  1. Hi Lily

Group insurance is fine with me.

Dolly ??? which dinner are you referring hah ?

Will go with majority on timing to go home but think 1740 hrs wud be good.

  2. I am easy with return time (recap, Batam time is an hour behind Spore time). Pls exclude me fr insurance (with my visit there, batam residents/inhabitants shd be the ones to insure).

Huh, when Terence is really drunk, he wont fall flat but falls from the flat.

  3. So, we have Yew Kwong, Dolly, Lily, Susan, Clara and Ann for group insurance. Any more?

BTW, which Ann are you hah?

We have 2 Anns and 2 Annies on this Batam trip. Unless you are the only Susan or Clara, please identify yourself better.

May Han – very very sorry, registration already closed. You’ll have to join in the activities in order to meet other SHCians. But next time, do try to register early ok? (I noticed that you are also late for the Aloha chalet potluck/bbq.)

  4. Lily,

Please include the 4 of us in the Group Travel Insurance. I will pay you this Sat at the Chalet. Thanks!
    1) Lee Ah Nee
    2) Chan June
    3) Norlinda
    4) Anne To

    Ah Nee

  5. Hi Dolly,

Better not miss the last ferry home. I wud also prefer to hv dinner back in Spore.

Not sure by then anyone still want to go for dinner…. heading for home sweet home. Shld be dead tired by then. :)

  6. Hi there,

You will be included as long as you post your name for the group insurance “HERE”.

Will consolidate the name list later and the no. of pax. Will then check with NTUC before confirming to you exactly how much you have to pay. So, don’t pay me now.

  7. Hi, Lily

I request the receipt to be issued under my name as I need to submit to my office for reimbursement. Pleae include my name for group insurance.

Thanks and with the best regards

  8. Hi Lily

    Pls include us ( Cheryl,Elizabeth & Janet ) in
the group Insurance. Let me know the amount &
will send u the CQ .

    Thanks !

  9. Dear Eyvonne – NTUC said : Receipt will be issued to group leader only, but the policy will list all the insured names. For individual receipt, you will have to buy the individual insurance @ $16/-pp.

Dear All – So far, we have 17 listed for group insurance (excluding Eyvonne & Ann something? ).

Ann Lim & Ann To – You are included.

  10. Lily

I believe Eyvonne Chew wants an official receipt for the tour (trip) fare issued in her name so that she can be reimbursed by her Company.

  11. You must be joking.!! The tour operator won’t entertain such request. There will be ONE official receipt and invoice which I will have to bring along with me for check-in.

Don’t make a volunteer’s job unnecessarily difficult. Otherwise, nobody will volunteer to be event organiser in future.

  12. She has given us her time, made enquiries, negotiated for the best deal, kept tabs of payments, making trips to finalise and close the deal, took care of insurance as well and that’s a lot of work.

No doubt if a request can be acceded to, she’ll.

If at the end of the trip any receipt retained that’s of no matter to her anymore but contains the names of all travellers, think she can give that away.

Let’s see it from the position of a volunteer.

  13. Hi Lily,

Pls include me for the group insurance . Tks. Will be away till 19th June. When back, will catch up with latest info asap.

    Regards
    Julie

  14. I don need receipt for my name. May be you can ask the travel agent to issue a letter to confirm I have made the payment. otherwsie I am not able to claim the holidays allowance. Thank you. you can call me at 90287000.

  15. Do include me in the group insurance. I don need receipt for insurance. As long as any receipt have my name shown in list. Sorry for the inconvenience. We appreciate your effort for making the trip for us. Best regards.

  16. This comment was received on the 1st posting of the Batam trip.

Lily, I am Pearlynn. I’ve sent you an email on the Batam overnight. It rather difficult to logg on SHC website to post comment or queries. The quickest way is via email.

There are 4 of us who are keen to join. Understand registration is closed but wonder possible to make accede to our request?? Reply via email. Hear from you. Regards

    Dear Pearlynn

I only have 1 vacancy for twin sharing with a guy @ $101pp. I can’t accommodate your request because the bus takes a max. of 40 pax only. However, you and your friends can sign up directly with HolidayBagus tel.68830016 (Ms Adeline Lum). You will not be in the same bus as us but you will certainly be in the same hotel and on the same itinerary as us.

