Annual Games Day, 20 Oct 2007

FINAL UPDATE : CLOSING OF EVENT

All SHC Members…. SHC Games 2007 have finally closed its curtain with many smiles and lots of laughters from those who attend the event at CSC @ Bt Batok.  Despite of the heavy downpour, turnout was almost 90% and some of those not registered also turned up to support this event.

Games Day started as early as 8.00am as the committee members busy to do up the banner to officiate the event at the foyer area.  It was later raining dogs and cats and most of us were quite doubtful if we can expect a 50% turnout.  To our relief, we saw group of member arriving around 8.30am thus making us very happy indeed.  By 8.45am, registration hit a good 70% turnout.

5stones, scrabble and chaptek competition started off.. Both 5stones and chaptek had more players than original registered players as many members signed up to take up the challenge on the spot.. It was a indeed a great fun playing the games of our day… More members turned out as rain quietly left us to enjoy  :)

Bowling started off abit late as amendment of names need to be corrected but nevertheless members got their hands on bowling.. Wow wow.. so many hidden talents but also lots of fun and laughters as many members are first time bowlers (especially in the ladies’), rolling away in longkang but still happy cos they really enjoyed this…  Games ended around 12.45pm.  After that, all members proceeded to the foyer area for the Grand finale and prize presentation.

Limbo rock music was on the air and members were encouraged to limbo their ways thru.. of cos, to certain height level only la.. if not, alot of cracking sound can be heard.. hehehehe… Participation for this event was spontaneous and one can see that almost everyone was taking part in this… Prize presentation was conducted after the limbo rock event and the winners in each categories is summarized as below:

Champion for Scrabble : Joyce Tan

Champion for Chaptek : Molly Chua      Runner Up : Ronald Lee

Champion for Bowling (Men)  : Tim Liu       Runner Up : Philip Puspalm
Champion for Bowling (Ladies) : Ann Chee     Runner Up : Evelyn Ong

Champion for 5 Stones : Kwong Wah (Never knew that Guy can played this better than Ladies leh)

Longkang Queen winner from Cycling Group : Susan Chang

Most Popular Limbo Rock Member : Rene Leong

The organising committees would like to express our greatest thanks to members who have sponsored gifts
1) Dan Huang
2) Grace Wong
3) Terence Seah
4) Tim Liu
5) Yew Kwong

Till we will meet again in next SHC Games Day… Bye Bye :)emoticon

  1. Hi Patrick
Please register me for mahjong and scrabble. From last year’s experience, there was feedback that half a day was too rushed and had suggested that it be a full day event in future.
Could Event Organiser and Terence please consider. Thanks.

  2. Hi Patrick

Thanks for leading this event. I hv registered before under previous posting. Anyway, I shall include the flwg people who are interested to join this game day as well.

Susan Chang – Mahjong & Bowling
Molly Chua – Mahjong and Bowling
Shirlena Tham – Mahjong and Bowling

I am joining bowling for fun like the rest (going to the drain more than not) as I don’t play often. :)

    Many thanks,
    Susan

  3. Hi Patrick,
Do register me for the bowling. Thks.

Hey Susan :), u are welcome to join us “The Longkang Queens, myself , caroline and ah nee hehe..we share the same “style”..

  4. Hi…Patrick,

Me, don’t know how to play mahjong. So I settle for bowling lah. Hello hello ….Caroline, Clara, Susan and Molly, let’s have fun rolling the ball to the “longkang”. hahaaaa

    Ah Nee

  5. Hi Patrick

Please include me and my wife, Maureen Tay for both mahjong and bowling. Glad to join the “longkang” gang.
    Cheers
    Jeffrey Fong

  6. Hi Patrick

Accept congratulations from my wife Alice and I, in your leading this year’s Annual Games. We have already registered in the earlier posting, but, anyway please put our names down for bowling.

    REGARDS

    Ron & Alice Lai

  7. Hi Ah Nee, Oi Cheng & Clara,
and all longkang guys & gals, since we don’t know how to play well, let’s be in the same team and see who hit the longkang least and maybe Patrick can give us a prize..he.he..

Maybe Patrick should segregate those who are expert and those who are not.. so those of us in the same boat won’t feel so lousy lah. :)

    Cheers,

  8. Hi “Cycling Group” guys n gals

I will throw in a new Sony Mini Disc player (bought but not used) wif mini disc as an “Achievement” prize to the winner of the least “longkang” score.

Clause : Only cycling group members qualify.

  9. BTW, Yew Kwong,
Must set a standard that 1 must attend how many sessions of cycling b4 they can identified as cyclist group hor.. if not, it would not be fair for those old timers rite…

  10. Susan,

    Your suggestion is great !
Yes, we can’t compare ourselves to the skilful and experience ones. BUT we may be the “Best Scorer” in our “Longkang” group hehe..
Looking forward to the fun day rolling pins into the lane..

  11. Dear Yew Kwong, so generous of you to give us a prize to support these longkang folks. It will be a challenge as it motivate us to do better… he.he..

Hi Andrew, I didn’t know you are one of the longkang guy mah… welcome to join us. Renee & Lily must be expert.
Hello Dolly & Yew Kwong, you joining us for bowling ? It’s going to be fun lor.

  12. Hi Clara, you mean rolling ball into the lane or drain ?? ha.ha… Rolling pins ?? what’s that ? I thought the pins are all fixed at the end of the lane and we suppose to hit it, right ?

  13. Susan,
Oops, sorry.. ive mixed up with pins and balls just at this junction …i am eagerly looking forward to the day lah..(to meet up with all the longkang members)

  14. Dolly

Dont need to set standard leh. By now the group members know who is who except the new comers.

Anyway the prize is to create more funs and strengthen interaction among the members.

  15. halo, not I set hor… Lily told me b4 that I must at least attended 4 sessions of cycling b4 I can qualified as team members leh.. right, Lily?? I am sure you are here when Lily suggested this leh…

And I think it is fair lor.. if not, everyone will just attend 1 cycling session 2b qualified and then MIA. It would be defeating the purpose of your sponsoring the prize rite after all u did mentioned that it is meant for cyclist mah…

Veteran cyclists, bo comments meh.. walau, I am supporting you all leh… after all, I am still not a qualified cycling member yet lor..

  16. Hello hello,

All the cyclists in the SHC cycling group, I really enjoy cycling with you guys and gals, so the more the merrier. Whether new or old timer, doesn’t matter, more importantly is to enjoy the friendship and the interaction with each other.

Yew Kwong, thanks for the prize to support these longkang folks. I will try my best not to let the ball roll to the longkang. This is an encouragement for the fun of it.

  17. Patrick, include rugby for a change?

I’ll take you & Daniel with me to play vs respectable opponents like Steven, Zariah & Gingko. Ai mai?

Since Yew Kwong is offering only a disc player, I’ll offer the discs……….all uncensored ones starring folks in shc. Heeee, sure the demand for my discs will be higher.

(Except for mahjong, I’ll be on standby to fill up any vacancy in any games)

  18. Sure, Yew Kwong, that’ll also be part of the game I love to play………….bouncing them on my laps.

Patrick, dont slurp………i’d rather pay for you than let you bounce.

  19. Hi Susan

Now, you know I belong to the same group as you leh. Furthermore, I also want to win the price from Yew Kwong, hor. So must include me.

Yes, the pins are all fixed at the end of the lane and we suppose to hit it. But for our longkang group, may be the pins are just for us to see and sigh. Ha ha.

  20. Aiyo…Andrew, pins not 4 see n sigh la.. it meant 4 strike leh…

maybe hor.. cycling aka longkang kakis, start go bowling alley n practise 1st b4 actual games day, how abt that har??

  21. Hi Patrick,

Ding, ding, ding! I am a cycling member. I want to join the Longkang Bowling Kakis.

Susan, Ah Nee, Clara & Oi Cheng you can count me in. ;)

  22. Summarize of “Longkang” bowling team members …

(Female) : Caroline Gee, Susan, Clara, Ah Nee,
Maureen Tay, Oi Cheng, Molly ?

    (Male) : Fong Cheong Kong
    Andrew Yueng

Note : Recruitment drive is on !

  23. Wei, Wei,

Who is this “CLARA” huh? Why you left me out in your “Recruitment Drive” for “Longkang” bowling?

My comment posting #32 is just above your #33.

Yesterday, you gave me such a Beautiful Sunday. After sing, sing, along, along, can go home together on the same bus, sitting side by side. Alamak, today you friend or foe??

  24. Yalah Patrick,

U like Robert Quek, use the copy & paste method lor… now see what happen?

    Dolly,

Good idea for cyclists to practice bowling for the games day. That way, cycling group will pau-ka-liao the prices to honour our cycling chief YK. We can do this @ ECP on same cycling day hor.

  25. Hi Gingko,

You Ding, ding, ding to Patrick instead of me ..
I’m one block below you and ive overlooked you..
You need to ring, ring, ring to me …
Happily you are enlisted into this..
    With effect from 25th…

  26. Hi
Wld someone help 2 redo Patrick’s main post?

    Hi Cycling buddies
Meet at 1pm on 21 Jul 07 (nx cycling date) for an earlier bowling session. Shall I book 2 or 4 lanes?

Rain or shine, I will definitely be there 4 U.

  27. Cyling Comrades
    (aka Longkang Bowling Kakis),

Goodness, sure sounds like a military regime. We will all go out hands and legs busy like octopuses to practice our bowling and cycle our bikes.

Die, die must try. Just be sure all limbs won’t get entangled up.

