Monthly walk: Coastal Changi, our very own!

Due to unforseen circumstances, we are not going to Bukit Batok Nature Reserve, the walk route has been

changed!

***** The route is not Changi Village or Changi Point!   We go the opposite direction *****

Flat Roads, Shady Trees and Planes……… we shall tread and view!

Date                          :      Saturday,  10th November, 2012

Time                          :       4.15pm  "sharp"    (2.5 to 3hours)

Meet/Start Place       :    Tampines Bus Interchange, BERTH 9, we shall board Bus Service# 19, together.

Getting There            :    Nearest MRT: Tampines MRT (EW2)

Makan place              :
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal "TMFT"- has a small cafe which serves simple fare**  which  are quite good.
Cafe must be informed earlier as they might not have enough food to feed us after 6pm.

End of walk                :    Tanah Merah MRT, EW 4.  (vicinity no makan place)

EOs         :    Christina CL Chan & KC Lau.

Pause, pause……a moment, please…..  Let’s enjoy some sea breeze and excellent views out to the sea!  emoticon

We will walk along the coast / beach / shoreline  where it is nice and breezy.  The terrain is consistently

flat
with paved pathways most of the way.  Trees provides some shade from the sun, thus, cooling in certain

areas.

We might have quite a view of aeroplanes that are taking off or landing at the nearby runway which is
almost parallel to our route.

If Weather, Tide & Time permits, we might bring you closer to the shoreline, where you can walk on a
secluded part of a white, sandy beach and perhaps walk on water to have fun with incoming waves, too.

So bring a towel.

We shall have a cool, refreshing drink as well as dinner at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal’s cafe.
It serves simple hot meals — fried noodles/hokkein mee/rice, zi char style.  Their chicken rice is relatively
good but might be cold then at that late hour.

Walk Team EOs, namely: Charles Wee, Jeffrey Lim, Mary Tan, Joyce Tan, Veronica Wong, Conrad Tang,  Lydia
Soh,  Alice Seah, KC Lau and me, ChristinaCL Chan,,,,, signing off              emoticon

  10. Dear fellow walkers,

IF you decide to have dinner at TMFT:
Before start of the walk, please let me know.

Also, it is better to bring along a raincoat(disposable).

    Thanks for noting,

  11. Hi Christina,

I’m pulling out of the walk as to-morrow I have to attend a wedding cocktail @ 12.45pm with lucheon from 1.15pm at Marina Mandarin Hotel, Raffles Boulevard. I simply don’t have enough time to rush home in Bt. Batok to change into normal walk attire and, then, rush off to Tampines Bus Interchange.

The groom came to my son’s wedding years ago and I have to return the courtesy through my attendance. Actually I had forgotten about it until my wife reminded me of it only just now. Perchance I might bump into a fellow SHCian wedding invitee and we both could enjoy each other’s company in classic SHC camaraderie. We may never know.

Chris, pls accept my humble apology.

    Blessings,

  12. Hi Chris,

    Will join you for walk.
Dinner @ TMFT? Maybe not much food left at that late hour .Suggest take a bus to Bedok MRT Interchange
where the food centre has plenty of choice.

    Cheers
    Ronald

  13. Hi Christina,

Sounds interesting, pls add me and the dinner too. Only thing I may not be able to make it all the way, maybe halfway I might drop off and meet you all at the TMFT.

  14. Hi All

My very first thought was that my buddies not coming and I felt the loss.

However, everything turned out to be a blessing : gd weather & nice walk & fellowship & some nice photos too.

Indeed a long long walk, and I managed to catch up with some friends individually.

We ended our walk at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal where we had our dinner of delicious Fried Rice & Mee Goreng.

Next a small group of us proceed to Bedok Food Centre for our hot & cold desserts.

Time flies while we are enjoying ourselves with friends and I find myself reaching home at 10.30pm.

So I would like to thank Christina Chan and all participants for the rewarding time well spent and we shall meet again in the next walk!

    June Koh

  15. hi christina,

tks for all the effort, i enjoy very much especilly the taking off and the flying over aeroplanes including the accomplishmt of the about 8km walk. however the miss is the stopping for the sea view and breeze. overall the nice weather, fellowship and walk. tks very much once again.

  16. Hi Christina,
A thousand apologies for straying away from the “brood”(or
troop?) yesterday and causing you to worry! I had no choice.
If I walk I would be left far behind because of my problematic hamstrings. Jogging seemed to be a better solution. I enjoyed the distance really although it was quiet gruelling and lonesome, no kakis to chat! Oh yes, I missed the photo-taking! I ate a hugh Samurai burger for dinner and slept like a log at the end of the day! Thank you
for being so compliant and caring. Till we meet again. Cheers. Jennie Tan

  17. Is there anyone going for foot massage today? :)

It’s very encouraging walking in group especially for long distance from day to night. Thank you Christina and K.C. Both of you must be walking very fast to make sure the cafe do not close and to cook for us both mee goreng and fried rice before we reach there. During our desert at Bedok, we talk about going to eat western food & oxtail soup for dinner another day. Anyone interested to join us?

Btw Jennie, did you notice your comment was repeated four times from #35 to #38? Could it be sleep typing? Ha ha! :)

    Stay Healthy! Be Happy! :)

  18. Hi Johnny and All,
I was still in Dreamland this morning, did’nt realise I was
clicking away! How many times? Wow, five! Sorry!
    Cheerio my walking kakis!

  19. Dear Walkist,

fyi, my home Internet had problems somehow the link was disconnected since Friday so had no access till now.

Our walkists have definitely matured as there was no complains … hehehe about the distance.

#31 JuneK yep,,, you breeze through and what a beautiful sight to behold!

    #35 JohnnyP
when I read your 1st sentence, for a sec, I thought you were in the wrong blog hahaha

Thanks for EACH of your presence,
    ChristinaCL

  20. #34 JennieT

Yes, I understand your condition after you shared. I was rather worried as not sure you were waiting at the right spot and all alone as we all of us was taking our time hehehe

When I saw that there are still many lorries plying to & fro, that the road was dimly lit and I didnt see you I quicken my steps :p when I saw you,,, what a relief!

Sorry, I couldnt stop to talk longer as we were late. Need to rush to the cafe to “show face” to assure them that we still want our dinner hahhaha…

    I’ll drop you an email..

    Cheerio!
    ChristinaCL
