    I prefer servant to knight because he takes everything that the knight discards to him. Who knows there may be gold in it.

    I m game for any night, any place, anything interesting and last but not least, any company. Except Mon nite, I may need to give a 2nd thought because Mon’s work is sometimes unpredictable.

    I m all ready for 15 Jun 07 at St James. Guess its must be exciting as I have never been to here as well as Zouk or MOS. Thereafter we can drive to Changi beach, lie down and sip drinks while admiring the stars in the sky and let go gas (Guest).

My instructions were, filled that place with male & female drangonflies, houseflies, even make butter fly, saucepan fly, tables chairs fly………and ambulances waiting outside to fly the injured to the A&E. Terence in bangkok sends regrets but nothg to regret if he synchronises a fly there as well. Yes, Sue’s Zouk also can fly……..mambo nite, dumbo fly…….And when the mata come, it’s time to say goodbye.

    We have a group of SHC ladies, coy but energised, still love to gaylek gaylek to the pulsating beats of hard rock, somewhat budget conscious, feel a bit out of place with younger crowds at pubs, some dont drive…….So if you can find them a place nearer home, cheaper that will make a very lucrative biz for you.

    Yes, go sell the idea of setting aside 1 day every week as Ladies Nite to kopishop operators. If you succeed, there’ll only be gals sitting in coffee shops say, every wednesday nite drinking tiger beer from the bottle ($6 for 1 large bottle, cheaper than $12 for 1 teeny wheeny drink in pubs), dancing, screaming, clapping, even the kopi sors join in, wow, what a sight ! And the mood can be very infectious.

    Imagine the whole of spore’s coffee shops doing it. And imagine what money you can make from yr advisory. Absolutely no capital outlay. Ai mai?

    For now, no question that the other 2 Rs are men………….we line up side by side at the firing range and I can tell you, none of us had to squat.

    In SHC we guys walk our talk of mutual help so we will put ourselves on standby even if it means we will yawn thru’out the nite from deprived sleep.

    If PowerHse only hv techno music then I beta omit this one lor.. techno 2 chim 4 me….

    Normally, my kakis went there b4 9pm @ DragonFly to chop a nice plc to watch the live performance and dancing. Coupled with the fact, the buy 1 get 1 free during the happy hour time slot lor… and we usually stay there till going home time lor..
    But I was told that we can call up to reserve a table but so far I hv yet to try lor..

    Another alternative is taking advantage of the ladies nite @ Wed at PowerHse n move to other venue for the dancing lor… Wat say you, ladies har??

    Lily, 1 guy to tag along to MOS with u, wet wet h2o, right no big deal hor….. but I dont really like to go to MOS lor…

    I went to St.James on Monday night to check out the place. There were 12 of us and we made our entry at about 11pm. (Sorry for not reporting sooner, as I also had dancing marathon on Tuesday and had slept through both mornings.) Here’s my report on St.James :

    Being eve of public holiday, the place was totally packed.

    There were a handful of clubs for dancing : Dragonfly, Boiler Room, Movida, Mono, Power House – all with live band. We went club hopping but everywhere was ‘standing room’ only.

    We also went through a handful of bars for drinking only – no dancing. Mono, Bellini, Gallery Bar, etc. (Didn’t see any Karaoke.)

    Among the dancing places, I like Movida best. It’s salsa latino music, very sexy and danceable. Dragonfly comes second for me with Mandarin/Canto-pop and DJ-ed English songs when the band takes their break. I do not recommend Power House unless you like techno music.

    Amongst the bars, I like Gallery best. It’s DJed music and you can watch the crowd dancing (prancing) below in Movida and Boiler Room through the fibre-glass walls on both sides.

    Entry on weekends and eve of public holiday is $15 for one drink. Like MOS, pay for 1 entry and you can gain entry to the rest but can only redeem your drink from the first one.

    Parking : Park at Vivo City yourself @ $2.90 per entry or valet parking @ $5 + $2.90. Valet parking is great except for the delay in getting your car when you leave. Waiting for the valet to collect our car took about 30mins. Taxis are plenty.

    I didn’t see any jazz and golden oldies either at Bellini or anywhere else. There are quite a few open air bars which are actually outdoor extensions of the pub, but I didn’t see any live band/musicians.

    Our group of 12 got splitted up many times and finally re-united at Movida by hphone. JuneLim, if you are planning to go with 30 people, I suggest we go in by 10.30pm and just stay in one place. We can then take turn to move around. (Sorry June, nobody goes clubbing at 8.30pm unless you plan to open up the place for them.)

