Batam Weekend Trip (14/15 Nov.’09)

Dear Friends

Due to popular demand, we are thinking of organising a repeat of our first 2 days / 1 night weekend trip.   emoticon

  • Venue : Batam (or open to suggestion).
  • Total cost : Not exceeding S$150 per person.
  • Date : 14 – 15 Nov (jointly agreed by EOs & Terence, therefore not negotiable).
  • Limit : At the moment, we are thinking of 40 pax maximum.
  • So far, we’ve received only 2 quotes probably due to the LWE.  Am still waiting for more quotes to come in before I post further details on the package.  Meanwhile, you may choose your room-mates in private BUT, NO NEED to announce to me just yet until our hotel is finalised.  For all you know, instead of twin rooms, it could be 4 to a cabana or 8 per bungalow.  So, please hold your horses!  Here’s a tip for would-be-participants, we work in a systematic pace :  (1) Sort list and select package/hotel.  (2) Collect payment.  (3) Room allocation.  No payment, no room allocation.

I have blocked these dates in my diary. Just can’t wait to sleep, eat, play and watch TV in the room the whole day. Sounds like an opportunity to boost the Batam economy too.

Now with a group, Don Juan is not afraid that the ‘hungry’
beauties will kidnap a “leng chai” (cantonese lingo)

Please log me in for the trip though it is about 2mths away.
Early bird catches the worm lah! Have mark the date in my diary. Thank you.

    8. A short trip is to recharge. Hence, we just let lose any inhibitions and act gila. To show that life is never too serious. It has its moments of wild fun.

Maybe we can hold a beauty and handsome contest in swim trunk for men and obviously bikini for ladies to parade down
the pool. I can provide the two outstanding guy and gal prize. Under one condition: whoever they are must stay together one nite in Hotel 81 with dinner throw in. Hahahaaa! No joking.

    9. Computer was out for the past weeks. I am still trying to catch up with all the “excitement” that I’ve missed in this forum. Glad that I have not miss out this one.

Hi Lily, please include me…I’m planning a trip back in Nov…also a good opportunity to catch up with all of you at one go. Thanks.

      Ivy

That giraffe (Steven chan) is always slow in everything. Never reply sms, never answer phone call. Always say have no time. Don’t waste your effort to call him to join. He will reply after one month.

And now he has a camel to contend with. No wonder he is a “wang lau woo”.(mandarin lingo)

      StevenC, buck yourself up man!

    19. #32 Aiyoh Ah Nee Nee,

Hotel 81 is not for style but for action only.
Don’t pretend to be innocent hor! Not joking,
that is the prize plus dinner throw in. Dinner:
‘Teochew muay’ in Red-light Geylang. Hahaha!

      DonJuan

    20. Hi Patrick Lee,

…..Under one condition: whoever they are must stay together one nite in Hotel 81 with dinner throw in. Hahahaaa! No joking.

Choy ! Choy ! Choy ! of all the hotels in Spore.
      No Class! Hotel 81. Hymmeh

WHAT Patrick Lee DJ , you are promoting premarital SEX among SHCians ? Surely a religious guy like you would think otherwise.

Surely a BIG time retiree like you can easily sponsor
the Mandarin hotel instead with buffet dinner thrown in. Right?

    21. Wow, so warm a recption in here, credit to you again, Lily.

Have not worked on Saturdays, now do but since I am taken to Batam occasionally, might be there that day and if there’s still room left, will join the daredevils to do that unforgiveable midnite swim with sexy nukes again.

Btw, Nor, if you cant find enough curtains, look no further than Patrick-L. Since he Dons everything, he will have many cheong sum ma kua for you to hang and if you still feel it’s incomplete, this 6446 wd not hesitate for you to hang him at yr window…..there, even upside down, he’ll get to see you day and nite, a secret wish he has been praying, since let out of KK hospital, to fulfill.

    22. StevenC, your mind needs cleansing. What make you said Hotel 81 is for sex. You dirty long man.
‘The mind that is wandering is a dangerous mind’

    23. Hi Patrick Lee ,

….StevenC, your mind needs cleansing. What make you said Hotel 81 is for SEX.

Even my secondary students also know. Whatmore ?
Ask any man on the street where is hotel 81, and you will see their CUNNING smile.

