UPDATES – April 16’08

With only 1 more day to go.  Please take note of the final arrangement:

  • ANee, Lina Ng, Sue Chang and Dolly will be coordinator from Han’s Cafe to Pearls Centre after the gathering.
  • Yew Kwong will be the coordinator to meet up members at Outram MRT from 7.45pm – 8.00pm.  Pls be punctual.
  • Late comers after 8.00pm, pls go directly to the Thai Disco
  • For those driving, car park rate at Pearls Centre after 5pm is $2.50/entry
  • A gentle reminder: Ladies, as Ladies Nite will starts only 9.00pm, so please at least order 1 drink (bar price) during 8 – 9pm. OK.

UPDATES – April 14’08

I had make a reservation for 25paxs to be there ard 8.15pm onwards.  However, kindly ntoe that from 7pm – 9pm, there is no ladies nite offer, i.e no free housepour.  Hence, Ladies, pls order at least 1 drink for a start since they will be on bar price which is not expensive at all considering the fact that after 9pm, it’s free all the way to 2am.  No reservation at all on/after 9pm at all as they are expecting much crowd since it is a Ladies Nite.

Sorry, Ladies, if you are not ordering any dirink before 9pm, suggest that you come in only slightly after 9pm and there might not have any seats available ok.  Have to be fair to those who pay for the drinks.

For those not too sure where is the venue and attending the SHC monthly gathering at Han’s Cafe, we will walk together to this as there is no bus service going there.  Will try to appoint coordinators to help out.

For those not going for the mthly gathering, pls meet at Outram MRT outside entrance facing direction to Eu Tong Seng Street, will arrange coordinators to meet you there at 8.00pm.  Pls let me know who will be there so that we can do a headcount.  Nevertheless, those who are going on their own, pls feel free to contact me.  Email me at dlgummy@hotmail.com for my mobile contact. emoticon

Glad to know that the all responses for this good is so overwhelming for those who had missed out the 2008 DnD and those who still felt that you hv not got enough dancing.  Details as follows:

Operating hour: 7.00am – 3.am (of cos, we can choose to leave early la)emoticon

For guys, all drinks will be on bar price and best still, there is happy hours from 7pm – 9pm

Seating arrangement is ard 6-8pax in each table but I supposed it should be alright to sit 10paxs, I will check if we are able to reserve at least 2 tables for that nite as I m not sure if we are able to do during Ladies Nite.  Resv, call 94563292 after 3pm.

  5. I really didn’t hve enough dancing on D&D nite but this one’s on Thurs nite!!! Very susah as 1)next day got to work and 2)my bedtime is 10 pm :-)))).
    I just marvel at people who sleeps after midnite and next day able to get up bright and early, fresh without headaches!!!

    Its all abt arithmetic. Since u know u are going 2 sleep less (x hrs) on Thu nite, u can make up (x hrs) the nite b4 tat or earlier. So u c it balances. Try it out.

  9. Can try out…but think won’t work for me as mind still active before 10 pm. However, each nite at 10 pm, I watch ChannelNewsAsia news but I never ever reach the end of the news bec soon after I gone to dreamland already :-)))
    OK tonite I try sleep at 8 pm and see if I can stay awake till midnite tom :-)))
    But then, I take dinner at 8 pm!!

    Yes, we can. It is 2 streets away and within walking distance. Dun think we nid 2 pass thru’ KSR la.. But even if we do, no issue lah..

    Nearest MRT to Upp Pickering Street is Chinatown. If I am not mistaken, Han’s cafe is located sumwhere at GE building. I try to get more details on this for you later. BTW, this shd b placed in mthly gathering post leh..

  17. MaryC, Keong Saik Rd used to be a favourite of the Chinese towkays’………chauffeurs & sidekicks. When the bosses releaxed ay AirView hotel, metrople etc, they too had a good time there.

    However, some did prefer to do something else, a bit morbid tho like walking further to smith street where they met no mr smith but corpses lining up at wakes………sei yang kai.

    Of cos Dolly has no issue……….heeee, check her jhandbag and you’ll find a lot of tissues………..

    Last not least, the nearest MRT to Pearls Centre is Outram Park.

Will meet you wonderful people & hv a good time on Thursday. Once again, do apologise if i had inadvertently offended anyone with my remarks. I got feedback that there were some unpleasant gossips about me going on! I wonder why, since i don’t recall having offended anyone in SHC. Will need to be very careful from henceforth. Whoever i’ve offended, pls accept my apologies.

