  1. Hi GraceW,

Can I ask you to take care of the registration list on that day? Tasks – prepare the name list, tick the names against participants who turn up and ensure each participant has a sticky label, with the name written on it.

June and myself would be glad to have your assistance. Can you?

    Terence Seah

  2. Hi June Chin,

I am shall be giving you the access to this Post. When your program is ready, please share it with us. You have also EDIT access to this Post.

  8. Hi Suzhang @ #25,

Glad to meet you nice ladies again on the 17th April! I doubt I will be joining you for the Thai Disco as that place is pretty rowdy! Anyway, let’s catch up for a good chat on that evening.

    Cheers!
    Sue

  9. H June,
Pls register me, can only be there ard 7pm.

Hi OnlySue, no worry lah, this Thai disco is definitely not as rowdy as those in Golden Mile Complex lor.. Moreover, we have guys’ company mah.. If u r game, just go there 4 eye-opener lor..

  10. Hi Dolly!

Thanks for inviting me to join you folks for the Thai disco….Am sure everyone of us SHCians will enjoy your bubbly personality and humour, and even if we don’t dance, your presence there does make a great difference!

  11. after MIA for so long, I guess I’m back. been away and been busy ironing some personal matters. now it’s done. I’ll be considered under ‘forced-retirement’ starting from 25 apr. so perhaps I may have more time for SHC activities. miss all the young people here!
    ok see you guys there!

    cheers
    jeremy

  12. Hi June,

Am sorry I cannot participate in the painting session at 4.00pm.

Can only be there around 6.30pm after doing my personal errands in the afternoon.

    Thanks & regards

  13. Hi Terence,

Please include me for the gathering as well as the painting. Curious to see what is it all about. Session 1 for me.

Thank you & see you all on Friday. Cheers.

  14. Hi June,

I see you have arts skills. Plse tell me what other arts skills do you know. Maybe we can develop the Arts for SilverHairs. I am keen to know if you also conduct courses on a regular basis.

    Terence Sea

  15. Hi AndreK,

What time will you be at the Gathering. I don’t see you for quite some time. I still remember to do a personal TA presentation for you. Let me know the time and I will be there.

    DennisH

  16. Hi Dennis, KT, Kenneth

    1) See ya.

Dear Dennis at #45: TY for your offer.

    2) If you want to demonstrate your TA, you may show me YZJ, SGX, Ho Bee, HupS, Wing Tai, OCBC and SMM on : a) yearly for last 5 yrs and b) current 12 month yoy running.

Each biz on one page will do for (a) and (b).

If these are too problematic, then forget about them. Then enjoy fellowship on Thur is fine.

    Hi June:

    3) Are you teaching painting? Is Jie also learning too ?

    Hi Peggy,

    4) see you too

    Warmest regards

    KYL, Andrew

  17. Hi, June:

I plan to drop in barring unforeseen circumstances.

Not to paint, but to get to know fellow SHCians. Particularly those heading for Hotboys Kelong on 19/4. Anyone needs fishing hooks tied? :o)

    Ron Koh

  18. Nur..
how to get there?..if u taking MRT..its Raffles Station..exit towards Pickering Street..not sure, think u can easily ask around..its very near from the station
Sori takde time to cakap at email…nanti we meet, can cakap2 ok :)

  19. Hi Dennis at #45 and my #49

Are you ready with your TA on the seven businesses ?

If not, might have other priorities to attend to this Thursday.

    Cheers,

  20. Hi Terence

Please include Sophia Lim for this gathering and at the same time I will get my red woollen shawl back from you. Remember to bring with you.

My website is giving promotion for The Oriental Cookbook with Chinese Cuisines Snacks and One-dish Meal PDF book given FREE

    Thank you.

    Sophia Lim

  21. Hi Terence,
Since there is quite a number of budding cooks in SHC and you (?) already seem to have a shoplot (Scorebot?), why don’t you marry the 2 and have a week or fortnight promotion where the ‘cooks’ can demonstrate their talents there and all the SHC members and friends can come to eat and mix around for their meals fir that week or fortnight. In addition there can also be tea sessions where other members can also show their other talents, be it in the kitchen, baking, cooking, pastries etc or IT or TA etc with a computer, or a short talk on appreciation of teas, wines, whatever.

I believe the downside risks are minimal and perhaps some of these talents can grow to “Bengawan Solo” size, perhaps smaller.

