Nothing to do, so decide to go up to Mersing this Friday

A week ago, a friend of mine told me that this Friday is a holiday.  I wasn’t too sure if I will be in Singapore.  Well, I am back, and I suddenly want to take a slow car drive to Mersing.  So, we agreed to drive to Mersing using the attached route map.  We go Friday at about 6am and back Sunday late afternoon.

If there is anyone with your own car and group, wanting to drive up together, let’s meet just after the 2nd link.

No schedule, no prebooked hotels, eat simply and as local as possible, no speed driving.  Objective: eat, enjoy the scenery, and come back safely.

Let me know if you are coming.

  2. Hi Terence,

This Friday is a long week-end. If you want to visit Msia on the eve or morning of a long week-end, 6am is not early enough. You will get caught in a jam.

    Just for your consideration.

  3. You are right Charles, I was at woodlands causeway 5am friday morning. Thought I was early but no, it was already jammed. It took me 45mins to reach JB immigration. When I return back to SIN at 1430 hrs it was smooth sailing but it was still jammed going into JB. My friend told me her colleagues went back on thursday nite at 930pm and they only managed to cross the causeway by 1:00 am.

  4. Agreed with Molly. This time the traffic congestion was worse than I had expected. I reached Woodlands Immigration before 6 am with a group of cyclists. Normally the congestion builds up before 7 am even on public holidays. Luckily for us, we manage to cycle past all the cars in the long queue through the clear passage on the road shoulder. The clearance @ Msian Immigration was a breeze.

  5. Thank you folks for the advice on my intended trip to Mersing. Onstead of leaving on last Friday morning, I left on last thur night via the causeway. Left Singapore at 6pm, took one hour to cross the Singapore side and 20 mins to cross the Malaysian side. It was raining all the way. Decided to head for Malacca, instead of Mersing. Reach Malacca at 11pm.

Has been there since. Am heading back to Singapore today. I enjoyed the food holiday. Thanks for the travel advice advice. Mersing is next.

  7. Hi Molly,

I am surprised that with your experience, you still want to go there before a long week-end.

    Thot you should know better.

Yes Yew Kwong, cycling is better than driving, especially before a long week-end. Furthermore, it is healthier, a natural detox and you get a natural flush when your heart-beat reaches 150bpm.
