Line Dancing – please register here

Hi, there are a few list here and there for groups wanting to form a team for line dancing.  But, it seems a bit difficult to coordinate everybody, as we all live all over Singapore.  Also, it has been difficult to find a place.  So, I can only help coordinate a list of interested instructors and learners.  Instructors can go ahead and form small groups.

If you are interested to start and learn line dancing, just drop a comment here.  And if you wish to teach, do drop your name here too.  I have seen a few line dancing sessions, and I am impressed.  It helps us all keep fit and nibble until the age of 75.  So Learners and Teachers, please put your name here.  And, go ahead to form a team.

Registration as instructors and learners:

  1. Michelle Han – instructor
  2. SB Khoo
  3. Annie Loh
  4. Mike Koh
  5. Mary Tan
  6. Irene Chan – Beginner instructor for Electric Slide, Ten guitar
  7. Maria Tan
  8. Susan Chan
  9. Priscillia Wee
  10. Ronald Wi
  11. Charles Wee
  12. Dolly Lim
  13. Melissa Khng
  14. LH Jie
  15. Linda Chang
  16. Catherine Yeo
  17. Veronica Wong
  18. Christie Chee
  19. Peggy Ho
  20. Ann Giri
  21. Pauline Chew
  22. Cheryl Ho
  23. Dave Tan
  24. Suzhang
  25. Line Dancing is one way to keep fit.  So, join a group.  Team leaders, please raise your hands.

  1. Many indians but where’s the chief? Nevermind even if he has gone MIA or AWOL……..when there’s a will, there’s a way. A leader will step out and start pushing his head forward and then pulling backward, and the rest forming a line behind will follow…..and soon there’ll be line dancing a la indian.

So find an auspicious day to meet up and then start dancing otherwise the names will keep on increasing but there’ll still be no dancing till on 24/3/07 when you can dance any style…..line, lane, lion or just limping around.

  2. Dear Terence, pls take my name off the list. I did not volunteer as “instructor”. I am only the facilitator. The group of 8 who came to my jam last Sat 20/1, actually learned from my friends who were there and get to ‘perform’ 2 dances after their first lessons. They had fun and they are coming again this Sat 27/1. They were very spontaneous and practice on their own until their number comes on. Beng Wi (aka Ronald Wi) is the co-ordinator for this group. (Jam is short for jamboree at any public venue. In this case, Far East Square – Metal Gate. Just pay $2 and you can dance from 7-10.30pm. Lesson starts at 6pm sharp.) Now that we have a site in SHC, I will post the news here every Friday. So if anyone interested, look out for it or contact Ronald Wi for details.

  3. Lily, thank you for the energetic inspiration. Yes, and I am glad you would include some news on Line Dancing. And glad you can also be our facilitator.

    Terence

  4. Hi all,
All those who did turn up on Sat 27th, enjoyed their lessons (Sat Night Fever, Hit ME) from Lily who is very professional about it, so those who want to join in please be punctual, every Sat at FE square.

For those who have miss all the lessons so far, and those who want to practice more , there is another place to meet on Sundays at Paya Lebar MRT , at Singpost from 7 to 10 pm. ( As this is an open air venue, delays or cancellation are expected but is free ). Those who are new, we will teach you Electric Slide, Hands Up, last weeks lessons.

The place and time are fixed , so get your butts moving if you want to start. Dont wait or find any more excuses as time and tide will wait for no one.
    Cheers ,
    Allrounder

  5. Hi all wanna be Line Dancers,

A few of us went to PLA MRT on Sunday , to watch and practice also as they were playing only Country Songs for Line Dancing only. As it turned out , the President of the club noticed us and invited us to join in for fun and also told us about Country Lide Dancing Association of Spore and their activities :- ( can check their website for more info, ok briefly this is what they have ).

It seems that it will be worthwhile to join in as a member as eventually you save alot more .

Membership is $50 , above 55 is $25 for a year ( starting from the date you sign up ) .

Events that they organised are :-

    1. Every monday night at SRC ( Padang ) 7pm to 10pm – in air-conditioned with good music , with 1 hour basic dance instruction for beginners, followed by another 2 hours or dance sessions which include songs you have learned on that day.

Cost: $5 only includes a drink and entrace for the night .

    2. Far East Square
FES Fire – Fridays, 7:00–10:30 pm
    Fee – CLDAS: S$1, Guest: S$3

    SingPost Sunday
SingPost Sunday – Sundays, 6:00–10:00 pm
    Fee – CLDAS: S$1, Guest: S$3

    Club32
    HomeTeamNS–JOM – 1st Saturdays, 2:00–5:00 pm
    Fee – Club32: S$2, CLDAS: S$3, Guest: S$4

Open to people of all ages.

So seems it would be a good club to join as there are many more venues and places to learn and dance, as compared to joining CCs which will only be in one place , one instructor and after the lessons everything is ended.

Here , the dancers have been with the club for over 10 years, and are still going strong.

  7. Hello,

    The actual facts are :

If you join CLDAS for line dancing – they only play country songs and music for line dancing.

You can enjoy all type of songs and music if you learn your line dancing in a CC. You can go to many locations in Singapore for jam which are organised by instructors from different CC . The date, time and location will usually be published in the web page. Please login to Dance Diary Home Page for news on line dancing

  12. Sorry to all my friends who are supportive to linedance.
I am the one started the ball rolling and very much ashamed that todate I am still hunting for a hall or room to kick off the class.

I had just recovered fro ballbaldder operation and have already on the floor dancing.

I am still very keen to start the class on and I believe there are few of you also a good dancers. Shall we all put our heads together and hunt for a place for us to kick off. I believe and pray if we all put an effort on the look out, we should be able to find the place.
    Thank my friends.

  13. By the look of thing, Terence is far away in Korea, things are creeping in to the website, loose end to be tightened up….after “Glamour Photography”….now we have….”Cheapbox360”..
    …what else??????

  14. Hi Catherine Yeo,
    Ron Lai and others,

As SHC belongs to all of us, may I suggest whenever we came across any SPAM comments we can ALERT and CALL the “SPAM BUSTERS” by sending emails to
    SHC at admin@silverhairsclub.com
as Terence may be very busy abroad and have more important issues at hand so that we can nip the problem in its bud.

It is NOT easy for admin people at SHC to read and scrutinise the 100’s of comments flooding the website 24hr/day.

    Thanks for your co-operation.
    Steven Chan
