Meet up at Changi Beach Club, Sun 16 Dec 2007

Usually, I dont spend much time in Singapore.  And when I do, I like to find a place to relax.  On this coming Sun, 16 Dec 2007, I am planning to go to the Changi Beach Club.  It has a nice Olympic size pool, and a great facing to Pulau Ubin.  Moons ago, I use to see submarines, with their scopes, swimming left and right below the water.  Better still, the CBC members do not come in on a Sunday morning, so it’s quiet and relaxing.  We can have a good chat, under the morning sun.

You are invited to come.  Just bring your own nasi lemak and coffee.  The F&B don’t usually have food so early in the morning. And, they dont usually allow to, so we have to be discreet, no potluck.

If you like to come, just add your name here.  Come anytime between 0800 and 1300 hrs.  No formalities, just bring your trunks or costumes, googles and suntan lotion.  You can take a bus to Changi Village, and have a slow walk in along the boardwalk.  Watch out for the dolphins though.

  1. Terence,
I thought the CBC is a membership entry only? Do we have to pay to go in? Won’t they ask for membership details? Swimming? Nonmembers allowed to do that? I’ve seen that place and it’s a nice relaxing place.
That boardwalk is nice too. Sign me on.

There is the civil service club nearby am I correct? They allow nonmembers in at a fee I think.

  2. Terence, you hv suggested that, among others, comers shd bring googles.

No knowing what googles are, I checked the dicks-on-mary and the nearest word “googly” says “a moving ball which seems to turn in a certain directionn but actually turns the opposite direction”.

I am curious to see how yr googly looks like so pls sign me in together with nasi, lemak & kopi………….

  3. Aiyah Tim.
Googles, goggles. I’m sure everybody understood lah.Hahaha.

Btw, TERENCE, how to be discreet when eating outside food? Do they have any on sale there at such an early hour?

  4. There’s no law on the sanctity privacy yet but then the practice of leaving one alone & undisturbed when one locks oneself in the cubicle of a loo has not been changed.

So that shd answer the question “how to be discreet?” whether it’s outside food one eats or if one eats up an entire elephant………

  5. Hi Terence,

Please sign me in. How can I miss out on this with, Tim and Mary going. Tim, now is your chance to do the balancing act on your lap. You’ve waited a long time for this, eh!

Tim, will bring you sandwiches and coffee. How about that? Or must you have nasi lemak?

How to be discreet when eating a box of nasi lemak? I cannot imagine. With sandwiches you can try and eat it out of your pocket. Cannot imagine doing that to nasi lemak! You’ll get a pocketfull of rice!

So you’ll abandon your bedminton for us two lovely ladies!

  6. Lina,
You can have Tim’s whole lap to yourself. I won’t compete with you.
Aiyah, he may have signed up, but may not turn up or perhaps do another disappearing act when the time comes.
I don’t want to risk being told off, so I am not going to bring anything, preferring to patronise the outlet there.
Besides, Terence hasn’t got back about whether non members are allowed in at all.

  7. Hi Gingko,
Sorry, didn’t realise you were online. My girl was using the laptop when you said “hi”. How have you been? Will you be a t Bali Lane tomorrow? See you there if you are.

  8. Hi Mary,

Non-members can come. If you come, I shall pick up the entrance fee. Only condition, everybody should swim.

I think there is a limit on the number of people, but I shall check.

    Terence

  9. Terence,
I would love to go but why the condition about swimming? Can’t we sit and relax by the pool side? I haven’t swum for quite a while and don’t know if I still can.

  10. Hi Mary,

I logged in to check my mail early this afternoon and noticed you were online, so just said “hi”. Didn’t have time to chat ‘coz had to rush off to meet my family. Sorry! Only to log on to SHC forum now to learn the bad news about Benson Koh. This is terribly shocking. Am still trying to get over it.

I will be attending the meeting at Bali Lane tomorrow, but will arrive only after 5pm. Hope to see you there.

