An Enchanting Evening at Boat Quay – Saturday 5 December, 2009

Dear folks,

Shall we have an evening of fine dining, wine and karaoke by the Singapore River? It is that time of the year when the festive spirit is in the air and it is a good opportunity to meet new and ‘young’ friends!

The karaoke room is available to us free of charge from 6.00pm and it comes with an overhead projector. We are free to bring our own CDs.

Enjoy a different experience having your meals served on a hot stone!

  12. Dan, two coincidence make for a prophesy. The last you hold a gathering and flea mart on 31st Oct (Sat), I had an emcee
    engagement with S’pore Action for the Elders (SAGE), but luckily I finished at 4 pm and attended the flea mart without signing in and managed to buy some items.

    This time round your hot stone evening at Boat Quay, I really got to give a miss. 5th Nov (Sat), attending a very old friend’s son’s wedding dinner at 7.30pm. (InterContinental Hotel)

    My good sister SueChan reminded me. But sorry, my old friend, another time. I love hot-stone dinner once a while seeing the sea-food transformed from raw to cook on the stone and the sotong tenacles curling by the heat in the process. It is like ‘Performing Art’ in fine dinning hahaha!

    Last but not least, man/woman becomes what s/he eats. “The grosser the food the grosser the body. Hence, to length thy life, lessen thy meals.” Meaning, to eat with discretion.

    Have a good hot stone nite DanJoy and all present. Actually I prefer a $28/- hot stone than a wedding dinner, hahahaa!

    The price of $28 per pax is very reasonable as just a bowl of soup already costs $6.50 and here we have dessert and tea or coffee on top of our main course. A glass of house wine costs $10.50. So it is better that we bring our own wine or liquor.

    Long day for me, so would like to express a big Thank You (and some muah, muah, xxx)(No worries, I test negative) before the day is over.

    Enjoyed my ribeye even tho’ had to marinate and ‘cook’ it myself.

    Sorry for our disappearance, we had actually wanted to see the river downstairs, but got waylaid by Mr Kee for a tipple and some. After which we proceeded to perambulate along the river. We ended in Clark Quay, were unsuccessful in going to Shanghai Dollies and proceeded back. By the time we reach Sizzling Rock, Mr Kee said only Terence was around, so lacking in other female company, we left without saying our usual courtesy to the ever gracious host.

    Look forward to your next dinner session.

    Thanks so much for organising the lovely evening of good food and company. Yum yum, really enjoyed my ribeye steak in the open space by the river and soaking in the atmostphere. As I was out of touch for sometime, it was great to rekindle with members that I have met before and making friends with the new ones.

    Thanks Dan and Terence for the wine and drinks. Got a hangover the next day though as I kept losing at the game of 5-10-15. Will be tip top at the game by Carabet night.

    A Note of Thanks for having organised a sumptuous dinner, good wine & music on an enchanting evening with great fellowship! Glad to have met some new members of whom I’ve not met before at monthly gatherings, and a good chat with existing members, exchanging tips with regard to our impending Niteclub event. A sizeable crowd with different topics of conversation that led mine to a fruitful one, as I’d shortlist 2 more ladies who’ve shown interest in joining the ‘Mummysan’ as her hostesses. Will only be able to register their names in the respective forum if they revert to me before the closing date (15/12).

    An ending Note of Thanks to Terence for your kind gesture in sharing with the few of us a bottle of Australian Merlot wine before we reluctantly left the restaurant @ 11.24pm. Let’s continue with that Chinese ‘5-10-15-all’ game during the Niteclub event, and have a few bottles of wine/liquor on standby…