  28. Hi all,

I can help to organise a fun bowl at Marine Bowl on a Sunday morning for a cheaper rate.
But too bad the cycling is in the evening. So how?
Tips and tricks will be shared to all…by a lousy bowler, ha ha

  29. Hi Patrick,

I can volunteer to organise the bowling session.
Also please register me for bowling and mahjong. Is there games like chatay or baylong?
I believe Tim is also very interested. Am I right? Tim

  30. Even if you dont bowl with Benson’s fingers but with Hedges’ toes, you’ll still beat us flat unless RonLai comes and get you whacked till yr eyes 1 blue 1 black and wonder what the heck (for volunteering to organise a bowling).

I am game for any practice session anytime on Fri nites & wkends, and think it’s fine with 2 lanes if total bowlers dont exceed 10.

  31. As we must hv played the chatay & baylong for at least 4.5 decades, we shd take it 1 level higher i.e. play them together……..skip to the next baylong station as we chatay along.

But Benson, if you cant do that, dont hv to cry, it’s alright………….just serve us kopi siw dai and do the towel pushing if we become sweaty.

  32. Hi,
I don’t think Orchid Country Club has a mahjong room. They hv a mahjong table at each individual room hence it might not be flexible to host the games day there.

Maybe some civil service club members can help to check on Club SCS @ Tessensohn as they hv bowling alley, mahjong room with 4 tables. Civil service club members should be able to get better rate, I hope so.

  33. Wow wow… all longkang bowlers, must take up Benson’s offer liao.. cheaper rates n expert’s advice especially cyclist members hor..

  34. Hi all,

    I have booked 6 lanes on 8 July 2007 from 10.00am to 1.00pm at Marine Bowl,directly opposite the MacDonald(ECP).

    About $3@game.

    Hi Dolly,
Can you pls include this ad hoc event in the SHC calendar, Under the heading, BOWLING. 8th July 2007 10am to 1pm. Also open for registration.

    Thanks

  35. Haha, Benson, lucky you………….can lie across all the 6 lanes on 8 July 07 and hv yr foto taken……….

Try make the booking this wkend lah…………….coast’s clear at the moment.

  36. Hello all wannabe bowlers/cyclists

Can we have it on Friday evening ? as 8 & 21 Jul – Molly & myself unable to join in.

Yew Kwong, Me & Molly got to miss the cycling on 21Jul. It’s her big day. :)

  37. Sorry to all wanna bowl kakis. Me really tidur la.
Fun bowling date is 15 July 2007. Same place, same time, same budget.

    Cheers, Benson

  38. Tim,

I am not that long to lie across 6 lanes!!! One lane is 36 ins wide so two is already 72 ins. Including the two long kang and the divider is easily more than 84 ins. I am only 68 ins tall. So I take the first two and you the last two. Reserve the centre two for some one. Wat u think? ha ha

  39. Hi Joy

Same here …. play Monopoly,Scrabble,Snap. Would like to register for scrabble although not a very good player. Mainly for fun.

  40. Hi Daniel,
I am sure that there will be some way that we are able to use this facility, it only zoom down to how much are they charging lor..

  41. Hi Dolly,

I just spoke to them and it is strictly for members…looks like there are not many club that has mahjong rooms and a bowling alley.

  42. Hi Patrick

Anyone a club member at The Chevrons @ Boon Lay Way. Tel no 66688888. They have a bowling centre and a Games Room for mahjong.

Yes please count me in for the mahjong game.

    Thank you.

  43. Hi Daniel,
I did called them and enquired abt this but the total sum involved was too great for members to absorb so we will not pursue further. Thanks for the info.

  44. Benson, last year you were 70 inches long…… Anyhow, you hv forgotten that once you get moody you automatically add hundreds of extra inches, no shorter than a giraffe’s neck & as strong.

Someone once told me of The Grassroots Club in ang mo kio which has a bowling alley (not sure whether it has a mahjong room). There’s also a k’ok hall, and, with the yio chu kang mrt & a bus terminal nearby, is fairly accessible.

  45. Hi! Everyone! All the Lokang stories! How about
shuttlecocks? Anyone game for it? I would 2 join those in the evening if there’s one in AMK, or Bishan or Serangoon district.Presently I do play at Thomson CC. Sad to say this Sat not free. Anyone interested to play on Sat 9 am -11am. (pls call 98415990 after 5 p.m.)

  46. I love chatay and baylong. Great memories, sometimes I wish today’s kids can play these games. In my school days, chatay was for the boys and baylong, for the girls.

Sounds like these two games would make great Games Day sports. Anybody remember how to play Chatay and Baylong? Especially, on penalties, how to play and how to score.

    Terence

  47. Dear Terence

I will join you in this childhood game…he..he..
    but I can’t remember what’s the rule for baylong… anyone ??

Where to get chatay nowadays huh ?
We used to play 5 stones too…. anyone interested ? It’s fun too.

Cheers to our all our childhood game. LOL.

  48. Hi Clara

Me no longkang lah. Take me out of this list or else if dont go longkang get harass by all of you ler. Go for some practice session b4 game day lor.

  49. I am game for games including Catherine Ho’s ang moh badminton but not sure whether we hv the numbers to make it a regular activity?

Chatay, baylong……………those are the softer games played in yesteryears.

SHC guys must be familiar with horse-fighting, humtum bolah and fighting with black spiders.

Dont think Terence wants Patrick to be his knight; neither wd we want to take the chance of breaking another’s bones with a ball at our age.

So, let’s go catch spiders and we hv 4 months to train them into merciless warriors……….even the gals can join in here. And in the case of Lily, her spiders can use baseball bats & roller pins………..

  50. I am game and the fun is in identifying the male from the female.

Their anatomies are vastly differnt from the human kind. The bu ones do make a lot of noise, much louder than the kang ones.

And when you get them to fight, the bu ones wont but show their sex appeal. That’s how you tell their gender.

  51. I used to play rounders and climb trees when I was young. Anybody for rounders? As for climbing trees, I think we can leave that to Tim and Dan.

How about skipping? We used to tie rubber bands to make a long skipping rope. Two persons will hold the ends and a couple of girls will skip. Alamak, but too much trouble to make this skipping rope…

I like to play badminton too. Five stones is fine as well.

I am keen to know what baylong is and maybe learn the game.

  52. Hi Joy,

I am sure you played Baylong (or Hopscotch) in your younger days. I remember we also played the Big Baylong, using the badminton court outlines.

To refresh your memory (& perhaps a few others), you may like to check it out at:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Lrq6RXeRHI

    http://www.gameskidsplay.net/games/other_games/hopscotch.htm

Unlike Baylong, you can’t play Rounders alone. There has to be two teams, each comprises an equal number of players. It’s a little like the American Baseball, except the players do not wear baseball gloves.
It is a very fun ballgame with lots & lots of running.. and you have to be a fast runner too!

    Have fun!

  53. Hi Gingko

Oh, so baylong is hopscotch. Baylong is Hokkien ah? Yeah, played that in school. Fun, simple, no cost game.

    How about kuti kuti anyone?

  54. Hi Patrick

I am planning to go for my FIRST ever bowling game at Benson’s fun bowling day and my second practice session at Yew Kwong’s cycling bowling day.

Then after that, I can register for bowling and join the Longkang Queens and Kings team.

  55. Hi Dolly/Patrick,

Did play board games; card games; baylong; chatay; five stone; rope skipping etc. when young but lost touch and can’t remember the rules.
Also played majong; bowling; badminton; table tennis before but not good at it and have not been playing for long time…
So.. can someone tell me the rules for scrabble and i wld prefer u count me in for this game. Otherwise can i just be a reserve for other games?

    Thanks/Joyce

  56. Hi Patrick,

I don’t know how to play mahjong and am not familiar with bowling. Would not like to stress my brain cells over the game of Scrabble! Can I join the event as an observer ?? I can practice walking around and talking to other members.

    Bernie

  57. Some updates on the possible places to hold the Games Day:

Seletar Country Club, as a private members club, is not not available for use on a weekday.

Orchid Country Club, although, it is open to the public, is an option.

Mahjong is popular, but there are gaming considerations, and finding a place that can accept Mahjong games, combined with the other game items we have in mind.

Either, we separate Mahjong from the Games Day, or we find another location to host the games day.

Changi Beach Club is an option, although the place may be fast to East, and not very convenient to some.

Do share, if you have some thoughts on the place. We would next look at the new civil sports club and the Yeo Chu Kang Grassroots country club.

    Terence Seah

  58. I don’t have any idea on the place, but another suggestion.

How about we have a “game month” instead of “game date”. Different games to be held in different date and different venue.

Easier arrangement and more exciting, my humble suggestion.

  59. Maybe we can book a chalet/resort for the mahjong competition to be held inside the chalet/resort. Options like Downtown East or Orchid Country Club (whereby union members can get a special rate) with bowling alley’s facilities. Since check-in time is usually ard noon time, then maybe we can plan to have the bowling competition first early morning and then mahjong and scrabble session followed by the afternoon.

We can even have a bbq after all these. And those who are keen to stay overnight there, also can book a chalet at their own expense. How abt this???

By this kind of arrangement, the operating cost will be definitely much lower and maybe will be more interesting…

  60. Hi Dolly, Downtown East bowling alley has been demolished. I think there is a cinema there now with multi storey carpark.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  61. Dolly, I also don’t know until Saturday, fetched my daughter to chalet then I said long time didn’t go there for bowling then she told me bowling alley boh liao.
    No worries.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  62. Like Andrew’s idea of a “Games Month”

How about bowling at Civil Service Club @ Bukit Batok?

Please register Philip for bowling & Priscilla for watching.

    Thank you
    Priscilla :)

  63. I visited CSC Bukit Batok this morning; and must say I am impressed with the location. It’s new, next to the Bukit Batok MRT and bus interchange. If we decide here, we may have to disappoint the mahjong players.

