Report – SHC Overnight Gathering @ Batam Sijori 07.o7.07

Here’s the report on our 1st overnight gathering :   emoticon

On 07.07.07 – forty SHC members met early at HarbourFront for the first SHC overnight gathering in Batam.  Despite heavy rain that morning, most were there on time except for one who almost missed departing with us.   emoticon

On arrival at Batam, we boarded an aircon coach and together with the local guide as well as the Singapore guide, we set out for the sight-seeing tour.  As the local guide only spoke Chinese, there were complaints from a SHC member.  The matter was resolved after Lily told the Singaporean guide to take over.

Due to the rain, the first stop at Waterfront, an amusement park with water activities such as water-skiing, para-sailing, etc., was changed to a ‘drive-through’ only.  The rest of the sight-seeing followed as according to the programme which included a delicious seafood lunch at a kelong style restaurant.

At our last shopping stop, Batam’s biggest and latest shopping mall, some 18 SHC members opted to go for massage instead.  So, the group split up and at the appointed time and place, we met up again for the final journey to Sijori Hotel.  From the comments by some SHC members, the massage experience was a lousy one.  One lady member even came out bruised.

At Sijori Hotel, we had a simple dinner after check-in.  Members had a chance to freshen up before meeting up again at the KTV lounge for karaoke session and some dancing.   There were complaints about the food, the small portion of it, and the small size of their ‘villa’.  (It was the same person who complained about the Chinese speaking guide.)

When the singing and dancing session was over, the organiser led some members to a midnight swim.  Only the men were swimming.  The women hung around the poolside talking and taking pictures of the ‘hunks’.  Their excuses….?….  "Don’t want to get my hair wet lah, make-up ruin, blah blah blah……."   emoticon

Later in the night …..uhmm….. I mean, in the morning ….., we had our ‘open-house casino’ at the ‘boys’ villa.  Mahjong and black-jack sessions were on at the same time until members dropped off to sleep 1-by-1.  After breakfast, our ‘casino’ resumed, with more players, till check-out time.  We arrived back in Singapore at 4.30pm.

The event organisers hope that everyone have at least enjoyed the trip a little, and apologise to those, whose expectations we did not meet.  We also take this opportunity to thank eveyone for their co-operation and spontaneity in making this event a fun one.    emoticon

Thank you everyone,

and thanks to Yew Kwong and Terence, here are photos for your viewing :

  1. A special THANK to my buddy, Dolly. :)

Dear Dolly, – Thank you for supporting me all the way – be it this event or others. I wouldn’t have the same spirit if you weren’t around. Thank you so much, you are the best gift SHC has given me.

    Love,
    Lily

  2. Lily, Dolly, and everybody,

For many of us, and for me, this Batam overnight trip was an absolutely enjoyment. With many SilverHairs not knowing one another, Lily and Dolly have got all of us feeling like close friends.

Surprisingly, I have to admit Lily is a lot more cool than I read from her postings. And Dolly is more crazy than her seriousness during the D&D.

I was aware, at the last minute, that some SilverHairs ladies were planning to give Tim a lesson; but unfortunately, Tim got away. Guess the lesson never came.

I have got so many words to say; but I better keep it short for everyone to have a say.

Thanks to everyone. I have got to know more friends from SilverHairsClub.

    Terence Seah

  3. terence Says: …SilverHairs ladies were planning to give Tim a lesson…

Yes, the ladies did and Tim didnt get away. He only did after he paid for his passage out in hard cash. Anyway he had made them very happy although he was poorer by a couple of hundred.

  4. Thanks for a great job done, Lily.

Thanks for being a great assistant, Dolly.

Thanks for good cross talk at the mahjong session, Andrew and Dolly. Without that Susan would have long fallen asleep and we, at the card session would have left without entertainment.

Thanks for the “strange kind episode” I heard from the ladies at Food Republic where we had our food before going home. If you wish to hear it, it will be re-broadcasted at coming cycling activity.

