TQ 4 ur compliments. No secret or priviledged training lah. Sori got 2 disappoint u gals. Me as usual cant do social dance but wild ones of cos. Disco (not disco rock leh) is my favourite otherwise will just stand n admire all the bums pun boleh lah.

  5. Good morning. I want to attend. Can anybody tell me how to buy ticket. I can do disco, Rockandroll, salsa, Latin Cha cha, Rumba,Waltz and other dances.

    Thanks Francis

  6. Hi Yew Kwong, Dolly & Lily,

We would like to attend. We are Jessie Teo, Juliet, Susan Chang, Ah Nee, Mega, Aaron, Lum Fook, John H and myself. Thanks.

  7. Dear Francis, Jennifer, Lina & gang, & others

Pay at the door and get your ticket for the 1st drink and receive ‘re-entry stamp’ on the arm. Entrance to Scarlet City is next to the cinema box office.

AMK Hub is linked to AMK MRT station and the bus interchange (somewhat like the HDB Hub / Toa Payoh style). Ample carpark in the basement or the open carpark next to bus interchange.

Those coming from work, there are plenty of makan places inside & outside of AMK Hub. You have choices from hawkers’ fare to small eateries and restaurants. You may form groups to have dinner before proceeding to Scarlet City.

It is fine with us if you do not wish to register your name here for whatever reason. You can still show up, pay at the door and go in. If you do not tell us you are coming, please excuse us if we do not look out for you.

We need to make this clear as we have had previously experience @ a Social Tea Dance – there was group of people who did not tell us they were coming, couldn’t find us because we have had a change of plan on the timing.

Thank you for your understanding. Cya :)

BTW, if we have a big enough group, we might be able to “pau” the whole place. Will let you know nearer the date. Stay tuned.

  8. Hi :

Yes, pls include me in this dance outing. I am keen to watch the TAIWAN superstar “Yang Xiao Ping”. Keep me informed on the dinner arrangements, ie. where to meet & what time. I am keen to join in the dinner too.

    CHeers, Lydia.

  9. “Francis Rajaratnan Mangalam (all kinds of dances including breakdance)”. Kindly correct it since I do not know breakdance. Know only social dances, Salsa, Batchata, Merengue, Rumba, samba, Waltz. I used to go out dancing wtih Lydia to Aranda country club and other places. So Lydia is the right person to tell what dances I know

  10. Sorry Francis
It was Yew Kwong who tries to be funny. Already deleted the remarks. Look forward to your participation.

    Dear Ann Lim
I was waiting to see when you are going to register. Welcome to you and Teresa

    Rgds / Lily

  11. Hi Lily

    Please include me.

BTW. how much does a member pay for entry. Have been a member for the longest time, but never attend any dancing at the NTUC clubs due to no kakis.

    Thanks

    Cheers
    Agnes

  12. Hi Lily,
Hope I am still on your list of people to talk to.
    Just a tip or suggestion.
If you don’t mind segregating the group to cater to those who like karaoke ,their song selection is not too bad.
    IMPORTANT TIP
Do not take the biggest room furthest from the entrance as the room is not soundprooof and you get the bass thumping sounds from their sub woofers next door.
Strongly suggest if you want to consider ask for the room nearest the entrance ie when u enter turn right and 1st door or room on the left. The sound and aircon works well and you can squeeze 16 people quite cosily into the room and you might get a chance to use 4 mikes at one time if they don’t have a full house.

Hope you find this tip useful despite my gentle admonishment in the relationship advisor post.If you have karaoke and if you don’t mind the company I would like to attend. How about it?

  13. Hi Patrick,
We would still prefer to have just a social dance nite i/o a combined 1.. But you still can choose to organise kok for those kok lovers, how abt dat?

  14. Hi Anges #21,

As a member, before 8pm, you get to pay Happi Hours rate of $2.70 for soft drink, like fruit punch,7-up, etc & $4.80 for mug of TIGER beer at Happy Days in NTUC Bishan. Entry for member is free & non-member $1 but if you forget to bring yr card, you have to pay $1, just like the non-member.