One member is exploring the possibility of holding the Games day in JB at one resort. Two days one night, with games, bowling, classes, etc. Tranport included.

I am hoping to decide on the place this week with the Event Organiser.

    Terence Seah

  64. I saw a tick under Bowling for my name some time back. It has disappeared! Can Patrick or Dolly re-instate that for me pretty please? Thanks.

Wah, Bukit Batok CSC would be a hop away for me. Johore resort is many hops away, but that would be nice too…another short holiday for me.

  65. Hi Terence and Patrick,

I would like to recommend NSRCC for our games day. It is situated along Changi Coastal Road.
Big bungalow chalet for mahjong and bowling centre available,
Brought some SHC members there to see the place on Sat, 21 July. All of them are very happy with it.
Maybe one day, Terence and Patrick, would both of you like to take a look at the place?

  66. Benson, Patrick,

This sounds like a good location, with plenty of flexibility for games and getting to know one another.

We should get to firm the location by this coming Monday or Tuesday.

I would be in touch with you and Patrick, and hopefully see the place on Monday. The date of the Games Day is fixed, and it would be great the planning starts.

    Call you soon.

    Terence Seah

  67. Dear Patrick & Dolly,
Very keen to join you all in the games – Do count me in for all the games except bowling. Its been ages since I went bowling.

My friends might be interested to join but they dont hv internet access @ home so its a bit of a hassle for to & fro co-ordination. Bear with me. Thanks!

  68. Hi PatrickYeo/Dolly,
Pls register me for Scrabble and Bowling games.
Looking forward to see all the members again.

For the venue, I shud recommend the NSRCC, a 2storeys bungalow fully equips wz bbq pit/karaoke/tv/fridge/mj tables/etc etc) Is ideal for big gatherings. For those not driving, there is a shuttle bus operating at TanahMerah Mrt stn to bring you to the club (on hourly basis)
    Thanks

  69. Hi Zahriah/Pearlynn,
Pls let me know what games are you going take part. Or there 2b supporter.

Currently, the confirmed games are scrabble, mahjong and bowling.

  70. Subject to one more confirmation, we are likely to hold the Annual Games at NSRCC (National Service Resort & Country Club) or CDC Bukit Batok.

Once the bungalow at NSRCC is confirmed, then the place will be held here. No change in date.

Meantime, all the plans re the games, will be managed by Patrick Yeo.

    Terence Seah

  71. How abt “Cruise to Nowhere” in a ship? We could have buffet and games on board!
Jux a suggestion pls don’t “hamtam ” at me.

  72. Hi Catherine,

The “Cruise to Nowhere” on a ship is defintely a good idea. I heard you get 5 meals on board, plenty of places to hide, a good swim under the sun, and all kinds of games we can think off.

For the moment, the SilverHairsClub Annual Games Day won’t be held on a cruise ship.

However, if someone can get a really good price, for a cruise to nowhere or somewhere, over 2 or 3 days, we can really have another event. I am not sure if there are any cruise to nowhere nowadays. They seem to go somewhere.

    Terence Seah

  73. Try Avillion at Port Dickson.
    http://www.hotelportdickson.net/
It is a unique stilted resort (like hi class kelong). Holiday at sea without a cruise. Pool and land facilities is just a walk away to the beach. Cheaper and much more room to plan activities and games.

Short drive away (or cheap direct train) for day tour to superb shopping/food in KL/Port Dickson.

“Imagine private beach, imagine seven finger piers reaching out into sea, imagine accomodations where the sea is beneath you and the sky above, imagine absolute tranquility, imagine sheer peacefulness, imagine pure relaxation, imagine charming atmosphere and imagine enchanting moments… this is no dream, this is AVILLION.

  74. Hi Patrick & Dolly,
Do count the following people in for the Annual Games – Janet Low, Jennifer Ong & Wana Tay (all are SHC members). Thanks.

    Pearlynn Tan

  75. Hi Pearlynn, Janet, Jennifer, Wana,
Since all of you did not indicated which particular games that you are going to take part, I will just assume that they will be there for supporters. Pls let me know if otherwise

  76. Hi Patrick/Dolly,

Please register me for Mahjong and Bowling under the cycling team. Alternately, I can be a helper instead (same as for last year).

    Thank you,

    Ronald Lee

  77. Hi everybody,

We have decided to hold this year 2007 Games Day at the CSC Bukit Batok, from 0800 to 1300 hours.

Civil Service Club@Bukit Batok is located next to Bukit Batok MRT and the bus interchange.

To some members, this location may seem far away from town. The advantage is, it is very convenient by MRT. The disadvantage is, Mahjong is not possible.

But, I hope you will appreciate we need to move around Singapore for the Annual Games Day activity.

The organising committee will be set up soon, by Patrick Yeo.

    Terence Seah

  78. Patrick, kindly note that yr announcement at the top is truncated on the right, making parts of an important message incomplete.

Terence, now that mahjong, which is popular with many, is withdrawn will it be necessary to find an alternative game in replacement?

CSC Bt Batok comes with a swimming pool and a float-around-on-tube so maybe some kind of water sports, CSC willing?

  79. Hi Tim,
I knew that last nite that the announcement is truncated la and hv already informed administrator liao.. Still waiting to get this fixed lor…

  80. Ok, thanks.

Pertinent bcos there’s indication albeit incomp-lete, of a payment sharing which is reasonable & fair as CSC is a biz club.

  81. Hi, please help register me. Not up to mark yet for any games but I can Kaypoh around. Does the organising committee entertain impromptu participation in any of the games?

A thought: What about tele-matches, water games or even beach volleyball; treasure hunt and may be our very own “improvised” survivor. Think they will be fun too.

(Must I add this phrase to protect myself? – “This is just a thought, tolong jangan marah dan hentam sayah.”

  82. Hi Patrick,

Pls register me (June Chin) for scrabble. I understand there is a June Lim in SHC so take note not to confuse. I shall be looking forward to meeting my double (June). Are you coming to this event??

    June

  83. Hi Anne To

Tidak taku. Kalau ada siapa orang marah dan hentam awak, kita semua kasih dia tengkok warna warna. Yang lagi, kita semua kasih dia kaki benku dan kepala pusing. Boleh tak.

  84. Hi Yew Kwong

Salamat Datang, Selamat Pagi, Selamat Patang, are U a true-blue Peranakan. I am sure there are Silverhairs willing and able to learn Bahasa Malayu from you.

  85. Hi All,
I would really appreciate that we should not divert out from the subject itself as this is really vry time consuming for me to look into my emails everytime a message is being send to here but only to realise that it is not related at all…

Your kind understanding most needed la..

  86. Hi Dolly,
Please help to register me. Not good in any of the games but I can join Ann To just Kaypoh around. Hope the organising committee don’t mind :)

    Alice Teo

  87. Hi..I am Daniel Chan. Please include me. Scrabble, Karaoke and Chess (Chinese and Int’l) are my favourite games. Looking forward to see all of you.

  88. Hi,

Please sign me up for scrabble but if there are too many participants, then I will just go there and ‘kia lai kia kee (klkk)’ Thanks

    Catherine

  89. Hello Benson / Yew Kwong / Dolly

When are we having the next bowling session ? Can we have more practice now that mahjong is out ? Proposing 25 Aug since 18 Aug we will be at Ubin. How’s that ?

Calling all longkang guys & gals, wud you like to practice some more ?

    Cheers,
    Susan

  90. Hi Joy

I hv not seen chatay on sales for a long long time. Cud you help me get 1? I will pay you when I see you next time. I want to show my children how to play. :)

    Thanks,
    Susan

  91. Thanks Joy, so sweet of you. There’s no rush. Will recycle and keep it for games day then if still in good condition. Don’t know how rough they handle it. :)

    Thanks in advance.

    Susan

  92. Hi Steven,

I better “siam” when you play the 5 stones you picked on the road during games day.
Suggest you wear a helmet while playing as we don’t want to see you bleeding from the head. LOL.

Joy, better spend the 80 cents than to see someone hurt.

P/S : I wud join you in this fun game if time permit. :)

    Susan

  93. Hi Steven

Be careful of stones U pick up from the roadside. Hopefully they are not remainders left behind by tombstone artists otherwise U may hv unintentionally invite more players than U wanted. LoL.

  94. Hi Susan

There are two places I know of where the Chatays are available, one is at the Changi Village and the others at Serangoon Garden Est, when passing there will get it for you.

    Ronlai

  95. Hi Daniel,
We will KIV your interest for chess games at this moment and see if there are still any other challengers on this before we can proceed.

    Best regards… Patrick/Dolly

  96. Hi Dolly/Patrick

Pls include me. I still dun know wat game to participate. Bowling maybe?
I shd b able to join the next bowling session but pls be very patient with tis super longkang queen hor.

    Thanks,
    veronlee

  97. Thanks Ron & Yew Kwong, please don’t take the trouble to get so many chatays unless you want to keep it for games day. 1 from Joy is good enough, as I use only 1 leg to play mah…

Appreciate your kindness and offer, YK & Ron.
Yew Kwong, call me in the morning if you want to hv lunch with me & Ah Nee. We can go Amoy for fish soup – no prob on me.

    Cheers,
    Susan

  98. I wan chatay too! Yew Kwong, if not 2 much trouble, can get 1 for me since I’ll b seeing u shortly?

Joy, if u see 5-stones again, pls get 1 set 4 me can? Dunno wen I’ll b seeing u though.

Anyone know where 2 get those coloured rice-paper dat u blow up into a ball thru a small hole in the centre? If u do, pls help me get some?

    Childhood time is here again!!

