Social Nite at Paya Lebar Kovan CC

Hi friends……..

I would like to invite all of you to join me at the Paya Lebar Kovan CC for a night of FUN dancing, waltzing and twisting if you want to. 

Event Details:
Date: Friday, 31 July 2009
Time: 7.00 pm – 10.30 pm
Fee: $3.00 (with piping hot “Old Chang Kee” curry puff & a bottle of mineral water)
Venue: Paya Lebar Kovan CC air-cond Hall

Programme:
–   DJ and live Band by Jeffrey Gan
–   Social dance
–   Line dance
–   Ballroom waltz and so on………I have suggested to the Dance Club Committee to have some Disco music also, so that those who like to shake & shake, boogie & boogie, can join in too. Looking forward to having a FUN night with you all.

  18. Hi Ah Nee,

    If there is one thing I have learnt from my recent surgery is that one need to exercise to keep young and fit. Exercise helps bring the sugar levels in the body down and excites our red cells so that we stay alert all the time.

    I definitely will join the Kovan social nite on 31 July. I am useless at dancing, but I really love to do some roll and roll. Another Michael Jackson in person. I encourage SHCians, new and old, to come and join this event.

    I don’t know what Jeffrey have in mind for the Line Dance list, but don’t worry, if I can move, you “lagi” can. I like “Cowboy cha cha”, “Chilly Cha Cha”, “Electic slide” and so on. And really got these 3 in the list, the rest I don’t know…hehe…..no need to think, just come lah.

    Terence, I know your son keep reminding you not to drink so much, but hor, a jug of Beer from the white Tangerine Cafe is so tempting leh….wow, I am looking forward to have you around leh. :)

    Let me know how much time has been allocated to Line Dance. maybe I can come up with a list of easy dances and will bring my Ipod to play the music if necessary.

    Also of we can find some time and a convenient place I can do a walk through of some of the dances too.

    Those 3 line dances are what Ah Nee and I knows well – haha. Not many, but good enough for a start, anyway. Perhaps, the others can let you know their preferences. BTW, Ah Nee has gone to Yunnan and will be back on the 16/7.

  27. Hi Lina, On 26th July 2009 Sunday from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm There is free dancing at the KAMPONG KEMBANGAN Community Club. All are welcome as the C C is celebrating National Day at the 3rd floor Badminton Hall. Following that From 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm, KK Dance club will hold their Last Sunday of the month jam nite at the same level but at the Aerobic Hall next door . Do feel free to dance the night through thru’ Cherrio Jeff

    Hi Jeffrey @#23, no particular request, you know what’s best. Most of us know the 3 line dance I mentioned. But it would be good if you can play 2 or 3 numbers of Disco music, so that Terence, Abel, Charles & Sam can boogie boogie…..(hehe…good execise for you all)

    Respond so good, SHC members will practically be occupying at least half the hall leh.

    Of the 3 line dances that Jeffrey suggested (Koot Kaat, Rio & Rock Around the Clock) – Rio is a real beginner dance with simple KLKK steps, very easy to pick up. For Koot Kaat & Rock Around the Clock, some of you already know the dance. I can be there early to run thru the steps for those who forgot. I’m sure Hamidah & Sockie can help too.

    The rest of the people who are going and would like to do some line dancing, can you please suggest some dances which you would like to do asap so that I can see if I have the music for the dance.

    Like what Lily had suggested, we can meet earlier and we can do a quick walk through of the dances before the function starts

  57. Thanks Hamidah & Sockie. I have been out of touch due to PC problem and during office hour don’t have the time to login. Still having some teething problem on my new laptop but should be better off.

    I’ve got several CDs of old line dance music that I’ll bring with me to this Sat’s gathering. If both of you are going to be there, you can look thru to see any suitable ones for compilation. Otherwise, we’ll make do with whatever Jeffrey has.

    Bear in mind, this is a social dance nite organised by a social dance teacher. Too many line dance music may not go well with the rest of the patrons who are mainly social dance students & fans.

    I will be there also around 6.30pm due to peak hour traffic.

Besides the 4 dances Jeffrey mentioned, would like to suggest stress free linedances like Shy Waltz, Bicycle Waltz, Waltz Across Texas, Pizzirico, Mickey, Go Go Stomp, Silver Thread, Wherever You May Wander, 1000 Years, Summernite Cha2, Cherokee Boogie, Marimba, Ghost Train etc. Bdway do you have songs for dances Hit The Floor & Don’t Cha? Anyway like what Lily said it’s social dance nite so I’m sure will not have much time allocated for Ldance. I will also bring some Ldance CDs dat nite.

    Lina, don’t know whether Michael know about the overwhelming response but Henry is aware of the numbers. He said very good leh, that nite hor, all the powerful Silver hairs will blink blink on the dance floor, no need spot light and he intend to turn the lighting dimmer.

    For your convenience, here’s the direction to Paya Lebar Kovan CC.
    1) MRT – NEL Line, alight at Kovan station, exit signboard showed “Heartland Mall” not Kovan Melody. After you exit out of the station, you walk straight, don’t turn left or right hor, just straight ahead and you will come across MacDonald fastfood restaurant. The CC is just opposite MacDonald.

    2) Bus – I don’t know what numbers ???

    3) Car – If you want free parking, enter by Charlton Park along upper serangoon road. Inside the private estate, park along aroozoo avenue. Or else there are ample parking lots opposite the CC, beside MacDonald.

  77. Congrats, ANee. for this overwhelming turn-out which deserves a grand celebration.

    Will get a lion danz troupe to perform outside the dancing hall. For those tired of line dancing, they camn step out to join me and my troupe. As there’ll be more animals than lions out there, those have had enougfh of line danz & lion danz can team up with the tigers for a show or with the monkeys for some bananas and learn how dogs do the doggy, from the frogs, the froggy and from the chimpanzees, how to scale the chimney.