  17. Dear Eyvonne

Like Tim said, at the end of the trip, you can have whatever receipts I have when I’m done with the checking-in. If you want something more than that, please liaise directly with Ms Adeline Lum of HolidayBagus tel.68890016.

Have included you in the group insurance.

  18. Dear Lily

Thank you. Please ignore what I wrote just now. I did not see the msg. will contact Adeline if I need something more than that.

  19. Dear Lily,

Sorry for the late response as I was busy the last few days. Gary and myself do not need any insurance. Thanks for your effort in organising this trip. We had been member of the SHC for about 3 months but have not meet any of you except the PC team. We look forward to meeting all of you soon.

    Thanks,
    Gary and Serene

  20. Dear Lily,

Just arrived back from Sydney today and saw your posting on group travel insurance. Please count me out and thanks for the hard work in organising the trip!

    Cheers from Catherine

  21. We now have 23 in the group insurance. Name lists posted for your confirmation. If your name is on this list by mistake, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.

  22. It’s ok Linda,

I am waiting for Philip & Priscilla to come back from their overseas trip. They cannot be contacted, so have extended the closing date.

Both of you are already on the list.

  23. NTUC INCOME System indicates that the following ID Nos. not valid. Will the following pax pls respond to my sms or return my call pls :

    1) Cheryl – HO CHER FAH
    2) Elizabeth – HWANG YOONG PIN
    3) Linda Chang – CHONG FOH CHIN

These could be Passport No. Pls provide I/C No. if different.

  24. Have just been told 7/7/07 is a special date. Triple 7. The 40 of us will be spending this special date together. It will be a date to remember, a day to remember, a night to remember in more ways than one…

  25. Correct, Joy.

777 used to be the grand jackpot pay-out in the old days of 1-armed bandit.

Now without significance, 777 is also the day my office moves, after consultations with geomancers that it’s an auspicious day.

  26. The following pax paid for the insurance as of tonight : Dolly, Gingko, Susan, Molly & Ah Nee.

Thanks to those who help forward my reminder to those whom I could not contact. I now have everyone’s email except for Lin Tan who is suppose to sms her email address to me.

Thanks to those who reminded each other via email, to bring along hats, shades, sunblock, insect repellent, small torch light, etc.

Count down to 07.07.07 have started – Batam here we come :)

  27. Countdown to 07.07.07 – 13 days.

A firm reminder to Terence. Dont forget to bring your net to catch crawlies from Batam.

With the absence of Benson, I will bring along a better camera to capture the most unforgetable memories of all times.

For those who want to have a try at the golf driving range, be advised to bring along a pair of gloves. Pay a small price for a hell golfing experience.

For the water lovers, there are 2 nice pools for your pleasure. Never leave your trunks at home hor.

  28. For a start, I shall bring one bottle of whisky 100 ml. Guess enough for every body.

Yew Kwong, let’s see. Maybe I can get a net from Malacca, for the crawlies.

I am just wondering how we are going to pass the night. I need porridge before I sleep. Or should I get some instant noodles? My stomach starts complaining at midnight.

    Terence Seah

  29. If you have not been reading your emails, this is a reminder to get your NATURAL MOSQUITO REPELLENT PATCHES. These are supposedly better and less messy than sprays. I use them at home too.

  30. Hi Lily,

Pls ignore my earlier request regarding the ferry schedule. I should be able to depart with the group on 7/7/07.
Thanks and see u all next week!

    veronlee

  31. Oops, Sorry Veron –

After your call, came home late and tire, and then had to attend to Robert’s request for posting trouble…, then the Blue Helmet thing, …. completely forgotten about your request for the ferry schedule. My apology.

Glad you are able to join our departure – “United we Stand” yeah! Condolence to your recent bereavement. You take care okay.?

  32. Hi Lily

Thanks for your condolence. What I need most now is to have a good rest and get back to my routine and resume work on Monday after 1 wk’s leave.
I really appreciate that you have contributed so much time and effort to shc. U hv so much energy hor!

