TreeTop Macritchie Walk

Date- Saturday 8th Nov 2008
Time- 4 pm ( please note we are starting earlier than usual, please be on time)
Meeting Place – Bus stop near Junction of Venus Drive(opposite FlameTree Condo) & Upper Thomson Road
Disembark   at the  bus stop  after Thomson Plaza if you are going north towards Sembawang . The bus stop is located immediately after the junction traffic light and  on same side as Venus Drive.

Buses – #132, 163(toapayoh interchange), 165, 166(AMK interchange), 167, 410( bishan interchange), 855(yishun interchange), 855, 980.
For those driving,  please leave your vehicle  at the large open air car park at  Venus Drive.  Free parking there.

We will begin our walk from Venus Drive and continue a short distance along Island Country Club road before linking up with the forest trail leading us to Ranger Station, our first rest & toilet point. From there we will continue walking the trail for a while, then climb a short steep road to the hilltop, cross the TreeTop bridge single file, enjoy the height & scenery before descending to a long boardwalk leading to Petaling Hut enroute to our starting point .
The whole journey takes about 2.45 hours , including a short rest.
Unlike the previous pipeline walk, there are no major obstacles to overcome , no drains to jump across , no fence to climb nor slippery slopes or muddy or soft wet grounds to cross. So don’t worry but must remember to bring your umbrella or poncho as the weather is unpredictable during this period of the year,
After the walk, food is readily available , a couple of bus stops away along Sin Ming/Upper Thomson Road.

This is the last walk for this year, so we hope to see many of you  there.

  1. Hi EOs

Thank you for organising he walk. I would certainly like to come. However, as a ‘mountain tortise’, I really do not know how to go to the meeting place by bus.

It would be good if you can let me know what buses go to this meeting place,

Another request is that if I can get a contact number so that in case me the blur king gets lost can get some directions by phone.

    Thank you.

  2. Hi Charles,

I always looking forward to SHC Walk & Cycling. Too bad, next month, no Walk but luckily got party…. ya ya, its yr-end. Got to let our hairs down n go boogie boogie.

    See u!

  3. Mary, thanks for participation. Have fun. Bring along a colourful umbrella so all of us won’t miss you lah!

King Seng, i have listed the buses to the location. See above. thanks. Does not matter which direction you are coming from, just remember to get down at any bus stop nearest to the junction. All within walking distance.

JenniferWee, alamat! there are more peranakans in SHC than you could imagine. My late mum wears sarong kebaya and beaded shoes but does not chew betel nuts.

  4. Hi Charles

Thank you for the very detail guide. I think I should be able to find my way there.

If not I still have your handphone number, If I need further help.

    Regards

  5. Charles Wee,
I will definitely have my brolly with me, rain or shine, a red one. So you won’t miss seeing me.
See you Saturday the 8th, if I don’t get lost.

  6. Hi Florence, Charles,

I believe it’s great to have the contact no. of 1 or 2 EOs
    in the post.
During last month walk, I was lost on the way to the Turf
Club. Even the bus captain directed me to 2 bus stops away
from the venue. I tried contacting 1 of the walkists in the
group but unfortunately she’s not there too. In the end, I
didn’t know which direction the group took, so end up with
my walk at the turf club premises.

Appreciate EO for any event can leave a contact.

  7. Hi Charles and EOs

I am sorry that due to something happened, I am not able to join in the walk much against my wish and with much regret.

    Have an enjoyable walk.

    King Seng
