  9. I arrived at Buangkok MRT around 3:45pm… gosh it was raining heavily… oops! perhaps some will not be coming I thought.

    Thanks to all (includes a few new members)who came :D :D

    We waited 10mins as some has not arrived we assumed delayed by the rain. We started shortly after 4.40pm, the rain has STOPPED! HE has been most kind! Thank YOU for the good weather, cool breeze, keeping the sun behind the clouds peeping occasionally …. “holding the rain” as Julian commented, throughout the walk!
    As we reached the stadium, we hear thunder! We speed walk to the nearby LRT …..just in time as it started raining when we head off to Sengkang for our dinner and home.

    Look forward seeing you again in our next walks!

    Thanks!

  10. A personal experience:

    A chatter rose suddenly at quiet Buangkok MRT
    As a score or more of old friends reconnected happily.
    The walk commenced; the chatter continued;
    The walkers looked cursorily at the skyscraper view.

    “Wrong way!” someone said from the back.
    The first became last as the human line backtracked!
    Unfamiliar to many, the walk route ahead lay,
    The sun shone brightly; the rain kept away.

    “Turn left” someone said suddenly.
    Into a small, no name road, the walkers turned obediently.
    The kampong unexpectedly emerged;
    A short distance away from the road verge.

    Hidden by vegetation,wild and cultivated, partially,
    We could not see into the kampong properly.
    Only a few simple zinc-roofed houses, we saw
    With ramshackle sheds in-between – nothing more.

    And now the path we trod on was well paved and pleasing,
    Running beside a wide, yellow river that needed cleansing!

    Two beautiful, fruiting trees came into sight
    And eyes and hands examined the fruit with delight!
    “A flower!” gasped a voice. “Take photo, photographer.”
    “Where?….so ugly!” and he refused to snap a picture!

    Grey clouds and darkness seemed to blend
    As we, at last, reached the Sengkang wetland.
    The bridge over the wetland loomed;
    Red flowering cannas lowly bloomed.

    And in the middle – a gigantic purple mangosteen !
    Why a mangosteen so huge? What did it mean?

    Suddenly the darkening sky flashed lightning.
    And quickly the walkers started leaving,
    And hurriedly they to the LRT station strode,
    And there ended the two- hour walking episode. :)
    ****
    Thank you, ECs, for the walking experience. :)
