SHC own sms server

We are in the process of launching our own sms server.  The SMS number will be published soon.

With the sms server, members can send and receive information interactively via their mobile telephone. Only members, whose mobile telephone numbers are registered with the club, can use this service.  Non-registered mobile numbers will not be recognised by the sms server.

We hope that with this new service, more members can easily participate in club ativities.  Today, most SilverHairs carry a mobile telephone.  The service will be available 24 hours.

More information will be available at a later date.  Estimated date of launch: Jan 2008.

Dolly’s short-cut is in a style called Dolly’s style (not internationally recognised but still can understand by some people), but no matter how, it’s good to learn more.

Dolly, when can you give us a private tuition on your short-cut skill? Free?

    See you on TT

  4. Wow, another info tech…that’s another plus point for joining SHC!!!. Think this is currently happening in schools. Whn son was in school, not such thing yet.

Btw, I too want tuition on the e language. I take quite a bit of time reading Dolly’s and YewKwong’s messages…sometimes I give up :-))) “liak boh que” catch no ball sometimes :-)))

  6. I went into the website and nearly “heng ker”..(fainted). Think Geography, History or any subject is much easier. I am hopeless for symbols. Whn young wanted to be a secretary, so went for shorthand classes. Gave up after a short while. The “taugeh jee” makes me go crazy :-))

  7. Hi June

Perhaps U can start wif e most common n simple ones. Or better still, DIY ur own but can b understood by others.

I once learnt shorthand in sch 4 2 yrs. Gv up aft 2nd tot tat co will nvr employ male secretary onli 2 realise later on tat I was wrong.

  8. Hi everybody,

In the last few months, we have done extensive tests with our SMS server in India, and it is now ready for our use. We shall soon put it to the test in Singapore.

Our SMS server will be programed to respond to key words. When a member sends a SMS to the club, the SMS server recognises these key words, and will interactively respond the member via SMS.

This server is also able to broadcast monthly updates via SMS. Initally, English updates will be sent, although the system can send Chinese updates too. There are many applications, and we shall use them over the coming months. Keep in touch.

  9. From now on, you can send messages to the forum via SMS. Please use this format:

Send “SHCNEWS text fullname” to 9178-7097.

Rules apply. Valid for recognised SHC members telephone numbers only.

  10. This month, we started sending our SMS updates on the month’s activities, to SHCians who have requested for SMS updates. If you like to receive SMS updates (limited to a stabdard SMS line), please send your SHC registered name to 9178-7097. If you read the SilverHairsClub.com regularly, this service is not for you.

Do note this SMS system is pretty intelligent, but the programmer is stupid, and will thus not respond any other request. Have fun.
