Thanks Tim #264, RonK,
I guess it is always an issue when it comes to money transfers, money payments, etc. Sometimes, there is a question of legality; yet for events to work, in many cases, pre-payment has to be made.
Am aware of the sensitivities, and I do hope that someday we can minimise this concern.

Closing of accounts:
Ronk, thanks for pointing out the error. Let me start again. Hope no errors.
a) Collection:
28 x $100 = $2,800 transport
04 x $75 = $300 kelong overnight
05 x $26 = $130 tompang group
Total collection = $3,230.
b) less:
Kelong stay 32 participants @ S$69 = S$2208.00
Charter of coach for the trip = S$850.00. Original rate was $950.
Entry fee to Tg Leman Jetty @ MR4 x 32 = MR128 or S$58.18 = S$58.18
Total Paid S$3116.18
c) Balance: $3230.00 – S$3116.18 = S$113.82
Receipt number from Hotboys fishing: 82502
As a result of discount of $100 from the coach, there is a +$113.82. To avoid keeping surplus funds from adhoc activities, I would carry this forward to the next monthly activity. Any objections, please raise your hands. No fees is to be collected for the use of this forum.
Account is closed. Anyone who would like the balance credited back to the individual kelonger, please let me know, and it shall be done.
Queries, please raise it before 30 April 2008. Thank you.
Terence Seah
#262 – in theory, where there’s a credit balance, the amount shared shd be equally distributed to all who had paid equal amounts.
If there’s a credit balance in this instance, I’ll go along with RonK’s suggestion i.e. let my share go into the cost of hosting this forum.
Hi all who went on the kelong trip:
Thanks for helping to make this trip an enjoyable one and for putting up with my nitty-gritty ways. Coordinating this event was a lot easier once things got going, and this was largely due to the understanding and cooperation I received from each of you.
I am humbled by the many ‘thank you’s and accolades that came my way. However, as we all played our parts in making this event successful, we all deserve pats on our backs.
Best regards,
Ron Koh
Hi, Terence:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but your figures at #254 seem to differ from what I have, i.e:
Credit:
1) 28 requiring coach transport @ S$100 per head: S$2800.50
2) 4 using personal transport @S$75 per head: S$300.00
3) 5 external individuals on coach @ S$26 per head S$130.00
Total collected S$3230.50
Debit:
Charge for kelong stay -32 participants @ S$69.00 S$2208.00
Charter of coach for the trip to and from Tg Leman S$850.00
Entry fee to Tg Leman Jetty @ MR4 x 32 = MR128 or S$58.18 S$58.18
Total Paid S$3116.18
We should have a credit of S$3230.50 – S$3116.18 = S$114.32
I’m not sure if this is proper or legal as we are not a registered organisation, but subject to verification and the agreement of all who went of the kelong trip, I suggest we contribute the credit – if any – towards the cost of hosting this forum and/or other incidentals that have so far seem to come from Terence’s pockets.
Cheers,
Ron Koh
Hi Terence
In this case, the club refers to yourself as SHC is not a registered entity, yes?
Hi Jeffrey #259,
Thank you for the offer. The club will take care of the difference.
Terence Seah
Hi Terence
Noted that there is a shortfall. It is fair that we make good the difference. Please advise payment. Many thanks.
c) Balance: Balance = $2,838 – $3,003.68 = ($165.68) Receipt number from Hotboys fishing: 82502

Good Morning Roh Koh
Just a note to tell you that I enjoyed the stay at the Kelong. Thank you for your hard work and wonderful/seamless arrangements made for this beautiful Kelong trip. It brings back many invaluable feelings of those good old days which I had. Once again, a big thank you. Cheers and God Bless.
Fong Cheong Kong
Enjoy lah, and bring home all your catch for a fresh meal, OK ?
Hi All Kelongers
Is true, Terence, raining cats n dogs this early morning, so some of us need not have to bathe b4 going to the Kelong. Luckily, for us the rain stops now, just in time for us to get ready to meet at City Hall at 6.30am for the onward journey for a great day at the Kelong.
RonLai
Yeah, it’s raining this morning. Means Ron Koh and all the guys and gals are going to have more fish, sharks and barracudas. Here we come, to the kelong. We will start at City Hall, Robinsons taxi stand; go into Johore via 2nd link and shall return Sunday evening, same place.
If you like to buy our catch, sms Ron Koh or myself at 9270-6000, and we shall advise what we have. Fish auction, cannot wait to sell at the Flea mart. For udates on our catch LIVE from the kelong, read here on this thread.
And, if you have any news to share with us at the kelong, write here. The kelong has an internet live broadcast system. We will be able to read your comments, and reply you too.
Terence Seah
Hi Ron,
Chian Wah will not be able to join us. Her place will be taken over by Oi Cheng.
Calling Lily,
Are we still sharing cab on that morning? Now that d meeting time has been set at 6.30 am, we will need to dep at 6.00 am. Please confirm.
Cheers, Grace Kok
Hi, SB (#246):
It’s anybody’s guess really. We expect to leave the kelong at about 2pm for a half hour boat ride to Tanjong Leman Jetty and a 2.5 hour coach ride to the Causeway. After getting through immigration and customs (and that’s where we face a potential bottle neck), it’s another 20 – minutes back to City Hall MRT. Of course, subject to the agreement of the driver, those who want to may drop off along the way.
At best, I should thing we should reach City Hall by 6.00pm. In a worst case scenario – I don’t want to think about that. :o)
Perhaps it may be best to call home for someone to pick you up after we get through immigration/customs.
Folks: Enough of the ‘thank you’s and praises already, or I may need to get a larger baseball cap for the trip. :o)
Hi Ron
Thanks for all the work you have done on our behalf.
I am wondering, about what time are we expected to be back in Singapore on Sunday 20th and where will the bus drop us? I need to plan my transport back home.
Regards.

Also, Ron, discovered my wife and children have origami interests when they were young.
Saw some of their books on origami.
Remembered my daughter built several models with her artistic talents.
RonK, you hv looked into every detail, every bit for us. We owe you one. And if we dont make it the most memorable of our short trips ever, we owe you 2.
Hi, Terence:
Just a kiasu reminder – we need to pay the fee for entry to the Tanjong Leman Jetty in cash (Malaysian Ringgit). Please have MR132 (MR4 x 33 people) with you for this,
Cheers,
Ron
Dear Ronald
I discovered that my young American tennis partner/neighbour is also an origami “expert”.
You pick your choice : just an offer for your convenience and meaningful fellowship.
Cheers,
Hi, Andrew:
Will deal with the origami sessions after this trip. Still got to drop by your condo to check out the room you mentioned. Will probably need another location that is more centralised, to cater to those living in the west and north of Singapore.
Cheers,

Ronald (Koh)
Well Done, my friend !
After this, hope you are ready with your Origami LOVE !
Warmest regards

Hi RonK
You have done a wonderful job, giving us a whole list of “what to bring” to the KELONG,
leaving out nothing for the imagination, its quite comprehensive, except I have to quote again Terence #228 & your goodself #230 call for punctuality i.e. 6.30AM at the meeting point
(earlier, if possible, so that we can leave in good time).
HAPPY FISHING
RonLai
Thanks, Charles (#235) and Steven (#234), for your confirmation. This makes life a bit easier. :o)
Hi, Ron:
Re #236, thanks for the effort. I managed to get the HP nos of both Dennis and Douglas from another SHCian via sms. Have all the HP nos. now.
Cheers,

Hi RonK
Contacted DennisW, he will e-mail to you his Cellphone number 2nite.

