Business project proposal and study

Hi Terence and all ,

In response to your question what is possible in SHC for retirees to continue to be engaged in keeping themselves employed and offer their expertise and experience.

Project Proposal : Supply, Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of Two(2) Weather and Two(2) Air Quality Monitoring Stations in Jambi, Indonesia. Calling Entity National Environment Agency

If there is a company that is willing to finance this project and provide technical expertise, can SHC form a management pool of people to run, co-ordinate the phases from the construction face to the operational phase for 2 years in Indonesia ?

What are your views, consideration and are they people with relevant experience willing to undertake this as a retirement career ?

  1. Hi Ronald,

I am not sure about SHC forming this organisation and running the said projects. What kind of persons who you think would be suitable.

I guess those who are interested can take this up as a new business project. Anyone can ask questions here.

  2. A very interesting subject.

What’s lacking in many start-ups is financing.

If the money is there, and bless it more, the technical expertise is there, management is not too insurmountable a challenge, even considering that Indonesia is home of the project.

Perhaps, RonaldW may like to leak a bit more on this project, such as how much is in the project coffers, what other areas of management, other than human resources I believe, are sought ?

  3. This rather a specialise area and if there are the right people with the right past experience working in Indonesia doing such projects before, and have the commitment and interest it will appeal to them.

I am just asking to see if it so happens there are people in our midst looking for such opportunities and are ready for such ventures. Let us see if it there can be such response. The commitment can be just to accept it as a management job to having invested commitment with higher returns.

  4. Dear Ronald

Good that you can a one/two-page broad outline scope with five key highlights : a) project time-lines, b) technical specifications, c) operations sphere, d) business requirements and e) financial projections.

With above over-view, it will propel and filter genuine interests

  5. Hi Andrew,

I need more answers then question, so I need someone or group with experience and can advise and knows the country well. Someone like Kenneth who knows Chengmai like the back of his hand, enjoys staying there, but also the business aspects.

For more details you can check the Gebitz on this tender, so it is on tight profit margin and only those who really knows what needs to be done and have experience can make a good profit.

  6. Hi Ronald

#4 and #6 are basic TOR scoping for answers and interests.

TOR – terms of reference, otherwise mere blind games.

    Cheers,

  7. Thanks Andrew appreciate your interest but at this time looking for someone like Kenneth.

Someone who can tell me what he wants (his salary and consultation fees) and how to get things done and what it will cost for such a project. Only if this is in ChengMai, he will probably have called me straight away to book for the job.

But if this is Malaysia, I would not even mentioned it here, i will pack my bags and move up there and even take up the shares as well, maybe 5%.

Let us see, if that someone is amongst us , hopefully he is in touch on the internet?

Vincent Khoo ( now retired, in Thailand ) are you reading this ? I think you do have done such work in Brunei but have you done such work in Indonesia ? Keen on this ?

  8. Hi Lina,

Yes u want, u want what ? To be the investor and manager or just to work ? Work do what,to collect the air for measurement, or to cook yam cake? By the way, Indonesian and Malay is different lah, but can try lah, interview first lah.

Sorry lah did not know you have such experience, when you have never work before ?

  9. As I understand it, reading btwn the lines, there’s a financier contemplating to register a company to tender for the Jambi project. If that’s the case, it wont have any track record – a key consideration in any tender submission – to show and will have to heavily rely on a team whose credentials shd add up to be as good as an established bidder’s track record.

What Ronald probably is looking at are these “people” who also know the nooks & corners of Indo (no one knows enough tho).

Starting from scratch, the team will necessarily include people familiar with construction (to set up the infrasctruture) and people who hv a knack in managing difficult people whose dismissal can be quite impossible.

Should Ronald call for a meeting with the financier, I’ll be happy to meet them together with the like-minded.

  10. Hi Lina,

Just want I am looking for, someone with capital, guts to know want he wants and willing to do it. If this is so, i dont mind working for you so also Tim. He can be the operations manager and I will manage the Engineering aspect and you provide the capital, and also the yam cake ok ?

Lina, I know you have the capital, but dont really know whether you are serious or not. Tim, can you tie up her guts and capital with legalities, so that with can proceed at least on the financial aspect, while we start looking for an Indonesian couterpart ? I can then submit in our proposal and bid for the tender.

  11. Ronald, I can do more than tying Lina up with legal strictures…….I can tie her up with turbans and hang her on the coconut tree if she cant cough out the money.

But seriously, if the tender document is out, i wd like to take a look if that’s ok.

  12. All infrastructure projects in Indonesia are BOT or BOO. They have no money to pay. And a weather/air monitoring station has no revenue directly and/or indirectly unlike a telecoms or water project. So it is un-fundable, un-financeable and un-bankable. You cannot start to make a business case even if you are high on crack.

Unless, of course, with extraordinary gentlemen as deal makers under extraordinary circumstances eg

    (a) You have CIA (or similar charities) backing. A weather ballon is not a weather balloon.

