  1. So there is a van to take passengers to Samui via stop at SuratThani? Accommodation? We just book the air-ticket and the rest will be arranged by Sompho? Price? Hope you can provide more details, tks. No werewolves right?! haha!

  2. Anna-S, pending Terence’s confirmation, these may very well be the answers to your queries :-

    1. So there is a van to take passengers to Samui via stop at SuratThani?

Yes, a very big van with 36 windows, that kind that
was a welcome sight in the 1960s and earlier.

    2. Accommodation?

You can stay in the van at no extra cost. Of cos, you can also bring a straw mat to sleep on in the open. You can draw boxes on yr mat and charge those without any mat at hourly rate for a box space to sleep. Higher rate for boxes closer to you.

3 We just book the air-ticket and the rest will be arranged by Sompho?

Yes. He will also arrange massage. You hv a choice whether to receive or give the massage. Or both. Very democratic.

    4 Price?

No matter. But the obvious difference is, you can earn a lot as the masseuse, or pay a lot as the customer..

    5. No werewolves right?

You want? Werewolves too can be arranged. Male, female and bi-ones. Dancing with werewolves is fun. Many SHCians wd hv graduated from Daniel-O’s danz classes by then.

  3. Hi TimL #2,
Now, I don’t have to give any clarification. You have done it all.

    Hi AnnaS #1,
Just thought the dates are off-peak and the fares are low, so decide to go Phuket and Pa-Ngan. Since I get a local guide, I thought maybe why not.

Van, yes. Hotel, still looking, but wont be 4-5 stars. Sure, two in one. Food, simple. Eat where we stop. Also, a nice drive between the Andaman and the gulf. There will be ferry ride. Likely wont be sleeping at Pa-Ngan, as everybody will be staring at the full moon, among the coconut trees. Everybody can get drunk after midnight.

Bring suntan lotion. And, something to wrap around.

Trying also to find the biggest flower in the world. It’s in one of the National Parks. Great scenery. Bring your own camera, so that you can get someone to take you.

    Why do you want werewolves?

    Terence Seah

  4. Haha, Judy-T, you boarded the wrong bus lah.

The 6/2/11 bus take you to eat. This 17/3/11 van with 36 windows takes you away from Spore for sightseeing and the chance to massage werewolves and lie on Anna-S’ mat, next to her.

Tentatively, I will be on the plane to Phuket and put a cat in my pocket.

  5. Hi,

I have checked briefly and the cheapest fare for budget airlines (leaving on 17/3 n returning 22/3) are as follows:

    Tiger Air ($165.11)
    Air Asia ($122.00)
    Jetstar ($138.00)

    All without check-in luggage

Just wondering will all be travelling on the same flight. Thanks.

    Janie

  6. Wow, Janie-L, you really meant business. For that, you will hv the first dance with a werewolf or a coloured wolf.

Seriously, it’s good to travel in the same flight so that everyone will be together and touch down at the same time.

Over to you Ter, to confirm the pick-up time. whether it’s from the airport to the hotel straightaway or join the red shirts-no pants for a march down patpong and then kopi?

  7. Hi Tim, Janie,

From previous trips, I think it is wise to choose your own flights.

We havent selected the hotel yet, but it will likely be on the beach. Groups of 3 or 4 can come together and take a taxi to the hotel.

I plan to take a morning flight. Janie, if you recommend a flight, I am sure tim and myself will join you and go to the hotel together.

    Terence Seah

  8. Hi guys!

Phuket is on the west (Andaman) coast and Samui (Phangan) is on the east. Be prepared for a great deal of travelling within the short six days. If you arrive in Phuket, it will take about five hours to reach Surat Thani. From there you can take the ferry to Ko Samui or Phangan, about an hour plus excluding waiting time.

Unfortunately there is no easy, direct way to Ko Samui except by Bangkok Air which charges “an arm and a leg” because they own the Samui airport.

I used to travel to Hatyai (now you can fly direct by budget) and take the gruelling minibus ride to Samui (seven hours including ferry).

