  1. Morning Steven Chan

Thanks for being the first to register your support. This is the first time we are cycling at Pasir Ris Park.

The Pasir Ris Bus Interchange is directly opposite the park. There is a footpath (opp. Bus int.) that cuts thru the park to the bicycle kiosk.

    See you this Sat :)

  2. Hi Douglas n cycling kakies,

My apologies for not able to join too. Need to attend a function at 6pm.

Charles – wish you have a speedy recovery after your op.

    Janie

  3. Hi Douglas/Lily and All,
Apologises, can’t make it this Saturday.
Have a prior BBQ appt made.
    So, enjoy your cycling.

    Douglas,
Have checked out the Google Map weblink provided above.
Can you please advise the cycling route of this Saturday via private email to me?
Because I like to know how to “Link” from Pasir Ris Bicycle Path to Punggol/Lorong Halus Wetland Park.
i.e. How you “connect” from say, Pasir Ris St 72 to Pasir Ris Ind Dr 1? Because there is NO Bicycle Path to connect it. Thank you.

  4. Hi Lily,

    V. Sorry I did not see the time 4pm. I assume it was morning like in Punggol park. I had to attend a group dinner at 7pm. Not possible to rush to my destination on time. So pls. take off my name. Will join future rides.

  5. Hi all

You may also indicate here if you want someone to wait for you after alighting from PR MRT stn.

I will be infront of White Sands Shopping Complex between 3.30-3.45pm.

cycle together from punggol park (taking the reverse

route recommend by Douglas and return together with them)

    Thanks
    Eileen

  9. Hey EileenA #15,

Good idea to do the reverse route.

Only issue is; will have to start out from Punggol Park earlier (around 2:30pm??) to meet up with Douglas’s group at 4pm at their Starting Point.

Mmmmm 2:30pm quite hot leh! With the afternoon blazing sun on our backs.

TENTATIVELY, put me in for this reverse route.

Hope more can join in for this reverse route too…..

p/s: My 7pm BBQ appt is at Punggol Park itself….so the schedule/timing just fits in nicely too :)))

  10. Hello hello….got reverse route huh? I also want leh, hate to load and unload my 17 kg foldable bike into the car booth if I start from Pasir Ris Park.

Ivan & Eileen…..I am contemplating to join you all, will see how’s the weather tomorrow.

    Cheers :)
    Ah Nee

  11. Ivan & Eileen

Please confirm again by tomorrow on the reverse route. Btw Ivan, how come you always got BBQ at Punggol Park on the same day as cycling event?? hehehe…

    Ah Nee

  12. Hi Douglas,

Will you be cycling back to Car Park C, Pasir Ris Park. Please also advice whether foldable bike can tahan the long journey? If return trip what time it will end?

  13. Johnny,
Douglas group will of course be riding back to Car Park C – Pasir Ris Park. Bcos some still have to return the rental bikes there.
I believe the total route will take about 2-3hrs (max) and foldable bikes of course can tahan for sure.

    Ah Nee,
It’s due to volunteers works, so sometimes BBQ are organised to thank the volunteers for giving time and efforts.

    Eileen Ang,
Riding the reverse route on or not? I don’t have your hp. Please reply by 1pm today. If no reply, will assume it’s off.

Anyone else joining the reverse route, please let Eileen knows too. Thank you.

  14. Hi Ivan,

Thanks for your analytical response. Hope to see you midpoint. Need to leave home now.

#10 Please include me for the route you taking. Sorry for last minute registration.

  15. Hi all

    Take note

Since no one will be waiting at White Sands Shopping Mall, I will proceed straight to the Bike rental kiosk at Pasir Ris car park C.

We move off at 4pm sharp.
We will wait for slow riders but not later comers

    cheers

  16. Aiyo…look like I will be “chow tah” (toast till black)with this kind of weather. :(

Ivan & Eileen, not sure if your plan is going ahead? I change my mind now…..better start my cycling at Pasir Ris Park at 4.00 pm. :)

What I am going to do is my son will fetch me to Pasir Ris Park and help me with my foldable Bike. From there I cycle home lah….hehehe

:( From Halus Wetlands……still it’s quiet a distance for me to cycle home!

    Cheers, Ah Nee

  17. Hi Irene & Lydia

    See you later…alligator. :)

  18. Thank you once again, to Organiser Lily and Leader Douglas, for the exciting and enjoyable cycling today. Never have I experience afternoon, evening and night cyclings, all within the same day.

    LS

  19. Hi Ivan & Ah Nee,

Very sorry, I did not go to the post and follow up only until this evening. As i only have Lawerence and Alan Ang
mphone, i contacted them and arrange at 3pm at punggol park
    bicycle rental kiosk….

  20. You are welcome Lydia. Fully agree with you, today’s ride is really enjoyable. All thanks to great support and morale booster from fellow seasoned cyclists that surprised us with their presence ……

All in, there were 12 of us and we went from Pasir Ris to Punggol waterways, Punggol point, stopped at Popeye for dinner and then back to Pasir Ris. It was wonderful to cycle thru places we would otherwise not have known or seen and the beautiful sceneries …… wow.

Thank you – Douglas for leading us. Thanks to all who came – Ah Nee, Ivan Lim, Johnny Pow, Yew Kwong, Alan, Joyce, Audrey Wong, Eileen Ang, Lydia Soh and Irene Poh.

Next month, Douglas and gang will be away on the 3rd week of the month. So, either we do it 1 week earlier on the 2nd Sat or skip the month of July because the 4th Sat is our Arabian Nite.

