REPORT on Clubbing – 30 May

Dear Fellow Clubbers

I’m glad we had fun last night.  Thanks to the 3 guys who came along to chaperon us ladies.  Thanks to Ronald Lee for the supper followed by long chit chat.  But most of all, thanks to all those who’ve made this event possible.

The venue : Zouk  (No. 17 Jiak Kim Street)  next to Grand Copthorne Hotel

Being eve of public holiday, everyone of us paid $12/- for 2 drinks and multiple entries to both Phuture and Zouk.  (Velvet was closed for private event.)

We decided to stay on at Zouk for the music and the atmosphere.  The real dancing only kicked in at 11pm and the dance floor gets more crowded by the minutes.  We really had a good work out on the dance floor for 3 hours.  Also, it was fun watching the young people miming the lyrics on staggered platforms like some kind of a show.  And it was contagious too.!  I found myself and June mimicking these youngsters.  We finally called it a night after 2am.

  1. Dear Lily,

As of now, I am ok for 30th May unless something unforeseen crops up. Yup you are right, it will be nice to let our hair down and boogie with people of the same age group instead of looking out of place in a disco with a largely younger crowd. There is strength in numbers, anymore takers?

  2. Hi Non-Clubbing Ones

Its a chance in your lifetime if you want to experience what clubbing is like with people you known.

Hi Those Who Havnt Club For Long Time

Its time to recollect your old memories, refresh your dance steps and revitalise your youth once again.

  3. Dear all,

We don’t want to miss this exciting outing leh…….Susan, Molly and myself will join in the fun. (^_^)

    shake~~~~shake~~~~~shake~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  4. Btw Lily, do you know whether they have a closing time for the Vivo City carpark or is it 24/7 ? Does anyone know? Don’t want to be locked out just in case we will be having so much fun that we forget the time. Thanks

  5. Cyeo, no worry lah………….you forgot that there’ll be this swordman with you ladies so even if the vivocity car park is closed after midnite, the swordman will cut the whole vivo city to bits for yr car to leave.

  6. try to park at the open space car park near the st james power hse, cost abt $4 l think.
the vivocity shopping mall is locked and closed after certain time so have to walk and find the exact lobby to go back to yr car,its a merrry go round in the mall believe me.

  7. I believe Vivo car park is open 24 hrs but the mall is closed by midnight. The last time I was there, while waiting for valet to bring us our car, there were people who couldn’t wait and cross over to collect the cars themselve. So, don’t think it’s a problem. Dolly, perhaps you can verify this since you usually park at Vivo??

Not advisable to take Guest’s suggestion. The open space CP is right in front of SJPH. Getting a parking space at 8.30pm is not a problem but getting out is, believe me, I’ve seen it.

Lee Ah Nee, Susan, Molly, Cyeo – good to have you ladies joining us.

Tim Liu – why are you talking so much in this column? Did you forget that you’ve been butted out??

  8. Heeee, tim ah liu no swordman but very brave………….pak si buay chou, esp when there’re so many flowers blooming here…….otherwise you think got volunteers to be servant, swordman, knight, horses……..if they take all these honorifics, tim ah liu take insect also can.

  9. Parking at Vivo is 24-hr and should not hv any problem locating your car la… But most impt is that you must remember which carpark# and which entrance# inside Vivo.

  10. Hi Lily

We went to Dragonfly last nite and was told it was fully booked on 30th. I intend to tell you later during our cycling today. However, I received an sms from Renee this morning that you hv no objection going to Zouk on 30th May. That’s wonderful ! :)p

So, it’s good that we changed it to Zouk. I was so kiasu – I made the booking a few minutes ago. By the way, I’ve made reservation for 25 pax just in case. Can I leave you to update this post ?

Confirmed venue hv been changed to : Zouk,
Singapore @ 17 Jiak Kim Street. They start at 9pm.

Ladies – no cover charge. Men – $20 (with 2 free drinks at Zouk).

Those interested, please let us hv your name soonest.

    Thanks & have a nice weekend !
    Susan

  11. Hi Catherine,Eliza, Nina, Gwenyth & Gingko and those intend to join us on 30th May.

Please note that we have changed to Zouk on 30th May. Please don’t go to the wrong place, or you’ll end up with the wrong company. Ha..ha..

Do look out and read the updated info. Lily will update this post shortly.

    Thanks,
    Susan

  12. Skip dinner?

Well, some folks hv noted that in SHC there’re cash cows, robert carrots etc but not sure whether the knights, swordmen & servants for the nite-out keep wads and not handkerchiefs to sweat on when gals start ordering & ordering, in their deep pockets.

  13. normally when its holiday eve there will be charges no more ladies nite.did you double check with them, tell them its holiday eve,its too early the staff might not b aware.

    mrs lee

  14. Hi All,
I wont be joining for dinner. Might be there slightly after 9pm as my course ended at 8.30pm. Will sms Lily when I am there…

  15. Hello hello,

We was wondering whether June Lim is joining us, I told her this morning about ZOUK and she said Ok! So me and June will join in the dinner at Zion Rd Hawker Centre, after that we will proceed to ZOUK.

  16. Dear Julie

Dolly is right on to spot your interest and correctly pointed out the new venue. (I was too busy with the Batam thing to look at the latest comment.) Will you be joining us tonight? Have posted your name on the list in case you are coming.

What to wear? Anything that’s hip and comfortable to booggy in. You can also dress to kill if you like.

  17. My first clubbing night (in Singapore)

First, thanks charming Lady Catherine offered me a nice meal and gave me a ride. (to Zouk)

The place (Zouk) open widely my eyes.

All our ladies are charming and shine. (especially Lady ……..)

The drinks; the non-stop musics and dancings make me nothing but high, high, high…..