Full moon party is a largely “farang” (white foreigner) thing. Drugs and booze are common. There is also a Black moon party now.

Anyway, I miss the attraction and laid-back charm of Samui, having not been there for many years. Now, at least for me, the quieter places are better to chill out in.

I know you guys will be in good hands with Sompho and Terence as your guides.

  9. Hi…

    Jetstar ($159.95) – leaving by Airbus A320 at 1000 and arriving 1245. Returning on 22 Mar at 0835 n arrivng 0920.

    Air Asia ($122.00) – leaving at 1305 n arriving 1345. Returning on 22 Mar at 0950 n arriving 1235.

If arriving at noon is ok…I would recommend Air Asia. Thanks.

    Janie

  10. Hi Janie #10,

I am ok with AirAsia 1305 hrs flight. For the price, this is one of the best times to go to Phuket.

    Tim, what about you?

    Terence Seah

  11. “Janie, I am sure tim and myself will join you and go to the hotel together”.

Sure, Terence. After that, you and i will have to draw lots. Dont rig it. Dont cheat.

I am fine with Air Asia.

While I am almost sure of going on this trip (and would even ask you to book the flight for me – will pay you when I next see you, anytime) it is important to give an estimate of the ‘compulsory” costs (e.g. accommodation, transport) spanning over these 6 days to help SHCians(esp those holding full time jobs) to make an informed decision.

Kenneth-T, thanks for filling us in with the geography. Now I know that Phuket and Pa-Ngan are both in Thailand. Was previously under the impression that Pa-Ngan is the sister city to Pyonyang in North Korea.

Time spent on the road wont be an issue for me. Will get to sight=see as well as possibly stopping along the way to say hello and blend in with the rural folks.

Drugs? Nice if I can get addicted at my age.

Farangs and their full moon parties? Will leave them alone unless Terence asks me to help fling them to the moon to accompany the lonely woodcutter.

  12. Terence, Kenneth,

I really cherished the 10 days of wonderful stay in Mae Hong
San and Chiangmai. It brought back many sweet memories of
the beautiful places we visited and the gorgeous company
for the 17 of us during our trip in 2008.

This time, I wish I could relive the experience in Phuket/
Koh Samui/Pa-Ngan. However, due to leave issue, I may be
not able to make this trip.

Nevertheless, I wish all a very exciting and adventurous
journey and I know that it will happen in the hands of
    Terence and Sompho.

    rgds,
    james

  13. Hi JamesT,
Glad you remembered the Chiangmai trip. We shall keep this trip as local as possible too.

Hi, and for those thinking of coming, gee, this trip is going to cost like this:

    1. accommodation, likely to cost $20 a night per pax.
    2. the van, likely to cost $100 per day, less the oil. We are planning for a one-way journey from Phuket to Samui.
    3. the ferry to bring the van over to Samui, must be a huge ferry, and then a speed boat from samui to Pa-Ngan beach. We may sleep overnight on the beach, if you desire. Others may stay in a room. We keep this option open. Same for the return journey.
    4. Food, all local. Not too sure how expensive it will be; but if the locals can afford it, I guess we can. My good guess will be less than $10-15 a day. Guess, we can have rice, eggs, vegetables, tom yam, chillis, etc, all done local style. Maybe we will spend less than that. Beers might be $2 for a big bottle.
    6. Entrance fees – Usually, a few areas will charge foreigners more. But, if we remain shi shi for 5 minutes, I guess we will convince the guards to charge us local entrance rates.
    7. Tidbits – I got to leave this to you.
    8. Shopping, massage – also got to leave this to you. A massage likely to cost you less than $10 per hour. Tim charges $20. Usually, I will pay about $7 per hour.
    9. Last day, a good meal in a nice place. We can decide then. Difficult to say how much; but it is really up to us. So, bring around 7000 baht, should suffice for now. More details later.

The plan is to organise the trip in a manner the regular tourist travel agent will not take you to.