Hotel 81 is infamous for short time stay.
      You know what I mean.

    24. Aiyoh StevenC why you so blunt hor! When you draw a portrait you need not ‘draw the intestine’ right (cantonese lingo) dont be a goondu lah! Certain things need not say, people will know. Are you testing the SHcians intelligence? Wake up your ideas OK! hahahaaaa!

    25. Aiyayah…..you two long and short huh, careful hor. If smthg is known, we know it but to openly say it when it operates a biz, kena sue for this and that then how? Damages awardeed can be punitive hor, meaning even if you two work the rest of your lives in the circus’ animal show, jumping thru fire rings, picking skirts with mouths or danzing on tails it still wont be enough to pay…………….

    26. Hello, hello Nor and Ivy,

Heard you ladies all the way in the market, kekekkeee………yes, yes, must join. EOs, please register me. Thank you!

Can imagine the fun we’ll have with Ivy there, Sweet Nor making curtains, Caroline (hello) with a sarong on her neck (I must try), Patrick L all psyched up, frothing and foaming with spittle flying.

As it is I am good to go, subject to the girls’ schedule – school thing. Fingers cross they do not have any BIG event, so girls, mama is going to have fun!!

It would be nice for Steven (the long) to join and I hope Dan and Joy, Andrew can join too.

Really looking forward to meeting the gang again and members whom I have yet to meet.

    27. #48 My sweet sister G

Wow! you really coming to join us in Batam har! StevenC will rush to see you. Other guys will queue up to peep at you in G-string only if they goes to Batam. After that mayhem! Guys will start ‘hamtam’ each other for your affection. See the power of attraction in you.

I better just watch from the byline. You will be the finalist in the parade show and you may enjoy the nite stay at Hotel 81 if StevenC is the male winner and you the lady winner. Good luck!!

    28. Yay!!!

Geraldine and Ivy coming for the trip.

With the rest of the gang, I think we can pull the house no I mean hotel down kekeekekeeee

      Dear Geraldine

My sarong sold to the karang guni man long long time ago.

    29. Hey Patrick,

Honestly, I have no idea there’s a Hotel 81, let alone what Hotel 81 is famous for until I read Steven’s comment. CHOY!, indeed. A charge-by-the-hour kind of place?? Lei yau mo gau chor? Cheapskate.

Please withdraw your prize and that scary dinner. I will only take part if the prize is a night stay at the Fullerton’s and a nice french cuisine.

    33. Hey, wait for us, we are coming! Certainly will bring back sweet memories of yesteryear. I will always remember the first Batam trip and all the lovely and crazy people I met.

After that trip I made a comment of how good i felt among all you good folk and how I felt a deep sense of belonging and only Yew Kwong reassured me.

I must go back in time and find out what I actually commented!

      Danz4Joy!

    34. Norlinda,
Do not know where but somehow they will be landing in other destinations..calling A,A,B,E,J,J,L,N,P,Z ….haha..

    37. Thank you Yew Kwong @ #57.

As I doubt whether i cd be released on that Saturday, may I ask that my place be allotted to someone who can confirm at this point in time?

Needless to say, if the hotel has a spare room to take 2 more, Marilyn and I will certainly want to join in the celeb from afternoon and into the rest of the unending nite till the pool is swum dry.

Hope Lily as EO and everyone else will understand that i aint making an exception for ourselves but just that work comes first, not least when the challenges are so interesting and had to be solved quickly.

    38. Today, while at work, I received smses from a few people telling me that the response was very good and I thought, hmmm…. we should be able to fill up the 40 pax hopefully by mid Oct. When I arrived at Gilman Ht this evening, I was told : registration closed already! “Huh? Closed? Closed by who?”

THANK YOU FOR SUCH OVERWHELMING SUPPORT! This post was put up late last night, asking for suggestions and ideas .. and you people started ‘choping’ already. Before registration is opened, it’s now closed …. wah piang!

Anyway, I’ve listed the names in alphabetical order. Please check the post. If you have registered but your name is not in the list, do let me know.

Now,…. can I have some suggestion please? Any idea where we are going to stay? Booking a F&E package thru travel agent was my intention, but if you have got better lobang and willing to share…. let’s discuss here.

From experience, herd instinct causes people to do impulse booking which they may later want to back out. So, late comers – don’t fret but register on the wait list. Any up-coming vacancy will be filled on a FCFS basis.