  5. It was a very good write-up on the trip. succinct, concise and cheeky, throwing a pumch here and inflicting a pinch there to highlight some delinquents’ stepping out of line.

I turned thru the photos with my kid. On page 0630, she asked, dad, are that panties, finding that more captivating than her dad’s flushed looks on a losing streak.

The fairer sex (Trence/Lily, not taboo in this context hor) are, by nature, adventurous and daring (heard of a male amazon?), and they can drive thru bushes to find nirvana.

If there’s 1 lesson I want the gals to teach me, it has to be how to brush aside bushes, go in deep & find pleasure.

(Terence, see, I dont hv to bribe you with brandy & whisky for you to tell…..it’s all written on their faces).

  6. Lily,

Thanks for organizing the wonderful event and let this last-minute comer joint. Surely enjoyed the whole trip in the 2D/1N (especial the 1N)

Hi, all the trips members, thanks for your patience to tell me your names (please forgive this idiot in remember names). Now, I know most of your names (June, Joy …………..). Next time when I see you, I can come to you directly, call your name, and talk to you happily. How nice!

One thing not very happy is lossing the money to the lady (Susan, there are still next time) again. Dan, sorry I leave the mahjone table earlier (due to I’ve drunk), otherwise, I think you also can win.

Hi all, hope you also enjoyed the trip like me.

  7. Dolly,

Yes, I think I’ll never drunk. But with the vodka, I got the 2nd drunk in my life. Luckily, haven’t don’t any thing wrong except losing a little bite money (better than the first time). Mever touch the vodka again!!!

    Lily,

Agreed with Catherine, must give you a standing ovation for your effort of the trip. Sure, no people can compete with you for the organizer of our next trip. I’ll be the first one to raise my hand for the next trip wherever and whenever(not the last minute anymore). Thanks

  8. Re-posted over from previous

It was raining dogs n cats on Sat morning but that did not deter the 40 of us bravely to Harbourfront, some were there as early as b4 8.00am…..

Lily, I am sure all of us enjoyed this trip very much eventhough there was abit of small hiccups over the room accom. Knew that you were abit upset for this happening but rest assured that we all knew that this was not your fault at all. So whether there was extra bed or no, not a single 1 SHC had complained at all.

Andrew, so now you knew har, vodka not 4 u hor… vry kheng hor… cant even kept your eyes opened at all… such a funny sight to watch both Susan and I yawning along where Dan and I are still vry ‘jing shen’ lor… but hor.. I still lose le…

Someone told me, cant recalled who liao, the only time we can saw more guys than gals was at the midnite swim… 6 hunks and 1 beauty lor… Ladies, which of the hunks is your favorite har… Veron got these pics, bet if she going 2 let these photos at car boot sales hor.. she will definitely make a fortune hor.. Right, Veron??

Aiyo, Athony, mai ke ke…. you must be feeling proud as peacock while parading towards swimming pool Sunday morning, so many ah wu calls n cat whistles… Complaint kena threw out straightaway liao, right Terence??

Priscilla, I reli ‘got eyes dun noe orh e orh” as you hv been quite quiet during this trip but Sat nite karaoke reli make me see you up up le.., your ‘ti ni hwa’ n shang hai tan’ were reli good le… at least now, many of us knew that you can understand Cantonese liao… hehehehe… Maybe can join the talentime coming this November, how abt that har??

Most of them were enjoyed happily singing karaoke and dancing till the wee hours…

Open hse at Rm 255 also fantastic with lots of foodies n drinks coupled with card games and mahjong…… Somemore hor.. Bessie and Ah Nee got Si Fu to coach them to play mahjong le… so ladies, ready to take up challenge at games day hor??