    Terence Seah

  14. Ha Ha, Terence you beat me to it. I was thinking of organising it in April or May. Anyway, I have been to the full moon party at Koh Phangan about 6 or 7 years ago and I guess things might not have changed that much.

One good point to note is to find accommodation at Koh Phangnan on the night of the party itself. Otherwise, like me you’d be forced to party all night as the ferry that takes you there from Koh Samui doesn’t make the return journey until the sun is up.

As for the party, if you a heavy metal animal you’d be in your elements. Unfortunately I’m more of an opera person so the enforced partying was a bit of aural torture.

Another point to note is that drinks are bought in little pails, the kind that kids build sand castles with on the beach. Imagine drinking out of that. It’s not so little after all. Speaking drinks and beaches, ‘sex on the beach’ is not necessarily the name of a cocktail at the full moon party.

    Go experience it yourself.

I’ll probably be in Bangkok around that time and I’ll try to swing by Koh Samui on my way back to Singapore.

  15. Hi Terence,

Thank you your effort to plan for the exciting & adventure trip to Phuket & Samui. Would be appreciate you could add in Eileen, Sokie, Karen Thio & myself in your name list to participate this fun holiday, we shall book for the air ticket once confirm by you.
    Cheers.

    Judy Lim

  16. Hi Anna, Tim, JudyT, JudyL, Janie, Eileen. Sockie and Karen,

    Likely SCHEDULE AS FOLLOWS:
Thur 17 Mar – ETA Phuket, get to hotel on your own or form groups of 3. Overnight in Phuket. Shopping, nightlife activities and seeing the lights of Phuket.

Fri 18 Mar – About 8 am, leave Phuket via van to Samui, en route to Surat Thani. 4-5 hour journey, get to ferry point to Samui big island in 2 hours. Arr Samui by 4pm. Overnight in Samui. Enjoy the nights of Samui.

Sat 19 Mar – Early morning, visit to the National Park, followed by high speed boat to Pa-Ngan. By about 8pm, get to Pa-Ngan beach. Google the full moon party for activities. Overnight at hotel or beach.

    Sun 20 Mar – Pa-Ngan – Samui – Phuket
Mon 21 Mar – Island trip.
Tue 22 Mar – return to Singapore.

Before you decide to join this trip, please note that I would not normally personally go for such a long travel trip, with such a long travelling time. My advice is for you NOT to join the trip.

But, if you like stops here and there to see that part of Thailand, with little eat outs here and there, you can then consider. If you like some nightlife, some drinking, and go places the tourist guide may not bring you to, then the trip would be interesting. Some degree of independence is required, as we may travel in small groups of tuk tuks or motorcycles. And, finally, if you like photography, the trip will be even more interesting.

    Think about it.

    Terence Seah

  17. Hi Terence,

I like the proposed itinerary which could be quite different from normal tour. I am in and have booked my flight on Air Asia as mentioned above.

    Thanks!

    Janie

  18. Hi guys!!

Wish I could go, but at my age I’m afraid the long trip would be too exhausting for me!

Just a note on arriving and staying in Phuket:

Unless it’s been decided, I think Terence should decide where you people should be staying, at least the area/district, so that pickup can be easily arranged. I suggest the Patong beach area as there will be easy transport from the airport.

If you have a late flight, Patong being the most popular beach area for tourists, will have minibuses round the clock, so there should be no hassle.

I prefer staying at The Birdcage guest house or the K&N hotel opposite if Birdcage is full. This is on a quiet soi (lane) but easy walking distance to the boom of Bangla bars and go-gos.

    Have a great trip!!

    Kenneth

  19. I had visited Phuket a few times. I visited Ko Samui many, many years ago. At that time life was simple and laid back and cost was very low. Most of the visitors were Ang Mohs and we were one of the few Singaporeans there. I had fond memories of my stay there. I was told by the hotel people that the majority of the Chinese there were Hainanese. Very strange but true and they started as fishermen and later went into the tourist business. As a Soo Kee nang, I had special treatment by the boss of the holiday resort and enjoyed myself very much. He even invited me to stay at his house with my family at our next visit. Unfortunately, I did not take up the offer.