If you are keen to join us, please stay tuned for further announcement.

  21. Wow so enjoyable and so sad dat I had missed this ride. Having a very back pain n hv 2 rest in bed as advised by doc.

Hardly will like to miss d event as I had always enjoyed very much.

    Cheers… Dolly

  22. Hi Lily,

Just read #25 Oh goodie! I no pro leh. :) Still riding on 20″ wheel. Now whole body aching. Chia lat to go uphill. Going down slope very scary. Front brake not working and back brake press bicycle still can run. However still need to thank you for posting this event that i got the chance to ride with 11 fit and steady riders.

#22 Douglas, Now i know you. When you said turn left go straight reach already means another 5km :) Thanks for leading the uphill downhill route. Although my kaki lembek now on recovery it should help me move around the badminton court with ease. :)

  23. Hi Lily,
Just wondering what time you all reach back to Pasir Ris Park to return the rental bikes.

    Btw Douglas,
What was the total distance for the route cycled yesterday?

And to all the rest of the riders,
Any hesitations about cycling on the main roads like what we did for a good portion of the route yesterday? Please give your feedbacks here too.

The above info are inputs for future cycling events thots. Thank you.

  24. Dear cyslist…

Lily has said it all….the FUN and laughter we had during the cycling trip! Our leader, Douglas has demonstrated his professionalism, armed with a whistle…”pee pee pee pee” means keep left, “pee pee pee” on the road, in single file and “pee pee” ready to start the journey again…hehehe :) “macam” in the early day traffic police, hahaha

Johnny, actually Douglas has in mind to train us for future challenge like the Desaru trip. The uphill and downhill caught me by surprise! Very “chia lat” leh….some of us went grasping for breathe, wow! :(

After all the sweating and burning of calories, we had a sumptuous popeye meal at the punggol promenade. I want to thank all for the great company, especially the EOs, Yew Kwong & Joyce Tan for chipping in to help.

I am very fortunate to have Eileen Ang, Audrey Wong, Joyce Tan to stay with me for the evening ride home. Thank you all and wish to see you on the next cycling event. :)

    Cheers! Ah Nee

  25. Hi Ivan

I think the group reached the kiosk close to 8pm if not earlier.

The distance done was more than 10km. Quite a feat for most of u.

Cycling on the main road offers a better option at times. Safety precautions must be exercised. Like we did yesterday, we stopped at exit/entrance n slow down/stop traffic to let our members moved first is an example. Breakaway group will wait n regroup wif rest to move together, etc. More can be shared at next session.

  26. Hi Cycling guys,

I see one day you may be cycling to Desaru. I love it, not that I will be cycling there, but maybe we can time our family day together there. See you there.

    Terence Seah

  27. Hi all

Thank you for the monthly cycling fellowship, it was fun cycling with you all, I am sorry to have make you all cycle up and down over the 2 small slopes in Punggol and on the road.

    Hi Ivan #33
I don’t have the distance covered but we can take Yew Kwong’s recorded distanc as 10km

    Hi Terence #38
We do have plans for a cycling trip to Desaru but you may have to wait a little longer. We have to wait until Lily and Ah Nee say that they are ready to go.

I had emailed all those photos taken yesterday to King Seng.

    See you next month

  28. Yew Kwong (and Douglas)
Thank you for the photos. Thanks also for letting us know we had clocked in 10km. Had I knew before, I would have given up before I even started.

At one point when Douglas blew his whistle “pee, pee, the bus stop, the bus stop” – I was happy thinking we finally going to take the bus. But ….. what he meant was to regroup at the bus stop. *disappointment*.

At last, I understand the cycling leaders’ lingo – be it from Charles Wee, Yew Kwong, Ivan or Douglas…… “we are almost there” – means another at least 5km.

  29. Hi lily/Douglas
once again thank you much for I’ve had so much fun & an adventurous ride being a “novice” cyclist it’s a feat to cycle on the road. (didn’t know I cld make it) Kekeke
Douglas, you been great helping to fix the bike & looking out for us to ensure we are not lost.

    Cheersss

  30. #36 Yew Kiong,

will the photos eventually be posted in the Silverhairs Club?
Noticed that the uploaded photos are in your private web albums. One goes, the photos also go, at least leaving in the club website it will be there permanently, unless Terence decided to tear down the Silverhairsclub.com

  31. Hi YewKwong/DouglasC,

Just did a mapping distance measure on the route taken for 23Jun2012. It’s about 20.1km in total (+/- 500m) end-to-end….not too bad.

Was also looking at how to connect from Pasir Ris Park – Car Park C to Changi Village…..quite easy too using PCN! But the total distance may be a challenge for some of us.

Since again, a major portion of this route will be along main roads and it’s boring to back-track on return route since no other/alternate paths available to “circle” back to Pasir Ris Park – Car Park C from Changi Village!!

Any suggestions on alternate circle-route back to Pasir Ris Park – Car Park C??

  32. June @ #45.

The photo r officially uploaded to SHC webpage. Mine were downloaded from Douglas’ album shared on Facebook. If u do have a FB ac u can send a request to the person u wanna friend n get connected. If u do not have one u might wanna join the IT interest group to learn. Very fun.

  33. Hi Yew Keong

Ok. I am using Facebook as well. It will be good that if photos taken by members be it uploaded to any Internet media, can also pass a copy to the photo manager for uploading to our club page. So any new members can still see past event photos. Well this is just my personal opinions.
