    1. Thank you Hew Lee for accepting the role of EO for the March monthly gathering. I hope more members will follow your footsteps, and volunteer to be one, at least once during the duration of the free membership. Unfortunately, only a few volunteer.

Hi fellow members, the SilverHairsClub monthly gatherings are for you, to come and join so that you can keep in contacts with the friends you have met. If your diary is free, come and join the group. Do not wait until the last minute; and early RSVP makes it easy for the organisers.

For the rest of the year, I won’t be able to attend most of the monthly gatherings, as I will be travelling. However, I encourage you to come.

  1. Hi Hew Lee

Please put me down for the Monthly Meeting!

I’m afraid that other than being able to borrow an iPad from the library, there’s little that the govt can do to help seniors who can’t get further than punching their pin number at the ATM!

  2. #8 & #9 – Barbara, welcome. Kenneth – responding to your comment, I have this to say … Singapore is facing an ageing population. So do other countries like Japan, UK and others. The digital divide made us (the baby boomers) what we are today affects the other generation of the 50s plus differently.

We started our working life using the manual typewriter whereas the 50s plus already using the computer to type their documents. Whether we like it or not, change will come and those not wanting to upgrade will miss out on the joy of retirement (later in life) using the IT devices and gadgets.

I share with you one BBC article I just read, via link

  3. Hi Hew Lee, EO

    Pl count me in. Tks!

Ref Terence’s comments #7 (para 1). True, I tried it once and it was a v good experience and I had a loads of FUN!

    Cheerio…..

  4. In the spirit of SHC, I’ll try to make it, though I finish work at 6.00 pm.

Agree with you Gabriella – doing this is actually helping ourselves also. It’s a learning curve, and we learn what teamwork is all about, be touched by the support and goodwill, and broaden our networking. Though stepping out for the first time as EO can be a ‘lil daunting, you’ll discover that it’s not too bad after all – cos people will come out naturally to give you some boost.

  5. Alamak, seems that Daniel Chan suddenly packing his bag for a holiday trip and asked me to register him for this. Maybe he comes back just in time!

  6. Hi Hew Lee,

Alfred Ang, Judy Lim, Theresa Seow and myself will be there
to support this meeting and fellowship.
    Pls register us.

    Thkyou for organisating.
    Lilian

  7. Hi Hew Lee,

    Thanks!

      1. Hi Hew Lee,

Both Martin Lee and Peter Goh’s membership reapplied and renewed.

        Fellow members,
Please make effort to register yourself personally when participating in activities. Members who email addresses or tel contacts are different from that on our membership list may have their membership lapsed.

  8. #26 – #29: Hello everyone. Thank you for your support. I may not know most of you, but this gathering will give me an opportunity to know all of you better. See you.

  9. Hi Hew Lee

Please count me in for my first monthly gathering.
Hope to catch-up with familiar and meet new faces.

    Thanks for organising.
    Goh

  10. An important topic to discuss is whether SHC can put up a proposal to the Health Minister to liberalise the use of our Medisave account for seniors. It seems to me that govt is just want to continue controlling our MS account as their argument is that MS is for medical expenses after retirement. Most SHCians are past retirement age and yet we have limited access to MS. Under current policies, most retirees will die ‘rich’.

  11. #35 Henry Lim – Any discussion topic that has the $$$ element is a sensitive and serious topic. Some may feel short-changed and some may accept it and move on.

I, as EO for the March Monthly Meeting, am in no position to facilitate this discussion topic.

  12. Hi HenryL,

Please feel free to gather a group, discuss the topic and find a way to present your viewpoints to the relevant govt body. I am sure there are other members who feel just like you do.

If you can get good representation and views from members, why not? I look forward to you leading your proposal.

Please be reminded that you have to be responsible for what you say and write; and that you have the facts to justify your comments. As a SHC member, I am open to you gathering views, collate the suggestions and presenting your proposal to the Health minister.

You can start a new Post for discussion.

    Terence Seah

  13. #37 – Terence – I support the idea. Those who are passionate about any issue should come out and lead a group discussion to brainstorm the idea. Who knows, some good may come out of the discussion.
    #38 – Gabriella – noted, not a problem.
#39 – Yew Tiong – thanks for the support. See you.

  14. Hi Hew Lee

Sorry to occupied your post to talk to Johnny Pow

    Hi Johnny n Annie

You umbrella allowed me romantically “Walking in the rain” to return home. Thanks

Saw you names on the list of tomorrow’s (27) Monthly Meeting. Can I return the umbrella to you on the event, or I keep it and sing the song “When will I see you again” to you every day, haha. Please advise. Thanks

  17. Hi Hew Lee

Thank you for organising the event. It was a pity I had to
leave early for another event and did not get to meet most of the members.

  18. Hi Hew Lee,

Appreciate you taking time to host this Monthly Meet enabling us members to meet and chat. It may take some time for you to remember all our names…

Look forward to meeting you again at other social events & activities too.

    Cheers!

  19. Hi Hew Li
Thank you for the ‘demo’ and your advice. I went home brooding over the limitations of the tablet , then decided to give windows recorder another try. After some trial and error, I managed to upload my track to Soundcloud! All’s well that ends well. lol! :)
