  4. Wei wei Huat3 & those going to JB…..

I went to JB 4 days ago on a Sat morning around 8.00 am. The causeway was terribly JAM, “kenah” stuck for 1 1/2 hrs before entering JB, guess it’s due to weekend and school holidays. Coming back to Singapore in the evening around 9.00 pm also a hassle, clearing at the CUSTOM verrrrry….slow. Parking at the 3 major shopping centre & Supermarket (Giant, Jusco & Tesco) also got problem, have to wait for a while (10 – 15 mins) before a parking lot is available.

I think it’s the exchange rate S$/M.Ringgit that attracts many Singaporean to do the 3M there. Now the rate for $1 is about MR 2.435 as compared to JB, the rate is MR 2.41. So it will be better to change your Ringgit in S’pore, you get more Ringgit.

For your info, most items on offer at Giant supermart are very short time frame, about 5-6 months due to expire. Better deal is at Tesco shopping centre, fresh & prices are cheaper. Since I went to JB not long ago, I will give this trip a miss, but Huat3, please put me on your 2nd trip list if you are organising again. To all, enjoy your makan2…Massage…marketing…..

  5. oh ya, about the new ruling on Petrol, only allow 20 litres on the way back to Singapore. At the JB Petrol Kiosk, the Kiosk attendant will asked you to pay for 20 litres of Petrol at the office counter first. After that, then pump petrol, if your car cannot consume the 20 litres, it will then refund you the balance $$$…..very “susah” mana ada system????

    Ah Nee

  6. Hi Sam Huat3,

Thank you Huat3 for organising this trip for M3 on Jan 3.

Pls include James Tan and me in this trip. We will be passengers. We will just follow lor.

    Thank you.
    susan tan

  7. Ah Huat..
Your timing so ngam with mine!aiya, apa macam mahu ikut ah?..my family & frens will be going up also that weekend from 31Dec-3Jan.

    AhNee..
You are rite on the heavy traffic flow, not only bcos of school holidays, its always like that on weekends at Woodlands checkpoint..such hassle!..some more the road v winding up & downhill..so hot!..before u reach the otherside..ppl with migrane will pengsan!,kesian!…haha!
But not so at Tuas lei? & is there such petrol ruling?..we always suka2 pump how many litres also they don care..no such problem?..hhhmm..

Ok lah Ah Huat, next time u organise a weekday trip..must wait for your Dolly to come back for home leave, then we 3M,can even overnite at ‘secret’ getaway place..hehe

To all going…have a fun & great outing!

  8. Hi All,
Seems like those registered are all passengers only leh, while waiting for car drivers to come forward, kindly note that we will based on first registered if we hv limited cars.

Frisna, Sam is right, we organise this trip is solely meant for SHC members only hence, we did not encourage non members to tag along so as not to deprive others this chance. Hence, your BF is not included as I will assumed that he is not a member for now till further advised.

And Sam is absolutely correct to say dat he will get a whack from ET, I supp dat was meant for me cos I definitely will do that if he will to set precedence in this case.

    Cheers.. Dolly

  9. i am pretty sure going in on sunday morning will be a easy cruise thru custom and checkpoint but you should be mentally prepared for evening, after 4pm the jam starts and especially when 4 jan is the beginning of new year school term etc., have fun you guys

  10. Hello Sam

Sorry due to some unforeseen circumstances, I have to
    withdraw from this trip.

Wishing you all an enjoyable and fruitful trip.

    Cheerios
    Myra

  11. Hi Ah Huat Sam,

After think, think hor, I think I won’t join you this round. Perhaps another day after. Sunday’s family day and……anyhow, enjoy your 3Ms with the rest. :)

    Cheers,
    Suzhang

  12. YK #28, ha ha ha,

Where to find 36 doors nowadays.I remember in the 60’s we have to hold our breath when the 36 doors passes by..

Now the most doors are the ‘MPV’

  13. Sam,

Your post really generated lots of enthusiastic responses.
Since so many are non-drivers, how about chartering a bus?
That way, you can increase the no. of participants as well.
Also, drivers don’t have to worry about coordinating with
each other, cars got vandalised or even stolen.

    Cheers,
    james

  14. Lily..
Lorry!..that’s great idea!..but hor..the poor driver sure cannot concerntrate, bcos there’ll be lots of rowdiness & noisy group goyang2,make him mabok la..how?..haha

  15. Hi Huat Huat

I want to go too, okay?

Have two cars but no steering wheel. Uh…. cars as in legs in Hokkien. Sori don’t mean to joke when I am giving you more headache. Go by bus can do for me too.

  16. Hi Sam,

Agree with James, that since there is good response and that there are insufficient cars, we should get a coach.
    You can count us in.