    (b) There is a specific foreign fund tender eg UN and its agencies. Check their website.

    (c) You get an exchange in kind eg a license to run an Islamic financial trading centre, control of flea market of central Java, maidens in Bali or property in Jakarta.

OK. We’ll divide the work. Lina underwrites the deal, Ron does engineering, Tim negotiates with James Bond’s “M”, Ter plays Lao Ta to the flea market and I’ll take care of the Bimbos of Bali.

  13. KT Wong – your contract is with NEA Spore, so you will be paid only problem is you will also be sued if you dont deliver.

Tim – your mission has been sent to your email and should you accept it, contact your agent Lina who will provide all the fun(d)s. She was last seen swimming in a bikini at Andrew’s swimming pool on Sat. Check her Yam cake for further instructions. Mission will close on 11 Mar. Cheers

  14. Andrew, Andrew (all posts hereinabove)….

We all must help lost memebers find the Way…

This is SHC. No focus is good focus. No-thought, No-image. The Way is to go with the flow.

Once you think there’s a lot to do, then there is nothng to be done.

    Hee-hee

  15. Hi KT at#15 & #17

That is what the project will be with auxiliary financial/poli/dipl support o/s Indon; otherwise non starter.

    All the best.

  16. KT’s #15 is noteworthy………. & refreshing after Lina’s “I want I want”.

Btw, RonaldW, my agent Lina in geylang doesnt look like SHC Lina unless either one pulls a heavy make-up….or worse, they’re actually 1 & the same : abang kastari in disguise which may very well be the case since he has not been seen/found.

  17. Hi Tim/Ron Wie,

Wah, switched on my lap top and I see my name being mentioned so many times. Wait until I lay my hands on both of you. Am going to wring your necks when I see you both at The Tanamera on Friday. So don’t try to escape.

Ron Wie, what other cakes you like to eat. I can make a lot more than just yam cake. Ha! Ha!

  18. Looking forward to seeing both RonW and Lina squatting at opposite corners of the jasmine room making cakes and then throw at each other. Whoever gives the best hit – a smack on the nose – wins a table at the flea mart and a nite’s stay with me at #12-101 Golden Landmark.

    Start practising……………..

  19. Hi Suzhang,

These boys having a whale of a time putting my name in every single post while I was out. Luckily Ah Nee told me about it and I came back in time to sort them out.

Tim #21, Ron W can spend the night with you at #12-101 Golden Landmark while I get the table at the flea mart. hee..hee..

  20. Hi Tim at #21

Lina is such a cultured and discreet lady.

She would only think of enhancing her communications skills bi-lingually, and share her talents and skills usefully.

If she ever cast, it will be ????(pao zhuan yin yu) – casting a brick to attract a piece of jade at Jasmine Room this Friday, 7 March. ???.

    Cheers,

  21. Hi Andrew,

So is everyone of us, at different stages, is just that sometimes words get in the way and misunderstandings arises.

Lina, let Tim and me eat first before you wring our necks then we can get again whatever you can dish out, like cheese cake, etc.

  22. Ahhh…

Cheese cake. Low hanging business proposal that you can launch next week together with the likes of shephard pies.

We can set aside dessert for SHC food entrepreneurs. You have the market to yourselves.

    Desserts anyone ?

  23. Andrew @#18

Let’s recruit Bush. He’ll be out of job soon. And he can join SHC. If they don’t give us the tender we’ll call them a terrorist organsiation and send in the marines.

At the same time, we’ll ask Bush and friends to pick up Kastari. They do a much better job. No one has escaped from Guantanamo Bay yet. And they can even pick up Saddam from one little hole in the ground somewhere in Iraq.

Every SHC member can then be entitled to a green card. At our current state of property prices here and sub-prime meltdown in USA, we can arbitrage the high price here for the low price there for the same class of assets.

We can trade-in Tampines for San Jose. We can all settle down in California for our retirement, send our kids to Berkeley, get them elected to the next President of USA and get onto US social security. End of all our CPF, upgrading, en-bloc and ERP problems.

Good idea? You are the best man for the job. Call white house….

  24. Ron #16

The tender closes on 11 Mar?!

Who is sitting on it now. Yo, Tim. You have a priority job to do here. Can you pull away from “Kiss & Make up” with Steve-O. Do you need to borrow a ladder?

  25. Lina, i just cant help but to feel sorry for you, that no matter what, you still like to do it on a table…………which really is for corpses – dont believe me, go visit a wet market.

Likewise, my pity to you RonW too for seeing yr serious biz proposal turning into a circus act with cake making taking centre stage.

Finally, KT, for me however slight the whiff may be, if i can sniff out a deal, I’ll look at it and tailor it to a you-win : I-win-more arrangement otherwise, I’d look Lina’s way when she next makes her cake.

  26. Lina, you’re absolutely right and that’s why RonW, KT & I dare aspire only for the office of a pengulu or pengsan cuckoo and not higher……….
