-yo me also pai-seh, CNY over lo and I’m still chit chatting here. Lilian, when you were so busy in the kitchen with the delicious hot pot of chicken and hai-sim (sea cucumber) thick broth and all the mushrooms and fishballs swimming on top, wah-sei I was drooling at what was right before my eyes. I said “wah, you did this?” but no, you said it was Peter, who must the luckiest man in the kitchen and I could see that he was pleased as Punch, smilingly widely, with you there strongly supporting him without any word – just do, do and do! But it’s such a cheer that day, hor, like football team, you know – we support each other everywhere lor – your small group in the kitchen, me in the Hall and Susan SW/Harvey outside doing the BBQ. Frisna the Captain did all the chapalang (odd ‘n’ ends). Thanks Frisna for your generosity and hospitality I enjoyed myself, pleased that I can do something useful there. Iyo some people said wah I can sweep so much, so can they invite me to their house to sweep?…………. hello, hello. hehhhehheheh, never mind, next time got another event like this, I’ll gladly do it all over again. Patrick Oei, thanks for your gu-li gu-li (motivation) that’s why I said I can do all over again mah. See, see, the magic of motivation :) Thanks to Rosalind, the ter-kah bee hoon specialist who doubled up and my assistant sweeper in the front porch also, and to Doreen, who was quietly cleaning all the corners in the kitchen and coffee table so whole kitchen looked pretty LOL!