    Richard & Jane

  17. Hi Dolly
I’m quite surprised to read your comments abt my BF today. i’d say your assumption is wrong. you should have checked with me first (like what sam did) before putting such comments on shc public forum. you know i’ve been attending every monthly meeting since i joined shc in may 09, so you should assume that i know the rules & regulation. yes, my BF is a member of shc.

MERRY X’MAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU & the loved ones!

  18. Hi Sam,

I like to join in as a passenger if you can get a coach….

btw what is your maximum intake for this trip huh…

From your header you have indicated 4 cars x 4 passengers = 16 pax….now you are way beyond the required no. of passengers leh haha

I’m trying to get drivers to join in and once they agreed will have to be SHC members tio bo?

    cheers,
    anne

  19. Frisna

As a regular you should know that for certain EC events, SHCians are allowed to bring outsiders and that no name is to be mentioned on the forum for these non-members.

Therefore, your : “….. but might bring a boy friend (no car too) ok?”

Anyone would assumed a question like this (with no name given) to mean that this BF you intend to bring, is a non-SHC member. Dolly merely reminded you that this is strictly a SHCian event.

All you need do, is simply clarify that he is a member and to provide his name. We know practically all old members’ name, and for new members, there is a system in place to alert on any name that is not registered or newly registered.

The uniqueness of this club is this forum. This cyberspace is where we do most of the communication with each other.

So, why should anyone expects to be consulted first yet not be the first to consult?

  20. Paiseh paiseh. Daisy, bo time 2 update lor.. But sad 2 say, this event will be postponed liao 2 further notice due 2 lack of car driver :(

Richard & James, if u r game for coach/bus, you can take over frm here as I hv no good bargain contact for coaches/buses.

    Cheers.. Sam Huat Huat Huat

  21. Sam no need to paiseh but I can’t help but notice names of people who register after me appearing on the list while mine is missing.

Policewoman Lily Ho Willocq, any infringement of rules here?

  22. Hi Sam #42,

Your original plan to go to JB was by car, together with other drivers. Unfortunately, there are no other drivers. I support your canceling this event. If, in future, there is a coach tour, then maybe this trip can be revitalised.

    Terence Seah

  23. Hi Sam Goh HHH , others,

Nothing to be paiseh abt. It is NOT yr fault.
We had many cars but no willing drivers to JB.

Could it be JB is now so crime prone that Sporeans are avoiding it ? Park yr car in shopping mall and find it disappeared after 2 hrs. of shopping. Shocking isn’t it! :(

To save $$$ and also to avoid all the hassle to book a mini-van or coach which could be quite expansive may I suggest those who are interested to go:-

Pls. wait at the Kranji bus stop just outside Kranji MRT stn. at say 2.30 pm and then we can take the Causeway or SBS transit link direct to JB custom and still do the 3M within City Square vicinity.

Traditional oil Massage with reputable masseurs with good ambience in City Sq shopping complex as good as Banyan Tree @ MR89( S$36.50)for 1.5h of pampered aromatherapy or those not keen to massage to do shopping or go for the movies inside City Sq and we meet again at groundfloor outside Starbucks Coffee at say 7pm to walk to the Meldrum Drive near Jln. Wong Ah Fook for the food stalls that sells viz:- Kambing soup,Hokkien Mee, Penang Laksa, BBQ stingray/pomfret , oat coated big prawns etc…( 100 over stalls ).

With the money saved from hiring a mini van or coach , we can have a grand feast at 1/2 of Spore price for all food items. :)

    So are you game?
    Any comments pls?

  24. “…….Massage with reputable masseurs ………..
Any comments pls?”. After half a day still no comments from anyone, ok, I pun chant you, i comment lah.

How to consider a masseur as reputable? If she rubs well? Or blows well? They go by names like anna, sarah or papaya but none of these names has made it to the billboard so I dont know yr basis for their earning a reputation?

I was recently in Panyu. 100 minutes of massage – clean, open, no hanky panky and certainly no need to handle panties – cost an affordable 70 yuan (S$14). (Yes, this is the true meaning of “affordability”, not some other definitions used by hdb, pub or by some abc to make you angry).

So when I saw 10 yuan for hair wash & blow dry, I walked in. After doing a good job, she asked, wanna a massage for 30 yuan which workeed out to 10 cents a minute. Why not even if she were to turn my head 180 deg?

She switched off all lights, leaving a candle burning. Very eerie, very unromanttic. I wasnt stripped; she started to and so I protested………I wasnt prepared to rrub her for an hour for 60 yuan, way below my hourly rate.

Anyhow, I left immediately but not before paying 40 yuan, all in. On the way out, I noted this signage and it said “Bu Kwi Lu” (Road of No Return). I did return, heng ah.