Hi Ron Koh,
The Malaysian custom’s white card is no longer in use and you only need your passport to get to Msia. This has been the case since Chinese New Year. I am very sure the cyclists who went yesterday can confirm this.
Have a safe trip.
Hi Ron Koh,
Yah. We all went into M’sia without whitecards yesterday.
ie I meant the Pengarang Bikers.
It has been abolished about 2 mths. ago to encourage more Sporean tourist $$$.
Hi, all:
Not that I doubt Molly at #225, but has anybody else crossed over to Malaysia recently and can confirm that the white immigration card is no longer necessary?
If confirmed, this would save as some time and effort.
Cheers,
Ron
Calling Dennis Wee and Douglas Chan:
I still do not have your HP numbers re #167. Please respond asap.
To all:
Dennis and Douglas may not accessing this forum for some reason. Can those of you who are able to contact them privately please help out?
Thank you
Ron Koh
Hi all:
As promised, I have drawn up a list of things to bring. The list below is by no means complete or comprehensive, as there is always that nagging doubt that something important has been missed. Let me know if anything else should be included in the list:
Things to bring
Mandatory
1. Passport (with at least 6 months of remaining validity)
2. Some Malaysian currency
3. Some Singapore currency
4. Prescription medication (if taking – sufficient for 2 days)
Toiletries
1. Toothbrush
2. Toothpaste
3. comb/hairbrush (not necessary if you are bald)
4. small bar of soap
5. shampoo (if necessary)
6. Towel
7. Vanity Kit (optional)
In case you get hungry/thirsty on the way
1. A bottle of water.
2. Some snacks/Tidbits
Clothing
1. Night clothes (if you plan on sleeping!)
2. Change of clothes (preferably loose and light coloured)
3 Slippers (if you are wearing shoes up)
4 Swimming trunks (optional – for those intending to swim)
5) Something warm (optional – just in case)
For those intending to Fish*
1. Fishing Rod & reel and/or hand line
2. Various-sized hooks (depending on what you want/hope to catch)
3. Sinkers
4. Clips & Swivels
5. Other artificial lures and tackles (too many to mention in detail)
6. Some spare lines for tying hooks
7. Fish hook degouger or long-nosed pliers (optional)
8. Small pocket knife to cut bait, etc
9. Torchlight
10. A collapsible pail or fish cage and/or large clip and thick nylon line for retaining the fish (optional)
11. Something to pack and bring the fish home (optional – if you think you are lucky enough to get to bring the fish you
‘hope’ to catch home)
* Limited numbers of fishing rods/reels available for rent and hooks/sinkers/swivels, etc are available for sale at Hotboys
Kelong)
Hi, Pearlyn (#229):
Sorry, my memory is a bit foggy these days when it comes to details. But if you can see the facade of the former Capitol Cinema acros the T-junction from the taxi stand/entrance to Robinsons, you are in the right place.
Hi, Terence:
Thanks for reinforcing the need for everyone to get to the meeting point in time. Hotboys actually wanted to pick us up at 6.00am; I asked them to consider picking us up at 6.30am, as there will be those of us who rely until on public transport. They agreed, but warned that this may make getting through Malaysian customs and immigration a bit more difficult because of the expected crowd. So to be in time to catch the ferry to the kelong, it is imperative that we leave at 6.30am SHARP. (I don’t think we want to jeopardise the trip for everyone because of one or two people who are late)
If we can leave earlier, even better.
Maybe to ensure that everyone wakes up in time, maybe you could organise a sort of system among your selected buddies to call each other as soon as you are up, in case one of your over snoozes. :o)
Once we are across the Causeway and have time on our hands, we can stop somewhere for a quick breakfast.
In case anyone misses the coach at the pick up point, we may be able to meet up on the Malaysian side of the Causeway. That is when the ability to make contact via HP would be useful.
Will work on the ‘things to bring’ list later today when I get back.
Cheers,
Ron Koh
Dear Ron,
Thanks for the map – there’s a fountain & a Spinelli sign outside the taxi stand right? Have passed the info 2 Jennifer, Wana & Catherine.
Dear Terence,
Thanks for the offer of lift – is AMK Ave 5 & Toa Payoh Lor 8 near?
Yippy! See you all next Sat. Thks for the efforts in organising the kelong trip. Cheers :)
Hi Ron and other kelongers,
Ron has told us we leave at 6.30am sharp from Robinsons, city all. This is because we need to catch the ferry. To avoid delays, missing the boat, we must leave at 6.30 am, even if anyone call calls in due to waking up late or need to turn around home because passport is still in the safe.
Need your absolute understanding, this timing cannot be flexible.
I plan to leave my hOugang ave 5 home at 5.00am, anybody needs a lift? Must be near near, ok? Then I sleep on the bus.
See u guys and gals. Thank you very much Ronkoh.
Terence Seah
Hi all:
Re my comment at #167, I seem to have the HP nos. of all kelongers except for the following people:
Catherine Yeo
Dan Huang
Dennis Wee
Douglas Chan
Chian Wah
Those of you who are in contact with these people on a personal basis, could you please let them know? Otherwise, I would not be able to communicate with them in cases of emergencies, etc.
Ron Koh
Dear Ron @ #220
Thanks for you response.
No problem, I already changed to a new passport valid for another 5 years.
Regards.

Hi Ron,
Fyi, no more white card is required to enter JB. Just produce your passport at the malaysian immigration counter and make sure it is stamped. This rule was implemented just before CNY. More convenient and time saving.

RonL @ #210, getting Hotboys to sponsor a prize? Well, that’ll be great but then when it’s a prize, it means $ and few bizmen are charitable.
So if want prize but Hotboys dont hv to spend money……………….? Yes, i can think of one………….getting hot with the all 3 boys as the 1st prize, only with 1 as the 2nd prize and I sacricie myself a little….with me as the consolation prize.
KS Singh, look away, dont look at me.