    Regards,
    veronlee

  33. Lily,

Thanks for organizing the wonderful event and let this last-minute comer joint. Surely enjoyed the whole trip in the 2D/1N (especial the 1N)

Hi, all the trips members, thanks for your patience to tell me your names (please forgive this idiot in remember names). Now, I know most of your names (June, Joy …………..). Next time when I see you, I can come to you directly, call your name, and talk to you happily. How nice!

One thing not very happy is lossing the money to the lady (Susan, there are still next time) again. Dan, sorry I leave the mahjone table earlier (due to I’ve drunk), otherwise, I think you also can win.

Hi all, hope you also enjoyed the trip like me.

  34. I wish to make a complaint to Terence,as the beast walked down from the hill top towards the swimming pool with the swimming trunks,(by the way,who is that beast???iyoh…its me lah../the beauty ladies were yelling at me.Making me very very embrassing ,wish there was a hole so that I could jumping in.

Thank God,if the noise was a bit loud,I might drop my swimming trunks.(by the way,can I use the words Thank God,as Terence’s six commitments are very straigth & firm.

    ( Tips:Yelling a bit louder next time,something might happen.)

  35. Hi everybody,
I am by nature a reserved person. But all of you changed me. I began to warm up to you but sadly by that time the trip was coming to a close. Now I know more of you and look forward to meeting you all again. Enjoyed watching you people playing ’21’ and mahjong. Only thing is that my memory for names is poor, and so if you see me, come up and re-introduce yourself to me! Ha Ha!
    God Bless

  36. Hi Lily,

Just a little note to say a BIG THANK YOU for all your hard work in organising this trip to Batam. You have planned it so well that everything went like clockwork.

Philip & I also want to thank all participants for the great fun and wonderful time.

Looking forward to another SHC trip.

Joan who stays in Perth, is back in Singapore. She is sharing some info about tours to Perth.
If you are interested in going to Perth, please meet at Civil Service Club in Bukit Batok on Wed 11 July at 2pm outside the Westwood Bowl.
(Take lift to Level 3, the Swimming pool level).

I am meeting Joan at 1:45pm outside the Bukit Batok MRT Station and we will walk to the Civil Service Club together.( Just a few minutes’ walk )
If you are not sure of the way to the club, you can meet us at the MRT Station at 1:45pm too.

    Priscilla Wee :)

  37. Hey Anthony,

You should count yourself lucky to have received ‘vixen-whistles’ and ‘catcalls’ from the SHC beauties while in your swimming trunks. Now how many men get that kind of reaction? You were lucky there was a big swimming pool for you to jump in instead of a hole. Yup if the din was a little louder you might ‘loose'(lose) your trunks too.

As for the money you ‘loose’ (lost), come on it was well worth it, don’t you agree because you had a fun-filled trip. The moral of the story is ‘if you intend to ‘gamble’ bring a little more cash instead of cheque-book’. Hehe it was nice meeting you! So Terence, throw the complaint out the window!

  38. Hi Lily,

Thanks, my appreciation for the trip so well organised and also to all the beauties and the “beasts” for making this short trip so cheerful and enjoyable.

    Cheers
    Ann Lim

  39. We should give a standing ovation to our organiser,Lily and not forgetting her assistant Dolly for our first successful overnight trip!
It was really sweet of you both to pay out of your own pockets to ensure that we had the karaoke hall way after the supposed closing hours. Everyone had fun that night I am sure.

To all participants, I hope you had enjoyed yourselves because I certainly did.

    Have a good day!

  40. Anthony, if you had lost, it was due to yr tipping the masseuse like a sheik for rubbing you at where you liked. At my bunk-luck, you lost the most as I was the only winner, seeing $350-$400 changing hands.

Philip, indeed you did open yrself and wd hv continued to open up all the way from the wash-room to the concierge had I not said no no….the gals there had seen bigger ones, not with silverhairs but colorful feathers.

Yes, Lily deserves more than our profound appreciation & I too join in to put this on record. She changed what wd have been a trepidation to pulsation for us, to say the least.

The tour agents too take a full page in my records for being wanting, to put it very mildly.

Sijori……..it was insipid & has become the home of centipedes, millipedes & their kids, probably after some sporeans had their heads bashed at nite and needed stitches to close their horrifying memories, never to return again.