    39. Tim, I hear you. Both you and madam are welcome to join in the fun but you may have to make your own booking if you come in too late. Let’s play by ears ok?

Susan & James Tan, will put you both on wait list for ‘2-to-go’ unless you want to be separated as right now, we only have 1 vacancy.

Janet Heng & hubby – you are on the wait list after Susan & James.

      Nite nite.

    40. Hi Geraldine,

Yes, we wouldn’t miss this outing of mingling with old and new friend. Sure glad to have this soo kee sister coming all the way from Hong Kong to join us.

Much have been said about your power of attraction though at this stage of your life. Those who miss you on your last trip back here are waiting in anticipation to meet you!

      Danz4Joy!

    41. Hello Dan,

So heartwarming when you mentioned ‘this soo kee sister’.

My so-called attraction is due to my big smile and sincerity, not to mention the good vibes.

Really? ‘waiting in anticipation’. Wow………I am WAITING IN ANTICIPATION to meet new friends as my ‘old friends’ will be there with me. It’s a pity Steven and Andrew are not joining.

    42. #54 G soo kee mai

You can wait long long hor! Fullerton Hotel. The idea of the prize is the action that come after the trip. You never know who will pair of with whom. It happened at the last Padang trip.

Hotel 81 is chosen because it received the ISO 12155
certification. So any newly met pair who won the prize can finalise their action with a romantic dinner and history is in the making. Hahaha! who knows maybe it is you and me!! LOL

      LeePat the Don Juan

    43. Patrick darling,

CHOY, CHOY, CHOY!! You and Me??!! Choked to death and please, spare me………..

I should be impressed with the ISO yada, yada? What do they do – clean the room every 15 seconds??

Yes, we never know who will pair with whom, but your cheapie prize………you’ve totally lost it. BIG TIME!!

Go to sleep. Have you meditated? You have? Time to take your medication and please increase your dosage; for the Batam trip sakes. Kekekkeeee.

    44. Good morning sweetheart G-Ting missing S and R #77.
After my meditation and that is my medication everynite before I sleep. And that was 2.37am. And walau! what are
you doing at 3.07am huh! Cannot sleep and thinking of me right, your darling.

Sweetheart, sleep well and don’t forget to cover with a warm blanket huh! The cold nite is the devil’s delight.

What a wonderful morning today. Going to Gym later with
your dream boy Steven Chan. He is hoping to develop into
a Arnold Swazzenegar(wrong spelling) for your acceptance, hahaha!

Can you solve the missing S and R in G-Ting, tsk, tsk, tsk.

Please post my name with a PatrickL (L) at the end to identify the right Patrick. Too many Patricks in SHC lah.

      LeePat (S J)

    45. Hi Patrick Lee / G-Ting, at #76,n 77 ,

ALAMAK! Patrick , Puchat. Poor Thing.
“Nee Foo Si Ker Learn ” like the song goes…..

NO wonder he is going to gym to PUMP up his muscles and wearing his HAT to become more Metromale to attract

      Guess Who ? Hymmm.

What in the world are you doing at 2.31 AM , still thinking of Geraldine Ting and her “pleasurable” spanking on yr bums till it is Hoong Pok Pok ?

Fart Thor Teit Moong Lah! and carry on meditation day and night to the stage where you may meet Orw Leong Sik Neou.

      Ha! ha! :)

Fatt Thor Teik Moong and carry on Meditation till you meet the Orw Leong Sik Neou.

    46. Wow… wow… I only heard about this trip on the way home from the SHC meeting last night… and it’s selling fast like hot cakes! YES.. pls include me. I want to go, so pls put me on waiting list. Can we increase the no. of pax?

      Thanks,
      Lydia Chin

    47. Thank you Lily @ #73.

If things pan out nicely, we’ll make the ferry. land tour and hotel bookings ourselves, and will join you folks only in activities which “outsiders” can participate, such as see-hunt for see-hum which wont cause interruption to yr programmes planned for those who have signed up.

    48. Hi Lily,

I suggest you try “Pacific Palace Hotel”. It is new and within walking distance from the Ferry Terminal. The rate for a Deluxe Room is about I. Rupiah 480,000/- and the price for the ferry ticket is S$48/- for 2 ways. I was told that there is also a good “Tze-char” stall nearby. If you check all the info and make an early booking, you don’t even need the services of a travel agency.