Something to share if you are concerned about the folks being concerned about you, while u are at the kelong.
The folks at home can always send you as many SmS as they like to you at no charge. Any service provider.
And if someone drops you a comment on the SilverHairsClub website, I shall let you know too.
So relax, and enjoy the overnight kelong trip.
Terence Seah
Hi, all:
Recently, someone sent me an email to say that she had hurt herself, and was unlikely to be able to join us for this trip. She wanted to withdraw and requested for a refund.
When I announced that payment for the trip was open (please see my post above), one of the conditions was that, due to conditions stipulated by Hotboys Kelong, all payments once made cannot be refunded. Terence has since paid the deposit and coach fare to Hotboys Kelong. Much as we sympathise with the lady for her unfortunate injury, we are not in any position to refund any payments or part thereof once payments are made.
However, if there is someone else who wants to take the place of this lady, the money from this person can be paid directly to the lady in question. That is the only way I can think of for this lady to get her money back.
If you know of anybody who would like to join the trip at this time, please let me know.
Best regards,
Ron Koh
Hi. SB (Khoo):
Thanks for your HP No.
I am no expert on immigration formalities, but it is a usual for anyone visiting another country to have a passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of entry. I’m not sure if this holds true for PRs. If it does, you may not be able to return to Singapore.
Suggest you check with the Singapore Immigration Department.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Ron
Important Info 4 All

I have placed a sketch map of the City Hall meeting place at http://picasaweb.google.com/tanchooranda/SHC/photo#5185801814055568978, for those who prefer visual directions.
Hi, Pearlynn (#215):
Thanks for the mobile numbers.
Still waiting for the HP numbers of a few more kelongers.

Hi Ron,
Email to you the mobile # for myself as well as Jennifer, Catherine & Wana today.
I think pick up point @ City Hall is more preferred. Noted on the passport – thks! Hope to the confirmed details soon. Cheers ;)
Hi Molly,
We better get your beer, soft drinks and mineral water over at Kota Tinggi as its definitely cheaper than Hotboys. Dont forget to buy our munchy, munchy ya, which we must get over here har. Also, we better buy some fruits like apples and oranges there. Maybe get 1 big watermelon too..ha.ha.. but who’s going to carry?? :( Do you need extra ice box?

Hi, Molly (#211):
There is no restriction if anybody wants to bring their own beer or soft drinks.
Ron Koh
Ron@203
Tks for the info but could not see the pricing for beer and drinks. Rm3(S$1.30)/7 (3.07) per can for drinks/beer is very ex. Guess it will be cheaper if we buy/bring on our own. Is there a restriction that we hv to buy from Hotboy??? Pls adv. Tks.
Hi RonK
It seems after the grand exit of DnD, the Easterly wind is now blowing hot and cool towards Sibu, the Hotboys Kelong, for days of fishing and fun.
Since Terence is giving away a prize for the smallest fish caught and Susan is clamouring for a prize for the biggest fish, I would suggest, why not request Hotboys to sponsor a prize for the biggest fish caught, this will make fishing more interesting abd great fun. A prize can also go to the best “tying of fishing hook”, just a thought.
A hint for the anglers to catch the smallest fish, so as to claim Terence’s prize. Go for Tambans, there are special hooks come with bites attached (synthetic), six hooks in a roll at the cost 80cts per pac, so you don’t catch one fish but at least six fishes at one time.
Those who want to go for bigger fish, get a rod instead of hand- reel, able to cast further away from the kelong, and the chances better.
HAPPY FISHING

To meet at 6.30 am — okay let’s see where is the final venue and we can arrange. Stay in touch.. :O

Hi Ron,
Finally made payment of $200 to Savings 023-2-036239 Ref: 9591 for Danz n Chian Wah.
I opt for pickup point at Newton Hawker Centre Carpark. Ideal for those travelling on the North-East Line. Suitable place for the bus and there are restrooms nearby! Location is also out of the city area.
RonK, please send only maps into Robinsons, where the fitting rooms are………any other map, what for?
Hi Ron @205,
Yes, do send me a map. Will put it up on the forum. If you have a digital link, so much the better.
Terence Seah
I think I best produce a map, and request Terence to put it up on the web somewhere.
Meanwhile, I’ll be sending a copy to Tim, and anybody else who needs a copy can let me know.
Ron Koh
“We meet at City Hall MRT, in the area of the taxi stand/entrance to Robinsons, opposite the T-junction from Capitol Building”.
City Hall is fine for me. Is the Wait-at area along North Bridge Rd opposite the former CHIJ (believe it’s now occupied by SMRT)? Or along Stamford Road?
Heee, I dont even know there’s a Robinsons there.
Molly (#202):
According to Hotboys, Tanjong Leman jetty is about 2.5 hours by car from the Woodlands Checkpoint. There is a map and some general advise at http://www.kelongfishing.com/logistic.asp, which we should take note of, particularly with possible jams at the checkpoint which I am told still happens intermittently. We have to be at the Tanjong Leman Jetty in time to catch the ferry to the kelong.
Cheers,
Ron Koh
Suzhang – How long does it take to reach
T.Leman after clearing JB checkpoint?
Reverse psychology, Suzhang.
Heard of ?? strategies to win the final complete victory against Xiang Yu during the formation of Han Dynasty?
#175
Terence, are you kidding ? Prize for the smallest fish ? why not the biggest ? Its easy to catch the smallest but not the biggest lah.
By the way Molly, we can stop by Kota Tinggi for breakfast, buy your drinks, yu-tiao etc. from there before heading for T. Leman.
Better get a packet of ice from there too. If not Terence will use seawater to mix your drinks..ha.ha..
Yes, big big fishes in the open sea, Lina
Hi Ah Nee/Susan,
From the postings seem like people preparing to catch big fishes. See the size of fishing hooks? I thought we only going kelong, not some deep sea fishing. Really go so big fishes, meh?
I got some expired ginger tea, you want or not? Ah Nee, no problem if you puke at the kelong. It will be bait for the fishes, ha..ha.
Figuratively so, how is Veronique going to exert herself with the fishing rod,k-Ok or MJ.
Playing throughout the night and perform sentry duties ?
Pearlyn:
Someone else asked for the same thing. I’ll work on it, and let everyone know. Have to finalise payments to Hotboys, wait for them to provide the registration number of the coach, exchange HP numbers with the driver, confirm the pick up time, etc., etc. first.
Two aspects are quite certain:
1) We meet at City Hall MRT, in the area of the taxi stand/entrance to Robinsons, opposite the T-junction from Capitol Building.
2) Make sure your passports are valid, with at least six months validity from the date of departure.
The departure time from the meeting/pick up point is still subject to confirmation by Hotboys, but we expect to depart at 6.30am sharp. Please don’t be late – we may not be able to wait for late-comers as the schedule is pretty tight.
Dan Huang has requested for the pick up point to be at the Newton Hawker Centre. This may not be convenient to those taking the MRT on the East-West line.
However, if there are sufficient people wanting to be picked up at one additional point along the route, (e.g. Newton), I’ll see if this can be arranged. More than one additional pick up point, however, is out of the question.
Cheers,
Ron Koh
Haha Terence @ 175, – Din noe fish got toe. Almost fell off my chair wen I read it.
Veronique, – Pls take care not 2 exert yrself n den faint on us like u did TWICE @ cycling hor? There’s no hospital @ the kelong leh.! ;)

