  1. Hi Terence

These days, I’m only working half-time because our magazine is going through re-vamp period. Therefore, if it’s alright with you, I would like to volunteer to take care of the administrative aspects of Blue Helmet. Please do not feel obligated. Should you, for whatever reason, feel that I’m not suitable, I will understand.

  2. On 9 May 2007 Thread, Blue Helmet Project Update appeared as a job placement effort and therefore I glossed over it. In the 16 May 2007 meeting, the matter was alluded by some one from the floor, and in private mentioned in confidence, some of the developments in progress.

Thinking aloud, these are my inputs:-

    1) “SilverhairedClub” is better left in its free flowing substance and flexible form. The out of bound taboo topics will keep us out of trouble. Projects are driven by our very own members for our collective good.
    2) The word “Silver” from the coined term “Silverhaired Club” and that simple logo have trade mark value in the context of branding. Therefore a legal entity is best incorporated to be driven by Stake Holders to serve the market place for the benefit of the aged at large and themselves as risk takers in specific.
    3) As the discussion on this Project is said to be at quite an advanced stage, it will be useful to consider a work out, review and refinement to its Business Plan. The devils are in the details now before going into fund raising and marketing efforts. I can contribute in this area with the Plan.
    4) A steadfast Team is best seen from inception to the public launch of the Project for continuity and confidence building in Mission & Vision. Multi-disciplinary expertise within the Team is a plus factor for management depth.

Eventually, this project should generate both economic value and social benefit to as many ageing Singaporeans as possible stretched out by falling income against the ever increasing cost of living in these tangible ways:-

    a) Retraining & placement
    i. Re-position older workers to remain relevant to present job opportunities disrupted by globalization through retraining and job placement efforts.
ii. Post placement confidence building and follow up to ensure workers are firmly rooted in the new job during the first 6 months.
iii. Work with businesses in the hospitality segment to source for suitable mature candidates and support them to be competent employees in the new companies
    b) Co-operate with those who have the financial means, drive and expertise to run SOHOs (Small Office/Home Offices) and SMEs (Small & Medium Enterprise) in the outsourcing business of all sorts.
    c) Participate in activities involving different age groups, especially in the businesses involving the youth coming from ITEs, Polytechnics and even amongst the lower quartile of the Universities cohorts. The mentorship in the midst of a shared drive, experience, expertise, risk taking profile, financial means and network can only be a positive outcome. We need to see a significant growth of SME sector as part of the Singapore vibrancy.

  3. Hello, Terence,
I’m a semi retired HR practitioner who runs my own consultancy outfit. With more than 20 years working experience in MNCs in HR Management, I should be able to offer my service in the HR area. Preferably project based & part time will be fine as I’m not keen on a full time career.
    Feel free to contact me.

  4. Hi June,

Welcome on board. I think this is perfect for you. Part-time (full-time option later), high public impact and you are free to express your creativity in your area of expertise.

This is a proposed Social Enterprise project that promises to improve the lives of seniors and help them to maximize their SilverHair years.

Let’s arrange for a meeting at our normal boardroom spot. SuperDog at Vivo City. I’ll get you quickly up to speed and you can then run with the team.

    You can make the difference.

  5. hi terence,
I’m really curious about this Blue Helmet project. like to involve myself but unsure from which perspective.
I’ve been in the interior biz from 1972 to 1991 when I decided to embarked on Mtkg Mgmnt consultancy services overseas. I suppose I can assist in interior projects in more than 1 way as I’ve experience in turn-key projects as well.
presently, I’m volunteering at a yoga society from mon-thu full day.

anyway, we can explore the possibilities how we can help each other. timing is crucial.

cheers and good luck blue helmets!

  6. Hi Jeremy,

Please keep yourself updated on this project, until the key positions have been filled. The project is still evolving.

Your skills will come in valuable; especially when locations are firmed.
