NAME TAG ANYONE????

Hi all SHCians’,

Just wanna say a big THANK YOU to you all for making me so welcome today at the SHC Monthly Gathering.  Initially I was so worried like how to ‘gel’ myself in but thanks to Alice Seah, then Lee, then Kim then ‘Pao Kung’ then one after another, wow! I am certainly amazed how the group can just get to know each other so smoothly.

I indeed had a great time today and am looking forward to another gathering soon.  A confession to make was that I did not bring along my name tag as I thought I would just wait for a blank sticker to write on, we had, but, kinda abit small la….so I asked Terence if I could make one for myself and was told that I could, thanks to Terence……SO, I am in the midst of designing one for myself…anyone need help??? I can do up something for you all…..you can let me know what is your preferred theme , eg. if you are a sporty person, then I can design something link to sports, or if you are a $$$$ person, then I can link it with a BIG DOLLAR NOTE on it, and etc etc etc la….You all very smart people, so would know what I am trying to tell you……ok???

Thanks and regards,

Anne Chua

  1. Anne-C, if after half a day you still find no biz and still swatting flies, then you can make a tag for me. Very simple design : a monkey, a tree and a rope. Pls ensure that the monkey stands before the tree and not the tree before the monkey…………..

  2. See I told you that it is easy to remember my name.
No business? well you can make one 4 me and another 4 ‘pau ma’ er I mean Peggy Kong. Theme? oh white face and maybe star, don’t do the black face and half moon character. ha ha.
    Cheers – Paul

  3. Hi Ann Chua,
Hey thanks for picking up the job where i’ve left off.At least im relieved that someone is injecting new ideas into the designing of the name tags and not let it die a natural death.BTW Terence had purchased hundreds of plastic holders and I was told that they r with him so you dont need to buy them, utilise them..thank goodness they r now put to good use.I’ve made one for Pat Chan already (by special request from him yesterday)
so i need 1 plastic holder for his name when I meet you at the next SHC meeting.
God bless you for yr timely intervention.

  4. Hi Grace,

Okay note the supplies…but then hor, how and where do I collect them please? Once collected, do I keep them or how how how ah….Grace, as for the designing of the tags, mine is not very wonderful…just a bit of cut here and paste there, heh, but boy! Am I glad, I have got three wonderful customers, Pao Kung wants a star and I guess if I include Pao Ma, it would be ‘Twin Star’ la.. Tim Liu, there are no flies for me to swat lei cos today was a rainy day, guess they must have gone a hiding in the tree and perhaps that must be the tree that you want to post that monkey in front. By the way, Tim Liu, you heard of mischievious monkey, and you want a monkey to stand before the tree…sigh! Thought monkey swing….times has changed…Pao Kong change logo to ‘star’ Monkey stand and not swing…aiyo…..

  5. Cheer not Anne-C, for the irrepressible flies were lured by the aedes voluptuous to the bushes of not hua shang but hua ba shang to learn the 18th level of dengue, the highest in destruction so better be prepared at yr shop.

My monyet butties are knocking on the window. They’re not abt to sleep so will join them for some monkeying…………….ciao.

  6. Hi Ann Chua,

So nice of you to offer your designer name tag making for everyone.

Your first order from Tim looks simple enough; a ‘monkey, a tree and a rope’. His specification was for the monkey to stand ‘before the tree and not the tree before the monkey’.

Tim, I think in this century old coconut plucking ‘technology’ the slave master should be standing ‘before the tree (holding the rope) while the monkey is up in the tree (plucking) and looking down at another monkey – wondering who’s the smarter one.

Hehe, Ann, that should be your design draft.

Hello Grace Wong – many thanks for making an instant name tag for me, so fast after my special request. Much appreciated.

Tim, when yours is ready we can compare, huh.?

    Cheers, Pat Chan

  7. To my two lovely gentlemen!

Chiem lei! I die already la. All your words has confused me so, I think I would rather be the monkey, hang myself with the rope up on the tree….eeeee…..

  8. Well, Anne and Pat of the Ch clan, in this recession it’s not enough to be prepared but also be reminded to prepare. So for me, what better reminder than a monkey, rope and tree in my name tag ?

See, as much as you dont put the cart before the horse, the monkey has to be infront to lead and take the tree, using the rope, to where the pain of recession is lesser.

Illegal logging, land clearing in a scorch-earth action….all these will soon make the monkey homeless so better for him to grab a tree now than to rent a 1-root tree from the hdb later.

Nice of Pat-C to suggest a coconut tree. Yes, other than making it my mobile home, the tree will have to provide me with food as well. Of cos a banana tree heavy with pisang and also growing shapely & juicy papayas with 2 rambutans beckoning from below will be god-sent.

And finally if by the time there’s only 1 fruit left but still no sign of an economic recovery, it’s high time to use the rope.

Obviously, you two, being my chosen butties, can join me for the last meal together before we hang ourselves. If you like to do things in the orderly fashion, as the host, I will be the last to hang………..

So Anne-C, when do we get our tags?

  9. Hi Anne,
Maybe you could call Terence on his mobile or alternatively log into the website .He is always on the move .At present i heard he is in Mumbai now..but never fear he is tracking all SHC movements/writings etc wherever he is… on his tracking devices..u know like ‘BIG BROTHER’IN SPY STORIES!!hee!hee!
Patrick, no problem at all.I’ve already made the tags for the above mentioned names sometime ago…but perhaps typical of human nature, they want a variety to compare as variety is the spice of life?? Way to go Anne.
    Have a nice day!

  10. Hi Anne,

It is very nice of you to offer making name tags for our new members. I have the plastic holders, so if you can print the card, and insert them into the holder, this will be excellent. And, then you turn up at the monthly gatherings.

In our typical style, the card need not be formal, just got to make sure the name is BIG and READABLE. So, you can now start asking SHCians if they need a name tag, and they can then receive it at the monthly gathering. If not, the name needs to be written on a sticky label.

    Have fun.

  11. Hello Tim Liu….your tag hor…should be ready by this Sunday, that is if you are at the bowling alley…sorry didn’t reply you earlier as I was searching for a monkey…
Terrence, may I know where can I collect the holders? You coming by this Sunday??

    Regards,

    Anne Chua

  12. Thank you Anne-C, I will be at the bowling alley come Sunday. In return for the exquisite name tag (for which you must have combed the many jungles in spore to look for that elusive monkey) I will give you a bowl………..so who can say there’s no return for a woman’s sacrifice?

I dont think Sengh can make it. He’s busy setting up shop for his date biz….still in 2 minds whether to sell date tea or dating. Whichever, he knows he will have to do his biz differently and provide entertainment……Sengh is busy learnig pole & bar-top dancing………yes, he’s dancing on a bar-top, swinging his pole like sumokong, guaranteed entertaining……………

  13. Hi Tim,

Thank you for offering me a ‘bowl’ just timely when times are bad now, the bowl just right for me to earn my living or what?? Anyway, please do not expect a nice piece of your name tag coz ‘orh ho kuai, tang ni ko wah’, Very simple design : a monkey, a tree and a rope. Pls ensure that the monkey stands before the tree and not the tree before the monkey…………..that was what I did…haha….

    Regards,

    AnneC