  99. Hi Patrick/Dolly,
wanna join in ‘cheer on’ whoever wants to share their spoils with me hehe…chope 1 place/seat for me hor(as uncertain this date available or not).

Lily: long time no 5 stones but 4 stones. A few months ago, I came across these & bought 1 set (for childhood days or 2nd childhood hmmm long time yet). When I see them again, I’ll get for you 1 set(enough?). Recently for our company’s retreat at Redang I had also bought some of those paper balls. They are in packs of 5, I think. I can get for you, too. How many do u want?

  100. Hi Lily

Glad you are glowing once again. Thought you’ve gone MIA like Ronald..he..he..

Talking about childhood game – it would be nice if we can get hold of some paper kites and do it at Ubin.

Yew Kwong – can get kites instead of chatays then ?

  101. Nor Nor, where art thou? The correct spelling is “chapteh”?

I think I saw a hantam bola ball. It has a smooth rubbery surface and is orangey in colour. I can imagine Terence chasing Tim with this…hee hee…

  102. Hi Suzhang,

( I better “siam” when you play the 5 stones you picked on the road during games day. Suggest you wear a helmet while playing as we don’t want to see you bleeding from the head. )

I meant picking up small stones, pebbles at the roadside NOT BOULDERS. And so no need to wear HELMET lah!

    Have fun,
    Steven Chan

Btw, The original M’sian version of the “stones” is actually made from abt 15-20 red saga seeds which you can picked up at Fort Canning Hill and placed into a small piece of cloth and have its edges sewn by by threads.

Hi Ah Nee, DIY and save your 80 cents worth.
    HA! ha!

    Steven Chan

  103. Hi Yew Kwong,

    Your comment 143.

    I find it so humourous.
I couldn’t help laughing to myself.

    Steven Chan

Btw,I saw you picking up some red saga seeds by the Malay Tomb Burial place at Fort Canning Hill.

Beware, the “pontianaks” or spirits might be hiding in the saga seeds and by keeping them at home you are inviting them and give you sleepless nights.

  104. Hahaha, Joy, you cute leh………

In humtum bola, you dont hold the ball and chase yr target. You release the ball at yr prey with all might & strength in a flash.

But of cos, since Terence has always been that goodie good boy & never knew how that beautiful game is played, he’ll definitely put me in joy playing humtum bola Joy’s way………..

  105. Hi Steven

U make the rite guess. I kept them because they hold symbolic meaning to “those” in the other world as recognition of friendship. I can pass some to U so U can also hv some “frenz” 4 keep.

  106. Hi Yew Kwong.
    No thanks .

By harbouring these “ghosts” or “frenz” you may wake up one day and find your manhood gone and end up as an “eunuch”.

Oh My God ! Poor thing. ITE.

    Steven Chan

  107. Steven, talk about saving money ah, you can save quite a bit by shopping at HDB shops instead of at malls.

Just to share with all here, I get Colgate Tartar for $2.80 a tube and Ricola lozenges at $2.40 a pack at the heartland Chinese medicine shop. I use the savings to buy five stones and chapteh. Hee hee…

Tim, very funny ya, I am falling off my chair with the imagery of a big man holding a small ball in his hand chasing another big man who is running like mad because he thought some “frenz” are after him.

  108. Hi Joy,

    Try Sheng Siong supermarket.

It has GREAT VARIETY, FRESH and CHEAPER than NTUC,Cold storage or SAFE and Better service than NTUC.

From what you have saved, you can buy 10 sets of 5 stones and 10 chaptehs for our Games Day Comptn.

    Have fun,
    Steven Chan

  109. Joy, I’d rather that big man not chase me with ball-in-hand but keeps the balls behind his 2 shirt pockets, then do the small side-step danz – a waddle on the spot & without moving – like my butty did at the DnD………

  110. Thank you Joy. We can play together when we meet.

Christina, if those paper balls come in packets of 5, I would like to have 2 packets then. Let me know when you’ve got them. No hurry – at your convenience.

Susan, I didn’t go MIA just too tire to go on line after a long day.

  111. Sorry, Joyce, I am as equally puzzled as you also. Somehow, some data was truncated while placing this post to be priority.

Any more errors, kindly inform me…paiseh

  112. Hey Dolly dear,

Haven’t been reading the post until now … noticed you’ve put us down as “judge”. Aiyo, who are we judging?? Can change to “referee or umpire” or not??

  113. Wei Dolly,

Just curious, who’s doing the limbo rock ? Can’t be steven ha..ha… he is too tall and can’t be anyone of us as we need to take care of our back..can’t afford to break it. LOL.

So funny, I saw a tick in my name for 5 stoness and I’m the only one….how can ? need some more players lah… Oui Joy, Molly, Oi Cheng, Lily, can you play ? I only remember vividly, so need some refresher course from someone. :)

  114. Sue, so far, no one registers to limbo le, so how.. This game was created since there is no mahjong lor.. Patrick will gauge interest of each game n advise final decision lor..

Hoping with ur name for 5 stones, maybe can encourage more members to join in lor..

Ask Joy 2 bring 5 stones to P Ubin and ask those ‘sifu’ to refresh ur memory lor..

  115. Limbo rock ?? where to find a long bamboo huh ? so funny…ha.ha.. play the limbo rock song and make everyone go thru it and see who’s the best lor.

Actually it’s quite fun provided everyone participate. I remembered last year countdown, as we enter the dining hall, the organiser make everyone of us do that. I know Molly can do it…he..he.. :)

  116. Right on Yew Kwong, thanks for being so sporting. Do you still remember the game ?

Joy, can you please bring 1 set when you come for the walk ? We can play a little game. Dolly come and join me lah.

    Thanks,
    Susan

  117. Dear Organiser

Please remove my name from the list as I am schedule to work on this Saturday. Sorry for the inconvenience caused, thank you.

    Linda

  118. Hi Patrick/Dolly,

Pls put my name in the 5 stone list. Tks.

Suzhang, how can you be left alone when Yew Kwong and Steven is by your side.

    Steven Chan

  119. Hi Dolly, do put my name for five stones.

Ok Susan, I will take five stones along to Pulau Ubin. Wah bowling got practice sessions, five stones also got practice session, so don’t end up as stoned queen like longkang queen ah.

If you check youtube, there is a video that shows you how the game is played. There are even more throws than the basic five, but I think I shall stick to the five.

  120. Hi, count me in for bowling, mahjong and chess(International)How about having a telematch or captain’s ball.I am trying to see whether Palm Resort in JB will attend to all our needs. – Dan Huang

  121. Hi Dan Huang,

Capt ball is an EXCELLENT idea for our Annual Games as more sHC members are able to participate and will be mORE LAuGHTER n FUN than LIma Batus.

I can be the goalkeeper and had advantage over all others because of my “majestic” height.

The Tim Sum YKKNee Sue Dollies,Gingko LHKuo and BBQCat etc… can easily throw their balls to me and scored goals for our team.
    Char yu char yu.

    Steven Chan

  122. Thanks Joy for bringing 5 stones to P. Ubin. I had NOT been playing for donkey ears since I was a child.

Memories are slowly fading and it is good that we can relive it in P.Ubin our childhood memories.

    Steven Chan

  123. Aiyo.. Dan, no more mahjong liao. As for chess, todate only 2paxs (including you le), will hv to KIV first till we get more response first lor.. Patrick, rite??

Si mi is Capt Ball ha, so far only you n Steve, so also KIV first lor…

  124. Wei wei all the 5 stones players,

At Pulau Ubin, if we happen to pass by the Malay kampong, we can stop for a while and practise playing 5 stones….so as to recapture Steven’s childhood memories. He…he…heee
We all stay in kampong in the 1960s….70s…

    Ah Nee.

  125. Ah Nee

I did see some kampongs but they all belong to Chinese families. Other than this, there was a lonely Malay tombstone I found along the way. Cant recall the exact location. Only remembered the surrounding was quiet and peaceful.

  126. YK,

In that case, we will play throwing stones at each other at the Chinese Kampong and the 5 of your (Ronald, Joy, Susan and Steven)will practise their 5 stones’ skill at the Malay Kampong (tombstone)and YK will be the one on the look out, in case got intruders join in the game…he….he….eeerie

    Ah Nee.

  127. Ah Nee

Tell U the truth I made a wrong turn into one of the offbeaten tracks. I was the lone ranger then. Nevertheless the expereince was gd n fruitful in discovering more places.

  128. Hi Terence, cruise to nowhere is still around. You may not be happy with the rate though it is low season till 28 Sept07. Quad sharing is at $368 plus seaport tax at $79.00.Two night affairs. Leaving Fri. and back on Sun. At this rate it may burn a hole in most of our pockets.- Dan Huang

  129. Dan,

I support you. First to raise hand. “Jia You”

    Oui, all Kakis,
raise your hand leh… need more participants than supporters to make it happen. Judges, referees, umpire (vampire excluded) all come leh.

  130. Sue,

after a few vodka, many of us can limbo rock with ease liao.

    Steven Gao Lou
There is a height limit for Captain’s ball Goalkeeper Ok. Why not you start a Basketball team instead, many would love to be in your team. haha.

  131. Hi Dan,

Re comment #197 and #198, the cost of the cruise may be too high at the moment. I would probably rule it out for now.

The telematch is interesting. Didnt think about it earlier though. We should consider it one day. Maybe not for this year’s games day. You think about it, and we will definitely bear it in mind for next year.

    Terence Seah

  132. True.

We do face constraints, explicitly or otherwise, imposed by the venue owners.

In the case of CSC@BtBatok, it’s a members’ club which can be quite crowded on wkends.

While with prior arrangement certain rooms & grounds wd avail us for use, it’s unlikely that they’ll allow a telematch there.