For those interested in Eurasian food, there is an outlet/cafe in Middle Road selling Eurasian food by a renowned Eurasian author/cook. But she is there everyday except for maybe Sun (can’t remember) and she serves lunch and tea. SHC can also decide to use her place as a meeting point but it might be too small and it also depends on her.

  22. helo Terence & JuneChin

Just wondering..whether going fwd we can start the meet at 5pm to 9pm..instead of the usual current timing?..bcos 3pm to 7pm dont suit the working class ppl like us lah…how to mingle when everytime we arrive…semua orang sudah balek!..apa macam? so kesian rite :)hhmmm

  23. Hi Charles Chua,

I would like to encourage you to initiate a couple of events on cooking. Take some time to know the other members of the club; and once you know them better, it will be easier to organise cooking sessions. Knoing enough other members is the key to successful event organising.

And, should you have some chit chat sessions or get to know one another events, why not consider the cafe at middle road. I would be pleased to join.

    Terence Seah

  24. Hi Nor #60,

Among SHCians, we have the two groups; one group with some time on their hands; and the other group very busy at work from 9-5pm.

The 3-6pm slot is for SHCians who have retired. And the 6-8pm slot is for those who are still working. You and I belong to this group.

I guess one day, we would have SHC monthly gatherings for SHCians who have retired, and maybe then, we can pick the time slot 10-12nn or 2-4pm.

For SHCians still working, a bit tough; but we can have some new ideas. Breakfast? or supper? Looks like oneday, we have to hold our monthly gatherings in a disco.

Weekends? Still looking for big big venues with flexibility and reasonable F&B. Headache?

    Terence Seah

  25. Hi Terence,
“I would like to encourage you to initiate a couple of events on cooking…… why not consider the cafe at middle road. I would be pleased to join.”
Sorry but I can’t cook at all and I suggested the Eurasian cafe because I thot some members might be interested in Eurasian food/tea. If there are more than 6 members who are interested in having lunch there and meeting Mary Gomez, I can easily arrange it on an impromptu basis. Just suggest a date for lunch. I know that if the group has a liking for a particular dish, she will cook it for the group, even though the group is small, eg curry feng, oxtail stew and ‘bun susy’

  26. Hi Charles,

Fix a date, and I will join you. What does it cost? Havent been to a Eurasian cafe; but idea sounds great. How big is the place?

    Terence Seah

  27. OK Terence, How about tomorrow, Apr16, or Thurs, Apr 17th, or next Wed, Apr 23rd?
Food is cheap there and the place is small. I can meet you in Queen Str at the Ch of Sts Peter and Paul and we can walk over. Any time around 12 noon to 1pm is fine. Is it a date? Any one else interested? Don’t get your hopes up too high as food is quite subjective. It should be enjoyable exchanging stories.

  28. Hi Charles,

Let’s see who else can join for lunch. I shall see you at 12nn, 16 Apr, Queen Street. Yean for some Eurasian food.

    Terence Seah

  29. OK Terence,
Apr 16th., Wed., 12 noon at Queens Str, near or in the lobby of Oxford Hotel.
Hi Yew Kwong, we are meeting as above. If you are late or cannot make it, call/sms me at 94360391. I know the place but don’t know the address. It is actually on Waterloo Str., opposite the coffeeshop, next to some dance school, closer to the Middle Rd side.
    Good nite.

  30. Hi June Chin,

    V. sorry ,pls take out my name from list.

Forgotten that I had to attend HOT yoga class

I personally think that HOT yoga should be renamed as SAUNA Yoga. Doing yoga exercises in a spacious HOT room.

You sweat like hell at 37 deg. C.

  31. Hi charles Chua,

After the lunch with other SHCians, pls.give us the address of this
    Eurasian food stall .

Would like to taste the Devil’s Curry as sugested by Ron Lai.

  32. Hi Dennis

Re my #57 on your suggestion at #47 and my response at #49, please advise whether you are able to do your TA on the 7 (or any of the 7) businesses.

Have competing priorities during the time schedule on this Thursday, your input needed to fit in schedule.

If no reply by this evening, will take it as “no go”.

    Cheers and TY

  33. Hello!! EO!!

    What happened to my name??

See @48 where I registered… Is it getting confusing with another meeting set for Wed April 16th??

  34. HI Steven, I had lunch with Terence and Yew Kwong in “Mary’s Kafe”. Terence and YK both had the curry debal and I had the beef ball curry. Must be quite good as we finished all our helpings. You can ask them about the taste. Set lunch costs $7/- which includes 1 main course, 1 dessert and a drink.
Address is 96, Waterloo St., inside the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations Bldg (SCWO)
    Always good for a lunch.

