SHC monthly gathering – Thur 17 April 2008

The date for the April monthly gathering has been set for Thurs, 17 April 2008. 

  • Date : Thurs. April 17, 2008, afternoon to evening.
  • Time : 3p.m. – 7p.m. (or thereafter) for working or non-working SHC members
  • Venue : Han’s Cafe,& Cakehouse, 1 Upper Pickering Street.
  • Event Organiser:  June Chin
  • Objective:  Members (new and existing) get – together and knowing one another, interaction and fostering friendship, etc.
  • Entrance:  free.  Strictly for SilverHairsClub members only.
  • F&B   :  Consumption as per Cafe’s billing.

3.00p.m.         Grace Wong – Registration upon members’ arrival.

                       Members commence meeting with fellow SHCians to achieve above objective.  New members pls come, we love to meet as many of you.  Please have your  food and beverage (F&B)at cafe as we are using their facility and have an obligation to give them business.

EVENT THEME :  "  ANYONE CAN PAINT" .  By following some simple rules you can experience a hands-on interactive learning on the art of painting.  

                       It is an abstract artwork which is unique and is created by a group of 5 individuals.  Painting is therapeutic, creating styles and colours and importantly you will have fun interacting and discovering your talent.    

Materials :   Paint, painting brush, painting paper, paper cups and adhesive tape.

To defray material purchase cost :   $4.00 per participant.  Interested?  Pls register at this post.

Art of making fans

Date : Sat. 26 Jan.2008, Time 3pm.-5p.m. (or thereafter)

Venue : Han’s Cafe & Cake-House, 1 Pickering Street (where we had SHC Jan 17, 2008 monthly gathering).

I shall be pleased to show you how to make fans for Lunar New Year decorations.  As some of you have seen the samples I brought to our last gathering, these fans make attractive wall, door and flower arrangements (centre pieces of art work) to beautify your homes for the coming CNY.  If you are interested, pls register your response to this post by Thurs. 24 Jan,2008.  As we are using the facilities at the cafe, pls do order snacks/tea/coffee or whatever makan to help Han’s management generate some business.

Pls bring the following material : 1 pair of scissors, stapler/staples, a couple of rubber bands, and most importantly 26 pieces of Ang Pows.

June Chin – Profile

Hi SHC members,

My name is June Chin, a new SHC member.  I am a volunteer working with children at the KK Hospital, Singapore Arts Museum, and National Museum of Singapore, doing arts and crafts.  i aso teach English as a second language (ESL) to foreign students at the International Baptist Church.

I share a variety of common interests with some SHC members, such as meeting people, listening to music, going to concerts, dancing, food, travelling, reading and exercise etc.  You see me every morning at the Botanic Gardens.

By the way, anyone interested in language?  I like to practise speaking German and it would be great if I can find a match at SHC.
