Hi ! SHCcian, I am Judy Lim & work as an full time Accounts/Admin staff in Logistics Company located in Changi Airfreight Center. Although I am not really a good singer/dancer yet this two activities are still my first choice of hobby. Beside that I also enjoy travelling. I was attracted by the name of ‘SILVER HAIR CLUB" thru the website & wondering what is the Association or Member club. After reading the forum, I would like to thank the founder - Mr Terence Seah to found the club to gather & brighten those in their 45 & above heart & social life. After my first attendance at the Bali Lane on 15 Mar 08, I noted the members are quite knowledgeable/friendly & looking forward to my 2nd gathering in D/D which in coming Sat. Lastly, I feel glads to join as a SHC member & proud that all of us 45 years old & above are still healthy & strong in our body to achieve senior citizen’s life. Cheer!!! Judy

  1. Hi Judy

Alice and I thank you for the information, and appreciate your giving us the full list of BOTAK JONES outlets. It was nice meeting you yesterday at the Bali Lane’s “Flea Mkt” day.

Hope to meet up at some other SHC events in the near future. C U.

  2. Botak Jones Toa Payoh is the best!

    Go on a weekday night…

    Not crowded
    Plenty of parking space
    Plenty of seats
    other stalls offering:
    Italian
    cheap Japanese
    Malay food
    Thai
    Waffles & great Sorbet

I support an eating session here!

  3. Sorry, Andrew

I was commenting on the outlet in Toa Payoh and cannot vouch for the other locations of Botak Jones.

The Toa Payoh outlet is in a factory canteen and there are many other stalls beside the BJ outlet.

It also happens not to be a very busy outlet and you can get seating with no long queues for the food.

  4. Hi Judy,

The Botak Jones in Clemneti also has long q.
I decide to wait for 1/2 hr for my burger.

My verdict: Nothing so spectacular that makes me wait 1/2 hr and the taste is just mild.

One’s meat is another’s man poison. Heard from SHC members that the one in ? organised by Grace Kok was good.

Same Botak Jones but with double standards.
In fact, I prefer Burger King’s burger at any outlets much tastier and more fragrant.

To pay for another BJ burger in Clementi for $8 is NOT worth it and mind you the waiting time is too long.

Will try BJ at other outlets to give a fairer assessment.

  5. Hi ! Steven,

Is worth to q if the foods taste good. I ever went to q for the cutterfish with kangkong in Bedok South blk 16 hawker for almost one hrs, is cheap & taste good.

    Ron,Yew Kwong, Andrew, Kenneth,SHCian,

Tks all of you to share the experience with me in maken, looking forward to join & enjoy with the nice foods.

    Cheer!

  6. Judy at #8

Yes, the cuttlefish kangkong at Bedok South market near to Temasek JC is good and economical.

Come to Blk 56, Bedok South opposite to my estate and try the Klang bak kut teh and other specialities.

    Cheers,

  7. Hi Judy

The Bedok South Blk 16 cuttlefish kangkong is my favourite, often quee not less than half hr but its quite satisfying when you get your order, the dish with lots of rich dark-red sauce over the cuttle-fish kangkong reign supreme. There is another stall as good as this one at Bedok End Hawker Ctr, is quite famous, with the brother next-door selling “Cheng-Teng”, but the price is higher, min $5/-(small) $10/- (large).

  8. Yes, opposite the former 3SIR, Ron.

They were former residents of the old Koh Siak Lim Road where the current Newater plant is.

Younger brother, Andrew, sells the cheng theng. The older one sells the cuttlefish kangkong, a former body-builder.

They are in business since early 70s there when the land re-claimation started, first to serve hungry national servicemen from 3 & 4 SIRs doing guard and stand-by duties.

Try also the Chee Chai porridge at Bedok North Rd market too!

Perhaps we can meet at one of the food joints and try the chi char too!