  35. Hi Terence n CharlesC

Tks 4 the gd lunch company. I m still trying out the fd at different stalls ard my ofc during lunch.

Sori 4 my quick departure as lunch time was up. The fd at Mary’s Kafe is gd n price reasonable. Ovr at the oth side within the same premises is a thrift shop, “New 2 U” tat offers gd bargains.

  36. Hi Terence and YK,
I enjoyed the lunch and company too. If you have any interesting food suggestions, I am always game for lunch. Cheers

  37. Hi Andrek, Since you are press for other appointment, let do it at scorebot when we meet. No need for special arrangement. I will save your interest in a layout on my MetaStock software.

Please go aheah with your appointment.

    DennisH

  38. Thanks Charles Chua for the address of Mary’s Kafe.

Glad to hear that you guys enjoy the food .

Will a point to try out if I passed by Queen Street.

  39. Hi June

Thank you for organising the event.

This s my sencond time attending SHC’s gathering.

This time round the attendance was very good and I managed to meet the fellow club members whom I learn about trough the postings and comments but as not able to meet in person yet.

    Great job done, June

    King Seng

  40. HiJune

My apologies for not informing you that I wont be able to make it for the gathering.

Its a last minute thing I had to attend to.

Hope you had a good time meeting all your friends.

    Warmest Regards

    Caroline Gee

  41. Dear Dennis at #79

I was saying : I am prepared to forgo your TA presentations yesterday, if you are not ready.

Was at Han Cafe yesterday, meeting up with old friends and knowing new ones.

Please send me a one-page of each of the seven businesses, then we meet during one of SHC meetings, for an example on Labour Day.

Otherwise, I take it you are not ready. Not keen with NATO – yes?

  42. June,

yesterday’s event at Han’s was very enjoyable. Thank you for drawing out our ‘hidden’artistic abilities. You are a very patient and capable teacher indeed.
You’ve inspired me and Lydia to continue if we can find eager participants to form a group. So far, we are the only two.
Anyway, I will try doing it on my own, using 5 colours. The final product may turn out not quite as interesting as when there are 5 different people with their own characters.

    Thank you again.

  43. Ron,
if I had discovered earlier that you were quietly folding origami, I would have joined in and tried learning. What you folded, the lips, the flapping bird and the butterfly were fantastic! The little I know pales in comparison to your knowledge and dexterous fingers.
That’s twice in one day that I was inspired to pick up something that I thought was long lost and gone.
I’m looking forward to learning more from you.

Thank you too for the cute specimens that I’m dying to show my girls. :-)

    Make it soon ok? Thanks.

  44. Dolly, yesterday evening was fun. In spite of the lack of a dance floor, we all had a good time didn’t we? Everybody was grooving to the music although it was a little too loud for conversation, but that’s what a disco is like ya?
Thank you for a lovely time. :-)

  45. Hi June,

Thank you for organising the monthly gathering. Good to see you again and catch up with the rest and meet new friends.

Warm bear hugs were absent, but inviting red lips and kisses were flying all over last evening. RonK, you made many ladies beaming home contentedly. Thank you for the pair of impromptu Origami kissing lips. Ladies, physical no more huh ;-)

Jie, Ron made you the smallest and cutest one, but it worked the hardest… collagen time??

  46. Hi Terence,

I had a great surprise last evening. How come there was a MATCH-MAKER amidst our gathering? Did you sneak her in through some backdoor? I hope you ain’t trying to marry some of us off quickly, or are you? Haha… care to enlighten?

  47. Hi Gingko,

The lady who introduced herself as a match-maker was brought in by Patrick Khoo.

Patrick had broken the rules by bringing in a non-member to a SHC activity. Patrick, please take note.

    Terence Seah

  48. Hi all at #93,

SHC is NOT a match making platform but more a place to find good fun, laughter and most important of all sincere friendship among SHCians.

We do NOT need any match maker to marry off us so quickly.

We need more freedom and breathing space lah!

Love will blossom naturally with the right chemistry and right time.

So be you guys and gals, open your eyes wide b4 marriage, 1/2 close afterwards.

    Be more patient lah.
Love is many a splendour Thing.

  49. Hi Dolly,

Thank you for the warm welcome which you make us (James & me, first timer) at home when being approached by you. I can see from your expression, really. Good to meet new friends there, like Terence Seah, Dan Huang, Mary Chan, Mary Chang, and many others. We did enjoyed ourself last nite.