Dan’s suggestion of a telematch is good which shd be made to happen next year if not at another event sooner.

  133. Dan, Dolly

Dan, I know a little bit about Chinese chess, but not very good and have not touch for a long time. If you don’t mind, may be we can have this on our game day (may be just you and me, ha ha)

    Dolly, OK or not

  134. Hi Andrew,
I play only International chess, may not be able to entertain you on Chinese chess. Thanks Dolly for keeping tracks of the chest players!

  135. Angmoh play international chess bcos they got mpore hair. Tng Lang play Chinese chess bcos they’re seen as square.

But the best you can do at chess is, when watching someone else play, yr mouth wont rest and their patience you test……….

  136. Thanks Joy, Yew Kwong, Steven and Ronald for joining me in 5 stones. Yeap, we will hv a game or two over at Ubin. Steven, you don’t hv to wear any helmet if you play with us, unless you lose lah…ha.ha..

  137. Hi Joy,

Since you hv brought the chapteh, could you bring along for me too. Terence, you’ll be the 1st to kick start this game, ok ?

    C U :)

    Susan

  138. Hi Guys,
Be it ang moh chess or cina chess or chest, i do not make decision, ask Patrick, the event organizer. My responsibility here is solely on registration la…

    Just for update:
Ang moh chess : 2 members and cina chess : 2 members. Anyone keen, pls register lor.. then I will feedback to Patrick so that he can make a decision.

  139. Hi Susan

I will take chapteh along for you. Looks like we will have walk, cycle and kampong games this day.

Another kampong game is where we stand behind a line and one person throws a rubber band on the floor. The second person tries to throw a rubber band to land on this first rubber band. If successful, the person gets to keep the two rubber bands. And the game continues…

We can also play hopscotch by using a twig to draw the hopscotch pattern on the sand.

Wah, if we play and play, we won’t have time to cover the place.

  140. Hi Patrick/Dolly.

Michelle Siew here. Since mahjong is off, will be a spectator and ‘lala’ lady -cheering and yelling jia-you, jia-you’ to all participants .

  141. Lily… gotcha. I could get them soon but to pass them to you could be challenging… let’s see how we can play the ‘pass it on’ ;)

  142. ALL you people who like to play chess, please bring a set along (Int’l or Chinese). For obvious reason, chess piece must be BIG and VISIBLE.

  143. Hi Patrick/Dolly

Please include Bessie Lam for bowling.
As for me, not participating in any games
but will drop by to ‘look see look see’

    Cheers
    Ann Lim

  144. Patrick,

You carry the privilege which comes with the responsibility of organising the AGD. It is only abt 6 weeks away.

Now that the venue is confirmed, that mahjong is out and bowling will quite definitely be played, you really will have to work out what the other games which will hv crowd appeal are, mindful of the venue constraints, if any, and the space/room availability on that day.

(I said “quite definitely” for bowling bcos I aint sure whether you hv actually booked the lanes…..1, 2…….or 6 lanes?). It’s a big risk to leave the booking to the 11th hour).

If you’re going down to CSC any wkend and like me to go along, pls dont hesitate to call 96695702.

    Cheers,

    tim

  145. Thanks Tim for your kind comments given.

Herewith I would appreciate very much if any of the abovementioned supporters would like to lead the following game and help to work out the schedule for cut off dates and setting rules and regulations for participants :

    1) Bowling
    2) Chatek
    3) Scrabble
    4) Limbo Rock
    5) Five Stones

As Tim mentioned : we are only 7 weeks to our SHC Annual Gamesday, I need to ascertain the volunteers by this weekend so please do not hesitate to give your kind co-operation.

I shall be calling for a meeting for those who have volunteers to help – by next week.

Date, Venue and Time will be made known by this Sunday

    Have a Nice Day

    Patrick Yeo

  146. Patrick, I am on standby this Thursday after 11.30 a.m., and on this wkend (other than sunday 1208 evening when I’ll be attending the Captain’s seafarers’ party).

    tim

  147. Thank you very much for your co-operations, so far I got the following SHC members to volunteer to lead in the games. They are :

    1) Benson for Bowling
    2) Joy for Five Stones
    3) _________ for Chatek
    4) _________ for Limbo Rock
    5) _________ for Scrabble

Don’t hesistate to volunteer to lead in item (3) to (5)

I’m still waiting until this sunday before Captain Seafearer’s Party.

Thanks Tim for lending me a helping hand. You will be invited together with Dolly and the rest of volunteers for a meeting next week. I’ll checkback with you guys on the date available for the meeting after I’ve confirmed Terence schedule.

Once again thank you very much.

    Patrick Yeo

  148. Here are some updates from Philip Puspalm. He is a member of CSC Bukhit Batok. I have requested Philip to confirm the use of the foyer and the bowling alley. Both are confirmed.

The foyer will have 5 chairs and 1 table. The rest of the space will be standing room, ideal for the intended games.

Foyer: 0800 hrs to 1200 noon. (min 4 hours)
Bowling will start 1030 hrs on 8 lanes.

Anybody hungry can order from the cafe, next to the bowling alley.

    Keep in touch.

    Terence Seah

  149. Patrick, if there’s none taking charge of scrabble, I will on one condition below.

The Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary (Special Price 5th Edition) will be used if a need to arbitrate arises. My decision, with reference to the dictionary, will be final.

Terence, good that you have confirmed the availability of bowling lanes and foyer space.

Since only 1 table will be available for use, some scrabble players might be disappointed unless it’s a kind of paired-off arrangement i.e. players teamed up in pairs or even in threesomes.

  150. Tim,

No worries with tables for scrabble. Actually, I was thinking we will all play scrabble, chatek, 5 stones and belong in the foyer, and all on the floor. Just like those days, when tables and chairs were expensive.

Patrick and games leaders will decide, once the committee is formed.

    Terence Seah

  151. Haha, Terence, ok, we’ll let the floor decide to enjoy it on the floor flawlessly on all-fours, and if there’s need to do a rub-on to relieve, surely you, Ben’son, Patrick and I will come to the fore and finally they can go to the pool to float about to wash b4 attending the next party after nite fall.

Like that, advisable for Ben’son to come in pants…….

  152. Tim, you are only bringing the dictionary? Who’s bring the scrabble sets? Those who are playing will bring their own?

    Wah, three questions in a row…tsk tsk…

  153. Hi All SHC members,

Looking at the response for the games, it looks like Limbo Rock is out of the Gamesday.

We shall be holding a sub-committee meeting on 19th. August at 11 am @ Club CSC.

The following Co-Event Organisers/Helpers and Games Leaders are codially invited to attend.

    1) Dolly
    2) Tim
    3) Benson
    4) Joy
    5) Lily Ho
    6) Mary Tan

Please let me know your attendance through my email : pyeo888@pacific.net.sg

    Thanks

  154. Joy, pertinent questions, timely reminders, many thanks.

Haha, you hv been seeing Yew Kwong at nite too to know that he’s making excellent progress and growing longer and longer by the day & nite?

Will see how long it is at P Ubin, hopefully can put together with mine as a pair of ivory chopsticks albeit not as thin but as tough.

I hv 1 tiny pocket-size scrabble set and will need another few sets, depending on the challenger count. Otherwise, let the coin to decide who the 4 players are, and the rest can stand behind to give counselling.

Patrick, if there’s no change to Dan Huang’s badminton session on the same morning which I hv committed earlier, I’ll be late to attend yr mtg unless you’ll hold it in yr car and park it at clementi sports hall.

  155. Hi Patrick/Dolly

To include my name have to scroll right down. Sound so exciting with so many games. Please include me for bowling – not good but trying. Maybe trying five stones too. Thanks.!!

  156. Terence/Patrick,
Lily told me that she have to work on Games Day Sat, so she will opt out.

For me, as I have customer in town this weekend to meet up ard 1pm so will have to leave early.

  157. Dear Dolly/Patrick

Can join in for the 5 stones. Hope my hands are still steady enough to catch all the stones.

As for bowling, is it possible to tentatively include my name. Pls advise when and where is the next training session for bowling.

    Thanks
    Eliza

  158. Terence/Patrick,
As I am rite now out for work trip in China, I will try to put up the updated post pertaining to this latest by this Friday when I am back Spore. OK??

  159. Dear All,

The Gamesday Organising Committee held its first mtg last Sunday. The details are being finalised and I am sure Patrick/Dolly will announce at the opportune time.

For now, as the scrabble convenor, I’ll state the Rules of Scrabble for those participating (the last count shows 9) which Rules do differ from the Standard Scrabble Rules. If players hv any comments/feedback, pls write.

    The Rules are :-

    1. Pls come to enjoy, and enjoy scrabble in the company of friends. Winning is incidental and usually, accidental.

    2. There will only be 1 session of play not excedding 2 hours (in any case, it’ll have to end by 10.30 a.m. latest for all to gather for the highlight of the Day at the alleys). Players will be alerted at 10.15 a.m. that it’ll be the last round of play. Each player has 2 minutes maximum to form a word each round, and will miss his turn if he fails to do so.

    3. Rankings will be determined by the aggregate points scored at the end of the session.

    3. Accordingly, in theory, the first 4 placings could come from the same playing group if all players in that group score higher than those in the other groups.

    4. If a player (A) decides to challenge another player (B) on the correctness of a word, the other players (C & D) will too have to take a stand, that is, whether they agree with A or with B on the word’s correctness and so choose their fate too (fair because they’re supposed to know English words otherwise why play scrabble, right?).

    5. The convenor will then rule on the word or if requested will check the dictionary for the correctness of the word. His decision shall be final here and in all situations of dispute. If the word exists, B together with the player siding him will each be awarded the points in the word, and the same points will be deducted from A and his suppporter. Vice versa if the word doesnt exist.

