  1. Well Roland, what shall I say. It was disbanded as the mild natured KK said enough is enough! Some people took him for granted and insisting in their ways. Some prefer to choose to play with only strong players and some are so shallow that they walk out of the badminton hall leaving the few to sweat it out on two courts with only six players.

I do not wish to see such happenings here. Those who prefer to play with stronger players is fine but not at the expense of the weaker players. We are here to enjoy and sweat it out and support each others. Those who insist on having their ways is not welcome, go and fine a group that you can fit in.

Dun be afraid if you are new and learning, we just want to take it easy and hit the shuttlecorks and letting off steam!

  2. Hi folks, if you want to keep up your health; besides visiting your doctor and eating good diet, I suggest you exercise one more time if you are a badminton player, come and join the group on thursday (probably changing to friday) morning with James and Inez/group at Bukit Gombak Sports Stadium 10am.
Never mind if you are a beginner or a regular, we have your kind of player and standard. More kaki needed.
Thanks Dan, for letting me butt in. Bless you.

  3. you can’t keep a group going if you think that organizing a game is just about hitting the ball across

The group here that I joined have been around for years and we pair players well…almost like auto; no need to tell each other and it keeps all happy

just to share my thought, no offence

  4. Hi all.. please come and join us at Bt Gombak stadium next Thursday 19th April at 10am and see for yourself if you like the group. The skills level varies. Because it is in the daytime, coming a little earlier and ending a little later is the norm.. I think we just want to sweat it out and it costs only $2.50 booking fees per hr for those >60 years during the off-peak hours. Just get off at Bt Gombak MRT station. We may change the timing to Friday if everyone is agreeable. Thanks Feztus for starting the “recruitment drive” for more kakis.

  5. Hi Dan
Is there a possibility of having a regular badminton game on a weekday at SCSC? Either late morning or mid-afternoon. If there’s weekday badminton at one of those time slots, i shall move ‘mountains’ to join in!…….lol!

Am a weak player hoping to improve skills and stamina with regular playing. :)

  6. Badminton coming Sunday April 22, 2012 at Henderson CC, 500 Bukit Merah View from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Court 1.

The time frame may seems odd but some will have no excuse to skip church. Physical health is good but spiritual health is for life everlasting!

Well today was a no-show as most feel that it is too early. I got no choice but to run round and round the hall. At least I still got all sweaty.

Christina, we envy you that your group have no issues to worry but here we are talking about Silverhairs’s member who are suppose to grow old graciously.

Fextus, Inez, one of these fine day we should merge and that is provided we compromise on a weekend rather than a weekday as some are still working.

Jassmine, is on a weekend fine with you?

    Dan

  7. Hi Jassmine #6,
Would you be able to join us this Thursday? (timing/location at #5, HDB coupon parking available) Is there something special about SCSC badminton courts that makes it different from the courts at other places?

  8. Hi Dan
The badminton u used to have on Sun at SCSC clashed with my personal commitment though i was interested to join. Anyway generally, i have more time for recreation on weekdays than on weekends.

    Hi Inez #8
*”My heart leaps up when i behold” ‘Weekend badminton’ (your post). lol! :) Alas! B Gombak is just too far away for me to go. On the other hand, SCSC is about 15min away by train from my place.

  9. Re. #9 response to Inez: Should read “weekday badminton” instead of “weekend badminton. Apologies.

  10. Dan and others,
    1. Good idea when there are 2 times a week; once is really too little to make any difference to your health and progress. so have one on weekend and another on weekday. You can firm up your weekend and keep it going. Some of us are already playing with a group on weekend and/or family or church activities.
    2. We need to have a weekday for the rest, especially those who wishes to kickstart their playing again. weekday which James and Inez are arranging, is cheaper and with one senior citizen member, we can get it for $2.50 per hour at sports stadium, this helps when we are encouraging new players to have more time for practice and warming up etc., of course with more playing, cost is not a issue.
    3. Whatever club that is being mentioned is good especially when we need to shower if it is a more than one hour game; so that we can smell and look ok especially if we are going on to another appointment from there. So that can be a good idea BUT it will be good if you can get it regularly at a fixed time, preferably not something that one week off and another week on and then change timing etc..
At the moment it seems to be a east and west group, which is fine. We can slowly have a central location where all can play once in a while but not at the expense of those who will back out of regular playing because of distance.

  11. Jassmine, Roland,

CSC at Tessensohn Rd is ideal but we need to have member who can book. Right now we dun have anyone.

I normally log in to the Sport Council to book but most time it is fully booked up to 2 weeks in advance. Next, I try to book from Safra website, need to log in early otherwise all the courts taken up. Finally, I will log in to the CC to try to book.

    Dan

  12. Hi Dan #13
I can do the booking if there’s no one free to do it if game is on a weekday.I can also book a court at Braddell Hts CC but this place may be ‘Timbuktu’ to most ppl!
    LOL!

  13. Hi Jassmine,

Appreciate your offer to book at CSC or other venues, do let us know a suitable date for you and we shall response. Braddell Hght CC also can but on which date?

    Weng Hon,

    Noted your preferences.

    Dan

  14. Hi Dan #16

My preferred day is either Tues or Thurs mid afternoon. I’ll visit BH CC next week and find out more abt booking their facilities.

  15. Hi Dan,

I love to join too, only worry is my knees are not supporting me well so may be slow. As I live in the east, so hopefully the courts can be more centralised. Weekdays evenings and weekends gives me more opportunity to join.

    Thanks for organising.

  16. Hi,Dan,
Will love to get some exercise, few doubt that need your clarificaation to this non-active member.
Do we bring our own racket?
    Any other day/time & avenue ?
I stay in the East, how abt a place in the central ?
By the way, any member play Squash?

    cheers,kate

  17. Hi Dorine,

Noted your preference for the venue.

    Hi Kate,

Yes, try to bring your own racket otherwise I do have a spare. I will try to book in a central location the next round.

Right now I am tapping into the Sport Council failing it will Safra and finally the CC.

Left my squash racket somewhere, no too hectic for me.

    Dan

  18. Hi Kate Soh @ #19,

An opportunity for me to resume an activity that I miss – squash. Let’s get together to make the arrangement; perhaps other members may be interested too. My email yst27@hotmail.com

    Thanks, Kate :-)