Looking forward to more of these activities with SHClub.

  50. Hi AndrewK, #85, #79, #72
“Otherwise, I take it you are not ready. Not keen with NATO – yes?”

Sad to hear that you see me as “NATO” and if I do join such an organisation its “GREAT”.

Well as I had been mentioning all along that I will display the TA studies to YOU on my Charting Software. But it look like you don’t understand what the TA I am trying to sharing with you.

I need to explain it with a chart not on writing. That is why I had been saying I will bring along my notebook all because of YOU. Its all technical jargons. i.e Divergents, setup, confirmations etc.

#72, “Have competing priorities during the time schedule on this Thursday, your input needed to fit in schedule.” because you have other priorities so am I. That is why I suggested why not meet at scorebot as I am there more often.

    Dennis

  51. Susan Tan,
Glad you had a good time at the meeting at Han’s and at the disco too I presume. You were dancing very well with James. :-)
Hope to see you both at some of our activities.

  52. Steven,#94
“Thou doth protest too much” hehe.

Have you ever been married before? If not, you should give it a try. It’s not that bad.

Some marriages don’t make it, some last a little longer. Others, many others, survive and there are many happy couples (or at least they appear so). ;-)

Although I called it quits, I don’t discourage my children from marrying. Without my marriage, I wouldn’t have had two lovely ‘extensions’ of myself. :-)
I still believe in ‘love’. It IS a splendoured thing but marriage is more than that. It takes a lot of hard work and patience to keep it going, by BOTH parties.

Anyway, who was the matchmaker in our midst? I don’t remember anyone being introduced to me as a matchmaker.

  53. Hi Mary C,
The lady’s name is Suwanna Wee. She is an ex-Singaporean who is now an Americano. She’s back here for a course in massage.

  54. Hi Charles Chua,

Haha, so SHE’s the one. I met her but didn’t know she was a match maker.

Regarding the hawthorn, I remember eating some of that. They are very sour aren’t they? Perhaps that’s why they’re good for the cholesterol. I remember my mum telling us when we were kids that we shouldn’t eat too much of that as it would cause us to be thin and weak.
I don’t have high cholesterol, probably borderline. My doctor advised me to lose a few kgs, which I did, to bring my level back to ‘normal’.
Thanks for offering me the hawthorn slices, but it’ll be sometime more before the next SHC activity and I’m sure they won’t keep till then.
I’ll look for some at the tidbit stall in Whitesands. In fact, I love those things, but decided to stop because of the sugar content.

  55. Hi Dennis at #97

Was waiting for your response that you could demonstrate your TA during the monthly meeting at the Hans last Thursday(see #57 and rest).

If you were not ready, I would not consider alloting time to your demonstration as there were other things I could do.

    Cheers,

  56. Hi Dennis at #97

You offered several times to demonstrate your TA in this and other threads. The latest is in this thread at The Hans last Thurs.

I told you to show any one or all the 7 companies and you did not respond.

If you have the chart on any one of the seven companies I mentioned, then show one chart and illustrate 3 key TA indicators. You missed the time line again.

TA education and experience are everywhere.

    TY anyway.

    Cheers,

  57. Hi AndrewK, I believe to let nature take its course. You are right “TA education and experience are everywhere”. My is no difference.

So lets leave it for now. Good luck to your TA experience.

  58. Dear Dennis and Andrew,

A is a hard core fundamentalist. It is hard to talk about a TA experience when you can hardly bring oneself to accept the basic premises. It becomes too much of an academic excercise for everybody. Not so fruitful.

Help is nigh at hand. The test for everybody is in the bottom-line and performance.

On Fri 20 April at SGX, we had the inaugural First Singapore Automated Forex Trading Meetup Group. We announced in our presentation to the group

    (a) The formation of a Automated Trading Programming Academy – this is for experienced programmer and traders. If you are a trader without programming skill we can team you up with a programmer in a team to produce your own algo system.

    (b) The first ever “Man vs Machine” Competition -you can compete manually or using semi or full algo’s. This is Formula One race to the finish in real market. Like Poker World Championship but with small limited real capital at stake. No holds barred. So here’s your chance to strut out your toughest, meanest, deadliest WWC (Weapons of Wealth Creation) against the world’s best.

Fundamentalists as well as TA players can participate. In the spirit of the competition, you are like two swordsmen (??) learning from each other through a friendly duel.

Fun, fun, fun…..Ample Time and Money. Anyone game?

There is a preview this Tues and Thu at Scorebot 7 pm.

