Riding Passion II

Dear cycling kakis

Rene and I intend to explore the park connectors beginning from Tanah Merah/Bedok area to Pasir Ris PK. This is an extension to the monthly cycling event and for those who feel cycling once a month is not enough.

This could be a long leisure ride of about 2hrs or less. Let us start early and enjoy the exercise.  We are looking for a show of hands.

Can I count- in : Charles, Andrew Kuan,  T.Seah, Tim L . Dennis W.  Alicia,  Ah nee, Daisy P.  Margie, Linda N. Boonliang, Jocye Tan and not forgetting Norlinda, Norlinda-no JB shopping for you.  I believe Yew Kwong will jog along or he has his own bike.

Please include your name If I have miss you.  Suggestions from members are welcom.

  • Date : Feb23
  • Time:08.30hrs
  • Meeting PT: Bus stop beside Tanah Merah MRT stn.

Regards

Rene and Douglas

  8. Thanks for your suggestions, Douglas.

Have varied and core activities including travel schedules, not sure cycling is my permanent exercise at this moment.

Go to gym thrice a week….quite sufficient already to keep fit and healthy.

  9. Poor YK?

Not necessary. He can be as happy as Terence is………….

Btw, the gestation period is much shorter, yeah? Wonder what form it”ll take………egg first and then……………..?

Just thinking of it already excites so Terence, we’ll hv a big bash to celebrate the junior’s first month, at Hooters of cos……….

  11. Hi

I was at McDonald., 3.30pm hoping to join
the cycling group, then I realised that I do not know anybody,, so I cycled around the place for half an hour hoping for to look for a face I have seen at the fan making session. Not successful as the place was very crowded.

  12. Hi Duglas / Rene,

It was my fault to turn up late yesterday. Got mixed up with Changi V and Airshow site, hit the later but had to turn back as I was not sure how far more to take, and also rec’d no reply from Rene. Nevertheless, i enjoyed the ride and met Ah Nee, Norlinda and later Molly/John and Ronald on way back. Thanks for initiating this ride.

I’m keen on the Feb23’s ride, timing is good. My problem is how to meet up at T.Merah? I’m residing @ Hougang and i think it’s nearer for me to go direct to P.Ris. Can anyone of you pls guide me the correct/safer route i shld take, Charles?

Alicia, that was what happen to me the first time i came for the cycling session, please don’t be discougaged, i hope to see u sometime soon?

    Cheers / Joyce

  13. Hi Joyce

Thanks for the encouragement. Hope to
see you on 23/2. Anyway, I cycled to and fro
from McDonald to Tanah Merah with my friend.

So how did you manage to meet up with the
    group eventually?

    Regards
    Alicia

  14. Hi cycling kakis

Last Sat’s long distance ride from McDonald to Changi Village and back by the Magnificent 7 consisting Rene, Lina, Charles, Andrew, Dennis, BoonLiang and I were very interesting, testing and challenging.

For the convenience to those who don’t own personal bike, we have decided to change the time and venue. The new Time and Venue:

Meeting Pt: ECP McDonald bike rental shop
Time: 12.30pm and bike off at 1300hrs sharp

We can choose one of the 3routes(park connectors)

Route 1. From McDonald-Tanah Merah-Bedok-Tampines-Pasir Ris and back (est.4hrs with rest)

Route 2. We continue from route 1: Pasir Ris-Loyang-Changi village-changi park connector and back to McDonald (est.5hrs with rest)

Route 3. This route was used last Sat Feb16.
From McDonald-changi park connector-changi village and back (est. 4hrs with rest)

This is an extension to the monthly ride and for those who feel riding once a month is not enough.
    Regards

  15. Alicia Soh @15

Regret to hear what your have encountered last Saturday. I didn’t see your registration on YK’s cycling Post. Otherwise, I would have get your mobile no and make a special meet arrangement since you have not meet any of us or can’t remember some faces at the fan making session.

NVM, we see you again next round. Will email you my mobile no.

    Cya!
    Rene

  16. Joyce Tan @16

Not at all. Sori to have left you behind as I have set latest start off time at 3:15pm reference YK’s cycling post #54 to ensure those joining the ‘Lo Hei’ dinner will be back on time to Singa Inn.