    6. Hyphenated words are not allowed. Past-tense words are acceptable. Again, the decision of the convenor is final.

Scrabble will be played at the foyer which is an open space with a drinks vending machine nearby, Do hv enough coins with you to buy yr playmates drinks.

Free seating on the floor so pls come early to choose yr auspicious facing. Bring a pillow or a inflatable cushion if you’re not one who’ll give up comfort so readily.

    tim

  160. Hi Everyone,

This is Philip. Food is available at the Bowling Alley Cafe. Another place where you can eat is the Poolside Cafe which is just a level below and also cheaper than the one in the Bowling Alley.
Another thing is that those among you who are Civil Service Club members can sponsor 4 guests to the swimming pool, but each guest has to pay a dollar, I think. See you all at the Club and hope you have an enjoyable time!
    Philip

  161. hi please register me for the SCRABBLE GAME TOO FOR GAMES DAY.HOPE IM NOT TOO LATE.MUST EXERCISE BRAIN A BIT OR WILL SUFFER CONSEQENCES OF DEMENTIA.THANK YOU
    REGARDS GRACE WONG

  162. Welcome Grace and I think we still hv room for 3 more, making 3 groups of 4 competitors each. Problem is, any sponsor of scrabble sets………only 2 at last count.

Philip is right on the 2 no-frills food joints. But for those who find the games offered a tad too staid, want more excitement with free food/drinks as the reward, do pls come in yr trunks/bikinis…..the coconut trees next to the swimming pool are heavy with fruits. I can teach you how to climb but you climb; I pick the fruits you throw down.

  163. Hi everybody,

I am glad to let all of you know that I have been assigned Games leader for Chaptek. Well, the rules later, but i shall make it easy for both sexes to participate.

Basically, two types of Chaptek games:

    1. Individual – how many times can you kick the chaptek, and keep it in the air.
    2. Two teams – Kick the Chaptek to the team, across the line, on the opposite site. Can you form a team of 3, and raise your hand.

The chaptek will not be provided. We shall bring along a big feather duster, some round rubbers, a few nails and some rubber bands.

We eager look forward to your enjoying yourselves.

    Terence Seah

  164. Hi Terence,

I think “chateks” are available at a novelty(party stuff) shop along South Bridge Road. Failing which, in the complex along Beach Road where the former tenants of Blanco Court are presently housed.

    Regards, Edwin Chen

  165. Dear Terence,

that’s right, can get from the shops along Beach Road. I can get them. How many do you need? Any participant need 1 earlier for practice ;) place your order with me lor.
Also, let me know when u need it? or to get it sooner, come for the walk on 8Sep :D

  166. Christina, Ann,

I recently saw a Chatek, aiyah is it spelt “Chaptek” or “Chatek”. It is a commercial product, with rubber base but with nylon plastic feathers. The feathers just wont stand.

If yours is made from real bird feathers, please buy one for me. I shall use it for demo, as well as for trials that day.

To make it fun on the Games Day, I am now sourcing for duck feathers (the long stiff Parker pen version) from the fresh market. Participants who come at 8 – 8.30 am on that day get to make their own chatek (Chaptek).

Ann, I used to make Chateks long long ago, but I cannot remember how now.

Edwin, I shall also have a look, to get an idea what the chateks look like at Blanco court.

    Terence

  167. Hi Terence

Joy got me one real traditional chaptek, not the one you saw…remember ?? this one is with feathers and very colourful too… ha..ha.. I shall bring it for you on games day.

  168. Hi Dolly

Shirlena Tham won’t be joining us on games day, so take off her name. (Think you need to edit above as some names appeared on double line)

    Thanks,

  169. Hi Christina,

If your Chatek is the same as Suzhang, then the feathers are made from thin nylon strips. The strips look lembek, cannot stand.

As feather duster is not, I am going for duck feathers.

Then, we can leave beach road alone. Cheers.

    Terence Seah

  170. Hi Terence

You got it all wrong. Christina is saying her chaptek is made of those colourful feathers like the one Joy gave me. Not the one you saw with thin nylon strips. Joy knows where to get the one you want, if you need extra.

Joy, can you tell Terence where you get yours from ?

    Thanks
    Susan

  171. Hi Terence,

Whilst playing badminton yesterday, an idea struck me. If you must make your own chaptek, why not “unpluck” the feathers from a used shuttlecock. There are about 5-6 feathers in each. These are definitely a lot stronger than the feather dusters’ or ducks’ considering they are selected to withstand all that smashing and hitting. Dan Huang might have plenty unwanted ones to spare.

Alternatively, you can go after the mother-hens’ when you are next in Thailand. Will be great fun chasing chickens around in the farm and plucking their feathers…

At the end of day, you have very original, exclusive, Annual Games Day 2007 chaptek made by Terence, not available anywhere else!

  172. Hi Gingko/Terence,

Terence, BEWARE of chasing after mother HENs in Thailand chicken farms for their prized feathers for making the chaptek , they may bring back BIRD FLU- something we can do wothout!

First SARS then Bird flu next K_K_ flu.

    Take GREAT care,
    Steven Chan

  173. Hi Organiser,

I’m a very new member. Please register me for Bowling.

What about organising practise sessions on Saturdays? I’m sure some members would like it but I don’t have their contacts.

    Have a nice day.
    Alice Seah

  174. Hi Alice,
    Welcome to SHC.

Regarding the practice sessions, since the bowling competition is to be held at CSC, it would be good that participants having their practice there, let hv a show of hands of how many are interested and then maybe Philip can help us on this? How about that?

  175. Hi Dolly, I am Mary, quite new here. I love scrabble, but have never played it competitively. Which dictionary do you adhere to because I think there is a Scrabble Dictionary apart from the usual Oxford, Webster etc. I play the online “solitaire” version. I would like to register but am a little concerned about the rules. Could you please enlighten me? Thanks.

  176. Mary, pls see #232 & #249.

But of cos I am happy to use yr dicitonary……..like that I’ll travel with 1 load less.

    Ai mai?

As regards the rules, heeee, self-made rules are sweeter & more comprehensible………

  177. Hi Patick/Dolly,

How about have a chess session too for those interest?

I will provide all the chess sets and clocks if needed. I am also prepare to do coaching for those keen to learn.

  178. ………and of cos Dan, I welcome yr contribution of clocks for scrabble, and be the honorary time-keeper who will be time-honoured forever……….

  179. Hi Mary,
    Welcome to SHC.
Just take it as a game to play lor… dun care simi dictionary la… I will put ur name in the scrabble list, ok??

Dan, of cos, you r welcome to bring along the chess sets, i.e. chinese, english or aeroplane 1 oso can…

Those are keen to learn, got sifu here. Those interested to play, pls indicate here…

  180. Terence, you have been saying abt making own chatek, and Susan n Chrisina’s chatek may not be the one in your mind. Let me assure you, the one I have bought have goose feather (not duck) measure 9 inches long, very colourful, and surrounding by 4 inches duck feather,at the base 4 layers of round rubber and 1 layer of metal for weight. Will bring it to you on Games Day.

    REGARDS

    Ronlai

  181. Dan,
I am still waiting for hands-up for chess la. Terence, are u game for this..

Yours is cina or angmoh chess har??

I am still waiting for more response on bowling practice b4 I can liaise with Philip on this la.. So far only of u showed hands le.. what abt others har??

  182. Hi Patrick/Dolly

Have read Dolly’s suggestion to hv Bowling practise b4 Games Day at CSC for members who are interested. You can put Alice and my name in for the pratise game, keep us inform. we will join you and Dan.

    Ronlai

  183. Hi Steven

Put your worry aside, the base is rubber, the metal is in between two rubber flaps, won’t hurt your feet. The metal is only thin slice, just to balance the weight of the chatek. Is easier to bounce with a GIANT than a MINI, you will be in for a surprise, leh.

    Ronlai

  184. Of cos, Andrew, you can la… after all, you are coming to support the cycling members on dat day, right?? You told me so tio bo??

Right now, we have Dan, Ron, Alice, Joy, Alice Seah and Andrew keen on bowling practice at CSC, any more to come??

I will liaise with Philip on this. How abt trying out on this Sat ard 2.30pm onwards har??

  185. Dan, thanks, likely to see 3 groups of 4 each competing so 3 clocks will do but if it’s too much a hassle, nvm cos it’s not too difficult for players to keep time themselves.

  186. Hi All bowlers,
Practice session for this Sat is out as Philip got some personal matter to attend to. He would like to propose that practice sessions can be arranged in weekday during the morning or afternoon as it is cheaper, i.e. $2.20/game i/o of $3+/plus during weekends and evening time slot, how abt this arrangement, pls indicate yr preference here so that Pilip can coordinate with the necessary arrangement. ok???

  187. Hi Dolly

Costwise weekdays better, will go for weekdays, if possible, Monday, Tuesday or Friday good for retirees. For those who are tieup with work, another session can be organised separately for them.

    Ronlai

  188. Hi Terence, Dolly and All SHC Chess enthusiasts,

In view of the time schedule given on Gamesday, we may not have enough time for “AngMoh Chess” nor “Cina Chess”. Probably someone can lead the chess competition on a seperate occasion. Any show of hands to lead this chess competition??

I will be consolidating the numbers of participants in two weeks time, so for those who haven’t register with Dolly, pls do so now.

Thanks and have a Nice Day.

  189. Hi Dan Huang,

Thank you very much for volunteering to lead in the Chess Tournament.

Please try to gather SHCians who are interested to participate in this mindskill and strategy game.

You may want to start this game on a league basis before the Annual Gamesday and find out the best of 2 to play on the Actual Day but please take note that there is no table and chairs available at the foyer of Club SCS. All our games will be play on the ground.