I have not been there before but will be going there on Sunday morning with my friends who go there often. If you like, I’ll find out more information for you.

      Have a great weekend.

      Cheers!
      Angela.

    49. Hi Angela

I went into the website and see they have 2 ktv rooms, spa, swimming pool, disco.. Location maps, rooms are under construction so since you are going there this Sunday, could you bring back some brochures for us and if you have the rates during the Nov period would be helpful for Lily and organising team to consider.

Thanks and have a good time!

      Oi Cheng

    50. Gosh Lily…I was in M’sia for 3 days, back late last evening, today gone to work and now had time to log into forum…and I see all 40 places taken up liao :-)))

I wld like to ask this very nice lady to share room with me but I hve her email address in the office, so can only email her on Tues (she hardly log into the forum).
Pls chope 2 places for me meanwhile can?

    51. To friends who missed this post, I’m truly sorry.

To those who approached me privately, my sincerest apology -I will only accept registration thru this website. As EO, I want to be as transparent as possible. Already, the word “kelong” have been used. The fact is, those who were active on the website, saw the post and immediately informed their friends and even helped each other register. I honestly did not tell anyone when I’m going to post. Not even to my co-EOs. And I posted around midnight right after I’ve got the clearance from Terence on the dates. So, be fair to me. There is no “kelong” here.

Since I’m still waiting for the quotes to come in, there is a chance we might increase the capacity but I will only do so if it does not compromise the comfort of everyone else. Alternatively, like Tim, you can make your own arrangements and join us in activities outside the package.

Hope to furnish more info soon. So, please stay tuned especially for the payment closing date which could seive out vacancies from those who changed their mind about going.

Can hardly keep my eyes open. Got to go to bed now. Nite nite (~.~)zzzz

    52. Hi Lily,

It is never easy to be an EO. You have been doing a very good job so far. Appreciated.

Geraldine and I have agreed to make our payment together to save on your admin. However, I might have difficulty paying via electronic transfer from HK cos my account in Sg is dormant for too long…need to be activated in Nov. I can either send you a SGD cheaque or get a third party to pay on our behalf first…any ‘Ah Long’ want to raise hand? For loan interest (in kind only), I can buy you kopi and roti tea set. Any takers?

    53. This 14-15 Nov 2009 trip to Batam isnt the first and wont be the last. So whoever misses this boat arent jettisoned into the sea of despair but could themselves organise another similar trip.

Lily has made it very clear at the outset that the maximum take is 40 and this must be the number she can comfortably work on. She is motivated and cheered by this great response so to distract her with whimpers of kelong certainly wont do her planning any good.

Ivy, I can help out with your 2 payments but will probably do so on the last day giving me some time to roll on the money and earn some interest first, hehe.

    54. Hi Lily,
Wow! Thread up on 16th & now its already FULL. Wld love to join you all on this trip. Do put me put on WaitList. No one coming along so either by myself or share room with any ladies going by herself. See how lor. Thanks!

    56. Dear Lily,

    59. Hi There,

Sorry for not replying earlier due to LWE (I have a life to live you know). Name list have been updated. Please check for error. Any mistake will be dealt with in due course. (There’s no need to push me.)

So far, we’ve received only 2 quotes probably due to the LWE. Am still waiting for more quotes to come in before I post further details. Meanwhile, you may choose your room-mates in private BUT – NO NEED to announce to me just yet. For all you know, instead of twin rooms, it could be 4 to a cabana or 8 per bungalow. So, please hold your horses!

Here’s a tip for would-be-participants, I work in a systematic pace : (1) Short list and select package/hotel. (2) Collect payment. (3) Room allocation. No payment, no room allocation.

      Thks & Rgds / Lily

    60. Hi

In addition to Lily’s #103, payment must be done on or b4 dateline by IB, atm transfer, cheque or cash deposit at bank on your own. When done, drop a comment here or by sms if u hv my number.

      Thank you.

    61. Hi Lily/Oi Cheng,

The rates for Pacific Palace Hotel are as follows and are inclusive of breakfast for 2 persons:

      Superior: Rp 498,000/-.
      Deluxe: Rp 550,000/-.
      Executive: Rp 650,000/-.
      (Ex. rate was S$1/- = I.Rp 6,800/-.