I did reponse to your sms informing you to go straight and not turn to Aviation Rd, we were waiting for you at Changi V hawker centre. I am a Starhub subscriber, maybe there is some network problem.

When I was back to the Rental bicycle shop before 7pm. I couldn’t find you. You may have left.

Nonetheless, glad that you have enjoyed the ride, alone though.

Transporting a bike from one place to another is always a headache for those without a car or Van. I am still looking for solution to it. Any transport volunteer, please?

Look forward to the next ride with you.

    Take care and cheers
    Rene

  17. Douglas,

Thanks for updating the new time/venue to accomodate more enthusiastic cyclists.

    All,
Logistics issue is always a challenging task but we shall overcome it. Let’s embark on the option route(s) together.

    Cheers
    Rene

  18. Dear Rene

Will try the full course provided have a quality bike.

This Saturday afternoon from 1pm – OK provided can rent a reasonably good bike, otherwise half course distance will suffice with me.

    : )) Andrew

  19. Any chance of an riding the earlier timing 8:30am. Afternoon heat may slow down some riders, Ya? I’m ok tho but just concern for others who may wish to join but change of mind. Douglas, Pls msg me your mobileph to 96177266. Thx.

  20. Hi boonliang

Venue/Time has been changed due to logistic reason. The most convenience place is at McDonald. We need to accommodate kakis who works in the morning and for those who don’t own personal bike.

Could we plan another long interesting ride for April, maybe from Tg Pengerang to Kg Sungei Rengit.

  21. Dear Douglas

Ya, I will be at McDonald this Sat. btw 12.30pm – 12.45pm.

Looking fwd to tomorrow’s trip and also to
    discuss future trips.

    cheers
    alicia

  27. Hi Douglas,

It was a Saturday afternoon well spent! You are such a good leader who’d guided us patiently and helped us go for extra miles. I didn’t know i’m capable for this distance and now i realise we can take on more challenges.

I really enjoyed the whole session and am still beaming with excitment. The scenic park connector, nice food and most of all, the companionship. Thanks to Ng, Dennis, Boonliang, Ronald & Alicia… and hooray… Douglas.

Don’t leave me out the next cycling session, i’ll be there.

Thanks & Cheers / Joyce Tan

  28. Hi Douglas

Thanks for organising the enjoyable cycling trip, the patience, motivation and sharing with
the group your knowledge of the tree @Bedok connector. It was an enjoyable afternoon and I
was able to know some of the SHC members. Thanks to the group members for the understanding as they always hear me say “small wheels go first”.

See you all in the next trip.

    cheers, alicia

  29. Hi Dennis#33
wow, You becomes better after the first long distance cycling Yes,you almost give up during your first long distance ride if not for the support and encouragement from BoonLing but we made it to changi village. We were all very happy at the end of the ride. Like Nor said, never underestimate yourself.

Time is of no importance to us, its the joy,the excitement and comradeship that counts becos at the end of the ride, the feelings were unexplainable.

Last sat’s route : ECP MdD-changi coastal park connector-changi point (rest at changi village hawker center)-Loyang way-Tampines connector beside Tampines MRT stn-bedok park connector (rest at Bedok hawker center near the Bedok camp)and back to ECP McD.
Along the way, Ron and Joycle performed line dance at one of the stop. Just beautiful and so relaxing

    The 7 Magnificent riders were Alicia Soh,Joyce Tan,Ron Wei,BoonLiang,Dennis Wee,Ng and I.
Thank you all for making the ride a success. A special thanks to Alicia for the inspiration, determination and encouragement by riding a 12″bike. You make our day.You were just wonderful.

Hi Grace# 34- You and all SHCians who love cycling for exercise are welcome to join and we look forward to your participation in our next long distance ride.

    Andrew K #35 we all miss u,
7 keep poping up, maybe for next ride, we restrict to only 11 ppl so that we could print on the cycling jersey “7-11”

BoonLiang, I don’t have Ron Wei’s email address so I can’t fwd the photo to him. Ron W, could you give us your email so that we could send the photo

    Cheers