    Hi Lydia, just enjoy the Thai Disco lah.. These days, there r 2 many gossips going ard SHC, be it good or bad, my adv 2u is best 2 enor cos u cant help if there r ppls gossiping ard so y bother. Anyway there is always 2-side of coin so there is no absolute rite or wrong.

    We come to join SHC to enjoy watever activities interest us and not 2b bothered who is who goissip in front of behind our back, rite…

    Don’t take any notice about any gossip, that is if there are any. Just have fun and ignore those people who have nothing else better to do. They are just “chaik pah ka eng”.

    Apart from you and Joyce (which I know her and is sure dat she is SHC member). But for Rene and Lilian, I am not sure if they are. Pls provide their surname also as we have another Rene (Rene Leong) and couple of Lilians here.

    Right now, I will only register Joyce and Doreen first.

    It would be good if they can register on their own for any activities. If not, any names that we are not sure, a green light must be given by Terence (our founder) first b4 we can proceed.

Tis Thai Disco hor, dun expect them 2 play oldies, cha2 or rock n roll music ok cos I dun remember they played these d last time I was there.. Only those disco music only hor.. But den, like I said, we go there as an eye opener 2c wat is Thai Disco in Spore as compared to the 1 Terence brought us there at BKK mah, rite..

  52. Lydia @#40, haha “unpleasant gossips”? Gossips are never meant to please so they hv to be unpleasant. Dont wonder why : gossipers are low-lives loaded with shortcomings that they’re afraid to bear the brunt of open criticism and so try to shift the focus onto another, weaving tales larger than an elephant’s butt.

    Be yourself and be judged for what you’re, what you d0 & stand for, look beyond what meets the eyes and see beyond what you hear.

    The Chinese has this saying “lo yiao zhi ma li, ri jiu jien ren xin” (A horse’s stamina becomes telling after a long ride; a man reveals what he harbours in his heart after many days). Make friends but you dont hv to make everyone yr friend – too tiresome and you cant handle it.

    Most importantly, dont act on the saying “cant beat them so join them” !

    NOT to worry too much. SHC comes in all shapes and sizes and everyone is different.
    Some maybe good,some nasty ,some gossipers ,etc.

    As Dolly has pointed out , just IGNORE the troublemakers/gossipers and focus making friends with those you find pleasant and warm.

    For the Thai disco attendance, got other guys leh, like YK, Terence, Steven and Jimmy besides John Howe. But I think Jimmy come with wife (so not available, right). Nevermind then, afterall Dolly say it is disco music and that means no need partner oso can dance.

    Better not inform Boss got so few guys, cos if I tell him he might cabut oso. Let him come to the disco, then the whole week no need to go jogging anymore!!! He..he..he

    I believe it is those upbeats funky Thai music.

    Although I do not understand Thai, I love their “pop” beats which makes my body groove.

    Esp.the” CHINA DOLLS ” a Thai pop group which dressed themselves in Chinese costumes and hence its name and Thai famous pop singer Bird Thongchai which is well loved by both old and new generation.

    Ask Terence, he is an expertise on Thai “pop” scene.

    Thanks for offer the explanation but let me clarify again here and pls do not assume anything as it is reli entirely different from the Thai Disco in Bangkok.

    The disco Terence brought us to see the last time is catered more for local Thais whereby there is skit/comedy acts by the performer. All songs are usually in Thai.

    Here, SG Thai Disco, aldoe is in Thai lingo, but their show is not as crude as we seen in BKK. But, they are variations of songs – abit of English, Chinese and mostly Thais. This kind of same disco in BKK you can find in those upbeat market whereby the charges are much higher, e.g. at Novotel Siam (cost ard Bh1700/pax).

    So everyone going for this Thursday disco, just go there as an eye-opener and to enjoy drinks and dancing as I wun want sum of u go back disappointed.

    Bill, as I had mentioned in my post, they usually play those disco music. Dun expect that there will be cha2 music unless of cos, they sang Thongchai (Koo Gut) which they did the last time.

    I was told that from Upper Pickering Street to Pearl Centre is quite a walking distance but there is no direct bus going there. I hv make a check on bus directory, unless we walk across opp bus stop, facing Chinatown Point, there are numerous buses plying to stop at opposite Pearl Centre – I will be there at the gathering together with ANee and another 2 gals to bring you all along either by foot or by bus ok.

    As for those waiting at outside Outram MRT facing the Eu Tong Seng direction, pls be there by 8.00 sharp, YewKwong will be there to bring u all to the Thai Disco.

    Sorry, late comers, pls find your way to Thai Disco.
