I could hve danced all nite-Part 2

Hi Terence think I should hve a "closure" to my posting…"I could hve danced all nite". appreciate it pls, if you cld post the following for me, thanks much… I refer to my posting in Apr.."I could hve danced all nite". Wow, the posting attracted quite a lot of comments. It also prompted several members to form small groups to go clubbing before the intended date 15 Jun :-))). They are the Nike people…just do it people!!! I joined one of the groups on the eve of Vesak, to Zouk. Suaku me did not know tht the action only begins at 11pm!! Anyway, it was exciting after having not gone for 3 decades!!! . By the way, the scene has not changed much…the drinks esp the non-alcholic ones were the same, the lightings etc. One thing was different though. That nite, I noted there were more young guys than young girls!!! During my time in the 70’s, there were more young girls than young guys :-((( Must be more female post war babies :-))) Anyway, after having gone to Zuok, I hve to accept the fact that I couldn’t dance all nite after all…no energy :-))) Since I hve gone and many members hve gone clubbing after my posting, I would like to close my posting for 15 Jun.

HOWEVER, if there are some members out there who are waiting patiently and looking forward to the 15 Jun nite out, then pls let me know so that I can arrange the outing to St James.

  1. Me 2 hv not gone to a disco 4 more than half a decade. How I got that much energy I m still finding the answer. Guess the others are also doing the same.

Believe its the music, the company, the environment and many more factors that were rite. If only you hv hanged on a little longer, you wld hv been electrified and energized.

Anyway I think you should keep the date at St James on 15 Jun 07 alive for those who prefer something different from Zouk.

  2. My first drink was a gin and coke. It was $12 in 1976. I remember it was at the former Plaza hotel along Beach Road. It was wild, and all I could afford was one drink. Believe me, I was mabok with that one drink.

I guess we have not met, but I must meet up with you one day. Naughty me, I am off again on 15 Jun. Well, keep your ideas coming. I definitely will join one of the disco nights one day.

  3. Back in the early 70’s, $10 plus is a big sum. I still remembered we can only frequent the disco once in a blue moon compared wif paying 50cents for a cinema ticket then.

There are still many activities Terence hv not participated like cycling, nature walk and now the music is dancing away from him. lol.

  4. The phenomenon of more younger guys and older gals patronising discos can be quite easily explained off.

With gals gaining more financial independence, getting vocal and speaking their minds, many remain unmarried, choose to be unmarried or not chosen for marriage. So with a lot of time but not a second expended to raise kids, they understandably while away, raising tempo & adrenalin.

Guys of marriageable age, on the other hand, hv been snapped up by dragon gals, sexy roubles, voluptuous dongs and other foreign talents who can do & give a lot more than only finger licking good.

Come another decade & we’ll probably see boys as young as 16 and gals as matured as 60s dancing with each other in discos.

  5. I don’t remember how much is the drink at that time becos I have never paid for it. In those days the guys will paid for the gals. And, we gals are very naughty, we only go out if the guys have car, so that after the disco we will have no problem of going home in the wee hours. I think St.James will be a different ambience totally, from ZOUK. I don’t mind going to St.James really, if you all want to.

  6. Hi All,
If you are going to dragonfly, then beta be there early to chope a plc as their first showtime started as early as 7pm lor..

  7. Dolly,
You are so familiar at St. James, so how can you leave us alone there! must join in leh. No Lily, Dolly, Rene, Catherine, Yew Kwong, Andrew, Tim……where got fun? How about the rest, Caroline, Clara, Ron Lai, Ronald Wi….

    Ah Nee

  8. Nee, obliged to you for seeing tim up but he may soon run amok with the relentless pulsating beat thundering thru the nite……..he’s a guy who needs some respite and in a disco, the toilet is where he hides depriving people really in high tide which means he has to bade you an early good nite which is not right when the mood is still so upbeat & bright.

  9. Yes, tim has long resigned to the fact that he’s a darn hopeless romantic…what bigger sin than sending carnations on valentine’s day?

Seriously, it’s satisfying to see reticence removed & this forum becoming livelier now, evident from the exchanges in the disco and chalet threads. He’ll now laze under the coconut tree and will try to entice the monkeys to climb down & start a SHC of their own. And then he can alternate his monkeying around. Who knows, some of my fellow SHCians may be seen climbing coconut trees & dating monkeys fr the other SHC.

Haha, who says we’re far fr the planet of the apes?

  10. Tim,
Don’t you agree, we are all young at heart though we are all SHCians. So enjoy yourselves while you are still young and energetic! We should be free & relaxing now! after all these years of bringing up our kids and working very hard in office and at home. (~_~)

    Ah Nee

  11. My kid is 10, heeeee, you want to bring her up while i go play play? Seriously, you hv given yr good years to raise a family and shd now enjoy with fellow SHCians similarly deserved.

  12. …what bigger sin than sending carnations on valentine’s day?

Not too hopeless for you than someone sent chrysanthemums on a Birthday – Cheap and big.

  13. Wd we be raising kids together if I hadnt been kuai kuai but allowed myself to go wild with you while whiling away my good years at tai seng hong ? Can never tell.

You were lucky that he sent you chrysanthemum on yr birthday. Other than it’s cheap & big, it can last for a long long time into yr next birthday, and when it finally dwindles away, you can boil it for yr whole kampong to drink.

