IT Interest Group Venue for Monthly Discussion

Hello Terence and fellow members,

It is always our IT Interest Group (ITIG) wish to find a venue, easily accessible (with Wi-Fi) and in a quiet environment. Few venues are offered by fellow SHCians but the best so far, I found, is one of the function rooms in "Concern and Care Society", (CCS), located in Block 228, #01-45 Bukit Batok Central, Singapore 650228.

The details of discussion are as follows:

1) CCS will seek management approval to allow SHCians to conduct IT and computer related discussions in the above-mentioned premises. The room (air-conditioned) will be provided with tables & chairs, digital project, screen and Wi-Fi free of charge to SHCians.

2) The DAY/TIME suggested to CCS is the 3rd Tuesday of the Month and in the afternoon (2PM – 6PM).

3) Initially, I will provide ad-hoc, monthly discussion to all interested SHCians.

4) For hands-on, each participant will have to bring their lap-tops.

5) Per session class size will be 14 participants from SHC. Additional 6 members will come from CCS side. This will make up a class of 20 per session.

6) Structured courses will be organized at a later
stage. Most likely, it will be a weekly 2-hourly lessons and with a package of
12 weeks (12 lessons). A nominal fee, as a form of donation, (preliminary, I am thinking of $20 per
participant for 12 lessons) may be charged, for this structured course.

7) Those who are interested to be assistant
trainers or are willing to take over this ITIG, please reply on this post.

  1. Hi Hew Lee.

Can I join your first few adhoc classes? This will be my 2nd time to join your class. At my age (born 1933) I do not need a lap-top, a smartphone, or an ipad (therefor no point investing in one). I just want to learn and see very broadly how all these equipment worked. Of course, if you have enough 14 persons from the SHC, then leave me out (it is not fair that I should deprive someone more deserving of a place)

  3. Hi Lilian (#6), Wai Jin (#9), Yew Tiong (#12) …

You are welcome to join when the arrangement is finalized. For your information, we have not obtain the green light from CCS yet.
