  1. Hi YK & friends,

Missed several cycling events, sad to say hv to work this sat. Will see you all @Bali lane after work and join for dinner if time permits.

    Enjoy yr cycling.

    Cheers,

  2. I would like to join in the cycling, but it clashes with the flea market. I’m putting up things for sale. BTW, why was there a clash of events? Can you guys plan another cycling outing on 21st Mar (being a public holiday), preferably start early in the day, like 10am? Then followed by lunch?

  3. Bira…working on saturdays not ‘fashionable’ anymore..go tell yr boss…we need to spend more time with family..apa macam lah!
then we can go cycling every 3rd saturday of the mth…correct or not EO Yew Kwong?
Btw Bira..u also missed our Penggarang event,if not we sure hv fun together with the rest!

  4. Lydia @3

Precisely! Just what I was asking Terence and he gave me a “lau tow now” answer.

I’d like to see the stallminders trying to juggle manning the stalls as well as attend the meeting!

    Hahaha!

  5. Lydia @ 3 n Kenneth @ 6

Cycling is fixed on 3rd Sat of the mth irrespective of other activities taking plc on same dy. Definitely no clash. We hv been doing tis 4 almost 2 yrs since Mar 06.

How would I juggle, sth tat U can oso manage, its just plain simple. We cycle from 4 pm to 6 pm. When it ends, we make our way to Bali Lane, mayb reaching ard 7 pm. Still an hr or more (depending on its ending time) 2 sell ur stuf, attend the meeting n hv an njoyable dinner.

2 me, every SHC’s activity is an njoyment.

  6. Hi Yew Kwong

I will be going cycling this Sat. together with Molly. Pls register us.

Lina, Charles & John – are you all coming too?
I promise Lina I won’t miss this event. I know I have missed some fun last week at the walk. Was not feeling too good then, but this week, I will be there.

    See yah!

  7. Hi Yew kwong,

How to split myself into 1/2 leh! ?

Anyway will join you all for dinner only at Bali Lsne becos I am helping out in the Flea Mart.

Cya there this Sat. Time for dinner at Bali Lane pls?

  8. Steven @ 9

I dont hv 2 split myself. Just proceed to Flea Mkt after cycling ends. Time for dinner not fixed but likely 2 be ard 8 pm. The fd served at the open type western restaurant 5 or 6 shops away is delicious, cheap n gd. Abv these, the ambience is gd.

  9. Hi Yew Kwong,

Can we start our East Coast cycling earlier this Sat, say at 3.00 pm instead of 4.00 pm. By then, we should finish cycling around 5.00 – 5.30 pm and reach scoreboard before 6.30 pm. You see, Lina, Molly, Suzhang & myself want to “kaypo kaypo” & help “lelong lelong” at the Fleas mart. We will miss the fun if we arrive there after 7.00 pm. Lina, is the bicycle rack useful? Can handle or not?

    Ah Nee

  10. Ah Nee

Pls go ahead n lead e gp who wish 2 start @ 3 pm while I take 4 pm rider. I will split e registration into 2 gps, 3 pm n 4 pm rides. The riders can still meet each other hf way.

So can I gp U, Molly, Susan, Nor n Lina in e 3 pm gp?

  11. Hi Ah Nee

How’s your retreat? Actually good idea to start cycling earlier at 3pm since we are going to the flea market after that. Did you see Lina’s email to us? Now she’s not going cycling with us, as she’s afraid she will frighten away all the flea with her smell….haizz.. I think I will bring along a bottle of perfume in case anyone needs it before going to the flea market. Good idea ?

  12. Suzhang/Nee/Lina/Nor/Yew Kwong

Is it compulsory to buy gloves? Can I use my golf gloves instead???? Helmet ??? Still looking to borrow from someone. Dont get for me.
Dont think I can make it for the 3pm cycling cos I will be having lunch fellowship outing with my safra squash teammates (schoolgirls)from 12pm onwards. They want to eat and go movie. Will try and let you gals know later.

  13. Dear Molly
You so busy again? In that case, I’ll go the 3pm & you come & join us later, ok?
Since you hv golf gloves then no need to buy lor.

By the way YK, are those helmet used for roller-blading the same as cycling ?

  14. Molly @ 18

Gd 2 use gloves wen U cycle. Better grip n protect ur hands. I can show U e gloves on Sat.

    Susan @ 19

Tis helmet can be used 4 both cycling n blading.

  15. Hi ah nee #11

Please help and lead ur group from McDonald to Changi Village within 1 1/2hrs (one way).

Take this as a trial run for the Tg Pengerang trip.

    Do post ur results here.

    Yew Kwong,
I may not be able to meet you this sat. If that happens,I will post my comment under ‘Have Passport will ride’ sorry ya.

    regards

  16. Sue – You go ahead with the 3pm group. I will join the 4pm. I will use my golf gloves then.

YK – Tks. Will look at the gloves tis sat.
Are they the same as gym gloves????

  17. Molly

M not sure of gym gloves. The gloves which I mentioned can be viewed at shops like Royal Sporting House, World of Sports, etc n they are priced at $18.50. At Mustafa, the price is $14.50.

