Sumptious food awaits us at the destination of East Coast Lagoon Food Village where there is popular rojak, duck noodle, satay and many other stalls.
Transport : There is a feeder bus from the food village to Bedok Interchange or you may walk to Marine Parade Road for other buses.
Do bring your umbrella or rain coat, your camera, drinking bottle, sun block, a hat and walking sneakers.

Hi fellow SHCians,
A very good afternoon to one and all,
Most of the previous SHC-led walks were centred on western S’pore, now it is high time for a directional change to the eastern side. As in eating, every now and then we need to change menu for different flavours. Every day if we have to eat char siew rice or chicken rice before long we can get pretty bored tastewise.
So it is not only pertinent but also exciting to change the walking route to enable SHC walkers to take in different sights and sounds from a new environment. Not that we haven’t seen Siglap before, Singapore westerners like me living in Bt Batok or Jurong seldom have need to go to Siglap. Singaporeans living in Siglap and Changi are literally easterners; residents in Woodlands are northerners and people in Chinatown are southerners. Don’t play, play our Singapore is still very huge. To verify if my statement stands up to the truth, why not try walking from Changi Point to the end of Jurong West to determine whether or not the distance can exhaust everybody. Those sweating all over with tongues hanging out gasping for breath at the end of the exhausting journey should grudgingly accept that the Singapore that they had previously thought small as a pea sizewise is indeed unimaginably huge for legwork(walking, that is)!
Please count me in for the walk.
Blessings,

Hi June, Maureen, Johnny, Annie, Catherine, Evelyn, Yew Tiong and Ah Lam – am counting you in. See you all.
Testing the site. Look like I am having some problem sending the message across. It said there is a duplicate message sent which I have not even posted yet. The following is my message :-
Hi Serene Low/Lydia Soh,
I have missed the last 2 walks and this time will be coming back for the walk alone as June will be out of action for the rest of the walks due to some knee injury.
Hope to see the rest of you on Saturday afternoon.
Rgds,
Hi Danny
Will see you this Saturday.
I am getting Admin to help me list out the names of attendees as I don’t seem to be able to edit the orignal write up. All names would be included if you do not see my acknowledgement.
Hi Danny,
Last time I used to have hurting knee problems too. But a friend taught me a way to overcome it without breaking my piggy bank. The healing is very cheap, but the taste of the drink is terrible. According to him, he learnt this healing from the internet.
The first hurdle is to conquer the fear of the horrible taste before we can even think about the cure. The cure points to drinking okra (lady’s fingers) water. But, the odour and taste are not pungent like smelly overnight food. That is the firm assurance.
Wash several okras thoroughly and cut them into sections like you did with “chee cheong fun” before putting them in a bowl of clean tap water or cooled boiled water. Let it stay overnight for 12 hours until the next morning. Drink the sticky, colourless okra slime in water on an empty stomach. After 20 mins, then take your breakfast. Please repeat the process everyday for the first week and alternate days thereafter.
Apart from curing your persistent knee problem, it can also reduce high cholesterol level in the blood over time. Healing will come gradually, and please don’t expect an overnight miracle.
If you still insist on an overnight miracle, why not ask Mr. Aladdin for permission to allow you to rub the base of his Magic Lamp. Hey Presto! Your ailments diaappear on the spot.
Disclaimer: As with most cures they work for most but not all.
Blessings,
Hi Serene/Lysia,
Please include me for this walk.
Thanks & Rgds, Peng Peng

Hi All,
We are into the closing months of the year when occasional monsoon thunderstorm is part and parcel of the expected weather phenomenon. Let us be undeterred by bad weather if it has to come our way this afternoon. Please get fully prepared with raincoats or umbrellas. Our very presence in an activity says a lot about our iron-clad commitment to our club for which we are thankful for bringing us together.
Since walkers meet only once a month, more if there are other incidental activities in place for dancing, bowling or high tea gettogether, let us not pass up the chance of meeting with one another in the SHCian spirit this afternoon.
If registered SHCians do not often show up for club activities, then the ideals of fellowshipping amongst ourselves inside SHC would be in vain. The least we can for
SHC and ourselves is showing up and be counted for our commitment.
Blessings,
#26 refers.
A “do” is missing between “can” and “for” in the last sentence due to oversight. An elderly’s eyesight is on decline whether he likes it or not.
Sorry for the error.
Blessings,
Hello Serene,
Talk talk talk, walk walk walk, realise reach makan place already. Talk talk talk, eat eat eat, also realise all gone home except 5 of us.

Stay Healthy! Be Happy! :)
I would like to thanks all the EOs (Christina CL Chan, Joyce Tan, Charles Wee, Conrad & Sally Tang, Veronica Wong, Jeffrey Lim, Mary Tan, Alice Seah, Lydia Soh, Serene Low) for organising this walk. This is our monthly walk where we meet old and new friends. Everyone enjoyed the walk as the weather was fine after a short shower.
I have uploaded the photos taken during the walk onto my facebook. Only group photos are selected as individual photos will not be displayed in respect of their decisions. Likewise, the photos will be forwarded to SHC to upload into the SHC Website for sharing too.
HI Danny
Thank you for soughing out the photographs before sending them to me. I will wait for your email.
Hi Charles
Thank you for sending me the photographs you have taken.
Hi other SHCians in the Big Walk
If you have also taken some photos and wish to share, please email them to me so that I can upload them at one go. My Email Address is

Hi Terry
Regarding the knee problem, I am very interested. Can you please advice where can I buy Okra.
Thank you. King Seng
King Seng,
I have already forwarded all the photos to your email for your uploading to SHC website for members sharing. Only group photos are given, individual photos will not be posted unless otherwise requested individually as to show respect of their decisions.
Thank you for all your effort to collage all photos for uploading.
Serene Low,
If I have not mistaken you, I did took a few photos of you individually at ECP Lagoon as well as in the group. If you would like to have the hard copies, please give me your email address to dannylye@hotmail.com. Likwise, you can wait for SHC website to publish them.
Hi Danny, King Seng and Charles
Thank you for chipping in to make our walk interesting with all the memories on photos.
You may publish the group photos on site. For individual photos, plse do not publish this – I am too shy to be the focus. May I have a soft copy – will write to you separately in email.
Johnny and all – glad you all enjoy the walk. Cheers.
#31 Lee KingSeng,
Lady’s fingers (okra) can be purchased from wet or dry markets. One thing is sure, you have to bear with the horrible taste of the okra slime in water. Figuratively speaking, please take okra slime water as your “Mt. Everest
challenge”. No mountain is too high to assail. JDI = just do it as people used to talk about taking on challenges.
Just like bitter TCM medicine to bring down fever, the okra drink taste is earth-shattering unpleasant, but people seeking to cure their knee pains or lower high cholesterol in their blood don’t have much of a choice but to drink it.
Blessings,
#35 Terry Tang
Thank you very much for your clarification and your avice. I will certainly try it out.
