SHC monthly gathering – Thurs, 17 Jan 2008

Here’s the date for the first SHC monthly gathering of 2008.  This event replaces "Stars in Concert" which has been postphoned.

  • Date: Thur 17 Jan 2008
  • Time: 1500 – 1730 hrs (Non-working SilverHairs); 1730 – 2100 hrs (Working SilverHairs)
  • Place:  Hans Cafe at Great Eastern.
  • Event Organiser:  L H Jie

To the new year.  More details in December.  Meantime, please keep this date in your diary.  Let’s us know if you are making CNY kuehs or tarts.  If you have plans for raw fish, share a date.  Any quiet trips to JB for shopping to buy CNY goodies.

    What about Christmas? Anything in the air? Like a party? A countdown gathering to usher in the New Year?

    Then again, I may not be in town, but it might be fun to have an impromptu SHC gathering somewhere nice.

  4. A Chinaman brought up in Mesopotamia and raised by the Persians but migrated to Xmas Island will dress up as Santa Claus and lug a bagful of coconut crabs for us to stuff into turkeys for a grand xmas feast……….that’s the “Ooops” in Terence posting – he cant foretell i am going to tell…

    I suggest that we find a place where we can do dancing,karaoke and some “yam seng” to enjoy Christmas and usher in the New Year as we have such a big group of SHCians with varied inetersts.

    I am sure many SilverHairs would be having their festive holidays in Singapore. Some may be going abroad.

    Maybe I shall ask you to be brave. Would you raise your hand, and make a firm suggestion for a Christmas event. Pick a date, a time and a place. Invite other SilverHairs to join you, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

    And, if you are ready, start a new Post. I encourage you to give it a go.

  9. Hi Terence,

    I marked Jan 17,2008 date on my diary for the next SHC gathering as you have suggested. If SHC members are interested, I will be able to offer teaching the art of making decorative fans. These fans are made from Ang Pows and can be used for the Lunar New Year home decorations. I shall bring a sample to the gathering to show off my art work. Let me know what you think??

    LH Jie has accepted the role of Event Organiser for the 1st SHC monthly gathering of the year. The place will still be at Hans cafe, Great Eastern, China Square.
