Thank you for getting the CNY lunch going. I won’t be able to join you, so I would leave you to decide on the Tim Sum and Lo Hei menu. Have fun.

    Terence Seah

  3. Hi Roland

Our company will be closed for CNY till 15 Feb. On 16 Feb. everyone who is not out of town MUST report for duty for the ‘opening year’. So I won’t be able to join your Tim Sum Lunch. Very regretable as I was hoping to switch duty with my colleague – now, not possible.

Thanks for being the EO for this event, hope you folks have a great time.

(I will be able to join the cycling @ ECP.) So cyclists, see you after lunch. :)

  4. Hi Roland,
Looking forward to the lunch and sharing CNY greetings/celebration with old and new members!

    Hi Yew Kwong,
Many thanks for the kind assistance.

    Best regards,
    Grace Kok

  5. Chris, all my life I hv been innocent. No more after you set me thinking what difference did “paid” and “give” make, and then realising the difference………….

  6. alamak! TimL… didnt wanna u ‘spot’ yet mmmmmh. Glad of the opportunity to enlighten U… a small ‘wow’ 4 me. I’ll njoy the sec..TQ ;) :)..okidote! … cheers!

  7. Hi Roland,

Thank you for being EO of CNY lunch. I won’t be able to attend as I’ll be overseas on this date, so sorry….have to withdraw my name from list.

Wishing you and all SHCians a “PROSPEROUS AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR”

    Best regards,Bira

  8. Hello Roland,

Please take note of fund transfer Ref:6851 of $40 to DBS Saving Plus A/C:023-2-036239. This payment is for Ann To and myself. Thanks!

    Ah Nee

  9. Hello all the Diners, I seldom go to Toa Payoh, may get lost in this big HDB estate. Me, “mountain tortoise”, can any one tell me the best route from Hougang to Toa payoh. Also which is the nearest car park to Fortunate Restaurant? Apa macam ….. after eating, from Toa Payoh, how to go to East Coast for cycling? Help! :(

    Ah Nee

  10. Hi Ah Nee,

There is a big car park where Fortunate Restaurant is. Ample parking space. After that come to my place in Bishan and I will bring you there. Or I come to restaurant to show you the way. Aiyah, so many SHCians there, why you worry.

  11. Ah Nee,

The nearest car park is just behind the Toa Payoh National Library. You entered by Toa Payoh NTUC and drive to the opposite direction of the supermarket just behind the Toa Payoh National Library. This restaurant is just above the Shop and Save supermarket. Take Toa Payoh National Library as your bearing and you should not get lost.

Ann – if you take the train alight at Toa Payoh, exit station by turning right, up the staircase you will find Cheers. At this point walks towards block 178. This will lead you in the direction of MacDonald. Just behind, you will find Shop and Save Supermarket and the restaurant is above.

Ladies, may I strong suggest that you look up at the road directory for further assurance. The above guidance is based on my previous walks in the area and I do hope the Shop and Save market is still there. Use Toa Payoh National Library as your bearing. It will be safe.

    Cheers, Grace Kok

  12. Hello Grace Kok,

You are wonderful, thanks for the infos, will look out for Toa Payoh National Library as my guide. My sense of direction is no good…I am familiar on the eastern part of Singapore only. Also am wondering why bring 6 Oranges each ????for exchange. Normally during CNY, we go everywhere with 2 oranges only mah, must carry 6 oranges in a plastic bag….heavy leh!

    Ah Nee

  13. Dear Friends,
Bringing 6 oranges is just my suggestion. The reason is, when you are approached by 2 or 3 people you can exchange with them without waiting to receive oranges before you can do the exchange. If you find it “too heavy” to carry 6 oranges, then bring 2.
By the way, the bank account belongs to our President, Terence Seah, as he had volunteered to take charge of the money.
Christina Chan, as always, is ready to lend a helping hand and so she has helped us book the venue and will be helping me in selecting the menu.

  14. Dear Terence,

juz tfd $100 ref 1544545626; $20 ref 1544550989; ie., total $120 for Peng Peng, LH Jie, TimL, DaisyP, Eileen Lee & myself.
    Thanks.

  15. Hi Terence/Roland

Have just tranferred thru DBS ATM today at 12.20pm the princely sum of S$20 to account 023-2-036239 Ref: 7866.

I shall be bringing two oranges with me and not six. We would have enough to start an orange fight (rather like the Italian tomato festival) if everyone brings 6 oranges each!

    Thanks for the arrangements!

  16. YK,
Can I appoint you as the “Registrar for oranges” so that you can number e oranges in pairs according to their sizes bcoz none of us are as capable as you or even have an inkling as how to go about it? I’m sure all attendees will support me to appoint you for e job! LOL!

  17. Roland

Tks n I gladly accept tat appointment. So we shall categorize them into 3 sizes. Large, medium n regular. Sounds like McDonald’s fastfood.

  18. normally, I chose not to fiddle with the computer during weekends but well….

Roland (my sms ths am) the 3 guys I had lasso in are Edward Lim, Michael Lee & Robin Sun. Edward has passed me the $. Please register them, also Bernadette. If I recall correct her surname is Chung. Once I’m home, will check that I’ve got all 4 names rite and also make the transfer to Terence snst.

    Terence #37: I’ve sent u a separate email.

    TQ, ChristinaCL Chan

  19. Hi Terence/Roland,

I’ve juz transferred $40 to your Account 023-2-036239 (DBS Saving Plus) being payment for Gingko Tay and Veronique Lee. Transaction Ref: 1546282992.

