  1. Hi Ron & Alice,

Wow! Both of you “hai tak keh”! Would love to join you but is it not going to be a sauna bath situation out there?

    Cheers, Edwin Chen

  2. Wow! Ron & Alice
thanks for listing the schedule. Last year was on a smaller scale, this year seems a bigger and exciting!
    My calendar is checked! :D

    Cheerio!

  3. Hi Ron & Alice,

This is the moment I am waiting for, but why the timetable / schedule “gum gum” I not around leh. Anyway thanks for the info.

Hello Edwin, Esplanade-by-the Sea. You won’t end up sauna bathing but will be spa….ing, so breezy and windy by the Sea :)

    Ah Nee.

  4. Hi Ah Nee,

Sorry, my dear, “swa ku” already, didn’t know it will be breezy followed by windy and by sea. Wah! My kind of scene! Ok, try to be there but must first dry clean my “Harley Davison” leather jacket and brush my “Akubra” hat!

Ah Nee, so windy, how to put on my Elvis wig and side burns??

    Edwin Chen

  5. Hi Edwin, Christine, Mary, Caroline n Ah Nee

G’morn! Alice and I are pleased to know that all of you are interested, lets enjoy the dances n the music you preferred, and hang on to the schedules until time comes.

Edwin need not worry abt the sauna bath, as what Ah Nee said it correctly, breezy and windy by the sea. If the needs arises, we will bring fans, leh, or else we will bring along our swimming costumes, the Park Rangers will not mind, we suppose, the sea is by the side. We think Ah Nee will have a job to do, instead of learning the dances, she will be very busy holding up Edwin’s “Elvis Wig” and the side-burn, hehehe….

Ah Nee, the time-table n schedules are “Gum Gum”
bcos they are of different days, and easier to remember, lor.

OK get set to pick the dances you love and make ourselves there.

  6. Hi Ron Lai,

My dear friend, are you sure we can swim in these waters? Although we have many friendly sharks swimming around Raffles Lighthouse, I don’t know whether their cousins nearer to shore are as friendly!

Ah Nee, our brother is right, the program is scheduled so nicely for you, how could it be not “gum gum” for anyone? Any twinkle toes, can pick their choice and be there.

Hey, I bought my Elvis wig with sideburns in Sydney, its the rather expensive kind, not the regular run of the mill type from costume shops that when you put it on and it looks like my maid’s demoralised mop!

    Cheers, have fun, Edwin Chen

  7. Hi Edwin,

You not bad looking leh, but can’t imagine how you look like after you put on your Elvis Wig with sideburns, dark sun glasses, leather jacket, A go go bell bottom pant…ha…ha…ha….must snapshot you for SHC Website posting. Since it is breezy and windy by the sea and I am not going to hold your “Elvis Wig”, I suggest you do away with your wig and comb your hair like the “epok epok” style instead. Oops! the last time I met you, you were putting on a cap…sori hor, you got hair to comb or not :) ha…ha….ha….

    Ah Nee

  8. Hi Rene

Keep those dates open, and choose the dance that you like, is high time our Silverhairs come out to learn some dances, whether you are 45 or 85, the important thing is that you enjoy the dance, is a form of exercise also. Don’t forget our D&D will be around the corner sooner than we think.

  9. Dear Ah Nee,

To be honest with you, I sport a crew cut. I need to have a cap on most of the time because when I take it off, my high forehead will shine so brilliantly that you folks will go blind!

My Elvis wig and side burns can only be used in air-conditioned places. Otherwise, I will perspire so much, it will be “Rain Drops Keep Falling On Most Heads”..

Sometimes, when I play the guitar and perform with R&R groups, I put on an old fashioned “John Lennon” wig.. now you know why I need to have a crew cut hair style.. really sweaty in this weather! “Tak boleh tahan, sangat panas la”

    Cheers, Edwin Chen

  10. Hi Ron,

You gg early to “chope” place?

Besides the Ballroom & Latin Fever, wonder how many of you like the Arabian Nights & Bollywood Boogie?

  11. Hi Annto

Not necessary to “chope” place, as it is an open concept, the more the merrier. The only thing to have fun is, to get a group of your “kakies” to the dance of your preference, as there various dances and dates to cosider, must put on your thinking caps.

    See you there, HAPPY DANCING111

  12. Hi Ron & Alice

It is nice to meet both of you bringing in the dancing opportunities.

