  1. Hi! Anne Chua,

I only know that somewhere in Eunos Industrial Estate there are selling roasted duck, only cost about S$13.80 for whole duck & you may buy the Beijing duck’s egg skin from them, is cost $0.80 cents per pack,is really cheap & delicious, I am not too sure whether there have roasted pork meat.

  2. “Meat the Butcher”….check the website. The shop is along the stretch of shop house next to a German grocery shop, around Coronation Plaza, Bukit Timah road.

  3. There’s this roast meat stall tucked in a corner of a coffee shop near pagoda street close to CK (which sells clothes) along the fae-end of the road leading to Keong Saik Street which sells very good roast pork, partcularly roast duck. A bit pricey but I think it’s still value for money.

Best, the animals & birds are guaranteed dead.

  4. Hi Judy and Freda and Tim Liu,

Thank you all soooo much for your recommendation of roast meat seeking……wow! looks like I have to try all the three….Tim Liu, you are cute…with your quote haha…birds guaranteed dead….thank you all again…..
    Love, Anne

  5. Hahaha!!

It’s roast pork and duck… and it’s got to have value, besides being good and delicious. I think I have the better place:

Try the Kopi Tiam which also has a Botak Jones outlet at Block 211 Serangoon 4, Yio Chi Kang Link opposite the Serangoon Stadium. Simply the best roast pork, char siu, duck and, get this, honey-roasted pork rib! Succulent, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside! And at a money-for-value price!

Another gem in the Upper Serangoon area: Blk 261 Serangoon Central/Serangoon Central Drive, opposite the post office. There’s a small wet market where you get super-cheap veges, etc, a crab wholesaler who used to be in Serangoon Gardens, and several small stalls on the ground floor of the HDB block. You will find a roast meat stall selling pork and duck: also very reasonable and good. NOW, the GEM!! Go to the fresh pork seller along the same row and buy the ready roasted PORK TROTTERS!! You can have Oktoberfest anytime of the year!!

    Cholesterol-free!! No extra charge!!

  6. Isnt it cruel to eat burnt meat, esp with the spate of bad news in the papers lately……..

Most recently, we read of 10%-15% burn meat and they are fighting for their lives. More serious burns seen on New Year’s eve, with some roasted beyond recognition.

So, it wont ever whet my appetite as the mere thought of seeing scalded flesh is already repugnant…………….

Try roasted vegetarian pork, beef, duck, chicken even tortoise, you wont feel so guilty no matter what manner & degree you burn it…………..

  7. Hello again!

Thank you Kenneth and Tim on your info. Hmmm…yes Kenneth, thanks you reminded me of pigs’ trotters. Should try that…..Tim, er…once in a long while, pamper pamper of those roasted feast…but will definitely watch out on limit….Thanks again!
    Regards,
    Anne

  8. To all who like roasted meat…….

Thanks to kenneth tan #5, i found the Kopi Tiam at Block 211 Serangoon 4, “the best roast pork – Succulent, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside” And is so true…”at a money-for-value price” wonder if they add tenderizer to the meat as the price is truly very very reasonable……

    cheers

  9. Hi Freda,

Thanks for bringing this up. Have informed my family to try and will try on my next trip. Also, thanks to Kenneth Tan for sharing this in the first place.

  10. Greetings Geraldine

i so so missed those Hong Kong Desserts…….wheather it is the Yuen Kee or shops along the street their Tong Shui is just so yummy ……..so many variety to try if one can forget about the calorie count……

  11. Hahaha!!

It’s funny to see this post resurrected… I’d almost forgotten about the roast meat… not too healthy for your daily diet.

Anyway, I also miss the Hong Kong desserts that Freda mentioned… I still remember the small shop along the road towards the beach at Cheung Chau island… really yummy, yummy desserts with all kinds of ingredients.

And… also miss the duck and goose meat in Hong Kong. Geraldine: You must have your favourite stalls?

Oh yes, the Macanese food, the Portuguese egg tart, the dim sum, the super soups, the seafood, HELP!! I need to go to Hong Kong soon!

  12. Hey Freda,

Since you miss the desserts, time to make a trip here. Who’s counting? Kekkekeeee…….

    Hi Kenneth,

So you miss the desserts, too? As mentioned, maybe both you and Freda should drop by and I’ll accompany you guys. Not exactly a dessert person.

As for roast goose, it HAS to be Yung Kee which Patrick Lee had an indigestion, gosh, not totally appreciating the dish. Wonton noodles has to be Maak Ngan Kee (don’t know the english name; my translation.). Do you like snake soup? Yummy!! If so, then must visit during winter.

    Now I am hungry………….

Basically, food is really, really good here whether it’s the local place – very reasonable or ‘better’ places.

  13. Dear Geraldine,

Other than the ‘gui-lin-gou’ what are the rest of the ‘die die’ must try desserts in HK? I have this penchant for black sesame and peanut cream which also must be popular in HK.

Not so much into roast meat but fine with wanton noodles. Will get in touch with you when I head that way?

So sorry to have missed you while you were here but I hope that you had a good time and theres always another……

  14. Hello Catherine,

I like black sesame and peanut cream, too! Another dessert I will have is ‘red/white (HK way when ordering this – hong, paak) which is a combination of red bean and beancurd -both are my LOVE but can’t have one each (too much for me), so this combo is perfect for me.

We had a very nice chat over the phone. Yes, I had a great time during the short visit and we must meet up be it in HK or Sg.

    Take care,

  15. Hi Geraldine #13

Time to visit Hongkong? maybe later, at a better time where a walk in the middle of the day is a pleasure and also a nice get away from hot and humid Singapore! Indeed, it will be great to cross over to China to welcome the arrival of autumn. Wonder what the charges are like to fly budget airlines to northern part of China (such as Beijing) from Hong Kong? “kekekkeeee”

    Hi Kenneth #12

“not too healthy for your daily diet” agreed……but today we needed a quickie lunch hence I find myself back to the stall and ordered a small bowl of sweat corn soup. Aiyooooooo where to find $2.00 soup these days that taste so sweet corn, added with carrot and pork. Know of any famous Tong Shui stall?

    cheers……..