All those will not make possible if not for our great organizer, Lily, rite?? Agreed?? Quoted what Cath said earler, I am sure everyone enjoyed this trip cos I certainly did…

Philip/Andrew, no worries la… I also cant remember some of members’ names lor.. but hor, there is always next time/place where we will meet again so I believed it is matter of time, we remember one another.. cheers

  9. Hi Lily,
Yeap, I am also glad that I din missed you at SHC, buddy… we definitely ‘he zhou xu kwai’ lor.

Hi Terence, I will take what you said as compliments lor.. work hard n party hard is my motto in life la…

  10. Wu mai, Yew Kwong, are u sure, Tim su meh.. I din win le… hehehehe.. Maybe other beauties win lor.. so which beauty win the most $$$ from Tim….

  11. Hi Lily, thanks for an excellent job done. As far as I know, you have done more than just organizing the event. There were little things you did to ensure that everyone enjoy themselves that not many were aware or took for granted. Like using your resourcefulness and initiative to extend the karaoke n dancing session right into midnight so that everyone could continue with the joy and fun.

Of course, not forgetting bubbly Dolly, for her thoughtfulness and being such a pillar of support to you. She is such a dear friend and great assistant, isn’t she?

I really enjoyed myself and got to make more new friends. I also had the opportunity to know better some of whom I had met before. My “bed mate” is a good example. I discovered she “lullaby” me in her sleep and was kind enough not to kick me off the bed! Thanks mate, but I will still not hesitate to share a bed with you again.

Tim Tim Liu, sorry that an inexperienced starter like me in Black Jack had won twenty odd dollars from a veteran like you. I wonder was it your wrong strategy or my first-timer’s luck? I hope you have better luck next time… hehe

  12. Compliments/Thanks !
A good, caring, great event organiser (Lily Ho)
Great companionship….fun and enjoyable trip ..
Looking forward to future outings …

Newbies…, after hearing all our feedbacks, what are u waiting for…do join our various shc activites soon ..cheers !

  13. Gingko, $350 odd is relatively small beer to make abt 10 persons happy.

Tks, Terence, for yr vodka which seemed to work me into a stupor not helpefd by Lily flapping her thighs – open close open close – like learning to fly.

Well, all said, it was a fair price to pay for vodka & a breathtaking sight.

  14. Ah Tim,
You said “$350 odd is relatively small beer to make abt 10 persons happy” but hor, these definitely make many beauties vry vry happy lor…

Now I know liao, with vodka, your mind cant functions well.. OK, I will throw in vodka again next time…. Beauties, be prepared for when ATM burst… hahahaha

  15. Nose Bleeding At Massage Session

Actually,I not intend to go,cos I afraid of pain.
But since I reached there, die die must try.Asked the beauty guards, they said can take in one more. So,there,I jointed the group.

As this was my first massage,I took off my glasses, shirt, long pants & leaving my under wear.Of couse, massage need to take out those things what!!!!As I lay down on the bed,Tim Ah Liu was next bed to me,he opened the curtain & saw me.”What are you doing there???put on your short pants…”

Oh,my goodness, due to the room was dark,& I did not wear my glasses,I did not aware that the short pants was beside the pillow.

Within 1 second,I put on the pants with hot & red face.

Thanks to Tim Ah Liu,he save my life, otherwise,”Wan Jie Pui Boa”

    Many thanks to Tim

  16. Haha, Anthony, dont hv to thank me.

tim ah liu tim tim liu whatever new liu folks wanna call me, the liu in me knew you were a green chick very vulnerable & exposed.

Anyhow, if I went in with a bro i didnt want to leave with a eunuch or worse, a sis.

  17. Lily, thanks much again. Dolly…wow what’s your reaction whn u read the 3liner from Lily?..such simple words but they say so much!!! SHC members, u are so sporting!! Terence, thanks much for starting this club…I get the chance to be “siow” with people my age. :-)))

  18. Hi June,
My reaction…hmm hmm is like ‘aiyo. no need to say out in here, paiseh lor, cos already by default we are super invincible buddies mah’

Yeap, many thanks to Terence to hv SHC started, if not, we would not know each other and have so much fun… more to akan datang right??

