  1. The CAAS isnt losing money and with volunteers doing the jobs many jobless are seeking, for free (or for a meal allowance since you do it in the spirit of volunteerism), I daresay, enough money will be saved to launch a takeover of citi with ubs thrown in as a sweetener.

    Or did I miss something?

  2. Hi RonW

Being to airport very often, T1,T2 n now T3,as am residing very near to airport, the food is great, the view is superb, many silverhairs ah peks doozing off the bench, enjoying the free air-con, instead of looking at the planes, going up n down, the best place to look for volunteers, leh, hehehe.

  3. Hi Ronald,

Please do not post for any person other than yourself. Every participant on this forum has to be registered. Do note this forum is not for advertising, including charity organisations. Mention of other organisations is allowed, if the member is participating in the mentioned event.

  4. Dear RonW

Have you actually asked Pheng Sok’s permission to post her ad here? There were other notices that Pheng Sok circulated to some of us via private emails and I had once checked with her why she didn’t post them here and she had said that she does not want to publicise them in a public forum. She prefers to send them to people she knows!

Theres no infringement of copyrights in RonW’s case. U nid 2 become members of RSVP in order tat u will be assigned duty after completing 3 full wk days of trg at the airport plus going thru 2 screening interviews. Anyone can join but u hv 2 sign up thru RSVP.

  6. Dear Yew Kwong

Nobody is talking about copyrights infringement lah. It’s just a matter of courtesy lor. If I send some information to you, and you would like to publicise it – you don’t need mine or anyone’s permission but you would at least wonder why I didn’t publicise it myself lor. Especially when I am also a SHC member and am capable of posting in the forum. Just courtesy right? If you don’t have any consideration for me at all, I might not include you in my cc list in the future haha….. Anyway, I’m sure RonW must’ve already informed PS about it before posting lor.

  7. Hi Lily,

She has sent many articles to me, one even on a cassette tape recorded by her and she did tell me it was up to me to decide if it can be put up in the forum or not.
So I also tikam, tikam sometimes Terence may not agree also. Sometimes I think it will be good to share, though I myself may not be joining in.

Thanks, YK to agree with me as i am just pasting what RSVP is encouraging Seniors to do and infringing any copy rights.

Steven, you did post this earlier but i guess it was not clearly seen as it was under a reply to some other forum. NOt sure if you did mentioned or not, but are you volunteering do do this also? Maybe you can share and can encourage others to join in too. What about allowance for transport or food, etc ? I think this is easier than being a tourist guide, which require you to pass a stringent test.

  8. Last weekend I was at CIA T2 to receive a friend
and I have to seek the help of a Airport Guide(in bright orange uniform)to locate my friend who did not emerge after his plane landed one hour ago. The lady guide, Helen, was very helpful and she went inside the restricted zone and found my friend and told him I was waiting outside. I thank Helen for her help. She then told me that she and the other guides will be terminated on 30 April as they are on a one-year contract.
It looks like CAAS is saving a lot of money by getting volunteer “Ambassador”, a very nice designation, to replace the Airport Guides.

  9. Hahaha!!

Could it be as Lum Fook says? Very soon there will be “ah peks” and “ah uhms” working for free at the airports!

“You waiting for someone??… he’s in the restricted zone?… His name again, I forget lah. Wait, wait, OK… My knees hurt today so it’ll take me some time to get inside. Also I need to go toilet first… Oh yes, what did you say you wanted?”

No wonder we get only 60 plus marks in our service standard.

  10. Hey Kenneth,

Reading your comment, I could visualise the sit/com…..Hilarious. I couldn’t help giggling long after ………………Jie

  11. Hee hee Kenneth.

We ARE “ah peks” and “ah mms” and have been for quite a number of years already mah.
I think we all have at one time or another ‘suffered’ from such lapses and aches and pains although some are too embarrassed to admit to them. ;-)

What to do? Age is catching up but we can still try to live our lives as well as we can ya?
    Cheers
from one ‘ah mm’ to another ‘ah pek’. Hehe.