  20. Hi Roland

Will like to join the festivities, only pending my confirmed travelling schedule.

Can I register tentatively, to confirm and pay around 5 Feb ?

    Cheers, Andrew

  29. Hi, if you have paid, please let me know if your name is not listed as PAID. This will help me in checking against the list. Thank you.

    Terence Seah

  30. Terence,
I’ve to teach that weekend, so won’t be able to attend. Somehow, I’ve been listed as paid, which I haven’t done.
A Happy and Prosperous New Year to you.

  31. I wish to join the CNY dimsum but being a newly minted member of SHC and joining SHC event for the 1st time, can someone help me to register as I tried but failed to do so ? Once I am confirmed for DimSum, I will pay $20 online.

Thx much/ best … Alicia LK Lim

  32. Hi Roland

I am sorry I cannot make it for the lunch this Saturday.

Chian Wah will take my place.

Many thanks for arranging and I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Caroline Gee

  33. Unable to recall who had popped the question recently “how to get to Fortunate Restaurant?”… my apologies for late reply.

ps: GraceK had given the direction #25.

Additional info: at Toa Payoh MRT go out via Exit C, go up the steps, in front on your left is Blk 175; take a RIGHT turn.. walk along Blk 183.

After 2-3mins straight ahead you shall see the word ‘Library’. Walk on the left side of the Library. At the other end is Blk 181. By now you should see ShopNSave & on the left is KopiTiam. In between these two is a stairway to Fortunate Restaurant.

See you on 16Feb… ta ta

    Regards, ChristinaCL Chan

  34. Hi Terence/Roland,

Just spoken to Roland today that my UOB transaction failed as I was being notified by UOB and away during the CNY holidays. Please refer to #69, and delete my name as PAID, and due to compassionate reasons, I am unable to attend this Sat.

Do let me know if I should make the $20 payment since the CLUB has to meet the 50 pax criteria.

    Sorry the inconvenience.

  35. Dear Roland

I will take her place if you are OK to meet criteria with caterers. Will take this opportunity to chat with Terence too.

Susan , want me to pay to you directly in cash?

    Cheers, Andrew

  36. Dear Roland

Since Susan’s e-transaction failed, OK to pay you in cash this Sat? Assuming, it is OK to take her place at this hour.

    Cheers, Andrew

  37. Caroline,
Chian Wah cannot take your place as she is already one of the registered participant and Dan Huang has paid for her.
    Margaret and William,
We are trying to find replacements for the two of you too.

  38. Hi Andrew,

Thanks for replacing me, appreciate your kind gesture! You need not pay me cos’ my e-transaction failed.

Anyway, do enjoy your tim-sum lunch!

    Cheerio!
    Sue

    Cecilia

  40. Hi! Cecilia,
It was a great pleasure to organise the CNY Tim Sum Lunch for all of you as I encountered very little problem if any. To see all of you in such Good Spirit and Enjoying your meal is reward enough for me. I must thank Christina Chan for the time and efffort she put in to assist me and our Treasurer, Terence Seah, who generously took charge of the finance and saw to any deficit.Thank You All for coming and making this a Memorable Ocassion!

  41. Hi everybody,

Closing of accounts. We booked 5 tables at $170 each. Add 10% service and 7% GST, the total is $1,000.45. Receipt #256403. Collection was $20 per pax.

If there is any difference in your bank transfer or disagreement with the above amount, please raise your comments by 15 March 2008.

At this junction, we give our appreciation to Roland Tong for the organisation and patience, and to Christina Chan for cordinating with the restaurant. Let’s meet again during the next CNY reunion lunch.

    Terence Seah

  42. ChristinaC & RolandT, a Big Thank You !

A side show was seen after the lunch, part of which is reported by Terence @#102 “….At this junction, we give our appreciation to Roland Tong and Christina Chan……..”

Indeed, traffic at the Lor 4/Toa Payoh Central junction came to a standstill when both Terence chose it to thank the lunch organisers, and Roland, lugging his bags of oranges, too chose the junction to sell the fruits there.

  43. Thank you : Roland Tong, Christina Chan, Terence Seah and all behind the scene for organising the annual “Lo Hei” lunch.

Sure, many blessings, abundance in harvest/investing and excellent health to all.

  44. Hi

Was great joining in my 1st ever activity with SHC at your lohei lunch. Thx for all those who organised the event. Sorry I had to leave early to attend another lunch event. Since there are so many of u and being a brand new member, may I suggest each of us wear a name tag at each event for easy identification. Also u know la, many of us Silverhairers are way past 45 so memory not so good, thus name tag will be extremely useful.
Also may I suggest that this comment site (or whatever u call it) is designed in such a way that latest comments appear at the top rather than at bottom of this pg. We save having to scroll down all the way to submit comments ? Any suggestions ?

  45. Hi Alicia Lim,

No need to scroll , just press the End button and you will be diverted straight to the bottom of the pg to submit yr comments.

Would like to meet you in one of the SHC activities.

    Best regards,
    Steven Chan

  46. Hi! Alicia,
Glad you enjoyed yourself at the CNY Tim Sum Lunch. Sorry that you had to leave before I got to your table as I wanted to get to know more of the SHCians. Perhaps we can meet again soon?

  47. Hi Caroline

Perhaps you like to forward the “humorous Woman article” e-sent by Peng Peng to some of them: from age of 8 to 78 in a lady’s life – from alpha to omega stages.