So, Steven-C, your S$36.50 shd give you more value for money in Panyu and if the masseurs like you enough, they might offer you basic training whgich means you get to run and be rubbed for free, and so start the Year 2010 bright………….. Definitely not a blighter’s dream.

  25. halo t all memebers ,

due to lack of drivers , as such this 3m will be called off… & it will be k.i.v till further notice ….

    i , also 1 2 thnks all your support & wishing all of u

a beta 2010 more good years to come.

    sam huat huat huat

  26. Hi Steven @# 45,

Regarding going to JB (City Sq.), appreciate if u could provide answers to these questions so that my friend and I would not be caught unprepared:

    1. What is the fare for the ride to JB customs on the Causeway or Transit Link ? Can we use our ez link card to pay?

    2. What is the frequency of this bus service?

    3. Need to fill up an immigration card for entry into Johore?

Join us? Tues 2/2. You can go for the traditional oil massage while we go look for the herbal chicken and CNY goodies. :)

    My e-mail: kdaae2005@hotmail.com

    TQ

  27. Let me answer on behalf Steven Chan.

    (1) I do not known exactly the fare. I normally use ez link card to pay therefore only use service no: 170, 170X, 160 from Kranji MRT or service 950 from Woodlands MRT.
    (2) For bus services at Kranji MRT normally there is almost one bus every 2 to 5 minutes.
    (3) You need to fill up the immigration card.

  28. Hi Jassmine Teo,

Thanks Steven N for answering on my behalf. I will answer those that had been left out by him.

I had been to JB more than 100 over times during my 28 yrs. of teaching career. At least 1 month for the pampered aromatherapy massage to
de stress and I feel JB is quite safe if you are alert and don’t walk those dark lanes and wear expensive jewellery.

The Causeway link is abt 2MR. You cannot use yr EZ Transit Link to beep beep ! but no problem if u r taking SBS transit link.

After the Immigration and Customs, you had to walk a LONG U turn to Bandar Raya ( to City Square) unless you’re going to Larkin Bus Terminal you walk straight ahead and down to Platform 2.

    Traditional oil massage again ?
NOT so soon as I had twice been to Sentral, K.L.within last week to the
BLIND men masseurs oil aromatherapy. And they are professionally trained by their partially blind man boss .. They are skilful with their sense of touch. And I am feeling deeply relaxed now.

Perhaps some other time, I will join you.

Have a good and safe trip with yr friend during this pre- CNY season.
Remember don’t flash yr ROLEX watches and jewelleries around.
Your hand will be chopped off by the parang wielding / knife robbers.

    Have FUN!

  29. I had tried many of the the best brand Massage Reflexology chairs end up I did not buy any of them.

The reason was when it comes to body massage nothing beats the HUMAN hands as the hands are more versatile and flexible and with a humane touch than the robotic metallic parts that simulate the massaging movements with vibrations and squeezing movements. Ai yak! ….Sakit. Adoh! :(

My personal opinion but you can beg to differ.

  30. Hi Steven N and Steven C,

Thank you both for the very useful info provided, esp the bus nos and the direction to City Sq from JB customs. It makes me feel less like “Ah Ngau choot sang”! :)

StevenC – can I confirm the way to Bandar Raya: After JB customs, TAKE the long U turn to Bandar Raya. DON’T TAKE the straight way which leads to Larkin Bus Terminal. Correct?

Thanks also for your advisory on personal safety. Will try to blend in with the crowd.

    Cheers,

  31. HI Jassmine Teo / others,

Yes. Look out for the signs overhead as directional signs are not too clear esp. this is yr 1st.time to the new Immigresen JB Hqrs. Many tourists were caught unaware when it was newly opened and everyone was fuming with anger. :{ and there was no ambassadors/ -dresses to guide the tourists at that time.

    To make matters worse :- So poor thing . Budget constrain ??? Couldn’t they afford to change to another new marker pen to write clearly esp, this is an area where there is a high volume of tourists and locals that passes in and out daily. :{

It was obvious they were be some hiccups in any new establishment but they did not forsee the problems.

After many complaints of signs of frustratn n feedback from tourists, now it has improved . I too have to detour and make a looong walk backwards as the architects who designs that building thinks only of ” spatial beauty ” but not practical in reality. However, it is really beautiful esp. when it is lighted with neon lights at night. Some of the the Immigratn off duty officers whom I spoke to also voice their frustrn as they are even worse as they have to walk here more often daily . Apa jadi ? Malaysia Boleh!

You will expect to walk a LONG U turn and turn out to JB town centre where there is a pedestrian bridge that links to 2nd. floor of City Square and vice versa.

So Jassmine , take this looong U turn as yr walking exercise and happy shopping lah . He! he! :)
