Alternative Lifestyle

Terence has advocated the Short Term Retirement Living
overseas. The post drew many comments and suggestions. However, there were many
proposals which are somewhat different from what Terence set to do. Having
discussed with him, he suggested that I lead a different platform to look at
these other suggestions and comments. He will continue to work on his project.

As such, I am starting this new post “Alternative Lifestyle”,
targeting those who may want short stays ( 1 month or less), and those who may
want to take exploratory step before deciding if they want to go on to Short
Term Retirement ( which would be 3 months or more overseas stay).

For those keen to participate in this, please click on this
link and fill the survey form:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dElMVDF6SDRXd1BTOHdtRGM2blpSRGc6MQ

The purpose of this
survey is to assess the views of those who are interested and the level of
involvement each member is keen. The results will be given only to those who
participate as the survey is the basis of organizing an interest group for this
alternative lifestyle project.

  1. James is leading this “Alternative Lifestyle” idea which would is different from the “3 short term retirement overseas”.

He is targeting active seniors, while I would focus on longer term stays, up to 3 months. I have agreed with James to keep the two discussions separate.

It’s very nice of James to lead this idea, and I am sure more active SHCians would be keen to follow through his thoughts.

So, for 3 months retirement overseas, you will hear more from me.

  2. Hi everyone,

To date, only 12 have made submission. Wonder if the rest of our members are keen on this :-(

The submission will close this weekend.

  3. Hi JamesK #3, and members interested to see Thailand,

Kenneth is very right. If you believe in an “Alternate lifestyle” outside Singapore, you have to push for it. I believe in your concept; but I shall not put all my effort with you as I like to push for “3 months retirement short term living”, despite the almost no response from members.

Most members are interested and concerned with their retirement; but they will only see what there to offer> If they are keen, they will participate, if not, well ….

Why the different thai trips that i am organsing. One, I am there every month. But, I am also rather tight in my travel schedules.

Two, the trips help us understand what the general requirements are for SHC members. So far, the trips are short, almost like those for FIT travellers. It’s for fun and pleasure.

Three, well I have always love Thailand. For those who are interested, join me and you will know what I mean.
