  1. My Dear Gingko

Yalor, such a big frog (or toad) – quite unbelievable hor?

Your pilgrimage more important lah. This is their first Tea-Dance, there could be more in the future. But, they will probably start charging if this one is successfull lor.

  5. Hi Thomas,

Wa, BTH! Three similar comments in a row. (Dolly, see? I am learning your lingo already).

Holy, holly, wholly? I will still be myself, so don’t be disappointed if I return without wearing a veil across my face ;-)

Yes, sure hope to bring back some memorable pix.

You go take your dancing lessons. We can all go jam together…

  6. Hi Lily,

Appreciate your putting up the post for me. My concern is whether it proper to put in the direct contact numbers. Would it have been better if those coming for the Tea Dance should have their names reflected on this post?

Somehow, I also heard a lot of adorable frogs n toads here n there! I think they jumps in on the wrong thread!

    Danz

  7. Hi Dan, Lily,

This post skiped my attention. Direct tel or contacts of external organisation not permitted here. However, if you are attending the event, the Post is acceptable, but the contact should be changed to you. Please remember for future.

And, what a way to call people adorable frogs and toads!

  8. Hi all,

….And, what a way to call people adorable frogs and toads!

Frogs and toads are ugly. How can they be adorable? However,Giant Pandas I saw at Chengdu,China is very adorable, loving and huggable.

How abt calling them adorable and loving PANDAS instead ?

  9. Is it a frog or is it a toad? Let’s trace the history……………

I believe it started with the Canto saying “ng dou yow kum tai jack kap lah tsui kai tiew?”. Translated literally, it means “Where got such a giant kap lah hopping all over the street?”

So what’s a kap lah? Certainly, it’s not a kepala.

Kap lah is a…………………………….yes, a female toad.

History has it that once upon a time, a braggart went around telling folks that the beauty of the province had courted him the moment he was out on the street. Obviously, while indubitably a “beauty” she wasnt quite liked by the people there, thus a kap lah and not a wa lah.

  10. One of the most common questions is, “What is the difference between Frogs and Toads?”

Most are surprised to hear that all Toads actually are Frogs!

TOP TEN REASONS WHY IT’S GREAT TO BE A FROG

    10. Babes are always kissing you because they think you’ll turn into a prince.
    9. Flies in your soup are a bonus.
    8. You’re above toads on the food chain.
    7. Green goes with absolutely everything!
    6. Pond Scum is a term of endearment.
    5. Most restaurants have a “no croaking” section.
    4. Amphibians are at a minimum risk of appearing on Geraldo.
    3. You can scratch hard to reach places with your tongue.
    2. You can donate your body to science for big bucks!
    1. It sure beats being a newt.

  11. Ok, sorry Terence. Post edited. Instead of direct contact, it’s now : “Please register here.”

As I can only be there around 1.30pm earliest, Dan will you be the co-ordinator?

Those who are going to Changi Beach Club with Terence, can come afterwards right?

  12. Hi Lily,

Okay, will help with the co-ordination!

I will be at Changi Beach Club too on that Sunday. Reckon it may be to late to rush over.

  13. Patrick Yeo,
Hee hee. I like your top ten reasons why it’s great to be a frog.
But I have to say that toads are not frogs. They are both amphibians but they are different biologically in several ways.
If I had to, I’d rather kiss a frog than a toad. It’s not very flattering to refer to someone as a toad although being likened to a frog isn’t exactly a compliment either. ;-)
On the other hand, children’s perception of the “qing wah”, which is a frog, not a toad,is that it’s cute and adorable.

  14. Alamak Mary Chan

“I might come….”. Apa ini? Come lah. You can alway tongpang Dan’s car wat. Even if it’s just to look-see lor.

I suspect Safra is going to conduct dance lessons at the same venue and the show is most likely going to be performed by the dance instructors and/or their senior students. Free show and free makan. And if you don’t enjoy, you can alway leave. So, why not?

  15. Lily,
ok lor. I will ask Dan for a lift then. Thanks for persuading me, hehe.
I’ll see if I can ‘drag’ the others along too. Like you said, just to look-see.
    See ya.

  16. Hi all,

Who is this famous SHC celebrity that utters these words ?

” My cooking tastes Excellent with FROZEN meat”, Really ? Age- unknown ,living in Pasir Ris,appears in an advertisement in free Today Newspps , Thursday
(15 May 08 ), huge A4 life size of her smiling broadly.

WongKT,t his time no need to buy the poster, just cut out from Today’s newspp and paste it outside Scorebods.

Like that it will invite more customers into
Score bods restaurant. Madamoiselle XX , made sure KT pays for royalty.

  17. All must cum (Correctly, it shd be All must go). Why? Cos they hv lined up all kinds of dancers…….northern & southern lions for the lion danz, the samba bellyhops from brazil, Paris’ crazy mares, the tau sar pau ah peks and the humchimpan gfs…..even the zoo is sending ah meng’s grandchildren over for some fun so how can anyone miss a danz day of this proportion?

  18. Steven, you missed the point. It’s home that you cum; it’s another’s party that you go. If you get it wrong then the danger is, you become cum cum chang………..

  19. Hi Jane,

I am very glad that you are joining in the fun. With you around, there should be more guys cuming and cum cum chang…..heehee.

    Lina Ng & John Howe,

I’ve included you in the list as per our discussion tonight.

  20. Hi Tim Kor, ( sounds in Cantonese like the adorable sweet brother panda )

You Cum Cum Chang for the Pretty Dollies. Better for you to cum cum chang than to hear tong tong charn.

  21. Dear Lily,

since the event end ard 6pm…. maybe can plan some other activity after that … or we can continue dancing/singing there … what say u ha?

Dolly, since u gg to join us in the later part . give some suggestion lor

  22. Steven, the day tim tim liu tong tong charn, it’s the start of 100 days that you wear black (that’s easy), cannot laugh (easy too) and go no where but kneel at my altar & chant (not so easy, yeah?)

  23. Hi Lily,

Thanks for the update. Can’t promise Mary a lift from Changi beach Club though!

Just got back driving from Ipoh, Cameron Highlands n Malacca in three cars.

Coming Sunday will be pretty hectic! 9.00-12.00noon, swimming with Terence. 11.30-1.30pm, badminton. 12.00-6.00 Tea Dance. I am going to ‘pengsan’!

Dear dancers, put your names here if you are coming!

    Danz

  24. Dan,
It’s ok. You go ahead with your hectic schedule, ;-). I will see if I can get a lift. If not, then, too bad. I will have to miss the tea dance.

  25. Dan, correction.
Charles Chua, Clara Chay, Zariah and Mary Chan.
We were disappointed to find no other SHCians there except for Ron and Alice. Besides, there was no food at all, not that we were there for the food. We had already had our lunch.

  26. Dear Mary Chan,

Too bad you are disappointed. But I don’t see why I should be there early just in case some SHCians decide to drop in. I will do my utmost to be there on time if I know for sure you are going. But, since no one confirmed going other than Jane & Dolly …. then I only have to inform them and be there at a time to my convenience. That’s what registrations are for.

As for the food, they came in batches. Even though we went there late, we got to taste their sandwiches, curry puffs, fried wanton and fish balls. The food is not great but they do disappear as soon as they are being placed on the table.