Ron,
Appreciate if you could give us an update on the details such as meeting time, venue, passport required, program agenda, things to bring along as some of us havent been to the kelong for ages.
Hear from you soon. Thanks :)
Pearlynn
Beautiful isn’t it, when things are clean, simple and pure, Ronald.
Enjoy yourself, take care!
Andrew #191:
Granduncle many times over (another one just added today), but no grandpa. :o(
Dear Ronald
The wise Solomon saying:
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers.
Be blessed with your coming fishing trip.
Hi Ronald
Sorry to promote you so fast. Remember you shared that you are a grand(?).
Stay clean and healthy, an old good friend/neighbour.
When are you starting your class, come and see whether the Jasmine Room is suitable.
Take care of the ladies during the trip
Cheers,
RonK, seems like you’re using a calendar that’s Terence’s cousin……..his calendar told him 2 years ago that he was 5x years old and this year, he is still 5x.
Has yr calendar a ister whom you can pass over?
Haha, this time the apple polisher got his hands cut when he tried to polish you into a grandpa……….what he got was a durian. Next, he might come polishing my shoes……………..but I’ll show him the toilet bowl – he’s a natural at that.
Hi, Andrew (#188):
Don’t promote me to grandpa status yet. My son hasn’t even got a girlfriend yet, though it’s long overdue.
A blast from the past: The last time I went to a kelong was with my then colleagues. One of them caught his first fish ever, a tiddler that would have easily won the competition proposed by Terence. For some reason, he was happy with that catch. I felt he could do better, so I helped him in the only way I knew how. Check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/ronkoh/2382457404/
Ron Koh
Hi Ronald
Physically, you look much younger and healthier than Timothy though you are already a grandfather and your children and nieces and nephews are much wiser and older.
Age is just a digit; it is the mind, body and spirit that count.
It is grace and a clean life that build you.
With good men, take of the ladies, esp if there is a quick tohu hunter who would play poker to lure/snare mermaids.
Be blessed and enjoy your holis.
Yo, Tim (#184):
What’s wrong with being my age? Never mind what the calendar says. I’m still 19.
Also, I believe this thread is about the kelong trip, and not about us’kelonging’ this thread with ‘how are you’ messages every 5 minutes! :o)
Ron Koh
Hi Ladies (Gang of 4)
Do’t play poker if there is a quick tohu hunter.
RonK, at our age, you still want to break records huh? Ok, will certainly help you to achieve yr dreams………as much as I wd to realise Terence’s teeming dream of a corny concert.
So, will type “how are you” in here every 5 minutes……after 72 hours, yr thread sure champion one, heeee, ai mai?
Eh, seems like DanH is now also a chaperon or smthg like that? Good man, is he taking on too much…..danzing, badminton, bowling………and bawling if the load weighs him down.
Whatever, think we hv a group who will know how to create and take fun at the kelong.
Hi Ron @182,
I don’t know the number of messages, but I guess you can go as many as you can handle. Go ahead.
Terence Seah
Hi, Molly (#172):
Yes, please.
Better to be able to be contactable in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Does anyone know what the record is for number of messages in any SHC thread? :O)
Ron Koh
Hi, Dan (#178):
Great that you managed to convince Chian Wah to come.
We still have some seats on the coach and a couple of days on our hands for anyone else who wants to join in. And that includes you, Steven (Chan). Can we tempt you? :o)
Ron Koh
Serious things first. It’s 96695702. Call past midnite usually come fr ex-es who cant sleep but you can so……?
Jonathan, thot motion-sickness means sickness when one is passing motion which means a pain in the ass…….so why are you teaching us to press everywhere but where the stuck & pain is?
Waiting in bated breath to see whether VeronL’s sarong can squeeze one more in.
Terence, will match yr antic. Whoever catches a live fish smaller than 2 cm, I’ll gulp it all down with beer.
Yo, Molly & Terence:
Re #171, I think you may have to save your entrepreneurial spirits for another time. :o)
Soft drinks are avail at Hotboys @ MR3.00 per can. Carlsberg and Tiger Beer goes for MR7.00. If you are thinking of undercutting, think also of the shark infested waters. :o)
And on the fishing side, this is the most recent advise from Hotboys re rods and fishing hooks:
“please just bring simple sabiki hooks and lines for the beginners. size 9
to 15 will do. rods do not need to be overly long, 6ft is ok. daytime to
catch tamban for bait and night time to hook up the big ones.. not to
worry, my staff will be on hand to guide u along.”
I should be able to bring sufficient sabiki hooks (all nicely tied up) for those of you who may be wondering the heck sabiki hooks are.
Now got to go look for the fish hook degouger that I have somewhere around.
Hi Ron,
Chian Wah confirmed coming. Will do payment for both.
Danz
Hi Grace K
You are really the resilient and versatile type : cycling next week, kelong the following week.
See you, Lina, Ah Nee, Nor, Yew Kwong and 19 others (including 6 other Magnificent 7) during the Pengarang cycling on 12 April.
Good for you and your good health.
Dear all:
Enjoy all the pre, on kelong, and post fun.
Hi HOT Kelongers,
So much exciting talk abt the kelong also made up heart sum yoke yoke.
Btw. have good fun.
Beware,Terence our gals may saibo you and throw you into the shark infested waters so you can feed on pure marine breasted milk like Lina does.
Save $$$ no need to bring milk powder.LOL.
Hi all Kelongers,
To make the trip worthwhile your effort, I shall give a prize for the smallest fish caught.
When you catch the fish, write its name on a sticky label, and stick the label on the right side of the fish. We shall then take a photograph of the fish, having a bear hug with you.
What’s the prize? I shall offer to put your fish in a icebox, and hand it back to you when we arrive Singapore. To qualify, the fish must be less than 6 inches (tip of head to tip of toe).
Terence Seah
Hi all kelongers,
Some 15 years ago, I wanted to go into JB, only to realise that my passport expired. Please check your passport, as we dont want to see you go back, at the immigration.
Hi Veronique, I see your suggestion to bring raincoat. Aiyah, no need lah. No need to bring your cupboard. I shall bring one piece of soap, one toothbrush and one tube of toothpaste for everybody to use. Toilet tissue no need. Good idea to bring your own sarong, underwear, bra, shorts, T-shorts. I shall wear my slippers though. Dont bring instant noodles or any food. Let’s enjoy the snacks and food in Malaysia.
Molly, we shall set up a JV for beers and whiskies. 4 dozens enough? There is ice and hot water at the Kelong.
If the internet works on the kelong, maybe in 5 years’ time, we can enjoy a 3 month short-term retirement living on the water.
Have fun. Thanks Ron Koh, for making this event possible.
Terence Seah
Hi Ah Nee, #118 Thks, I also hope to catch another big baracuda this time but is quite impossible as i wont be able to bring my whole set of fishing gear n ice-box along. I have to carry light because we are travelling by coach and not private cars. #161 – Try Lipton Lemongrass & Ginger (herbal infusion). It works very well on me whenever I have stomach upset or nausea.
Dear Ladies, if you have sarongs with you, bring one along and you will find it very useful. Pack in 1 long sleeved blouse, a pair of gloves, raincoat and remember ur shades and hats.
Dear all kelong mates, remember to bring a bent plier to remove the fish from the hook, a small knife to cut the baits and bells for night fishing.
Good Luck!
Hi Ron,
Do you need our mobile nbrs too ….. Anyway will send you.
Tks
Molly