I will ask our line dancing friends to join in on the line dancing day. Other days if can get the kakies for those dance that need partner, will attend.

    See you there.

  13. I can easily imagine the dashing Edwin in Harley Davison leather jackets, Elvis’ wig burning by the sides but pls, not an akubra hat but a sombrero complete with fidel castro’s cigar & a del monte ferdinand marcos banana………and like that, even if Veron wont belly-danz, she’ll still walk up to you in a tank top showing her belly………

  14. Hi Veron n Annie

Nice to hear from both of you, your interest in dancing will greatly enhance after seeing the pros. Belly dancing is an art, not every person can master it. I have seen belly dancing in Egypt on board the yacht, while cruising along the Nile, you can very well imagine they can do belly dancing with a stick abt 4ft long, across the belly, without holding.

See both of you on that nights.

  15. Hi Ron,

I agreed with you that belly dancing is an art that u have to master it. Dats why I’m longing to learn this art. I 1st exposed to belly dancing when i was in Turkey and Egypt on holiday. So festinated by the flexibilty of the whole body includinhg the fingers and surprisingly, the dancers were not slim.

Timsan, I love belly dancing but I got no belly to show off leh!

    cheers! veron

  16. Veron, let me sin no more and confess…..i’ve been ogling yr good contours and arguably an affecionado of the mid-section. I am amazed at the amt of time you must hv spent at the gym to keep that nice belly in and a tummy out………

  17. Hi Edwin

Belly dancing originate from the Middle East, is entirely different form of dancing, more to control of belly movement (thats how the name derived). Hawaiian n Tahitian dances give more concentration to the hips “giat”. When using the hips, the Hawaiian n Tahitian women folks, even those “fatso” hehe…can execute very nicely.

  18. Hi Ron Lai,

When I can get an Aloha place started, I want to re-introduce the Hawaiian Hula,my way!

Can we meet today at 12.30noon EC McDonalds?
Hope you can recognise me, anyway, look for the guy with a hawaiian shirt and red faded cap. And lets go talk to the aussie owner.
    Hope she speaks my language!

    Cheers, Edwin Chen

  19. Hi Ron & Alice,

    Thanks for the info.
I’ll definetly keep those dates in mind
and shall try to join in the fun.
I too love dancing, be it social or line
dance hope to meet you guys there yah?

    Cheers bbcatherine

  20. Hi Edwin

Hope you would be able to start your ALOHA joint sooner than expected, with Silverhairs backup I think you would not be alone. Music is the food of life, with music it can draw in people like a magnet. Not like the days gone by, nowadays we are not able to find Hawaiian music anywhere around, with your Hula Hula stuff, the attractions are aplenty.

    CHEERS

  21. Hi Catherine

Thanks for your interest in the dances, as you are interested in various dances, you will not be left out, as there are many to choose from, see you there.

  23. Hi ALL

‘FREE DANCE DEMONSTRATION’ – Esplanade, Stage @Powerhouse

Last night the Latin Fever really went along with the crowd at the Esplanade by the sea.

We, the Silverhairs, comprising Susan, Lee Ah Nee, Rene, Molly, Ronald Lee, Alice and myself, were there to soak-up the Salsa dance steps. We had a wonderful time trying to master the Salsa dance.

The Pros performed on the stage in two sessions of 45 mins each. After each session they taught the dance steps to the participants, step by step, and the Pros even came down to the dance floor to dance with the crowd.

They had laid out a big dance area, build especially for dancing in front of the stage.

The salsa dance steps taught by the Pros that very night was enough for us to dance the night away, with practice, could be used in any Salsa dance anywhere — and is was FREE.

For those who had missed out, don’t worry, there are other nights of different dances, only try to make your way down to the Esplanade by the Sea.

  25. Hi All

FREE DANCE DEMONSTRATIONS – Esplanade @Powerhouse

Last night was the night of the Ballroom enthusiasts, a big crowd turned out. Happily our Silverhairs, comprising: Dan Huang, Catherine Yeo, Ronald Wie, Dennis Wee, Andrew Yeung, Linda Chang, Ronald Lee, Christina Chan, Alice Lai and myself had a good time, learning the rope. The pros were performing the Tango, Waltz, Rumba and Jive on the stage, with their glistening suits and gowns that thrilled the crowd, and with their fleet-footed dance step that really bring out the magic in them. We had learned a thing or two in Rumba steps and the hip rolls of figure eight, plus weight control of the body movements.

    REGARDS