  15. “..$4.80 for a mug of TIGER beer at Happy Days in NTUC Bishan…”

Bishan was once a forest where tigers roamed. Thus, in memory & honour of Tiger, they will let you bring your own Tiger Mug the size of a tiger cage which will give you so much to drink from Happy hours in the Day into the Sad hours when you go back to work the next morning.

Then, what’s a Tiger Mug? Well, it’s a receptacle you use to mug a tiger and train it for the tiger show…..

  16. I think I’ll pass on the Karaoke EO offer.

I’m afraid if I’m the EO only Lily(i wonder which Lily) and Nancy(I wonder which Nancy) might be the only ones turning up. In the end the Quack Advisor might get spanked(verbally) by both sides. How I wish(fat hopes)than I will be in 7th Heaven. However I know they won’t waste time and dirty their fingers…they’ve got better things to do!

Lucky I’m not the EO for Halloween night . If I was Tim Liu ,Daniel Chan ,Danz Hwang and Steven Chan (you should be thankful I am putting you in thie elite company of “GHOSTS”).
D’ Artagnan alias TIM of course(Sorry Steven can’t led you lead as they might play Mutiny of the Bounty before coming and u guys will be late for my Halloween Party) and his 3 musketeers won’t even bother turning up.They ‘ll send their dentures(proxy)
which glow in the dark to chew me upside down…my butty Tim-Back-Too as usual will go for my butt,Daniel C will go for my Crown(clown),Danz will go for my Chest(Chess) and Stevie Wonder will go for the Chuchi(being a stickler for safety and pristine hygiene he will wash or “chuchi his hands 1st.) Tunnels.

The next day when I go to my office I will have to explain all the love bites all over my body and I’ll have to explain “got attacked by Hungry Ghosts alias the 4 Musketeers due fasting month cannot eat full meal so on Hallowen night they had me for dinner.

This joke I dare to mention the guys by name but terrified to mention the ladies directly as I don’t want to add to my one shoe collection of ladies shoes. If Lily and Nancy turn up on the 25th and become Cinderella at midnight than you know what happened!

I hope the 6 of you appreciate this ditty on the forum and don’t treat it as a lark or I will be punished by Big Daddy. I think I must enrol for ballet(ugh!) classes so I can learn to tip toe through the forum undetected without a lady’s shoe flying in my direction.

After indulging myself must go to Novena and hope the 2 ladies will forgive me for mentioning them…I am sure the Guys will forgive me but will return with friendly fire.(Tim might not just get an “RPG”-rocket propelled grenade…knowing him and true to form he’ll probably get his hands on a sidewinder(Tim has a big fetish for all kinds of sides: A-side ,B-side etc) missile.

  17. Hi Janet,
Just want to make sure that u did not register for the wrong outing hor.. There are 2 of abt same kind of events going on leh.. 1 – by Lily & gang on 25/9 and 1 by Danz on Dec 20 and sin u are addressing to both Lily and Danz, pls re-confirm lor.. Thanks…

  18. Wei Tai Lo, Yew Kwong

Please stop wrecking havoc on my post leh. I may be busy but I will still log-in to manage my own post. This is the second time I have to sort out the alignment problem already – so, mai kacau hor?

  19. Dear Jennifer

Thank you for registering your friend Lena Ho. Sorry it took me so long to respond as I was busy. Since this website is strictly for SHC members, if Lena is not a member, she can still join us @ ScarletCity but I will not register her name here. Hope to have your understanding.

  20. Hi Lily

I m innocent until proven guilty. Not me leh. Din do anything 2 ur post. Last saw ur post last nite n its Ok. Was out since early tis morn until I got home 10 min ago. Now I get 2 hear from u tat ur thread is wrecked.

Wld appreciate wif u take tis matter up wif administrator.

  21. Sorry Yew Kwong,
    – Most of the time when I check my post, all those who registered, had their name posted and I just assumed it was you or Dolly until Dolly confirmed she didn’t do it. Now I just got home, saw your’s and Stella’s message but her name was already removed. I didn’t do it and I’ve checked with Oi Cheng – she didn’t do it either.