I am interested in this trip and Thomas Lau has also informed me that he would like to join in.

I have checked Air Asia and its now $180. Jet Star Asia is now $141.95 departing in the morning. If departing at 9.20pm, it is $120. Tiger Airways is the best so far at $95 departing for Phuket at 6.30pm. Looks like Tiger is the best so far. Anyone else interested in flying Tiger so that we can all go together as a group.

    Cheers,

    Andrew Koh

  20. Hi Janie, Kenneth, Andrew,

I shall be booking the Airasia flight, arriving 1345 hours. So, I go with Janie.

Didnt book my return, as I am not sure of my onward schedule.

Kenneth, thank you for your advice. We will stay on Patong beach, the most vibrant beach in Phuket.

Andrew, I look forward to your joining.

    Terence Seah

  21. Hi Terence,

I have already booked the flight on Tiger Airways for both Thomas Lau and myself. Leaving Singapore on 17 Mar on Flight No. TR 2158 ETD 1830 hrs ETA Phuket 19:10 hrs. On 22 Mar we leave for Singapore on Flight No. TR 2153 at 10:40 hrs.

Anyone else joining us on this flight

    Andrew Koh

  22. AndrewK, ThomasL, Mega,
Great, I look forward to more men.

    And Hi everybody,
I must stress that this is no 5 star trip. May 3 or 4 stars only.

    Terence Seah

  23. Hi Terence,

Please be informed that I have confirmed the flight on Tiger Airways for Neo Sock Cheng, Eileen Thean, Karen Thio & myself, flight details are the same as Andrew Koh.

Sorry that I have omitted Eileen Thean surname in my #16 comment.

See all of you in Phuket ^_^

    Thank you.

    Judy Lim

  24. Hi TimL,
Very nice to have you on this trip.

    And, to all fellow travellers,
Welcome to Pg-Ngan full moon night. Please bring as little clothes as possible. Sun-glasses and slippers. Check your digital camera, or your handphone camera.

Please peep at the coming list. Make sure your name is there. Now, what do you like to see, eat or be entertained by? We shall try to accommodate.

    Terence Seah

  25. Haha, Terence, with 11 gals looking after 5 guys, we’ll definitely be pampered to an extent even our polygamous gggg’fathers will envy us.

Seriously, think it’s a roughening trip and the fun is in taking in the sight, sound, food and culture of the people. Think our fellow trippers will hv this mettle.

Hopefully, the weather will be cool, breezy and non humid but this is too tall a bargain for me but will ask you to pls talk with Him whom you call by his first name.

  26. Terence

#39 .. sorry , repeated Sockie name twice..It should be Judy Lim … She want me to send this amendment immediately or she will be bunk with ??????? .

Judy, now u are safe in the group (haha)

    karen

  27. Terence

We wanted 3 in a room instead of 2 in a room .

U will be arrangement the accommodation & transport, right ??

Thanks u and looking forward to this trip.

    karen

  28. Hi Karen and participants,

Hotels are very personal. What I would likely do is to select a hotel, with price, at a particular location. We will arrange the hotels, but you will be free to choose a nearby hotel. We dont have to stay in the same hotel. Will keep you informed. I guess this will allow for some flexibility and preferance.

    Terence Seah

  29. Dear folks

The weather is piercing hot in Phuket. Just came back last week. It is very crowded at Patong, Karon, Kata beaches.

Please remember to bring all your sun block.

    Regards
    Helen

  30. For those joining me in Phuket, have a look at the Bird Cage hotel. http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/phuket/the_bird_cage_patong_guesthouse_hotel.html. Kenneth Tan has stayed there, an it looks good. My suggestion is not to look down on it as it is cheap. It is not in the $100 range. There are a few rooms available on Mar 17.

