IT Interest Group Meeting on 17-11-2012 (Saturday)

This month’s ITIG discussion will be on Understanding and Using the Internet.

So, what is the Internet? Internet is about “Networking”. You can communicate (in voice or in text), meet new friends through social networking, blogging, tweeting, do online transactions, search for answers/solutions, reading news/books (online) or even doing simple chore of keeping you reminded of your daily appointments and events, wherever you are.

Like electricity, knowing little about “The Internet” is a dangerous thing. If you are not careful, you may have got into trouble with viruses or intrusions from hackers. On the malicious side, sensitive information and/or monies may be involved in fraudulent transactions.

Internet is the future and is the way forward.

I have seen an 86 years old man searching for movies/video using the iPad and our “Z” Generation (3+ years) playing computer games on the iPad. Come to this ITIG discussion and share your expGGberience. Using the Internet is not always doomed and groomed; the advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages. As the saying goes… nothing venture, nothing gain.

Owing to classroom size availability, registration will close at 20.

For those who wish to attend, please provide me with your IC number (as required by LKCC). Do not write your IC details in your comments to the post but email me separately through hewlee@gmail.com

  1. (#1 through #9) ..June Koh, Linda Chan, Wendy See, Lilian Teo, Pearl Kwan, Richard Wong, Susan Tan Seok Wah, Ann Lim and Lin Chuah …welcome to ITIG.
For your information, LKCC classroom does not have Internet (Wi-Fi) connection. You can bring along your smartphones, iPhones, iPads or tablets. If your smart devices have data or mobile wireless connections, you can try out examples discuss in the classroom.

  3. Hi Hew Lee

I overlooked this invitation. Please put my name on the waiting list in the event of any cancellation. I’m a retiree and interested to know and learn more about “interneting”.

    Thanks & regards

  4. Good Job, Hew Lee!

Your ITIG events are always full-house!

Wished there are more keen EOs like you stepping forward.

And more participants (especially the ones who are located between the chair and the monitor all the time) for every other SHC event posted and organised…LOL!!

  5. Hi Hew Lee,
I know you are the I T expert and I would appreciate if you can teach me how to use the ipad that I have kept in storage, now that I have the time to use it.
Would you be able to find the time and the patience to teach me?
I will buy you lunch, if you can oblige me.
    Thank you in advance,
    Cheers,
    Mary Chan

    1. Mary, I Hv a coffee chat in HarbourFront Food Court on 18th June from 3PM to 5PM. If u Hv the time, u can fully charge yr iPad and bring along. I can show u how to go about it.

  6. Hi Hew Lee,
Thanks for your prompt response. I can’t make it on the 18th, but I will join you on the 9th of July. What is the fee?
    Cheers