    Have a Nice Day.

  190. Hi Dan, Patrik and Dolly,

I doubt I can participate in chess during Games Day, as I am incharge of chaptek. My brains wont work, after doing a few chaptek rounds.

    Terence Seah

  191. Hi Patrick,

    Good idea about the league.

Are you saying that we should start the process of elimination now and getting ready for this year Game Day or next year’s.

  192. Patrick/Dan,

I wont lick up the league but will nick a few in the league, in btwn taking some with me for a leak so if we’re prepared we can do it quick & slick.

Menwhile, I hv my ears prick………..

  193. Hi Tim,
With regard to the Annual Games Day, I failed to notice the starting time of the games. I’m in Pasir Ris and 8.30am is much too early for me. Besides, by the time I get there, the games would probably be over. So, I wish to withdraw from the Scrabble game. If I can make it to go there, then I will just be an observer.
    My apologies for troubling you.

  194. Dear Mary,

The Organisiing Committee will release all the details when they’re finalised altho, understandably, some games may hv to start early.

No worry, if there’s a vacancy and you’re there already, I dont think anyone will object to your participation then.

    Let’s see how it goes.

    tim

  195. Hi Patrick / Dolly,

A new member just joined but look forward to this annual gathering. Pls register me for
bowling. Xie Xie Ni. Hope still not late to join.

  196. Hi Kristin,
It is always beta late than nvr, right… Welcome to SHC.

BTW, we hv booked 2 lane at Marine Bowl to cater for practise on 15 Sept’07 from 1pm onwards. Join them if u 1 2… ok…

  197. Hi Dan,

If possible we can have the 2 finalists play during this coming Games Day and hope that Terence can consider a price or 2. But you must figure out how the 2 finalists going to play over at club SCS.

As for the venue for the league, you may want to consider to play it at the community centre or parks or members house.

    Please give us your ideas.

    Thanks

  198. Hi Patrick,

Okay, will try to liase with all chess players to meet and play to get two players for the final showdown!

We now have Daniel Chan, Terence and Dan to slog it out! Who else keen to participate?

  199. Thanks folks…i’ve been away for 2 weeks. I mean out of Sg. Back now. Thanks Dan Huang..count me in for the Chess Games.
Good if we can have a warm up. Are you a Civil Service Club member ?….we can have a game at B Batok or Tessossooonnn (arrrhh…what a name !) Road. Regards

  200. Dear Mary & Susan

Regret to inform that we wish to withdraw our names for bowling. We will be out of Singapore.

    Thanks and best regards

    Maureen Tay and Jeffrey Fong

  201. Hi Mary Tan and Susan Chang,
I notice my name is still down for the Scrabble. I wish to withdraw as I’m in Pasir Ris and 8.30am is too early for me.
    Thanks

  202. hahaha.. ic.. guessed my mistake as I did not make it clear enough… Registration by Mary/Susan is actually for actual day.. beta rephrase 2 avoid confusion liao.. paiseh paiseh..

  203. Hi Dolly/Yew Kwong,

Please register Evelyn Ong(a memeber) for bowling and as for myself as a supporter.
Thanks and Adios Amigos till then byeee.

    Cheers
    bbc

  204. Hi Catherine

Patrick is the event organiser wif Dolly helping out. I m the spectator cum participant.

    Hi Patrick

As requested, pls register Evelyn Ong 4 bowling n Catherine Chong as supporter.

  205. Hahaha, BbCat, luckily you didnt ask Amigos or Byeeee to register for you and Evelyn cos you’ll find yrselves registered for a full-board 2D/1N stay in the mandai zoo entertained by a minstrel of singing cuckoos……………

Seriously, fr what I know, Ben son, Puspalm, KK, Ron, Jeremy……….. are SHC’s known bowling kingpins so yr friend Evelyn might want to follow them closey for a good score or even surge ahead in the last frames on competiton day.

Incidentally they’re all guys so “follow closely” means see where they go hor………..

  206. Hi Yew Kwong,

    Thanks for the prompt reply/info.
Bopian me blurr blurr leh that’s why sometimes friends call me blur queen.

    Hi Patrick,

Please don’t forget to count us in hor?
    Thanks.

Tim Liu,not bad mah if can stay in the zoo then I’ll get to meet all your cousins and relatives and hear stories of all your antics when you were there hee hee

  207. Participating in Chaptek. Everybody participating makes his/her own chaptek on the day. Feathers, rubber pads, nails and rubber bands will be provided.

    There are two game types:

    1. Singles – the score will be taken, based on how many times you can hold the chaptek in the air. You have three tries, kicking the chaptek; the max score will be used to determine who has the highest core.

    2. Foot bat – Someone will throw the chaptek at you. You will then have to kick the chaptek, across and over a string of rubber bands. If the chaptek goves over, you get one point. The player with the highest number of points wins.

Come put your name down. No last minute participants. Have fun. If you are there at 8am, you get advantage to practise early.

    Terence Seah

  208. Hahaha, Terence, clever you.

You said you’ll provide feathers. No doubt you must hv, after years of washing papayas, watched Papaya.

In the movie, the gals all looked so pretty & sexy wearing feathers.

Dont our gals too want to look pretty & sexy at the Games Day? So wont I want to help them…..as your inspiration takes shape.

Yes, you shall limit the gals to 10 feathers each for that bit more skimpiness. (heee, like T said, you can determine who has the highest core…..and on it, the biggest mole)

Not to be outdone, the guys’ll make wings with the 10 feathers and try (or pretend) to float around competing for the gals attention as the gals compete for theirs.

Folks, are you game or too tame to play this feather game for the chance to live forever in fame?

  209. Hi Terence,

Would like to have a part in the chatek fun…any exception in accepting me…latecomer in this event…but newcomer to this club…

    Pls advise…thanks!

  217. Hi Patrick,

I had indicated that I wanted to participate in 5 stones many months ago upon viewing your post today found that it has still nOT been updated.

    Pls. update.
    Thanks Steven

  218. Hi organisers,

I wanted to participate in Bowling, my name shown in #71. However now I have a personal matter to attend on the 20th and with regret have to withdraw my participation.

    Mu apologies for inconvenience caused.

    Regards, Alice Seah

  219. Dear Organisers,

Due to unforeseen circumstances I need to give up my participation in the Games Day for some urgent matters.

Thank you for registering me in the chatek event and now gotta trouble you to deregister me..my most humble apology..

    J.C.

  220. Hi Patrick/Terence

I was looking forward to enjoying the annual games (as I did last year). However (paiseh, paiseh), I have to go to Malaysia (last minute) from Tuesday 16/10/07 to Sat 20/10/07, so have to skip this event (quite disappointed). My apologies, please “unregister” me.

    sb

  221. HI Patrick/Dolly

Unregister me for 5 stones so that I am covered with helmet and keep a close watch from 45 stones flying around by angry mobs.

    :) Rene

  222. Dear Dolly/Pat

Please delete my name from the list as I have a training seminar on this morning which I have overlooked the date. My apology. I have actually registered for bowling. Since Lina Ng is requesting to register for bowling, perhaps she can take my place (so coincidentally, we are sharing the same name). Lina (Ng), if registration is granted, happy bowling all the way through but not to the ‘longkang’. :)- Have a good time – to all the particpants and thank you to the organisers for organising this event.

  223. Hi…Dolly, Terence and all…

I am terribly sorry. UNABLE to attend Annual Games Day on 20th. GCE O LEVEL is around the corner. My students (and their parents) want more tuition. Poor kids. Competition is tough. My weekends now all burnt till first week of Nov. My salute to all who have made this possible. Would certainly want to join next time. Enjoy.

  224. Hi Dolly/Pat

Would love to go bowling but due to the fact that something crops up last minute, I am unable to attend. My sincere apologies. Thank you for organising this event.

  225. Hi Tim
Would like to join in scrabble.

    Dolly/YK
Please delete my name for bowling.

    Rene
Five stones for me too. Thanks for helping in the update.
See u at the games. cheers!!!!!

  226. Susan/Gwen/Joy,
Kindly note that as both scrabble and 5stones started ard the same time, hence you are not able to participate these 2 games at the same time. Pls let me know your preference asap. Thanks… Dolly

  227. Gwen, re yr #375, most welcome altho you may have to choose btwn playing Scrabble or scrabbling for stones (pls see #377).

The Rules for Scrabble are as indicated @ #239. However, if all players in the same contest agree b4 the game to play it differently, pls let me and it will be played the way you like.

    Enjoy………..that’s the objective.

  228. Hope to make the Day pricier with another prize.

As I am a firm believer of choice & fate, the winner of this prize will get to choose either a $30 cash token (which shd cover his/her cab ride to ecp for the p.m. cycling + bike rental) or a soccer bet ticket of $30 face value which, if the winner is fated to win, will cover his/her cab fare plus enough $ to buy a cleaver and pork to chop to make pork chop.

  229. For all participants in the Games Day, please note that SHC and the organisers will not be responsible for accidents or injuries in the games ie bowling, scrabble, five stones, and chaptek.

Please take necessary precautions to ensure your safety; and if you have any health issues or medical concerns, please do not participate in the games.

The organisers look forward to your support this Saturday.

    Terence Seah

  230. Chaptek Game:

Chapteks will be available during the Games Day. Each participant will be given 3 tries to kick the chaptek. The highest score of the 3 tries will be used to determine the winner.

Should the chaptek land on your shoulder, back or your head, no point will be allocated, but the player may continue with the game, and continuing with the scores accumulated earlier.

It’s easy. Only one winner will be selected.

