Chitchat Session on 17.02.2012 (Friday)

Besides Photography field trips, which is organized once in every 3-4 months, we are considering to have a fortnightly gathering in any convenient venue in food courts like Kopitiam for 2-3 hours of chitchat.

The objective is to provide an opportunity for any SHC member just to come out for a cup of coffee, chitchat and to expand our social network. For those interested, it’s a great way to get involved & meet others with similar interests. We can share and discuss common topics (including IT) during the gathering. We should avoid the peak hours of these food court outlets and to conduct it on a weekday.

We plan to have a small gathering of size not more than 12 SHC members including the EO on a first come first serve basis.

The details:

Date: 17.02.2012 (Friday)

Venue: Plaza Singapura Kopitiam Food Court (Level 6). Nearest MRT at Dhoby Ghaut.

Time: 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM

    Would love to join you folks for the chit chat espcially on the subject of photography and IT (not the one Tian Soo had in mind hahahaha)…… I have been ahving sooo much problem with my PC having re-formatted it not less than 8 times in less than a year haiz…….. but timing no good for me lei

  14. Hi Sock Cheng, sorry you can’t join us due to work commitment. There is always other means of communication besides the 4-eyes meeting. Surprised to hear you have system crashes more than 8 times in a year. Maybe the PC is telling you he needs to retire before you.

    My understanding of system crashes is that the owner normally has done something “different” immediately prior to the crash. Identify it and never to do it again will remove a lot of headache.

    #16 Annie Loh. So far, I have not been successful in logging onto a “free” Wi-Fi network in this Kopitiam @ Plaza Singapura. So, the answer is, cannot surf the Internet unless you have your own portable ubs modem or a smart phone.

If no topics raised, I have the intention, on this first chitchat session to discuss on the topic mentioned in the earlier post and that is “What the Internet has affected business and our lifestyle?” This is a chitchat session in a public place (kopitiam) and is not appropriate to conduct a demo with 10 persons crowding round one laptop. You may wish to organize separately, in a proper venue to demo your video tutorials and other topics of interest to SHC members. I hope you understand my objective of organizing this first chitchat session. It is mainly “talk only” with some demostaration of hands-on if any member choose to learn something directly related to their computer set or smart devices.

I do subscribed to the Starhub data plan and can tetter free Wi Fi from my Samsung Galaxy smart phone for those attending.   28. Hi Felice Lim,

    We are using a Public food court space. The longest rectangular table can only sit max 12 persons. If we want everyone to be seated in one table (for effective and meaningful discussion), this is the most ideal number.

    Furthermore, we would not like to attract attention of the general public.