Hi, Lily:

Ron

Hi, all:
I plan to compile a list of handphone numbers for those who will be going on this trip. The handphone numbers will be kept confidential and for limited circulation only, and will be used only in cases when some of you may be late, gone missing, in emergency situations, etc.
I shall be grateful if those of you with handphones could sent the numbers to me via email to ronald.origami@gmail.com (and not via this thread, please).
Thank you.
Ron Koh
PS: Looks like we are going to have lots of fun. The number of messages on this thread has doubled in the last couple of days!:o)
Hello Ah Nee,
If you want to make ginger tea like what Lina said, please make the night before hor… if not, we don’t hv enough time to the jetty, then susah.
Ok, am going to sleep early tonite as last nite siow until so late. Pls behave if not, you will have yellow card..ha.ha..
Good nitzz.
Lina & Suzhang,
Molly want to trick us lah. Y.Kwong BD over already. Is April Fool…don’t “kena” fool by her…he..he…he…… :)
Ah Nee
Hi Ah Nee/others,
Motion sickness is caused by the uneven distribn of liquid in the semi-circular canal of the ears and over stimulation of the fine cochlea hairs when the body is rocked to and fro.
I doubt ginger tea will
help much.
Hi Jonathan
Thanks for the technique in preveenting motion sickness. That was easy. Think Molly & Ah Nee need to know that….hello girls, pls read & learn this technique before embarking on the boat..ha.ha.. as for the other steps, no need to learn the NEIGUAN P6 ACUPRESSURE POINT lah… so leceh..I will bring some ginger for you gals, ok ? you want some raw ginger too ? I have the sugared ones which I am bringing along. :) Oh, Ah Nee & Molly, please bring extra plastic bags in your hand carrier & also in your car. Don’t puke at me or I will puke too… :(
Hi Ah Nee,
You can make your own ginger tea. Pound the ginger, extract juice and add honey. Then bring for the trip. My e-mail very full oredi, so cannot reply, must wait until tomorrow. So YK tricking you all into sellerbreading his Bday, ah?
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your Techniques in preventing Motion Sickness, it will be a great help for me. I must remember to buy some packet of Ginger Tea and dry Ginger to munch. Anyone know of any good quality Ginger Tea. Those at the supermarket not nice leh.
Ah Nee
Andrew @ 159
Am no Oriental expert, personally just like to try out natural cures, especially only need to press press & breathe in breathe out ;-)
Hi Jonathan at #154/5
You are really well versed with Oriental master art of relief for motion sickness.
Cheers,
Surely, the coach will have to stop along the way for toilet breaks and there we can fill our bags with beer………….and cigarettes.
Hi Molly,
We buy in Malaysia. we can agree later you or me will buy. I wont buy in Singapore.
Terence
Terence – Are you buying beer from Malaysia? If not pls check if hv to pay duty tax for beer, whisky and shoju …. is cheaper to buy in JB.
If taxable not worth bringing in unless you got a hiding place.
Lina – Bring overnite bag is good enough. Small shopping only.
the acupressure point for motion sickness should be…
http://www.pyroenergen.com/articles07/images/neiguan-acupressure-point.jpg
Hi all going to kelong,
Here’s some tips if you are prone to motion sickness while on your way there…Enjoy and take care!
===============================================
SIMPLE TECHNIQUES IN PREVENTING MOTION SICKNESS
1. Have a good or enough sleep before going for an outdoor trip.
2. Avoid too much eating before you go. An empty stomach is not good either.
3. Don’t wear tight clothes. Loose clothing is preferable and more comfortable.
4. Wear dark sunglasses to make your eyes less sensitive to flicker.
Have you done the above techniques already? Then, follow below that is something different from what you knew.
NEIGUAN P6 ACUPRESSURE POINT
An acupressure point where you can press several times before and during your trip for relieving motion sickness or nausea is called “Neiguan P6 Acupressure Point”. It’s located in the forearm three finger widths below the wrist crease. Place your thumb on the point and press firmly while you breathe out, and release pressure as you breathe in. This will calm you down and soothe your stomach. Repeat if you still feel dizzy. This method is known in China for thousands of years in relieving many sorts of nausea.
http://www.pyroenergen.com/articles0…sure-point.jpg
In Chinese herbal medicine, the use of ginger to prevent motion sickness is used. Ginger beer or ginger ale helps greatly. Ginger tea works the best.
Hi everybody coming to the kelong. April has been chosen as the waters are calm.
If you are sensitive, have a few beers or whiskies before getting on the boat.
By the way, how many of you wants to buy beer. You pay according to what we will pay for in Malaysia. I shall take charge of buying the beer. You just need to say how many cans you need.
I think I shall bring along a bottle of whisky which was not consumed during the D&D and Korean Soju too. No charge. Sea water can be used as mixer.
Terence Seah
Hi, Dan:
Re concerns at #147, the NE monsoon begins in December and ends in early March, while the SW monsoon usually begins in early June and dies down in September. You don’t have to take my word for it; check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsoon.
We are going in between the two monsoons, which I should say is just about the best time.
After all, it is just a bit of water…. :o)
Ron
1 stone, 2 birds (hang 2 stones on the bird and it becomes a male bird) so my reply is to both Lina & VWong (and DanH eavesdropping).
Obviously, Lina was too busy looking for breast milk not to look at the kelong write-up. The answer on swimming is there and I can tell you now that the sharks there are all breasted so you wont hv a problem finding milk provided you bite before they bite.
Yes, thanks VW (and thanks for choosing to be with me than to be with kids). I can also confirm what VW has said abt the monsoon which is more unlikely than one finding soon kueh at the kelong. But there will be a lot of moon……..half cups cant hold fuull moons…………lucky Lina who’s looking for nutrition.
Hahaha Ron K
Thanks but big girl got small heart. Even when swimming in the pool, my head is above water – the longkang swimming stroke.
You guys go and enjoy yourselves. I will dream about it on 12 April :(
Tim #146
FYI
My colleagues & families visited Hotboys during the sch break. Did not join them bec. I have registered here. The owner took the adult& kids in a boat to nearby Sibu Island where they can swim.
Dan #147
Isn’t NE Monsoon season end of the year –
Nov-Feb. Floods etc.
To reassure Chian Wah, perhaps Ron check with Hotboys.
Hi Tim,
Did not know we can swim there as well? Got shark or not? Thank you for being so concerned about our travelling time. Will make sure we have lots of time.
So Molly, what do you want us to bring? I thought overnight bag will do. Now Molly say go shopping, so must bring suitcase?
Hi Ron,
Chian Wah is concern whether we are going to the kelong during the monsoon season. is it safe?
Help me with an answer to her! I am at my wit end.
RonK, the write-up on the kelong is very informative, thank you. Unlikely that I’ll fish…….cant bear the sight of a fish struggling in pain at the end of my line unless I can do a Qiang Tai Kung where the fish tugs at the hookless line and be lifted. Will, however, look forward to the crystal clear open sea for a swim.
To those who are making their own way to the jetty, kindly ensure that you’re familiar with the route and the time required, taking into consideration the causeway jam & travelling time, to reach the jetty by 10 a.m.
This world never fails to amaze me….this time when I read that gals hv their own rods and will bring them. Will see how they match up with mine……….
Hi, Dennis (#141):
Payment noted. Thank you.
Hi, Dan (#142).
I have included you in the list of confirmed participants. Please let me know when you have made payment. Need to know for administrative purposes. If Chian is coming along, do let me know also. Need to reserve a seat on the coach for her in case Hotboys wants to take up the vacant seats for other people.
Hi, Caroline (#143):
You are already such a big girl, and still afraid of a little water? Come along! :o)
Ron Koh
Hi Nee/Lily/Lina/Sue/Dolly,
Wow you gals hv so much fun & laughter last nite. Too bad my home pc is still down or I wud hv join in the fun.
Sue/Nee/Lina – Guess we will hv to list the items to bring and buy along the way. Can we coordinate who to bring what so no duplication? Ned space for shopping on our return.
Aiyo Lily, Ah Nee, Lina and Sue,
buay tahan you all. Not yet go already have so much fun. Make my sum yoke yoke. If not for the fact that I am afraid of the water, I will surely go with all of you and xiao lor :(
Hi Ron,
I shall be making payment soon. I will also check with Chian whether she is coming.
Btw, I think the more conveniene place to meet is Newton Hawker Centre carpark!
Hi RonK
Haf deposited $100.00 to DBS Saving Plus a/c #023-2-036239 2day..ref #6045. Pls acknowledge.
Thnaks, Dennis
Hi Ah Nee,
Nevermind Dolly #137 think we are mad, but now RonK #138 thinks the same too. We better behave, otherwise, he won’t let us go, OK.
Now, you know why John Howe does not want to go. Cos he wants to bring pillow, bolster, blanket, pacifier, milk powder and practically the whole flat to make himself comfortable at the kelong. Can’t even sacrifice one night for our company!! So still want to befriend him?
Hi, Dennis (#136):
Because Wendy no go, now Ros no wanna go too. :o)
Please let me have the details of your payment after you have made the payment.
Terence:
Tried making my payment last evening, but the hungry ATM ate my card. Will be going to the bank a bit later to deal with the problem and make the payment.
Cheers,
Ron
To all mahjong and karaoke kakis:
Hotboys Kelong provides mahjong sets and tables at no additional charge. No need to bring your own mahjong sets and tables/chairs with you. :o)
Karaoke is also available, but at an additional cost.
To those intending to try catching the fish that Lina and the other ladies did not manage to scare away:
Hotboys has a limited quantity of fishing rods and lines for rent, and hooks, lines, sinkers, etc for sale, if you are not able to buy what you want in Singapore. However, we can expect that prices may be higher than at home. Suggest you try getting what you need before leaving.
You can check out the prices of Hotboys optional items at http://www.kelongfishing.com/doc/HOTBOYS%20KELONG%20QUOTATION.pdf
Cheers,
Ron Koh
wahpiangz, Ron n Terence, by looking at tose crazy rmks by Lily, ANee, Lina, Suzhang, r u still sure u 1 these ladies 2 tag along har… u can b guarantee 4 sure, wif their loud speakers dat nite, chances of getg fish vry slim leh.. hehehehe…
Hi RonK,