If we cannot fit into this hotel, we can find anaother nearby hotel. It’s fun being close together. Let me know your thoughts. You are not likely to spend a lot of time sleeping.

Kenneth, any further comments from you?

    Terence Seah

  31. Thanks Terence, read the reviews and generally it’s good and value for money. Only con is no elevator. Economy room is small so go for bigger room if sharing. Location seems to be very good. I agree cannot complain for that price. Rooms are still available but not many. I think we should proceed to book and get accomodation at Phuket settled.

    Janie

  32. Hi Janie #46,

Your points are noted. Let’s see what the others have to say by this week. I plan to book the first night by Monday next week. Members are free to book their own rooms, and pay on their own. You can also book another hotel. Just stay around this hotel, so that we can gather together easily, or change rooms easily. We dont have much time to sleep.

    Terence Seah

  33. Hi Terence & guys!

It’s quite difficult to cater to all needs for hotels; the hotel/s I usually stay in are budget, so no lifts. Get a lower floor if you cannot manage stairs.

The Bird Cage is a clean, safe and convenient place, near to the beach area, seafood stalls and walking distance to Bangla Road where the gogo-bars and pubs are. It is possible to park about four cars just outside the buiding.

There is also the question of budgets… so how much do you want to pay for just one night’s stay?

In the same soi (lane) there are other choices you can also look into:

    1. K.N. Guest House just opposite the Bird Cage, with about the same facilities plus pool.

    2. Pacific Light Hotel, more upmarket place just around the corner of the same soi. I would stay here if on romantic date. They might have a lift.

    3. Jintana Patong & Resort, higher end tourist class hotel.

There are many other hotels/guest houses along the same road, but with a wide range of facilities, but these are the ones I have experience with.

I suggest you keep to the hotels in this area for easy pickup and co-ordination.

    Have a great trip!

  34. Hi Lydia & Janie,

Have both of you booked your hotel? If not do you both mind 3 of us share a room ? If ok, anyone can assist to proceed to book the accomodation ?

    Looking forward to your comments.
    Regards
    Lilian

  35. Kenneth Tan,

The Bird Cage looks ok to me. I checked their website and their rates are really reaonable. I intend to have a room with 2 beds but the picture shows only 1 bed in the Economy and Standard Category. The photos for the Superior room do have 2 or 3 beds but it is not on bargain. Which category do you recommend with a room with 2 beds. I was thinking whether the Standard Category have 2 beds.

I am thinking of booking a room in advance on 17/3/11 only. While there recce and book rooms for our return on 21/3/11.

  36. Hi Lilian,

I went to the website for Birdcage and saw the promotion rate for economy room which I have booked before reading your posting. So sorry, u may want to share with Lydia. Thanks.

    Janie

  37. Hi Andrew

I’m not sure if their economy room promotion rate will have two single beds. You can call them to check.

Otherwise just book the K.N. Guest House (opposite the Bird Cage) or the Pacific Light Hotel if you want to pay more.

Yes, good idea, you can book the return night when you’re there. There are lots of hotels around the Bird Cage, including a brand-new one along the left which I can’t recall the name of.

Haha, the whole Bird Cage will have loud twittering and bird calls from the SHC gang!

  38. Some further suggestions:

    For Breakfast
Turn right onto the main road, coming out from the Bird Cage, there are two small shops where you can have decent western or Thai eats at reasonable prices. Or you can eat at the “Tiger” just on the corner on your left.

    For Seafood Dinner
Walk down further about 50m on the same side and you’ll come to a row of seafood stalls with tables set out in the open. There will be many touts showing you their menus but they are all about the same. The first stall has the better crowd.

    For Late Nightbirds
Walk further down, led by your ears to the heavy beat, you’ll come to Bangla Rd where the go-go pubs and ladyboys congregate with hundreds of tourists. Welcome to Patong!

You’ll find me, however, in the Junk Ceylon shopping centre opposite, sipping a quiet cup of coffee!