    Dolly,
    – The post is ok liao becos I fixed it. It has nothing to do with the Administrator. I did my post differently so that when someone other than me, go in to add or delete names, the alignment will go hay-wire. As in this case, someone went in to delete Stella’s name.

    Whoever it is,
    – please stop. You should not abuse the trust the Administrator have given you. You have no right to go into someone else post to do editing.

    Terence,
    – you’ll have to do something about this.

  22. Hi Ah Nee

Why change your mind leh? Whatever your reason, we will respect it but should you change your mind again, and feel like joining in the fun, just feel free to come on that night ok?

  23. Hi Lily,

My friend Lena Ho has been trying to registerto SHC website, but has encounter difficulties logging in. Is there any other alternate way to help her register besides using the web? She is also keen in particapting in SHC’s activities. Hope you can help. TKU.

  24. Hi Jennifer

If Lena can view this SHC website, she should be able to register. Just click on the ‘Membership Application’ in the 3rd box located on the top left hand corner of this page. Print out the page using “Print Screen”.

If she can’t do that then, cut & paste on Microsoft Words. Print out the page, fill it out & scan to : admin@silverhairsclub.com

If she does not have a scanner, she can manually type out her particulars using MS Words or Excel and send as email attachment.

If this is still too much for her, she can mail the filled out hardcopy to : Robinson Road Post Office, P.O. Box 1973, Singapore 903923.

    Good Luck :)

  25. Haha Suzhang
Are the rest of your gang going to withdraw too? I hope not. Like Ah Nee, should you change your mind on that night, do feel free to drop in ok?

  26. Walau eh, gals leading gang-formimg in SHC huh? Since I cant join, will help with suggesting some names like Butterly Gang, Caterpillar Gang, Kena hang gang, Bang Bang Bang Gang, Gang-bang Gang……..even CKTang

Ah Sengh, forget abt your Men’s Nite lah. High time we too form our gangs, but we dont call them gangs…..not steady enough. We will have Men United, Gals-stalking-us-so-we-must-be United, MJ-BJ United, Patrick-K-n-his-shoes Finally United, Infidelity United………..

Then the Gangs and the Uniteds shall march down to Hong Lim Park to demonstrate what we the ah peks and ah umms can do…………yes, only if we were younger, sigh.

  27. Welcome, welcome – :)
Mary Chan, Janet Chan, Ann To & Peng Peng.

Wow, the women sure out-numbered the guys alot leh.

    Wei co-EOs Dolly & Yew Kwong…….heehee
Want to issue queue tickets for guy dancers bo har?.

  28. “Wow, the women sure out-numbered the guys alot leh”. Is that a problem? If it is, then some gals shd cross-dressed and the Lily with one Ho and her whole gang shd take the lead……..

  29. Ya Tim Liu

I already did that many times (except the cross-dressing part lah). Whenever I see some ladies sitting around not dancing, I will lead… or rather, drag…. them to the dance floor lor….heehee. Afterall, I can do the man’s steps for R&R, Disco Rock & Latin Samba rite? Hohoho….

  30. Lily.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I’d sure love to have a dance with you. I’m sure you can lead much better than some of the men I’ve danced with, hehe.

  31. Aiyo Mary Chan,

You don’t need me lah. There will be a long queue of guys waiting to dance with you lor ….. I where got chance? But should you get tire of them, sure — I’ll be delighted to oblige. Heehee…. Cya.

  32. Hi Mary,

Hymm, no need to guess who you were referring to lah, the sad part have almost forgotten almost everything, may need your help lah someday. BTw, I hope you did learn something from Sharon last night. Lily, for info Sharon if you remembered was the lady from Germany, who some of us met and had steamboat dinner with Linda, Andrew, and Cat 2 years back. She seemed to remember things I dont remembered but I know her from joining Globalfreeloaders, a group where you exchange arrangments to share accommomdation in your respective countries. So if she is in Singapore I am supposed to provide her a room and if i were to go to Germany I can ask (not a must) if she can offer me a room to stay.

Well she was back for a holiday and had a question how to get back her Singapore citizenship. But why, she got ‘no work pay compensation’ and met a younger partner who adores her, all this in Germany, so why come back to Singapore.