  18. Molly & all cyclist,

These gloves that my son bought for me and some of the cyclists during his reservist in Jan 08, can be used in the gym and cycling and only cost $4.00. Nor, Rene, Lina, Caroline & myself have it. Anybody out there who’s son are in the army or NS can help to buy?

Douglas, I will have to see if the rest want to try the Super7 ride this sat.

    Ah Nee

  19. Ah Nee #25

Do try your best and lead them up to Changi Village,so that they may know roughly the distance covered for the Tg Pengerang ride.

You could re-adjust ur time to start at 2pm and than have more rest after the ride.

  20. Hi Ah Nee

My son is in the air force. Not sure if he can get for me. If so, I will ask him to buy 1 for me as it’s much cheaper rite ? Don’t think he can get half a dozen, can he ?

#26 Douglas, not sure if I can ride from EC to Changi Village or not. Sounds very distance leh.
Ah Nee, are you sure you want to start at 2pm?

  21. Hi YK/Suzhang,

I bought my Prowell helmet from a bicycle shop for $33/-. So the one from Carrefour that YK mentioned is a good bargain. As for the gloves (gym and those purchased from the army), the price difference is due to the quality. So long as the grip is there it is a good pair of gloves. Suzhang I have an extra pair of gloves if you should need one.

  22. Aiyah, Lina, you really went ahead to buy a helmet huh?

Times are hard, good to save $$, shd hv told you earlier to improvise and turn everythg at home to more than 1 use like turning the plastic pail used to wash socks and cap it over the head, attach a piece of plastic on the handle as sun visor.

Since you hvnt bought gloves, try using the plastic bag given to you by the fruit seller, recycleable somemore as trash bag later……………

  23. Wow Lina, you already bought your helmet ? What color did you buy ?

As for the gloves, good that you have 1 extra. My son’s checking for me tomorrow. He doubt there are gloves as he saw only shorts & T-shirts selling at his base. If he can’t get it, then of course I don’t mind to borrow from you.

Yew Kwong, can I let you know later on the color?

  24. Yes, I will.

Frankly, though not a pioneer like YK, JP, LH I probably joined them at the 3rd cycling and did enjoy it.

Meanwhile, looks like a motley brigade is in formation soon and like that huh, you folks will surely bring new life to the sleepy pengarang……..even their dogs will welcome you all with line danz, the durians will ripe faster and with so great a turbulance, expect tsunami…..

  25. Hi Suzhang,

Mine is fire red (with a bit of grey). Bought it even before I bought my bike. Have a pair of Nike gloves (thicker and stronger) and one from the army courtesy of Ah Nee. Just let me know if you need the gloves.

  26. Hi Suzhang#27

Yes, it sounds very distance, becos tats the distance one has to cycle from Tg Pengerang to Kg Rengit.how??

We have a time frame, we cant miss the return ferry ya,otherwise we may have to sleep at the Tg Pengerang Jetty with bicycles as our bolsters and mozzie as our bedfellows

  27. Hi Douglas

Thanks for enlighten me here. What time are we setting off to Pengarang ? I want a leisure cycle over there as am not the fast cyclist.
What time must we return to the ferry. If I am slow, can I cycle half way, then gostan to the ferry to wait for you guys? I don’t want to sleep over at Tg Pengarang lah..

  28. Hi YK & cycling buddies:

I will be joining the 4.00pm group.

Looks like only Suzhang, Ah Nee n Nor will be in the 2.00pm group. By the time we catch up with you, you will all be chow tar!

    Cya

  29. Hello Suzhang,

We all cycle together lah, you want to “gostan” to where? Alone? Don’t worry too much, just think of the nice scenery..admire the kampong house…etc. Ok, we try it out this sat at EC and see how it goes…

    Ah Nee

  30. Hi Ah Nee
Luckily we didn’t cycle to CV yesterday. Gosh, both my legs are now aching after never cycle for the past 3 months. Now am considering if I should go to Pengarang with you guys. I doubt I can take the long distance ride there. Guess would need a lot of stamina & endurance to complete that. :(

  31. Dear Susan

There are four weeks more for warming up, go to gym or exercise thrice a week, half to an hour each session.

With ten sessions, you sure can make it.

Cycle three more mini distances over the next three weeks, Pengarang trip will become a breeze.

Take micro, then mini then Pengarang portions in strides, lah. Pak Lah will be waiting you there with a cycling medal!

  32. Suzhang,

Ya lor, yesterday was extremely hot at EC!!!! but at least we managed to cycle up to the NSSRC golf course. I think both your legs are now aching, could be due to not wearing your comfortable track shoe.

    Andrew,
Susan goes to the office Gym every morning, I think she has to work harder from now on….in preparation for the Pengarang trip!

    Ah Nee

  33. Tired, huh. Last in shape 30 years ago.

Don’t say I say ah. But I did.

Let me spell out in chinese in case it was not understood the first time.

    V….A…..N

Just goes to show that a few more of us need to attend A’s chinese workshops.

  34. #42 Andrew,

Thanks for your encouragement. How to buck up my training in the gym when I only have about half an hour there every morning? :(

Ah Nee, don’t think it’s due to my shoe, it’s more of over exertion on the particular muscle which I don’t use often.

Lina, I will try to do that from Wednesday onwards & see how.

    Thks,
    Susan