The Chinese restaurant offers an “Eat All You Can” Tim-sum Buffet on Sundays, for I.Rp. 50,000/- only.

The good thing about this hotel is that we could take a 15 min walk from the Ferry Terminal (Harbour Bay which was formerly known as Batu Ampar) to the Hotel. Another plus point is the outdoor foodcourt which has a few seafood stalls. The website address is: http://www.pacificpalacehotel.com

A friend of mine who is working in the Singapore Consulate there recommended “Pady’s Spa” which is near the Ferry Terminal. They offer very good 2-hour Traditional massage for only S$20/-. There is also a good Traditional massage centre outside the hotel.

I saw a few bicycles on the ferry but did not enquire whether there is an extra charge for bringing bicycles on board. You can call them at Berlian Ferries Pte Ltd 62720501 to find out more.

I hope that the above information is sufficient for you to make a decision. In case you do not like this hotel, you can also check out Novotel which is just opposite Pacific Palace Hotel.

      Cheers!
      Angela.

    62. Dear Dan
Thanks for your effort in helping me collect quotes. I’ve been to Nirwana Bintang and stayed in a 4-bedroom bungalow before. Don’t think such package is suitable for our large group on the following reasons :

      1. Bintang is further – longer ferry ride thus, takes up our already limited ‘fun’ time.
      2. Ferry ticket cost more – thus, eats into our budget unnecessary.
      3. Ferry terminal – not very convenient for those taking public transport. Changi Ferry Terminal – reacheable by taxi or car only (both ways hor).
      4. Bungalows although can accommodate more people but who’s getting the master bedroom with attached bathroom, and others in common bedrooms with shared bathroom? Too much hassled to work out how much more or less each individual have to pay in accordance to the type of rooms allocated, and if you charge all the same price or go by balloting, there will be squabbles. I want to enjoy too and absolutely dislike panadols. So, I am forgoing this deal.

Your Batam quote is more suitable and I will make comparison with the quotes I’ve got. If I have the time, will recce the hotel before committing, or Terence will. So, stay tuned to the website.

      Dear Angela
Noted with thanks for your feedback. Have look into your recommendation but do prefer a package deal like we did the previously time. With our number, we even got a Singapore guide to take us to Batam and took care of the check-in and transportation for us. Thank you anyway – for being so helpful. :)

      Rgds / Lily

    63. Lily,

I took my kid to the Turi beach resort during this March’s holiday break. We were housed in a hut, close to nature with 24-hour room service, unsolicited.

See, hours before we checked in, the chambermiads went to tell the occupants to leave the hut. Becos they didnt speak the same language, the inhabitants came back to cook, eat and sleep. My daughter and I had great fun jumoing on the bed with the monkeys. We also got to ride giant lizards into the forests to look for durians. It was a teary farewell after 2 timeless days, with the monkey prince exchanging vows with my kid. He gave her a 1-foot banana to keep; in return, she lookeed him in the eyes with love so deep which made her daddy flip and cdnt sleep.

The resort aalso has cleaner deluxe/superior/suite units which adjoin concierge. The pool is not bad and there’s a very long jetty stretching far out which will spoil anglers with promise of hooking mermaids or geet pulled into the sea by sea snakes. One can also dig the sand for surprises. Cockles are aplenty but in my case, I found a hand grappling at me, with the words “Whoever the hell you’re, just get me out of this damned pit”. I declineed since it looked like the hand of Sengh and so was not a damsel in distress.

Alas, the resort does not run a bus service to town altho a taxi (costing abt 100k rupiah one way) will take you to Batam Ctr/Nagoya Ctr in abt 30 minutes.

While food is not priced to please, neither is it to desist. There’s a lounge and the resident singer probably doubles up as the ccok in the day. But who cares if he dares (to sing).

I dont remember seeing a k’ok room or a danz hall so the nite cd be a tad too placid if you cant create some excitement at the poolside.

It cost us slightly over $300 for the 2-nite stay (inclusive of ferry & land transport).

    64. Hi EOs,

Wah, so much excitement here !!

Please put us, SK Chua and me on wait list.
We know chances are slim but nvm, in case
you are able to increase the intake. Cheers