So maybe we should organise a dance holiday in Germany, hymm you ladies, will be spoilt for choice, they are not particular about ladies age at all, as long the ladies looks good and carries herself well.

So Lin, Cat and those who could not make it for dinner last night, you may missed a good lesson. Maybe Mary can be kind enough to share what I hope she learned from Sharon, if not Sharon is still in town for another week or so. Cheers

  33. Ron Wie.
What lesson did anyone miss? I don’t recall there being anything like that.
By the way, anyone who is not particular, can have their pick from all the Toms, Dicks and Harrys or Tammys, Dawns and Harriets for that matter, haha. There are loads around. Why the need to go to Germany for that?
No offence meant to her. I just think you are making something out of nothing.

  34. Hi RonWie

Have you forgotton? ,,,, I missed the steam-boat dinner?…. Remember? You sent me to pick up Catherine Yeo & Andrew Yueng, and I got lost??? By the time, I realised you’ve already picked them up but failed to informed me,,,, I was already very late and too upset to join the dinner?? Haha,,,, you betta take more gingko nut & don’t know wat berry berry to improve your memory hor…..hee.

  35. Hi Yew Kong, Dolly and Lily,

I would like to join in the boogie…oogie…on 25Sep.
Will be there with my CO. Hope to learn how to boogie from some shc veterans there.

Do keep me posted via email if there’s any change in venue.

    My email: wkender@ymail.com See ya..!

  36. Hi Patrick Lee
Is your CO a SHC member? If not, we will only register your name here. Please see comment #46 above.

    Hi Wee Chin
    You are in.

    Hi Lydia
So far, no one indicate any dinner plan leh. Most people go clubbing well after dinner. So, you might want to make your own dinner arrangement liao.

  37. Hi Mary, Lily

You missed the point lah, women outnumnber men greatly if we stick just to the same age group. But as Sharon has shown us (or if Mary prefer more matured men) German guys are not that particular of age versus compatibility, something I thought you all might want to consider. Singapore men seems to be under more stress and die earlier or have to work harder as there is no welware system like that of Germany, for them to have time for relationship etc. By the way Mary I guess you did enjoy meeting Angela’s sister who was your classmate from way back in primary school.
Lily, how could I have forgotten that incident, however you failed to mention that I did smsed and called you to inform you of the change to save you the trouble however your handphone was flat and you were unreachable. I had as much agony trying to reach you then until Sharon knew that I seemed to be preoccupied with my hp rather than talking to her.
However the message here is,I did consider of having you meet Sharon again but finally decided otherwise. Anyway as May has confirmed nothing really was lost or was there anything much to learn from Sharon’s experience of migrating to Germany, of how SHC people live over there and she is keen to learn of how SHC people socialise here, etc. Cheers

  38. Ron Wi
I didn’t miss any point. You obviously jumped to certain conclusions about what I had said. I did not say that I “prefer more mature men”. Ther word “Mature” has more than one meaning. It is not age related.

Anyway, how did you arrive at the conclusion that German men have more “time for relationship etc.” than Singaporean men?

By the way, what has the welfare system got to do with longevity?
I personally believe that it only encourages laziness. All you have to do is “show proof that you have been searching for a job” and you are eligible for welfare. So you can repeat the process of searching for a job several times a year and you get by on welfare without having to actually work. How nice!

Don’t mean to be rude to your friend, but I have different standards where my men are concerned. I’d rather not have a relationship if I have to have one with just anybody. I have more respect for myself than that.

Yes, I enjoyed meeting up with Margaret and recalling our school days.

  40. Hi LilyWillocq, Dolly and Yew Kwong.

Lily, thank you for organising the Social Dance Nite at Scarlet, AMK Hub on Sept 25th. My wife, Roselyn and I enjoyed the dance nite as much as meeting up with old and new members who came in support of the event. As the group was not too big, I managed to memorise some of our members’ names by hard.

Dolly, I’m glad that I sent you my avatar pic earlier. You were the first person to wave ‘hello’ to me when I reached the entrance of Scarlet that evening. Initially, I’d mistaken you for Lily until I checked again at a later time. Please accept my sincere apologies.