  39. Thanks Kenneth-T for yr intro and treats but why sip kopi when you shd let all those happenings seep thru yr bones and do the mari kita? Hope to meet up with this good chap you.

For me, any hotel will do so long as it has a king size bed cos i wont be sleeping alone. Perhaps the kinky me will wake up to the call of a double-king……..

  40. Hi Lydia,

Great, am glad you also already taken care of your accommodation arrangements.
will not be an issue for me either, I am in safe hand.
    Thank to all my buddies.

    c u all
    Regards
    Lilian

  41. Hi AnnaS #1,

Are you confirmed to come to Pa-Ngan?

For the main party to Pa-Ngan, tentatively, the accommodation and transport is as follows:

Friday night 18 Jan @ Long Beach Lodge (Samui): 2000 baht/night
    http://www.travelfish.org/accommodation_profile/thailand/southern_thailand/surat_thani/chaweng_beach/all/1393

Sat Moon Paradise Bungalow, 1800 Baht per night http://www.agoda.co.th/asia/thailand/koh_phangan_samui/moon_paradise_bungalow.html

Two vans will pick us from Phuket to Samui + all transport in Samui + Samui to Phuket: total cost 16000 ?/van (include drivers and gasoline) $90/pax.

Anybody who has other options, please feedback so we can check on it.

    Terence Seah

  42. Hi Mega, Tim,
Pleae advise your accommodation preference. I plan to do the booking tomorrow for both of you.

    Hi Janie, Lillian, Irene,

    Couple, A, B, D,
pleae advise if you like me to book for you. Accommodation will not be booked, if by tomorrow Tues, 12nn, I do not hear from you. 3 to share?

    Terence Seah

  43. Hi TerenceS #65

I have booked an economy room in Birdcage for 17th Mar for myself only. I presume accomodation for the rest of the days can be settled there. Please tell me if I am wrong and kidly advise what I need to do. Thanks.

    Janie

  44. Terence

Judy Lim / EIleen Thean / SOckie / Irene Seet / karen / Jane
have book 3 room at Birdcage on 17/Mar .. Lilian will bunk in one of the room ..

Rest of the day .. believe you will make the arrangment , right ??

    Thanks

    Karen

  45. Thanks Terence.

Much obliged if you would kindly book a room with a double bed for me at BirdCage. Pls ask for 3 sets of keys and you keep 1 set to see what I do at nite and how I set a bird cage to catch birds.

Dont bet that I am kidding you but do bet that I will kiss you if you come for a 3-some.

Incidentally, with 2 withdrawals, and if you hv not already closed the invite for this trip, perhaps you might get 2 nightingales to sign up and join you for a mega orgy?

  46. Hi TerenceS #60

I found this long list of accommodation in Koh Samui
    http://hotels.lonelyplanet.com/thailand/ko-samui-r1974331/?SearchDetails=L!10000!!-1!1974331!!!-1!-1!-1!-1!!!!57.59.27.4.52!!!&VAView=&VAAction=&VAData=&VAMessage=&PageNumber=3

Personally, I think the choice is very dependent on the itinerary. I do agree with you that choice of hotel is very personal but it will be good to stay together once on the move. The number of rooms base one bed to each person shouldn’t be too far wrong. Hope the rest can agree that we leave the planning & decision to Terence to facilitate the booking. Just my opinion, your comments are most welcome. Thanks.

    Janie

  47. Hi Janie and fellow night beach seekers,

On this Phuket to Pa-Ngan island, please note I am very open to the suggestions on where we stay. We plan to use the place of residence as suggested in #60, but we can still change it. If you know of something interesting, let us know. As long we stay close together, within 100m, I think we would be fine. Like Kenneth says, the fun is to have a bunch of SHCians having fun together.

Look at Choweng beach and Pa-Ngan island. YOu cannot go wrong.

  48. For members joining the pa-Ngan party, i shall have the updates on the tip during the Feb monthly gathering. So, see you then, if you can make it.