I dont use the word ‘siow’, prefer to use the word ‘cheo’ lor… more sexy la…

  19. Dear Lily,

Thanks for taking so much time and effort in organising this enjoyable trip to Batam. See Lily, there are more compliments than complaints, so don’t worry or be discouraged – as like in any event, there are bound to be some hiccups along the way and we can never pleased everyone, right ? It’s never easy but we learn along the way and have confident you will hold a even better trip for us next time round. Yeap, I totally agree too, you definitely have found a good buddy cum partner, Dolly, who is always there to help and can count on. Oh yes, she has a huge sense of humor and a great entertainer too. So much for the fun and laughter, and of course, thanks to Andrew and Tim, for without them, I won’t be richer and have money to take a taxi home so quickly, to catch up with my wonderful sleep…he..he.. and Andrew, don’t be so “siew hey” lah… I will let you win during the games day lor, ok ? :)

Thanks to Yew Kwong, Terence and Priscilla for all the pictures. It serves as a good memory for us all.

    Cheerio,
    Susan

  20. Hello all the wonderful SHC members. It was such a fun outing, never “siow” like this before! I want to thank all the camera men for such nice photos for remembrance and show off to my family members. Also a big thank you to our capable Lily & humourous Dolly, I think I will go to a trip only if Lily and Dolly are there. Without you 2, no fun leh! During the Karaoke night, I am very impressed how Lily get control over the microphone…every singer get a chance to sing…..alternate english and mandarin songs….extended the hours so that people like me can dance and funky thru the wee hours. Ha…ha…ha… when is next trip?

    Ah Nee.

  21. Oh ya, I want to ask Lily, who is staying at Room 266? Spooky…spooky….leh ####
Any SHCians at Room 266? Can check? I am staying at Room 267! Hope Room 266 was occupied, otherwise ??????

    Ah Nee.

  22. Who is staying at Room 266 is not important.Do not worry. You are protected by our SHC gentleman body guards

Our motto:.You cannot down before we down.

  23. Aiyoyo Buddies,

You all sound like I have missed out soooo….much fun.

Nice and sharp photo shots that captured some of the SHCians most captivating expression.

Can’t wait to listen to all the eeeee… stories ya!

  24. ANee, I shall answer it for Lily.

Yes & indeed, it was occupied. Fact that you asked means that you had not met them, and count yrself very lucky for that.

The site was a graveyard for those who died tragic deaths……mutilated, murdered victims bashed or burnt beyond recognition. With their bodies (if you can still call them bodies) unclaimed, they were all buried there.

Hands holding severed heads with eyes gouged roamed aimlessly in the nites, tongues slit in the middle, gored bowels…….Dots of fire floated in the air as the cold wind howled thru the trees in melancholy.

After the place was developed, the headman of the headless spirits came to a truce with the owner who agreed to house them all in 266.

So you were blessed that they didnt go over to 267 & asked for a danz. Or a date.

  25. I did hear Tim’s story from someone else 2. If I was there I wld hv go door knocking 2 get 2 know them (whoever they are???). Who knows what’s next? Get them 2 join in the funs 2 if only they qualify to be SHC members lah. Ask them 4 confirmed lucky numbers. If they are more than willing, appoint them as our next line of body guards. Of course no pay hor (they got more monies than us).

  26. Dolly ta jie ta,

Die Die work comes first lah. Ar bo? lau liao bo tan jia (S..c..q Me hor, not very good in hokkien).

Must show my boss this SHC website liao, See! I worked ka “siow” where my buddies played ka “siow”. Next round must tell him to RE-PLAN and RE-SCHEDULE ROADSHOW CALENDAR liao.

  27. Ya hor, I should have called all the gentlemen to guard outside Room 267, make sure all the headless spirits don’t enter Room 267! Must asked Tim for permission first ### and Anthony’s motto:You cannot down before we down??
Anyway “they” didn’t asked for a date or danz but asked us to lower our noise thru “writing on a piece of paper slip thru the conneting door”. Was wondering who? cos we are very sure no one next door.spooky leh….