The resort is much neglected, a derelict in my words. It too was an experience for its staff, rushing to prepare food for 40, with some orders “finished” which were never available in the first place.

We had to play waiters for ourselves but there was no anger as we laughed ourselves silly in adversities. The spirit of SHC.

Service at the resort? If they hadnt been too good, at least they tried and that was good.

Personally, I found the staff helpful. When I asked for a toilet roll, they rolled it in the wet toilet floor, perhaps too eager to please. They had no hesitation coming back with another roll.

  41. Hi everyone,
I have taken several pictures and posted it on my website. You are welcome to view the photos. Just go to the site – puspalm.myphotoalbum.com

    Hope you enjoy the pictures.

  42. Thanks, Philip, I stole a peek. Seems like the cockerel under the elephant’s legs looked like that one trying to get out from yr bag.

When Dolly is helping, she’s quiet & concentrates like her morning routine but when she isnt, she pops about noisily & happily……….so aptly, Dolly-pop.

  43. It was raining dogs n cats on Sat morning but that did not deter the 40 of us bravely to Harbourfront, some were there as early as b4 8.00am…..

Lily, I am sure all of us enjoyed this trip very much eventhough there was abit of small hiccups over the room accom. Knew that you were abit upset for this happening but rest assured that we all knew that this was not your fault at all. So whether there was extra bed or no, not a single 1 SHC had complained at all.

Andrew, so now you knew har, vodka not 4 u hor… vry kheng hor… cant even kept your eyes opened at all… such a funny sight to watch both Susan and I yawning along where Dan and I are still vry ‘jing shen’ lor… but hor.. I still lose le… :(

Someone told me, cant recalled who liao, the only time we can saw more guys than gals was at the midnite swim… 6 hunks and 1 beauty lor… Ladies, which of the hunks is your favorite har… Veron got these pics, bet if she going 2 let these photos at car boot sales hor.. she will definitely make a fortune hor.. Right, Veron??

Aiyo, Athony, mai ke ke…. you must be feeling proud as peacock while parading towards swimming pool Sunday morning, so many ah wu calls n cat whistles… Complaint kena threw out straightaway liao, right Terence??

Priscilla, I reli ‘got eyes dun noe orh e orh” as you hv been quite quiet during this trip but Sat nite karaoke reli make me see you up up le.., your ‘ti ni hwa’ n shang hai tan’ were reli good le… at least now, many of us knew that you can understand Cantonese liao… hehehehe… Maybe can join the talentime coming this November, how abt that har??

Most of them were enjoyed happily singing karaoke and dancing till the wee hours…

Open hse at Rm 255 also fantastic with lots of foodies n drinks coupled with card games and mahjong…… Somemore hor.. Bessie and Ah Nee got Si Fu to coach them to play mahjong le… so ladies, ready to take up challenge at games day hor??

All those will not make possible if not for our great organizer, Lily, rite?? Agreed?? Quoted what Cath said earler, I am sure everyone enjoyed this trip cos I certainly did…

Philip/Andrew, no worries la… I also cant remember some of members’ names lor.. but hor, there is always next time/place where we will meet again so I believed it is matter of time, we remember one another.. cheers :)

  44. Dolly,

Yes, I think I’ll never drunk. But with the vodka, I got the 2nd drunk in my life. Luckily, haven’t don’t any thing wrong except losing a little bite money (better than the first time). Mever touch the vodka again!!!

    Lily,

Agreed with Catherine, must give you a standing ovation for your effort of the trip. Sure, no people can compete with you for the organizer of our next trip. I’ll be the first one to raise my hand for the next trip wherever and whenever(not the last minute anymore). Thanks

  45. Hi Lily, Dolly and everybody,

The Batam trip was a tremendous success. The Event organiser and assistants in the background made it joy and fun. And, the participants gave the weekend lots of warmth and togetherness.

This is the beauty of SilverHairs getthing together. So nice to get to know other SilverHairs in Singapore.

    Terence Seah

  46. Andrew and Terence, and anyone else…..

Can you please re-post your comments on the new posting “Report on the Batam trip”.

Sorry, I didn’t get the report out earlier as I was exhausted last night and had to work today.

Terence and Yew Kwong, – you have the pictures.