    As for Rene’s suggestion to go on Ladies Nite to MOS : if we MUST bring a guy along, then each of us ladies bring our own man, that would be ok – right? If you wait for the SHC guys to volunteer, you can wait long long.

  65. After 5 free drinks (at nite somemore when you hardly perspire) you’ll be so hightide that you just wanna squat and not square up with the boogies.

    Btw, going on the eve of vesak day isnt good at all…….the next morning when you take the bow for every 3 steps, you might fall asleep after 2 bows and hold up traffic, so much so that the pub will hv to shut down all power stations in future just b4 vesak day.

    I agree… It’s a waste if we don’t try Wed ladies nite @ Power House. What about on 30 May (Wed)? as next day is Vesak Day – holiday – a good chance to let your hair down. :)p

  68. Got this info from a friend, thought may be useful:

    There’s Ladies Night on Wednesday at Power House, 5 complimentary drinks per lady. As St James under one management, apparently can move from disco to disco, but drinks only at Power House.

    Those of us who love jazz and golden oldies, would be more comfortable at Bellini and Movida, or just hang out at Peppermint Park (open air) to listen to live band/musicians.

    Prices on weekdays still $10 (lady) and $15 (gentleman), but additional $5 over weekends.
    Dragonfly very in demand, as most members hang out there, and they are very loaded and tend to drink too much, and fights often erupted over there…. flush with money, and so awash with liquor, and so cannot have bruised egos, and so fight, fight, fight…

    Hope info suffice. May join in if not too costly, and music nice…as not able to dance well, perhaps to just shake, shake.

  70. Hi June, tim ah liu is an outright out-tak otak so it’s out of his depth in this belly-hop thingy. Even if he wants to watch you people jump, bump, shake, gaylek and do everything so……….(you know what), he cant cos the bouncers will soon throw him out for flooding the danz floor with his drool.

    But if you want to play rugby, anytime. tim ah liu will stand there to let you tackle him 10 time b4 he tackles you 1 time. Want?

    think u more hip than sua ku me…perhaps u decide where in St James we should go…however no jazz, no funky metallic music whre one shakes the head like crazy, no life performance, no karaoke. Just good music to dance to, to work up a sweat :-))Ah Nee came up with StJames whn I was asking her where we should go for a dance. Blur blur me thot St James is the discotheque :-)))) Love crowds. Love to get lost in crowds esp on the dance floor.

  72. Dolly, you been there few times, perhaps you can recommend, bcos we “sua Ku” never been there….a bit blur leh. Since this is our first outing to disco, we don’t mind try anything that aunties and uncles enjoy leh…..music and songs in the 80s’would be nice loh! what think you?

    You still did not let me know what venue at St James you are going le… There are at least 5 or 6 plcs under St James, i.e. Dragonfly, Boiler Room, Movida, Mono, Bellini playing music from R&B, rock, jazz and retro and I think Mono is meant for karaoke and Bellini is more for jazz.

    You must at least hv 1 venue in place first mah so that you can call up to reserve a table even you are thinkg of getg at 30paxs especially u plan for fri nite lor… Dolly

    PS: So far for St James, I only bn to Dragonfly which they hv live performance by some local singers/dancers coupled with William Scorpion and Sly Sim at certain time slot. Music was not too bad for dancing but very crowded esp on weekends.

    For those who couldn’t wait till June. Here is another good new. MOS (Ministry of Sound) is another discotheque place to unwind. There are about 5 dance floors catered for various age group. Young or not so young, you will not be left out. Every Wednesday is’ Ladies nite. FREE Admission for all ladies but have to drag a guy along (no worry guys) you only pay for yourself and you got lots of female companies. Sound like a good deal eh?

While the aunties, ah sohs all doll up to meet senor james, we will go tg balai to see lulu, lili, lucy, mary. 2 exciting nites later, drained but shiok, we go home and will see a bowing line of wives, gfs doing us the kowtow, promising that they wont dare again go to any powerhouse but stay in the house for us to power over.

    btw I heard u are the Dancing Queen :-). Ok, no occasion, just felt like dancing with people of my age grup. Frankly, hve not entered a pub or club (my time known as discotheque) for a long long ZZzzzzzz time. So know nuts abt this St James place. I hope to get as many SHClubbers as possible so that we can make a GRAND entrance and shock the young ones :-)). Why June? Bec of the school holidays, some of our fellow clubbers do hve school going children. Thot these parents would be able to make it whn their children are on holiday, no need to chaffeur them to tuition classes, ECA etc etc.