  11. Hi Terence,
I would very much like to join all of you to swim at Changi SC on 16/12.

    pls. register me.

I am very shocked to hear abt Benson.
    Pls. update us.
    Thanks again.

    Thanks.

  12. Lina, thanks for yr food offer which shd cure this chronic tremble of my laps.

Mary, I think I shd have a bit more time in the day now.

What a sheer coincidence last Friday when bro Benson fell into a coma, my chairman told me that he was closing down my department as it made more financial sense to out-source.

Yes, in life many things are unpreditable. You can be among the best but you may not get the best. Accept it. This is life. And so be it.

  13. Yes I agree with Tim that in life many things are unpredictable.
Just like our Bro Benson – though he looks strong and healthy and above all “Jovial” yet he had to leave us so soon. He lied motionlessly and looking at him make me feel that life is indeed unpredictable. May God bless him as he make his next journey ahead of all of us.
Let’s live life to the fullest and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
Hope to see all of you at Changi Beach Club.
Cheers and have a nice day.

  14. Dear Terence

Will drop-in the pool if the sun-shine on 16 Dec. Will still swim across if the rain flooded Changi Beach. Look forward to meet all for Sunday breakfast with Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarik. Ta-ta.

  15. Terence,
I will be there. I’ll bring my swimming stuff, but don’t know if I will swim. Still haven’t quite got over my cold. If the water is cold, then I won’t.
I’ll see what I can bring for breaky.

  16. Hi everybody, no need to register. I take all those who have said coming, as coming. So see you, moon or sun. I shall register your names at the counter.

  17. Terence,

Thank you for a lovely time. I enjoyed your company and the company of all of you, Caroline, Sarah, Lina and Tim.
We had some rather interesting chats about life didn’t we?

The club is a nice place and I hope to be invited again, hehe.

  18. Hi Terence,

Today the weather was good and you folks had a wonderful time this morning. I missed the fun :( May I have your permission to use this thread to welcome back Lina!

Hello Lina, how’s your holiday in Japan. Any plan for this festive season, going to any countdown? :)

    Ah Nee

  19. Ah Nee, sure, go ahead.

We had a windy Sunday morning pool size breakfast, followed by a few laps in the olympic size pool. I guess Changi Beach Club may be difficult to access, but I hope to attract more members there to enjoy the rustic view of Pulau Ubin, a bird’s-eye view of the water channel infront of Changi village and the fresh air.

Importantly, we enjoyed the company of one another. I look forward to see other SHC members who did not come today. See u next year.

  20. Hi Ah Nee,

You should have come to CBC. It was fun especially with Tim and Caroline around. Could have given you a lift if I had known you were interested.

Weather was very good in the teens. Spend my birthday at Disneyland. Went on the usual bullet train, Universal Studios, see Mt. Fuji and went to all 3 spas fully naked. Getting very used to it now after that first and apprehensive first one in Korea.

As for the countdown, how I wish I can join you girls, but have to do it from my balcony, (oops, no balcony) like Caroline.

Waiting for Susan’s return. Then we go and celebrate our birthdays. You coming?

  21. Good morning Lina,

It’s true, especially with Tim & Caroline present, surely full of laughter and fun! :)
ha..ha….haaa…about the spas, thats remind me of my Korea trip with Norlinda 3 yrs ago, we also did that. My gosh! now thinking about it, we brave ourselves doing it, luckily no singaporean around……ha…ha…haaaaa…Ok, we shall meet again when Susan is back, shall we call all the buddies as well. :)

    Ah Nee

  22. Hi Ah Nee,

Might as well celebrate Dan and Yew Kwong’s birthday together too. Maybe hold it at a later date. No hurry! Let Susan get her rest first.

  24. Thanks Terence, for the lovely day at CBC. I would love to go again. Yes there was great company. Food always taste better if you eat it by the seaside. It was a pleasure to talk with you too Lina. No one will be bored with cheeky Tim around.