When left, thanks Lady Lily held my hands and protect me safely ouside.

After that, thanks my Dai Gor Ronald buy a nice supper for all our ladies and guy.

Must thanks sweet Lady Dolly to give me another ride. (right to my doorstep, hi, Dolly, you’re so nice)

On my bed, I slept like I die, until 8:35 (completely no dream)

After awoke, I found that my feet cannot move and was so, so, so tire.

Then, I realized that I am not young but a silverhair, sigh.

Thanks for Lily, Dolly and Susan (hope haven’t miss others)organized such a wonderful clubbing night. When will the next?

  18. Wow, last nite’s funs were very exciting n enjoyable. Nothing had made us feel out of place in a sea of youngsters craving for dance afer dance confined to just standing space. Believe me, U got to be there to feel the it.

Have not been to a discotheque since my last many many years back, it now reignites the fire that was once lost. I now yearn for more.

Last nite was indeed a memorable one. Dance followed by supper and long chit chats.

Thanks guys. You all are great.

3 cheers for Lily, Susan, Dolly n also Ronald (for supper treat) and all those who were there.

p/s : Tim, by the time U finish reading this, your saliva would have fill up your mug. :D

  19. Hi all

Truly, it was an eye opener for me too, after many many years, never step into a disco. Wow, it was overwhelming with excitement to see the huge crowd at Zouk. Though, I woke up with a heavy head, still dazed from the music & smoke from last nite, we did enjoyed ourselves very much.

Yes, wud like to thank Ronald for the Teochew Porridge at Boe Crescent. Thanks Molly as well as Lily for ferrying us and the ride home.

Yeap, we shld try another place, Dragonfly..he..ha. and maybe somewhere that is suitable for our age group, like Club5 or Devil’s Bar (recommended by Yew Kwong).

    Cheers,
    Susan

  20. Hi Susan,
dun worry le.. there is no such thing as your age or my age group.. just let our hair down n boogie boogie la… who cares rite…

Yeap, we can further explore other plc.. 1 even suggest carriage bar at yorks htl, aimai?? tis 1 sure many like 1 lor…

  21. No, Yew Kwong, if there was a reason for me to salivate, it must be missing Ronald’s ah moi, hokien, hainanese, indian whatever.

If gals came out in droves to praise that ah moi, she must really be something, and that, you kwong kept it away from me. And for that, I’ll fill up my mug with saliva for you kwong to wash down his bitterness for someone gassing him at changi point while he watched the stars so romantically.

Club 5, the hit of she-doyens, must be a place to try.

  22. Dear Fellow Clubbers and non-clubbers,

Please check out the REPORT on our “Clubbing Nite” on this post.

If I’ve left out anything or anyone, please feel free to comment.

Have fun with you again next time.

    Lily Ho

  23. Wow, so jealous. You are all having so much fun. My last disco was 10 years ago.

I think the idea of dancing until 2am is just fun. i had a boys night last night. So couldnot join you.

    Will join you next time.

    Terence

  24. It has been said that if the versatile Terence hasnt succeeded as an astute bizman, he wd still have become a very loved teacher so fact that he spent a nite with boys only means that he was catching up with lost time & opportunities.

So, the next time if we see him not walking very straight, hehe, he must hv given tuition to some boys.

  25. Hi Lily

Very well written report – an unforgettable nite out at Zouk. Am sure this will make a good memoire for those attended.

Hi Dolly, you always make us feel good… young at heart…he..he.. Yeah, Carriage Bar is a nice place too to consider. :)p

  26. I want to say a big THANK YOU to:
Lily –for organising this outing. It drew me out of my well again. I no longer see only the skies but a newer and different horizon.
Dolly – for being a such a life-wire making me laughed more heartily and less inhibitedly; your very te chim Singlish which I am slowly picking up.
Susan –for beating the di-di, mei-mei to take No. 1 queue and chopped a great dance spot for the SilverHair aunties and uncles.
Molly –for giving this new SHC newcomer a ride home at 3:30 in the morning
Yew Kwong, Andrew and Ronald – for the warm reception, “chaperon” service, free super and interesting conversations.
Of course there were also Rene, Catherine, Ah Nee, June and the other ladies.

Despite it was my first meeting and outing with you, I felt so comfortable and relaxed.

I had a really wonderful time. Thought I heard my bones rattling when I woke up this morning. The swinging and boogying must have loosen me up a wee bit. Wow, it was HOT! (as in hip).

In short, it was good company and good fun. Thank you!

    Gingko

  27. Just want to say I enjoyed very very much at ZOUK with you gals and guys. I want to thank all of you especially Lily, to take the initiative to organise the Clubbing for us. Honestly at the dance floor, we do feel like we are all young again, just like any others at the dance foor, dancing and enjoying the music….this kind of feeling very shiok leh! I also want to thank Lily for the ride to Bishan Taxi stand and Ronald for the Supper treat & the Cab ride home. Not forgetting the guys’ company and Dolly’s humourous personality and the rest of you, I truly looking forward to such outing again !!!

*** To have an enjoyable time together, the right company is important, and I am very comfortable with you gals and guys. I have definitely achieved that.***

    Ah Nee.

  28. hmmmmm……..new to silverhairclub and interesting to know of all these activities……so for those of us who hv missed your last outing, any plans in the pipeline for next one?

    Ilow

  29. Dear Irene

We’ve just had one last Sat @ the Pump Room in Clarke Quay. I’m sure you can appreciate the difficulties in getting into a club with a large group and looking out for each other in a confined and crowded space. Therefore, we are now on “inner circle – by invitation” basis rather than posting on the website.

There are some other ladies (also new members to SHC) who are interested in clubbing too. Why don’t you (or anyone for that matter) who are interested in clubbing, post an announcement on the website. This way, you can form another clubbing group.