    Ah Nee.

  28. Ah Nee,

So, after one overnight coaching from 2 sifu, you skip the grade from nursery to “Elementary” liao har. So, we can progress to “Intermediate” together la.

  29. Renee,

You missed all the fun lah, I still cannot “go down the mountain”, not up to “Sifu” standard yet. Must practise…….
If we have the opportunity, Bessie, me, you and one sifu play together and see what happen? We practise among ourselves first otherwise we have to pay learning fees.

    Ah Nee.

  30. ANee, so they wrote you a note and you took it with yr fingers ? This is serious !

Altho you must hv bathed by today, no soap, detergent or bleach will remove the black magic that’s transmitted thru the paper which means you cant dig yr nose with those fingers anymore.

Heeee, those heroes who say wont let this down that down will hv to help you clear yr nostril waste. Chance for them to walk their talk unless they go hide in chinatown, make no sound so that they’ll never be found, and in that case, the deposits will weigh yr nose down so much so that you end up looking like a long nose clown all bcos of someone who promised not to let you down.

    Phew !

  31. Dolly,

Don’t play play leh! All the mahjong kakis will “humtum” me. Who can tolerate this slow beginner player? I rather try my best not to throw the ball to the “longkang”.

    Ah Nee.

  32. helo Tim Liu…about the spooky room 266..we girls at 267 very curious..wanna know who were they lah…the husband wrote a note saying we too noisy…then I replied…saying very sori lor & quickly lower our volume!…then he wrote again…thanking us bcos his wife is resting & need to sleep …but the room so very quiet & still?…no sound…so we wondering till now…where’s dear Lily…no answer from her leh…to tell us who’s in that room??

  33. Don’t think I’ve issued any key for 266. It’s not a number that one forgets easily. The only double digit I’ve issued is 255. Could be other hotel guest, or otherwise …….??

  34. Nor, you hv a way of commnicating with folks from hades but if you had been nicer to them you wd hv gotten the tip for 2day’s 4 D draw………yes, 4266 won the first prize !

  35. Had four big mosquito bites on my arms after a few minutes of hanging around the corridor outside the Open House room, just before proceeding to the lobby to check out.

So was worried about getting dengue and was quiet and depressed.

Guess if I have not gotten a fever by now, I should be fine. Phew! Wah, like so melodramatic ya?

  36. Anthony Lee Says: Can we organize a mahjong class for the beginner?

Of course we can n preferably hold it in Room 266 where we can engage extra help abundantly available.

  37. Thank you, Dolly, for seeing me up up le.
I was only trying to bluff my way through, hoping no one would notice that I cannot read Chinese.
Now all the blue blooded Cantonese speaking people know that I was bluffing my way through but they were so gracious; they didn’t call my bluff & embarass me.

Poor Joy,I saw those BIG bite marks. Scary!

    Symptoms of Dengue fever are:
    high fever,severe headache,rashes,muscle & joint pains,nausea, vomiting.

    Smile, dear:) You are safe.

Around midnight(Batam time),I walked back alone to Room 285 which was at the far end. There sounds of insects, howling of the wind, pounding of footsteps, but no spooky things hanging around.

Sorry to spoil your fun but there just weren’t any around that night.
Maybe you’ll have better luck next time.

    Priscilla

  38. Priscilla

Vow, you know the dengue fever more than me. “Li Hi”.

    Joy

Nice to know that you are safe now, otherwise, the Zouk will lose one “Queen” on 28-7-2007

Nice to know you on the Batam trip.

  39. Joy, those who bit you were the humsup male aedes so no worry, you’ll be alright.

Pris, quite true, blue-blooded Cantonese, bad-blooded aedes and you got the right ones admiring you otherwise, heeeee…………..