Cheers, Dennis
Hi Lina Ng /Ah Nee/others,
Why so quah cheong ?
Pillows,towels,pacifires etc…
Gals suggest you bring along your beds and husbands too for security to prevent any “wolves” from loitering around.
No need bolsters, there are so many guys you can use them as bolsters too. Ha! Ha!
Word of Caution for those who uses Hand Line. Do not wrap line to your fingers thinking it is easy to hold on to the line instead of holding the line between your index finger and thumb. There are cases where the fingers get cut through by the line if the bait is eaten by BIG FISH. You cannot tell what lies under the seawater.
For those who have kept your Fishing Reels for more that 3 month, it is better to replace with new Fishing Lines. The old lines will easily snap due to salt particles that dried up inside the lines. So in order to keep the line for a longer period of time, it is always advisable to soak your spool of line in fresh water and dry out in the sun before keeping for the next Fishing Trip.
Some Tips for using baits :using Live Prawn usually attract Groupers / Sea Bass / Red Snapper / Sting Ray / etc…
Using “Sarong” or Tube Worm usually attract Cat Fish or Ikan Duri, and various Kelong fishes.
Remember to bring ICE BOX for storing the fishes caught so as to keep it fresh or otherwise immediately put it into Steam Boat and eat it there and then
Happy Fishing
Ok gals, Lina, Lily, Dolly & Sue…..stop laughing, it’s time to go to bed….good night..zzzzz….
Ah Nee
Hi Terence #109
If you are using a hand line – whole set should be around $10. For kelong, use hand reel (plastic ones are cheaper) with 40 lbs line, tied to a swivel, then a string of selar hooks, ends with a sinker.
For bigger fishes, you can use a hand reel with 40 lbs line, attach a langgong (plastic or wood), tie a hook on one end of the langgong and tie a sinker to the other end.
Mary Lee (from Perth)
Hi, Lily:
Re #115, we depart City Hall at 6.30am (As mentioned at the top of this thread). Since trains start running from as early as 5.25am, we should have no problem getting to City Hall in good time.
The original post disappeared briefly because I was doing some updates, so you are on the right thread. :o)
Ron Koh
Ha.ha… Lina & Ah Nee
Am also laughing till I tears lah…
You gals really got nothing better to do har…wait kenna scolding then you know…go to bed lah… I want to go off then saw another comment, then another, none stop..ha.ha..
I got to go tido now.
Good nitzzz.
Hi, Terence:
Re #109,I take it that you are referring to the spool for a hand line. Have not bought one in a long time, but the going price should not be more than S$10, including the line. There are a number of shops in Changi Village, if you are in the region, that offers fishing equipment at competitive prices.
I won’t recommend buying a fishing rod unless you know the kind of fishing you are going to use the rod for, e.g. fresh or salt water, approximate weight of the fish, etc., etc., etc. (Can be quite technical) If all we are going to catch are itsy-bitsy fish that goes with nasi lemak, then any light rod will do. If you are hoping for somthing bigger, the good old hand spool with maybe 100 meters of 20-pound to 30-pound line should do nicely.
Getting the right hooks and sinkers is another matter. Will check with Hotboys for their recommendations.
Ron
Hey Lina & Ah Nee
Don’t bring so much unnecessary things lah…must help me to carry some hor. No need to bring pillow, bolster or blanket lah.. they have it there, unless it’s stink lah…ha..ha.. so tell you what… just bring pillow case or extra big towels so can use it to wrap round those stinky pillow if you want. ha.ha.. I will bring extra towels for sure.
Don’t forget your sunblock…no mozzie there as it will be blown away by the strong breeze, so no need moquitoe repellent, ok ?
Hi Ah Nee,
My stomach aching lah. Wait until RonK scold us. I think i prefer to drink milk from the breast, leh.
Calling, calling Susan Chan, you want to join us mad ladies for some fun at the kelong. You will love our company.
Hi Terence #111

Too bad Carly is afraid of water. Otherwise, sure drag her along.

