  1. Please include me in the maybe lists as unfortunately my 94 year mum is still in hospital and the uncertainty of her being discharge.

Doug, borrow this post to share when having to be warded at Bright Vision Hospital (this is rehab community hosp). I sincerely urge everyone please reconsider seriously in choosing this hospital as we had very bad experience.

As a result of a fall, my mum had internal bleeding in the head and was warded in SGH on September 29 and upon discharged was transferred to Bright Vision Hospital for rehab on Friday Oct 11 and was admitted at about 1030 hr. The standard of patient care was atrocious beyond words. In fact, the neighboring patients too had loads of grievances.

On Saturday Oct 12 at about 1500 hr she had high temperature and was gasping for breath…..momentarily she appeared on the journey GOING HOME. The On-Call Doctor attended and IMMEDIATELY recommended she be transferred back to SGH. As usual we went through the A & E procedure and was warded for infection in the chest now this is in additional to the neuro situation ……….. please pray for her and the wisdom of the doctors to administer care for her recovery. Thanks

Anyway, at an appropriate time I am considering to share the experience in Bright Vision Hospital in greater details in the social media.

    1. Hi Tony
      Welcome to the cycling club.

      Hi Solomon
Glad that you are able to join us, see you this Saturday

      Hi Susan Tan
Bike rental charges for 2 hours are between $6-8, it also depends on the type of bike rented

  4. Please register me if this ride is not more than 25 Km as Aunty here cannot ride too far or too fast, also I need to rent a bike (do they have a foldie? I like to buy a better bike so interested to test it out)……….Thanks Freda

    1. Hi Fredalim
Have registered you because the uncle and aunty here don’t cycle fast and furious or over a distance of 25km.

No foldies are on rental but you may
check out those foldies used by some of us.

  5. Oh yeah I have make it even thought I am the last one who reached the destination, this is the first time I cycle for the long journey and I was happy that I achieved it and enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the ways of cycling.

Thanks to the EO Douglas, Lily and all cyclists wait for me patiently at the meet point and especially thanks
to Boon Liang his guidance lead me
    the ways.

    Thank you

    Judy

I enjoyed the ride……..my body and mind replenished.
Cheers to all who were there yesterday

  8. Thank you all for the support. We were very fortunate to have such cool weather.

Special thanks to : Douglas, Yew Kwong, Boon Liang, Julian & Solomon. who helped lead and coaxed the riders on. A pity Paul, Peggy and Nina couldn’t make it to MBA and had to turn back from GBB.

In future, we will try to do a 3-stage (short, medium and long distanct) ride whenever the group is so that riders can choose the stage they are comfortable with.

Also, there were comments that we should end with a meal. And yes, it was our norm to end with dinner after the ride but due to the overwhelming response and the varied levels of the riders, not everyone return at the same time. Very sorry about that. We will endeavour to plan better in future.

Meanwhile, here’s the poem read before the start of our ride. A prayer was also said but we will omit it here.

LIFE IS LIKE A BUS STOP.
A PAUSE IN WHAT’S TO BE.
A RESTING PLACE ALONG THE ROAD
    TO SWEET ETERNITY.

    WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT JOURNEYS;
    DIFFERENT PATHS ALONG THE WAY.
WE ALL MEANT TO LEARN SOMETHING,
    BUT NEVER MEANT TO STAY.

OUR DISTINATION IS A PLACE, GREATER THAN WE KNOW.
FOR SOME THE JOURNEY IS QUICKER,
FOR SOME THE JOURNEY IS SLOW.
AND WHEN THE JOURNEY FINALLY ENDS,
WE WILL CLAIM GREATER REWARD AND EVERLASTING PEACE.

REST WELL JANET, TOGETHER WITH THE LORD YOU’LL STAY.

  9. Sorry to all for giving up near Pebble Bay Condo.
Nina suffered a fall, tired I guess. 40 years ago last cycled.
Gratitude to Boon Liang and all for the concern of our well being.
Special tks to Yew Kwong for his patient and care of Nina throughout.
We had dinner together and sent her (Nina) home.
    She is ok.

  10. Anyone encountered barking dog during a walk or ride? The friendly type who run and bark to spur you to “Chiong” for your life? One appear in front of me early this morning at 6 am………I reali reali must decide soon on a better bike imaging how I speed earlier thinking the dog was after me. Anyway, I enjoyed the sunrise and was reali reali glad to get back home before the Sun blast………..have a wonderful day everyone.

  11. Hi Fredalim
Your encounter reminds me of the school days when I rode the old and heavy
bike to and from school. More often than not, I was chased by the kampong dogs which seemed to get kicks out of the play. The faster I wanted to outbid them, in fact it spurred them to hasten the chase.
But soon I realised that we human beings were much smarter and bigger in size
why should we be intimidated by them.
So I employed a different strategy. I got down from the bike and stood my ground and let them know who had the upper hand. Surprisingly the change really worked.
I hope the episode will help you. But of course if you were to meet an Alsatian dog, you would be at a loss vis-à-vis such an viscous attacker.
    Cheers
    Robert Ong

  12. Hello Robert

Haha so you were chased by “Xiao Kao” (mad dog) before. Yeap, learn that I shall never ride this patch of d road in the dark and alone. Seriously, no way will I get down the bike to face these stray dogs, nearly had a heart attack……….

    Cheers