Yew Kwong, I only saw you once at the entrance when we came and once more before we left at the end of the day. Were you on the dance floor the whole night?

Dan Huang and Dennis – Its good to meet you again. Hope I can make it to watch you guys perform with the lovely ladies on Oct 15 at Kovan.

Susan Chan (steady poon-peepee) – Diamond studded dancing shoes wor … May I have the next dance with you ? but wait ar… I need to take some dancing lessons first then take a queue number and wait patiently from Chinatown to Kovan CC for my turn okay. Don’t want to get hamtum for jumping the queue!

Some new friends I got to know at Scarlet:
Oi Cheng – The kind Volunteer who take time out to put up digital pictures on SHC photo albums to share with all.

Francis R. Mangalam – An avid and versatile social dancer. If you need a dance partner, here is one who’s always ready to oblige.

Boon Liang – One of the many marathon endurance cyclists in SHC. Will cycle with you one day when I get more spare time.

Eileen Lee – The happy retiree and now enjoying life with grown up children and grand children around her. Thanks for sharing your interesting story with us.

Gingko and Bira – Seen your pics in photo albums before meeting you at AMK and read your posts. Am pleased to meet you gals n person, finally.

Lina Ho, Margaret, Mei Foo and many more(new members) whose names I couldn’t remember and did not get to know you all better, I hope to see all of you more often in future gatherings.

  41. Hi Pat @ Ref85:

Am impressed with your good memory of fellow SHCians of whom you’ve met for the first time at this Social Dance Nite.

Do agree with you there’s several good dancers within SHC, but your Ta-jie here is definitely far-fetched, as compared to those avid dancers around. With your flattery, I would need ‘to take to the woods’ soon!

Must thank Yew Kwong, Lily and Dolly ~~ for a most enjoyable evening of great fellowship!

    Cheers!

  42. Hi Patrick

TQ 4 ur compliments. 4 info, I m no younger than 53. I guess the dim lighting at the dance floor didnt gv u a gd view of me when I was dancing nx 2 u n Roselyn. I knocked ur arm n gestured thumbup 2 u but u gv me a surprised look. “Hey, y tis guy is so clumpsy”.

    Hi Eileen

TQ 4 ur patient coaching. I will try my best. Hope the nx time we meet, I will dance better but cant promise.

    Hi Lily n Dolly

Glad we hd organised tis event. Yang Xiao Ping brought bck the memories of e gd old dys.

    Hi All

May I take the lead to collate all the photos of Yang Xiao Ping taken on tat nite 2 compile into a collection 4 all 2 c. Clear or unclear, pls forward 2 me. Can? TQ.

  43. Wow! Yew Kwong, My jaw almost dropped when you say you are no younger than 53. No joke ! Its not the lightings in Scarlet that’s playing tricks with my eyes. I was already surprised by your appearance when we were first introduced at HANS.

Guess you must have kept aging at bay with the sports that you are actively involved in many years, I supposed.

Sorry that I didn’t notice anyone knocking into me. So you did take to the floor and boogie and you were the lucky guy who’s dancing with my SueTa-Jie huh.

Well, YKwong next time don’t go missing in action lah :) How can the EO go MIA when we have such good attendance (50/40)? Anyway, congratulations to all three EOs of this successful event. We had great FUN !

  44. Good morning SueTa-Jie !
Was happy to see you there although you had an earlier appt before that. You were so energetic. Any secret formula to that? Don’t think I’ll have the energy to hop from one function to another, especially after a working day.

Ok, whether you’re good dancer or not, you have not issued me with a queue number which I’m still awaiting. Yes, you can ‘…take to the woods’ but where can you hide? I’ll sniff you out!

  45. Ref87, Hi Bira

My memory wasn’t really that good. Have you forgotten that I brought my secret weapon along(commanding officer)? Haha.. for that nigt, I had my memory ram boosted from 256mb to 1 gigabyte! :)

From reading your name I’m just wonderig if you are from the Philippines?

Glad to know you, will see you around … Cheers!
