Date                  : Sunday, 2 November 2008

Time                  : 2.30 pm to 6 pm (estimated)

Itinerary           :

  • 3 pm – Singapore Flyer
  • 4 pm – Hippo River Cruise
  • 5 pm – Mongolian BBQ Dinner at Kublai Khan located on 4th floor Park Mall, Penang Rd. Package price only covers basic food spread excluding expensive choices of oyster, shark fin, scallop, etc. This restaurant does not serve pork and has many Muslim customers patronising it for lunch n dinner.

Charge              : $40 per pax (Limited to 49 paxs on first pay first serve). No Reservation.

Meeting Place   : 2.30 pm sharp at City Hall mrt entrance facing Capital Theatre. Transport is provided for whole event. City Hall mrt > Spore Flyer > Park Mall > City Hall mrt.

Closing Date     : First pay first serve or on 24/10/08 whichever is earlier.

Membership     : Strictly for SHC members.

Payment           : IB / ATM transfer to Loh Yew Kwong’s POSB Current A/C 796-03473-4

Latest Updates : 

The tour operator now gives us a bus that can ferry 45 to 49 (max) persons. We appreciate the remaining 3 members on the waiting list to pay up by 9 a.m. on Sat, 11 Oct 08. After this dateline, we will open up the balance seats to other members.  

Dining time will be before or latest by 5 pm.  and leave the restaurant by 6 pm.  Members can choose to leave from here or be transported back to City Hall mrt.  Non-participating members who wish to join the group for dinner will still have to pay $40 otherwise at the normal price of $29.80 you can have your dinner from 6 pm onwards.

Assembling time : Pls be punctual and present at 2.30 pm at City Hall mrt entrance facing Capitol Building.  Bus will leave on time after all paxs have boarded minus any late arrival (hope there will be none).

    Btw, the bus stop you mentioned ….is it the one just before the Esplanade stop.

About this 3 in 1 event, a handful of us have already bought the S’pore Flyer tickets months ago when it was on promotion. So can we just take the River cruise and buffet dinner? And at what cost….boleh tak? :)

    I am not sure what is Hippo River Cruise huh? A Boat cruising around the river? I have been to a Duck Tour 4 years ago…..A Tourist Bus toured around Marina Bay and then the 4 wheels rolled in and it becomes a boat cruising around the Marina Bay water. Is this the same as Hippo River Cruise? We may go on that day but not taking the 3 in 1 that you offered. Can we have our buffet dinner and pay separately? :)

    By the way, ‘Kublai Khan’ has a function room that can cater
    50 to 70 ppl. Will you be arranging to reserve that room.

    Dining time for package tour has to be at least
    1 hour i.e 5pm before the dine-in guests come in
    at 6pm. Price remain a $40/pax for the package
    whereas dine-in $29.80 with a bigger food spread.

    Nevertheless, will check with agent what other

    If and only if every event posted by the EOs are confirmed so quickly with CONFIRMED IBG transfers, it will made the jobs of the EOS much easier than to wait for a long time or collect on the spot. Also pls. note that reservation has to be made in advance with a confirmed number of pax as there are also other customers with advance bookings.

    It was really value for money and the dinner wasn’t as rushed as we thought it would be.

    The ride on the Flyer was fun, though not spectacular. Perhaps if it had been a night ride, it might have been nicer.

    The river cruise though not on the actual Hippo vehicle, was interesting enough.

    All in all, it was a quite an experience.

  117. The Singapore Flyer and Hippo pictures are very nice. So nice to see Hamidah in many photographs. Some SHCians have wondered where Steven Chan had been to, but looked like he is enjoying himself with the company around.