  49. Hi Phuket-Samui guys!

I wonder if any of you would be reading this as the post is so long ago. But the trip is coming up fast and I just have some suggestions:

    1. I have looked into booking hotels and guest houses for the week March 21st (when you guys are scheduled back in Phuket) and found that many places have only a few rooms available. I don’t mean to scare any of you but it may be a good idea to secure your room in Phuket for the return leg of your journey. I don’t know why there is a sudden increase in bookings.

    2. I have used Agoda.com to book my hotel but there has been a recent warning by Norton for this website. They have started adding charges and fees on top of their published rates. So please be careful.

    Kenneth

  50. Thank you Kenneth-T. As usual, you’re so dependable and always there to alert us.

Now, Monsieur Terence, will you have some surprises for us? I have a birthday to celebrate and hopefully it wont be in a tent.

T, do you have friends there who can provide us at least barns and buns in an emergency? Direct exposure under a Full-Moon might turn some ladies into werewolves and some guys, color-wolves.

  51. Hi Kenneth #74, Tim,

Kenneth, thank you for the helpful info. Yes, I had a look at the accommodation in Phuket. The Birdcage is tight. But, I was thinking we may want to try another hotel. Kenneth, can you recommend one of the must visit bars that you have been to. Maybe a disco that last until the early hours of the morning. We can all sleep in the vans on our way to Samui the next morning.

Fellow travellers. We leave Birdcage after breakfast; 8.30 am we head for Surat Thani, join Sompho, tour a must visit reservoir, have Southern Thai food for lunch, and then head for Samui in the afternoon. Expect to reach Samui at 6pm. Spend the night out, and the whole of Sat in Samui. Then a 15 min speed boat to Pa-Ngan island, and return to Samui within the night. Can also overnight at beach. Andrew will be our Hainanese translator, in our search for Hainanese food in Samui.

    Terence Seah

  52. Hahaha, Terence!

Are you asking me for a disco or bar recommendation? I am certainly not a bar or disco guy… I cannot take late nights with ear-splitting music and bottles of booze, although the girls may be an attraction.

Don’t forget there is also a legal closing time for the bars in Thailand. But you may end up in one of the places where the music goes on… and on…

And then you are spending the next nights in Samui and Phanghan… where are you guys getting your energy from?
Red Bull or two or three?!!

As for me, I shall be chilling out in Phuket Town: happily settled for four nights, enjoying the simple charms of the old city, eating at simple market stalls and sipping the southern-style kopi.

Maybe I’ll take a gander to Patong and meet this rowdy bunch on their way back home.

  53. Ok, Terence, hv noted your confidence and will leave things in yr good hands but dont forget to update your Will and entrust it with your executor b4 the 17th instant.

Kenneth-T, hope you will be able to join us for a day or 2.

  60. “………..sure me & my buddy will enjoy our holiday with gila gila tim liu around surely our chief must whack pandol liao..”

Sam, you’re quite right that tim liu is gila but he is no reveller for parties, let alone a solid pulsating hot one like this Full Moon one.

First read of the FMP, it didnt occur to me what this FMP is about dancing, booze and perhaps the darker side of sleaze. I thought folks from near and far will converge to bow and howl at the moon till it turns read and bleeds. Scary but that shows the ultimate of People Power.

All my life I had not attended, except once, a dancing hotspot, not even porn nites or prom nites.

Abt 3 years ago, I oined some SHCians to see the return of the Thunderbirds at Zouk. What I saw were a ton of birds…….tame and lame. No one can run away from the scourge of ageing. Sigh.

Frankly, I am looking forward more to the travellings and sight-see, to savour the famed food and to get some stomach upsets. Noise and crowd are smthg I feel not up to now.

Whatever, we will all strive to make this trip fun and memorable. With you around, the gals shd feel safe at the FMP. So, pls dont look elsewhere for yellow shirts and red skirts, That’sin and Abit(of)shit…….