Know smthg? The creepies in 266 loved yr Dei Lui Fa so much that they thought of abducting you into 266 & made you their Princess Cheong Peng but yr fu ma for that nite Tan Seri Chou Sai Hin was right behind them and tim tim liu their armpits and so got you out of harm’s way………

  40. hahaha, Andrew, now you know, u so “lau ya” le..

Hi Joy, no worry la.. if reli dengue mossies hor, I will kenna 1st 1 la.. cos I make so much noise mah.. disturb them lor.. hehehehehe.. take care…

  41. Tim Liu,

Heard that you a qualify “zhong kui” but wu yong wu zhi di during that your stay there.

Why? So all of you wasted your chance of striking the 1st prize on Wednesday.

  42. Dolly,

Why you said I’m so “lau ya” (lousy)? I’m “lau ya” mah? Only Priscilla know the dengue fever more than me, means I am “lau ya” mah? It is she is “Li Hi” but not I’m so “lau ya”, you know? Very fret up, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…….

  43. Bengson, I more than match zhong kui in looks (so no need to qualify hor) but I dread having his type of beard………….like that, how to kiss you and many more prettier than you?

Yalor, tim had no yong wu zhi di during his stay there.

You his bro, right? If so, let him go to yr house and there he’ll show you that he is wu yi gou jiang and will whack the many kui there into woo kui wang pak.

    Ai mai?

  44. aiyo… sumimasen… Andrew-san, ok lor…
u not ‘lau ya’ lor… I will see how ‘li hi’ u r at next Tuesday gathering…. fret not la… take it ez le…

  45. Tim Liu…U hor..anyhow say i communicate with hades!…hey..are u sure abt 4266 won the 1st prize?…knowing u..joker..I never play 4-D, so never think of it lor…but if its true how come my June,Ah Nee & Anne never thought of it..u see 4 of us next to rm 266..bingo! 4266..alamak…if not can blanja u makan2!…hehehe!

  46. Hi Norlinda,
I’ve checked the singapore pool website, it is true that the no. 4266 came out 1st prize on Wednesday 11/7/07 (Draw no. 2566)..It did link …(4 pax and rm no. 266 ???) so concidence !!

  47. Dear Priscilla

Thanks for the info. I am smiling from ear to ear now.

    Dear Andrew

You are a gem. You remember my name, you are always smiling and you have a sense of humour. I nominate you as the Matchmaker or Administrator whom Terence is looking for. You would be the perfect choice.

    Dear Dolly

On our way back, walking towards the boat, I couldn’t resist telling you that you are CUTE and that you are the life of the party. I can imagine when you were a little girl in Pri 1, you must have sported pigtails and bouncing around and making lots of noise in the classroom.

    Dear Tim

Hmmm…my science aint that bad ya? Only female mosquitoes suck blood. Maybe these are mutated male aedes mozzies from Timbuktu. Hee hee…

  48. Dear Lily

Maybe 266 did belong to SHC because 255 was not the only same two digits room. My very dear bed-mate Veron, room mates Gwyneth and Eliza and I were in 277. It was a peaceful night…

  49. Hi Joy,

Must thanks Lily for allotting the auspicious 277 to us. 4 of us slept very well and had a peaceful nite. Anyway, u r my good bed-mate bcos u did not kick me down and we never pull d blanket from each other.

    veronlee

  50. Hi Joy,
You are right la.. since little girl, oredi vry noisy.. so most of time, kenna written on report book “must keep quiet” lor..guessed never obeyed instruction, dat y stil as noisy even till now lor.. cute hor.. hehehehe

  51. Joy, we hv yet to see the worst of the aedes kind, not from timbuktu but from joykuku, and I am talking abt the gay aedes – happy male & female wrapped into one – which spread not only dengue fever but aids as well. Kill instantly, no time to lie on ICU bed to die.

Yes, 2day tim is in a foul mood and read on at the Bowling 15 July 2007 thread if you want to know why.