Tsk tsk tsk, such a good man, small in budget but big in economics, and you let him go.

  14. Don’t blur blur hor and see double vision. I left Tai Seng Hong long long ago.

YOu can have him if you think is VALUE FOR MONEY.

  15. June

    You sound great.

What happening on 15 June, believe me I so buzy with work that I dont know what date today.
June you a dancer, unless you teach me I will join you.I dont access to internet daily, could called me at 91441298

  16. Hi MayHan..sorry to disappoint u..me no dancer :-)) just can shake old hips to the right, shake them to the left and repeat, that’s my dance :-)))I think only a handful is interested in going to St James on 15th and think most likely they will make their way there themselves as they know each other already.

  17. Hi May

You dont need to learn how to do disco dance.
We all learn on the spot. What it needs is just some guts to kick off.

As what June says, just shake it to the right, shake to the left and then repeat.

  18. Hi May,
Judging from those previous comments that you hv make so far, I believed that you r definitely a better dancers than all of us here except Lily cos both of you do line dance lor.. so why worry le.. if cant dance, shake shake n jogak jogak also can. That’s wat happened during our last nite out at Zouk… Mai set a high standard for yourself la… vry chuan 1… hehehehe

  19. Hello Dolly,

As of today, Yew Kwong, Ronald, Ah Nee, Gingko,
    Olivia, myself & you lor.

Still waiting for confirmation from Catherine.

Peggy, thought you wud like to come & look-see, look-see ?

Fyi, Dragonfly is fully booked this Friday, but I suppose if we want to watch the performance standing around should not be a problem.
Movida, Bellini, Boiler Room with live band – it’s full too ! However, they have tables reserve for walk in guest from 6 – 9pm on 1st come 1st serve basis. Go before 9pm, there’ll be no cover charge for all.

Dolly/Lily – do you hv other options ? If not, think we can still try going to Movida earlier, so we can hv a place. What say you guys/gals ?

  20. Hi Susan – received yr sms but I was in JB w Charles, Ron Wi and Joy remember? Dat’s y didn’t respond.

With the publicity on “the star” William Scorpion in the news yesterday, there probably won’t even be standing room @ Dragonfly this weekend unless you go extra early.

Dolly, are u going? Will go if you are going. Don’t mind checking out what ‘star’ quality this Scorpion guy has.

  21. Hi All,
If we are going, then we probably have to be dragonfly ard 8.00pm and if later getting 2 crowded, then make switch later to other plc at st james.

I will go but definitely will hv 2 leave ard 12 or latest 1am as I need to wrk this Sat lo.

  22. Hi Lily/Dolly

That’s great ! Nice to have both of you.

I intend to be there even before 8pm, to view the performance. Yes, we can switch to Movida if it’s really packed. Me too, don’t think I want to stay till the wee morning again…. very bad for health leh plus I got to wake up early next morning.

Hello Dolly, I thot you signed up the tree-top walk this Sat with Lily ? and you say you need to work ?? Alamak, too many activities itz ?

  23. Aiyo aiyo, my dear sue, u reli blur blur sotong leh.. Tree-top walk next sat la or I saw d date wrongly har… must verified again liao…

  24. No lah YK…. seeing too many posting make me blur lor.

I like the hanging bridge at tree-top walk. Lily will enjoy the walk with you, but stay behind her or else… LOL

  25. Good morning to all the so hip and cool members :-)Today’s friday the 15th! :-) Tonight, Susan Chang and several “regular” clubbers will be meeting at St James Powerstation at 8 pm thereabt. For others(the first timers and whoever else) who are keen to join Susan Chang and group, do sms me at 98793979, and I will inform the gang to look out for you. Thanks and hve a good day :-)

  26. For those who can come in early, its 6.30pm. Currently some special show there has attracted big crowd. So dont be suprised if it take you longer than usual to find us among the crowd.

Pls post your name here so that the group knows who’s coming.

  27. Hi YK,

Actually my comment on #33 – 2nd sentence is meant for Dolly as she will be going for the tree-top walk.

Dolly & Lily – enjoy the morning walk – remember to bring along mosquito repellant.

  28. I know of a method which will disappoint everyone heading to the tree-top walk.

You Kwong, dont wink at me. So you know? Ok, pls go implement my idea then.

  29. No worry Susan

I will walk with anyone whether its tree top or ground bottom and stay side by side just in case…. I m more worried of the back than any direction else.

Tim, dont you agree with me?

  30. Susan dear

Tree top got mosquitoes meh? Darn, have avoided the birds now have to worry about mozzy. C u 2nite. Dolly & I will be there 6.30pm

  31. Yew Kwong, I’d like to agree with you but then hor, i cant hurt the sweetie who has asked you to walk behind & not beside her so looks like the only way out for you is to stand on Lily’s head which also is energy saving bcos she does all the walking and you get to move along without expending an ounce of energy.

  32. Dear Lily

Tree top walk is a stretch starting from SICC road in and further. You don’t just end on top of the tree… he..he..

Actually for me I am not too worried about the birds but mozzy, as like you, I am also very prone to mozzy’s bite. Now with dengue season, better take precaution.

Well, pls tell me your experience when you are done.

    Cheerio !