  61. Wowee!!

The date is getting nearer… and nearer! When 18 guys and gals will be flocking to Phuket and Samui… not lame birds, I hope!

Haha! Tim Lui, welcome to the seniors club: You and I can share a cuppa kopi while we watch the old birds trying to act like young birds. But please be careful and look out for each other… these parties are known for petty thefts and drug busts, other than the drunken orgies.

I shall be in Phuket and hope to contact Terence or Sompho by mobile to see if I can meet you guys when you’re back in Phuket on the 21st. I shall be staying in Phuket town… not too far from the local Thai discos and action… but away from the touristy Bangla strip.

  62. Aiyah, Kenneth-T, my pedigree isnt too bad and my ancestors had been emperors and kings if you remember Liu Pang and Liu Bei. There’re also famous people in the Lui clan, like Lui Liong Wai, Lui Bu but I still want to be a Liu.

Kopi will be on me if you will make the time to meet us. A cuppa for 2 is too lache lah. Will also buy you 2 tins to carry home.

Frankly, I dont know what I am getting myself into. Wild parties, senseless boozing, drug chewings…….Hope i will be abe to find a quieter spot to bow and howl at the moon with chantings and rantings which I thought what a Full Moon Party is. Pls join me and we might get all the people there to change their behaviour and their disrespect for the Moon which cd hv caused all these calamities and disasters.

  63. Hi June

I have a few hundred photos in my camera and am still waiting for a few other members to pass me the rest, will sort them out as soon as I can.

Thanks to Terence for arranging this trip…..it was a great trip and an eye opener for all of us…..and I think we were the oldest group of people at the full moon party but that does not stop us from enjoying the fun too :0)

    Sockie

  64. Hello all Pa-Nganners buddies,

am sure you all heard the news that Surat Thani & Koh Samui was flooded because of heavy rain, lots of holidays makers was stranded in places because ferry was disrupted. We are so lucky to have visited the place much earlier. They were warn that Phuket will be effected too if the heavy rain continue..

Yes Sockie, indeed we were a group of senior citizens having fun at Pa-Ngan Island, guess this will be our first and the last.

Thanks Terence for arranging a wonderful trip.

    ET

  65. To all Pa-Nganners, who have gone to Samui and Phuket with me. I have not replied you individually, so I like to take this opportunity to thank you for the company and fun time together.

Yes, all of us are thankful that we return one week before the storm and the floods. If we had stayed longer, maybe we will get a chance to cruise on Thailand only aircraft carrier.

    Terence Seah

  66. Hello Pa-Nganners

Finally I had collected all the photos and had the 1000’s of photos reduced to a managable 500+ and these are noe uploaded for your viewing pleasure.

  68. Hi Andrew, and fellow Pa-Nganers,

Can you swear that the pork leg in the above banner is authentic Hananese Pork leg?

Someone seemed to have disappeared after the Phuket-Samui trip. I wonder if this is normal. One trip, and he disappears.

    It was an enjoyable trip.

    Terence Seah

  69. Hi Terence,

The pic of the pork leg was taken from a roadside stall that we had breakfast. The lady did not speak Hainanese, so I am doubtful it is authentic Hainanese Pork leg.

Whoever disappears….come back! Else no more trip for you

    Janie

  70. Hi Terence,

I agree with Janie that the pork leg was not authentic Hainanese Pork Leg. The stall was manned by 2 Thai women and they could not speak Hainanese. I noticed that there are many pork leg being sold in Thailand and they are quite delicious but not authentic Hainese pork leg. Unfortuantely, we could not try the Hainanese food in Ko Samui. Had we have more time, we could have asked the Hainanese lady boss at Lolita to cook for us the Hainanese pork leg.

In Singapore, there is a stall selling authentic Hainanese pork leg. The stall is at East Coast Lagoon and the Hainanese Ah Toh cook the pork leg personally. If you or anyone else are interested we could go there one of these days to sample the authentic Hainanese pork leg.

I agree that it was an enjoyable trip. Wish it was longer.

    Andrew K