Ah Nee
Hi Ah Nee,
Tell you what else you can bring. Your pillow and bolster!! ha…ha.
Suzhang,
I am searching high and low for my fishing accessories (reels, lines & weights and hooks)in my storeroom. Long long time never been to fishing, don’t know where is it….will check with “old man” later. I also bring one pack of card just in case we have nothing to do, can play black jack, poker, etc. What else to bring huh? don’t know how to play MJ, don’t know how to sing…probably just sit around and chit chat thru the night….
Veronique, remember the last time you hook one big fish, hope this time round you & Suzhang will be lucky too.
Ah Nee
Hi Lily
Yeap, we are looking forward to having another fun time at the kelong… fishing, playing mj, or even singing if there’s karaoke system there.
Must keep ourselves fully occupied as Molly, Lina & Ah Nee can’t sit still….ha.ha..
Ermm. wonder if they hv full set of mahjong there…if not wud hv to lug mine there..gosh, looks like hv to bring alot of stuff ya?
Hi Suzhang,
Not to worry, no hurry to pay me lah. Have tried fishing b4. Fun when you land a catch, no matter how small. But I can be quite an impatient person, so cannot fish for long. It will bore me to death. Asked John Howe to go, but he said he needs home comforts. Not willing to sacrifice all that for our lovely company. Don’t know what he is missing.
Lily, look forward to spending time with you. We’ll have a great time, that’s for sure.
Dear RonK
“City Hall MRT the meeting point…..Anyone has strong objections?” That depends on “At what time?” If it is too early before the MRT is up and running, what’s the point for those who use the MRT right?
Dear Molly, Lina, Ah Nee & SueChang
So glad you all are coming….I was kinda feeling lonely …. my buddies not going. Now, we can party at the kelong…yeah….
Yo Dolly, Nor Sayang & JuneTGIF, want to change your mind??? Ai ke mai??? Go lah..cepat skali lah.!!!
Dear Lina
Thanks for paying on our behalf. Will pay you when I see you this Sat. at the trial cycling at EC, ok?
Hi Terence,
I will be bringing my own rod & some fishing accessories (also some ready to use hooks specially prepared for me in advance). Suggest you buy some jigging hooks size 8, 9 or 10 for tamban & selar. It’s a must to bring along just for fun. For those seasoned angler, am sure they will bring along sotong jig too.
Here’s a shop in Changi Village you can get your rod and/or accessories from :
Pro Fishing
Changi Village
Tel : 65423774
Hope this helps and looking forward to much fun at the kelong.
Hey Molly, Lina & Ah Nee, I will be bringing two rods. 1 for me & the other for any of you who want to have a feel of how fishing is like, ok? Must try ya…
Cheerio,
Susan
Terence, i am totally with you that some of us dont hv a rod. I hv mine – smooth & retractable – so dont need another but think I need a line. Dont think hooking my rod will ever bait a fish. Worse, scare away mermaids.
Hi Andrew @4,
Thank you and I shall call Joe. Some of us who are going to the kelong may not have a fishing rod, and really, it is not necessary to buy one, except if one goes fishing regularly.
I also think renting a reel or rod may be more expensive than buying a small reel from the fish accessories shop, before we leave Singapore.
I shall try to get some prices of reels, lines and weights. Anyone of you with contacts, please do some checks over the next few days. Preferably with a special price tag.
RonK, what do you suggest for the Kelong enthusiats?
Terence Seah
Hi Terence
You may call a friend who owns such shop at 331 Beach Road. They deal with all kinds of ISO fishing tackle and accessories too.
Try Mr Joe Ng at 6392 3888. Hope this helps.
Enjoy fishing and overnight kelong.
Cheers,
Calling all Kelong fishermen.
Do you live near a fishng accessories shop? Can you check what is the price of a 6 inch diameter reel and price of hooks. I am thinking of not bringing a rod. And, I guess some of us do not have any fishing gear too.
Terence Seah
Hi, Alfred (#105): Thanks for letting me know.
Hi, Lina (#106): Payment noted. Thank you.
All:
I propose to make City Hall MRT the meeting point, near the taxi stand opposite Capitol Building.
as this is the intersection between the East-West and North-South MRT lines, it ought to be most convenient to the majority.
Anyone has strong objections?
Cheers,
Ron
Enjoy yourselves ladies, at the kelong too.
I have two AGMs that Sat, 19 April to attend.
See you this and next Saturdays.
Hi Ron,

Some other time perhaps.
Thank you.
Hi RonK,

Dear Molly
I agree with Ah Nee. Go for both just this once…. don’t miss this opportunity as I think kelong won’t be a yearly affair.
Come lah… please !!
Molly Dear,
You can’t decide, let me decide for you. You go both, cycling & kelong…..thats final. Hooray hooray…… :)
Ah Nee