  59. Hi KT

    You are presumptuous again.

    1) Dennis offered a few times to share with me his TA analysis.

The latest was to demonstrate to me last Thursday (17 Apr) at the Hans. You and he did not turn up though both of you signed up.

Was prepared to hear him out and gave him 7 companies to choose from. I asked whether he was ready two/three days before last Thursday meeting at The Han Cafe. No response.

    2) If you want to show me your expertise, please tell me the operating facts, parameters and principles of your systems which I had requested from you a few times in the other thread started by you : Tryst with Money

I need prior knowledge of the parameters, principles and facts of your systems before meeting to view your demo. Not keen otherwise.

    3) Any good value investor looks at : a) fundamentals with deep and sound financial literacy, b) market behaviours, liquidity and momentum, commonly called technical analysis (TA) and c) economics, business and geopolitical trends, factors and policies.

    4) Would you like to share the final outcome of ATM prize that Alicia won last month (15 Mar 2008)during SHC flea market/monthly meeting? How much was her prize with your ATM ?

TY for your offer to view your ATM again.

    Cheers,

  60. Dennis H @ #97

I fully agree with you that TA cannot be explained in writing. One has to look at the charts to understand.

I am interested in your trading software. Perhaps we can exchange our notes on TA. I’ll share with you which indicators work best for me. I’d like to learn more on Gann Analysis if you have their trading software.

    Thanks.

  61. Hi Eleanor Chan,
#107, It takes a TA enthusiast to understand TA and really appreciate its implication.

If you don’t mine just reveal what are the indicators you are using for currency trading and maybe why you use them.

The software I am using is MetaStock. A professional charting Tools. Basically TA works on any instrument but more so technically with Currency because there is hardly any Gap and a continuous trading OTC market.

Gann Analysis is very close to Fibo am I right. So you look at critical Fibo levels
    for support and resistance.

Its my pleasure if time permits and we can exchange some pointers. I will need to find Data(EOD) for currency or export from any source and import into MS format.

By the way, remember your friend whom you introduce to me during the SHC flea Market at scorebot. How can I contact him.

    DennisH

  62. Hi Eleanor at # 107 & 108

You are referring to Gann Analysis (GA) or Gann Studies.

This TA technique is market time factor pattern studies with three prime factors :a) price, time and range.

GA/S rests on two parameters : a) markets are cyclical in nature, b) markets are geometric in design and in function.

Mr Gann predicted correctly, made himself USD50M during the depression period and the two world wars. Then a house could be bought at US1,500.

If any of your systems can show above, would be glad to view.

    Cheers,

  63. Hi Mary Chan,

We have almost forgotten after so long we have not been to club. Our steps are not refined and I think we did not hit on the right notes.

Thanks for the compliment. I will work on that. Are you attending the 8-9 & 9-10p class on Friday in Clementi conducted by Maggie. We will be there this Friday.

Will you be attending the activity on the 7th June where there will be a lots of social dancing. I have already enrolled. Hope to see u there!

  64. Hi Eleanor at 107&108 and Dennis at 109 :

Re my comments at # 110

    Like to view your Gann Analysis on forex pairs a) USD/Euro, b) USD/SGD, c) USD/Yen and d)SGD/CHF and e) SGD/AUD

Are you game for next week presentation/demo at Scorebot or at The Hans after 7pm ?

    Cheers,

  65. Dennis @# 109

We are definitely talking on the same waveline. I’m also interested in KT’s algo trading.

My friend will be in touch with you soon. He remembered the meeting with you. Do you need him to do some analysis for you? He has a Master in Economics.

  66. Hi Eleanor Chan,

May be you can email me your friend contact.
Just interested in like-minded person and explore any possibilities.

TY for the affirmation that we are on the same wave length.

  67. Hi Eleanor @ 115

Would you like to have your friend with MA (Econs) to give his input on what Dr Tony Tan said recently and mentioned on Tuesday, 22 April ST page Home 23:

” World may face deepest recession in 30 years”.

    1) What are the financial and economic implications to Singaporeans?

    2) What practical solutions are there for Singaporeans to ride out any adversaries ?

    3) Where there are dangers, there too are opportunities, what are the pitfalls to avoid, and opportunities to watch out and act upon?

    Warmest regards

    Andrew

  68. Hi Dennis

Sorry that I missed your Sat meeting because I don’t log on to this website daily. Hope the meeting was fruitful.

It’s best to either text or email me. I do clear my emails daily but not during working hours though.

Will catch up with you again.