    Terence Seah

  231. SHC’s disclaimer #384 is necessary & timely.

While we the partcipants acknowledge that every reasonable effort & precaution will be taken to ensure safety in the games to be played and the manner of play, we hereby accept that we shall personally assume all risks including injuries and/or loss of personal effects in our voluntary partcipation in thegames, and shall indemnify and hold SHC and its organisers harmless from all and any action, claim, demand, suit, recourse whether for compensation or otherwise.

  232. Hi Dolly,

I am v. sorry I cannot take part in the games.Pls. delete my name.Thanks.

  233. Hi Wee Chin, you are in d bowling now. cu.

Hi Joy, noted your choice.. 5stones rule complicated meh… I tot is like dat 1 leh.. not meh :(

Hi Steven, noted and cancelled. C u at other SHC activities den… Take care

Hi Molly, if you are using your own bowling shoes dat day, no nid 2 pay $1 for rental of shoes lor… Just let YewKwong noe and pay only $9 for 3 games.

CSC cafe operating hours is from 10.30am to 11.00pm.

  234. As it presently stands, there are 6 scrabble players on G’Day which means two groups of 3 contestants each.

I’ll bring my scrabble set and I remember a kind soul has volunteered to lend me her set too (and Terence, you too hv 1 set on standby, yeah?).

Ok if Joy wants to throw the letter-tiles (not from my set hor) at me but the deal is, after she is happy with those throwing she shd throw herself at me for me to throw her into the swimming pool with Patrick tied to her……Terence, remember the mermaid you didnt get to see at Copen……..her sister will be at CSC swimming pool for you to ogle……..

  235. Dear Patrick/yew kwong/dolly,

Sorry i m unable to attend the said game day this sat. as i have urgent office work to do. Pls deregister my name for bowling.

    Thanks.
    richard lee

  236. Hi,
How wish i could take part of the Games Day, but too bad that I need to work on this sat.

Wish your enjoying the Games Day! Hope to meet up with your again.

  237. Hi Cath,
Yeap, bad hor… no worries la… there is always a next time.. cu next games day hor..

Hi Richard, noted with thanks. Cu at other activities.

Hi Susan, noted your request thru’ email dat u 1 2 out from bowling.

  238. Tim,

I checked my storeroom, and there is ascrabble set. Will bring it along. I think it is complete, except the box may look crummy, and the tiles look like pulled-out teeth.

And, I heard all the mermaids from CSC have gone home, for holidays. Haha.

    Terence

  239. Tks, Terence, you never let anyone down and the only thing you ever let down are yr pants……..and you hv my understanding for that (heeee, how else can you shit?).

No worry that the box may be crummy if it’s big enough to seat a butt (incidentally, the players are all from Venus), better than she sitting on the cold hard floor.

Hope the tiles are of the same size no bigger than those found in yr washroom.

Why fret over the absence of CSC mermaids when we hv our very own SHC pom-pom gals dressed to draw the arrghh? And we go gaga.

Btw, will you, as founder, be waving yr rainbow-colored swimming trunks? Or will you flounder when the beauties start kicking their legs high………….?

  240. Hi Patrick

Since I am staying quite near to the place, would like to pop in and maybe join a game of 5 stone. Just got my password to join in the chat. Hope is not too late. cheers

  241. Wei Dolly-san

Anyone bringing 5 stones ? I hv 1 chaptek and am willing to exchange for 5 stones if someone can bring it for us… deal ?

    Thanks,
    Susan

  242. Hi Patrick/Dolly,

I still think that the bowling competition should be on a league effort of the or four to a team.

Individual effort where most rookies bowlers may end in the ‘longkang’ can be very discouraging! Collective effort are more thrlling!

It still not to late for the person in charge to change the format.

The team that came in may require more prizes. I am ready to sponsor to more tupperware gifts.

  243. Hi Susan,
Chris Chan aldoe not able to attend the games day had graciously offered 2 get 2 sets of 5stones for Games Day and I supposed that you can take these back once this game is over lor as I am not taking these back lor..

Hi Helen, Welcome to SHC and since you had only acquired the password recently to log in. For this effort, u r in for 5 stones/bowling liao… Cu there b4 8.30am for registration if u r game for 5stones hor…

Hi Dan, as u may hv glanced thru’ all these comts, most of them r bowling for fun and not so much abt prizes. I dun noe wat abt Patrick’s opinion but for me, I prefer to have a good laff at d funi side of bowling instead of d seriousness. Nevertheless, Patrick is the EO, so he has d final say – Patrick – pls comment on this.

  244. The suggestion to compete in bowling as a team certainly has its merits; not least, it removes the inhibition in a new bowler.

As I understand it, SHC G’Day is a day when silverhairs will play hard, caring not scores but how to get yr opponenets laughing till they slumps on the floor.

Trust me, there’s this bowler who will hold the ball for minutes as he stands in the lane, sniffing every curve, and will say a prayer before he rolls it out like ridding himself of a thorny durian. That brings laughs, not score. He din seem to mind; we certainly didnt mind giving him our laughs.

  245. Sleep well; and come early.

As an added incentive, the 1st 10 persons to catch hold of me, can look into my breakfast bag. I think you can have a choice of nasi lemak, carrot cake, butterfly, soon keuh, etc. 1st come, wow lucky one.

    Cheers. Terence

  246. Terence, pls buzz me after the first 10 hv turned up, I’ll take the bag and hide a house bowling ball to take home for soccer training.

Cant sleep…….s-league football match on now not going my way. If sukatngkor, you’ll hv to juggle all 3 chateks yrself 2morow.

  247. To Terence, Patrick, Dolly

CONGRATULATION on the successful Annual Games Day held today. Special credits also have to be accorded to Yew Kwong, Oi Cheng, Caroline Gee, Susan, Tim Liu, Rene and Grace for the help they rendered. It was quite a great turn-out, with the games gone on smoothly throughout the morning, ended with the prize presentations.
Not forgeting our photographer, Philip, and with his help obtained the availability of the bowling lanes from the CSC for our usage.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ANNUAL GAMES DAY IN 2008……….

    Ron n Alice Lai

  248. Having lost the tile throwing game to Joyce (by a verrrrrry narrrrrrow margin, hee hee), I threw the Oxford dictionary at Tim. That was the best part of the game.

  249. To Terence, Patrick, Dolly and all the other organisers

The Game Day was indeed very successful, fun and enjoyable, many thanks to your efforts and time spent in organising such event.

Guess everyone had a great time there too. By the time I reached home after dinner I was real dead tired and went to bed early which I never did before.

  256. Hi Dolly/Molly,

How r u both of you getting on now?

Hope both had recovered by now and thanks very much for Dolly’s lift back to Sunset way.

I believe it was the stress for the preparation of the games events and the continuous bicycle ride without much rest could have made both of you unwell.

    Take good care,
    Steven Chan

  257. Hi Philip/Dolly/Patrick,

  259. My heartiest acknowledgment to Terence for his indomitable spirit to continue a healthy tradition into its 2nd year; Patrick for assembling a very good Committee That ran the Event with clockwork precision; Dolly for hosting the show almost single-handedly, spicing it up so naturally with gags and funny one-liners, and all those who had helped or participated to make the G’Day so memorable and a day to cherish.

Joy, that Oxford dictionary was mine so if you throw it at me, I lose. But if buy some h-c-pans to throw at me, I welcome that; in return, I can gift you some y-c-kwai. So, on at the Talentime?

Thanks, Philip. I was lucky to catch you on a day when you were battling the flu, and not least, I was helped by my partner Boon Liang who stunned me with 2 strikes right at the beginning of the first game (thanks Boon Liang for the impetus whihc oushed me on).

Cd hv made some $ from 5708……’50+’70+’88 = ’08 so cut it short = 5708. Damn it, ah yew pek had other ideas so in that saturday evening, it was 6708 for the 4-D 2nd prize.

Funny leh, I saw toddlers running in diapers with noses dripping when I entered picasaweb…how come what I saw differed from what it’s supposed to be huh? An act of David Ricefield?

  260. No worries Dolly. It was my pleasure to make breakfast for my buddies. Glad that everyone enjoyed the nasi lemak.

Thanks Ron. It was my pleasure to be of some help. It was a win win situation for all :)

    Have a nice day everyone
    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  261. This is my first time attending such event and am glad to be there to join in the fun and laughter. Good job to Terence, Patrick, Dolly and all the other organisers.

Tim, you should thanks Caroline for her piece of carrot cake -probably it helps to give me the extra boost in the first game. Well, the 2 strikes cannot make up for d 4 baggers in your second game. It was nice and challenging to be partnering with you too. But I’ll be back!

Philip – pleasure meeting you and nice photos taken.

See ya in next year Games day!

  262. Tim, no accident that you won. Yes Boon Liang could have given you some impetus to bowl well.
Boon Liang it was nice to meet you too. Maybe we can meet up for some informal bowling games. Let me know if you are interested. You too Tim.
Chin has already asked me to book lanes for us to play, but only on a week day.
I hope to get feedback on the pics I took. I just enjoy taking pics of people having fun.

    Regards, Philip

  263. Boon Liang & Philip,

I said it before, that excessive diplomacy gets one into hypocrisy so I shall only say this : you both are terrific guys, unassuming & exuding humility all round.

Yes, it is a good idea to meet up for bowling also with those who too get the kick out of it.

In all honesty, te pics are nice………you get a bit of peek-a-boo and the rest is left to imagination, like when the crab comes a calling……………..

  264. Dear Dolly,

Hope it’s not too late to say “thank you” for all the effort you hv put in for this games day. It was fun and we truly enjoyed every single games.

And special thanks to Molly & Caroline for taking the extra miles to make breakfast for us. You gals are so thoughtful. If not, all of us will pengsan before the game start.