VeronWong
Hi Molly
I know you are a busy woman. Can ask someone to take over just for that weekend, right ? You don’t go, we short of 1 kakis lah. Do consider as we need your company and don’t want you to miss the fun.
Lina/Ah Nee, if Molly’s not going, are we still going ahead ?
Suzhang – I hear your calling. I need to choose either pengerang or kelong. You know that I hv to be at safra every sats and will not look good if my presence is not there. My league tournament falls on every mondays and I also need to discuss and arrange players with the coach. So which one to choose. Reg cycling I think it is heavy for us to carry the bike onto the boat …. how …how hah
Finally, the Cat Yeo appears.
Have fun in the Kelong.
Hi Ron,
Have already deposited $100 into Terence’s account via Boon Liang (thks for your effort BL) last week.
Terence has all transaction details. Pls update your side.
Cheers!
Lee @ #80; Steven @# 93
Steven is right. When you have finished with the ikan bilis, give me a tinkle.
Hee hee
Hi Ah Nee /Suzhang,
Don’t think about the BIG fish.
Think instead what the fishes would like to feed on.( GIANT sized earthworms or de-shelled prawn meat. Only then you will catch the big fish.
#76,
Ah Nee, first you need to endure the journey there (you car/sea sickness), then talk about fishing. Hook Big fish? no way, you don’t even know how to tie the fishing line to the rod..ha.ha..
If you land some palm size fish, you will jump with joy already, so don’t even think about big fish now, ok ?
#81
Lina, ok – let’s go then. I have not been to a kelong for quite awhile. Am sure, we will hv fun there.
Molly, pls jump onboard too, ok?
Ron, we will pay you some time next week once we have finalised our decision. Now pending Molly.
Thanks,
Suzhang
Hi Suzhang #75,
Of course I want to go too. If I don’t go where you all got fun!!.
Ah Nee #80, So, you want to do anything that is active, cannot sit on the chair one, right?
Correct lor…I have lots to learn. I am currently learning how to play Tennis. I also want to learn dry swiming & wet swimming, golfing, roller blading except investing….
Ah Nee
Lee @ #78
Aiyee! You let the fish go.
When you are at One Degree 15 Marina Club, you don’t retreat. You ATTACK!
You throw in all your war assets and pursue a “Scorched Earth – Last Woman Standing” campaign. Take no prisoners if they are female.
Looks like you have lots to learn. Let me help.
Hello hello…KT, you should have annouce this earlier, then I am on the look out mah. I went to One Degree 15 two weeks ago while having office retreat at sentosa leh. But don’t know any big fish there. You got “lobang” is it… he…he…he…..
Ah Nee
Lee @ 76
Get invited to go fishing on a yatch at One Degree 15 Marina Club. That’s where all the Big Fishes are found now.
Ask Mary for help to tie the knot. And Tim to negotiate the pre-nuptials. Don’t forget the will. It is very easy to have an inadvertent diving or fishing accident.
Hee-hee
Suzhang, I want…I want…but hor, how to hook a big fish huh?
Ah Nee
Wow, seems like this kelong trip is approaching nearer.. I know it’s going to be fun, and really hate to miss it. A few of us are still considering whether to go now. If we decide to go, most likely we will make our own way there. There will be about 4 of us in the car.
Lina, you are still keen right ? Molly & Ah Nee & me will join you. I know the way to Tanjong Leman Jetty… let’s decide before end of this month, want or not ?
Hi Terence
Please take note…. I don’t know how to tie a hook to the fishing line. Neither do I know how to remove a fish after it is hooked. But, I’m very good at watching you guys do it……heehee ^;^
Hi Ron and everybody coming to the kelong,
Just a show of hands, how many of you cannot tie a hook to the fishing line? Or don’t know how to remove a fish after it is hooked. And, also, if you can advise tips on how to catch a big one, please also raise your hand. We need to differentiate the our skill levels.
Please do not copy information from some website.
Terence Seah
RonL, not sure how efficient our men in blue are, if the rumnour is true, they dont quickly give up watching the blue films confiscated.
Haha, if Mas gets to swim to the kelong and decide to be a fisherman before we get there, Hotboys may hv another intitial added to their trade-name – MOTHboys.
VW, my auspicious day of 0103 turned out to be anythg but. See, my ex’s maid didnt bank in the cheque till 0403 which coincided with the fist day Terence constipated.
My apologies to RonK,
Replace the word delete with archive.

Dear RonK
I make my payment soon. Like Tim, must choose an auspicious day to make payment. Maybe 18 Mar. At the walk, I informed the newbies abt the Kelong, a good way to get to know members.
I noticed there are 3 postings on this which is quite confusing for a newbie to check. Just a suggestion of which you need not comply.
Why not delete the ones before the one which is for payment.
It would be helpful if you paste website on your main postings so that new registrants (is there such a wd. Left sch long long ago) know what they going in for. Refer: http://www.kelongfishing.com/
cheers

Hi Ron
Pse remove me from the reservation list as something as come up for Apr 19. Apologies.
Vincent Wong
HI RONK
The dateline is still very, very far of, come Apr 19th am sure with the efficiency of our men-in-blue, you don’t have to worry abt MSK. With the Hot, Hot Boys still waiting at the Kelong, waving their fishing line across the waters.
RONLAI
Hi, Eliza:
Payment noted. Thank you.
Ron
Hi Ron
I have transferred $200 today, (7.3.08) thru Posbank being payment for myself and Gwenyth Lee. ref: 8288
Thanks
Eliza Chua
Dear all:
The closing date for payments towards the kelong trip has been extended to 31 March 2008.
Please see the amended post above for further information.
Best regards,
Ron Koh
I am giving both the men in blue and MSK the benefit of doubt – the men in blue out to have caught MSK by then, or he should have gotten out of Singapore by then.
Either way, we would be left to continue with our fishing trip in peace. :o)
RonK, the man-hunt is likely to be protracted till the whereabouts of MSK is known which, with cargo lorries & trucks stuck at causeways, will add to inflation.
Haha, first world……………
With you I know we are in safe hands.
Hi, Lina, Suzhang, Molly and Tim:
The jams seem to be more acute when the authorities step up security checks. I understand this is not an ongoing situation.
Still, I don’t think we want to chance being delayed, and miss the ferry.
At any rate, an extended deadline is to the benefit of everyone. And the good news is, it will be extended to the end of March. Will come out with a proper announcement later – got to have my belated dinner now. :o)
Ron
Hi Ron,
please withdraw my name & Ann Chew from the trip
as we won’t be able to join you this time round.
Tks & rgds…………… Alan
Hello,
The jam is from Singapore to Malaysia. Understand the 2nd link jam is 1-2km every day announced over the radio. Guess it will be worst at woodlands checkpt. The best time to leave Spore around 5.30am, bcos everyone still asleep except golfers who will be at the checkpoint around this time.
Try calling this number 68630117 for causeway traffic info.
Hi Ron,
Yeap I agree with Lina. I was at 2nd link last Sat nite and it’s fine too. No delay at all.
Hi Ron Koh,
Don’t worry about the jams at the causeway. I have been across the causeway three times since the JI incident and it is plain sailing. Just a bit of a delay, but not much. Furthermore, April 19, is quite sometime away.
RonK, you have been doing a great job, thank you !
Insofar as the traffic jam is concerned, it may be a boon. If we have been talking abt interaction, wont the get-together in the coach give us all the time to pursue our fellowship while they check every inch of the coach and every limping man outside.
However, missing the ferry connection is no joke. Perhaps, we shd extract an undertaking from the Hotboys that however hot the situation may be, they are obligated to take us to the kelong which means the ferry will have to wait for us come what may.
It helps if they leave with us their contact numbers (and vive versa) to be informed of where we are and how far away to the jetty etc.
All said, once again, well done RonK and yr efforts and thoughtfulness are much appreciated.
Hi, Lily, Gingko & Veronique: your payments re #53 and #54 noted with thanks.
LH Jie & Mary Chan: have noted your withdrawals re #52 & #55, thank you.
Note to all:
I understand that some of you are concerned with the jam at the Causeway as a result of attempts by the authorities to prevent the former JI leader from getting out of Singapore, as the delays could jeopardise our ability to get to Tg Leman by 10am. Some have also found the deadline for payments to be uncomfortably too early.
I have therefore sent an email to the representative of Hotboys Kelong I am working with, to have the deadline extended as far as possible. I should have further information within a day or two.
Those who have withdrawn for whatever reason may ‘withdraw their withdrawals’ should they wish to, if the expected new deadline is more appropriate.
Best regards,
Ron
RonK,
I’m afraid I will have to pass on the kelong trip. I teach Saturday mornings and I have been unsuccessful so far, in getting my lesson schedule changed. I may be able to do it later on, but your date line for payment is the 8th of March and I can’t commit myself right now.
Thank you for organising it and I’m sorry to have to pull out.
Regards.
Hi RonK,

The post (this one should be 1473. I had to edit the this post quite drastically a couple of day back, to remove some ‘strange characters’ that appeared on some SHCians’ computers, though the post appeared fine on mine. Apparently, the post number was automatically changed by the programme on which this forum is hosted.
Thanks for letting me know.
