Lawrence Foong – Profile

Hi all members,

Just joined about a week ago. I am 53 yrs old, still working full time, have one son studying in Perth and one daughter studying in Poly. Have been very much preocucupied with work, and not much time spend on leisure.

I hope to get out and about more and get to meet more people. I play a bit of golf (mainly at driving range), table tennis (rusty already). Looking forward to join some of the activities and attending the next monthly gathering. Cheers!

  1. Hi Lawrence,

Welcome to the SilverHairsClub. Spotted something interesting in your post. You have a son in Perth and you are keen in golf.

Golf, keep practising, and put your name in the Golf Kakis list.

On Perth, some SilverHairs are keen to go to Perth. I guess you like it there too. I too luv Perth, as I see it as a great retirement city.

    Welcome again.

  2. Hi Lawrence,

I reside near Curtin University in Perth. Next time you come over to visit your son, please drop in for a cuppa.

Sep to Nov is a good time to venture north of Perth for an unforgettable 1-2 day self-drive trail to see the carpets of brilliant wildflowers – more than 820 species including many plants found nowhere else in the world.

  3. Hi Lawrence,

Keen on table tennis and golf, should be able to find lot of kakis.

How about badminton, we have session twice a week. Check us out at the badminton column.

  4. Hi Lawrence, welcome. Since u said u are so preoccupied with work I shall not tempt u to join the Colmar/KL trip in Nov ;-)))) Lately I hve been tempting new members to join the trip :-)) U see, I am first time orgainiser, so getting overly excited.

Btw, there’s quite a few Junes in the club.
I am JuneLim aka JuneChan aka Lim-Chan June aka Lim-Chan Liu Yea (that’s 6 mths in mandarin)…:-))))

  5. Sorry for late response. Terence, thanks for your recommendation. I will certainly put my name in the Golf Kaki list although I have not been to the Green for a number of years now. As for Perth, I have been there only once, on company’s so call off-site meeting. Yes, it is a good place for retirement. No plan to visit near term, but most likely when my son’s finishes his studies in about one and half yrs time. Mary, thanks for your kind offer for a cuppa. Will keep this in mind.
Dan, sorry, badminton not my sport, can plan a little but…..tough.
Andrew & Rene, is there an interest group I can join?
And lastly, June Lim, keep up the hard work, I am sure everything will be fine. You are right, I am rather busy, away in Ningbo, China next week, and KL & Penang the following week.
Hope to meet all of you soon.

  6. Hi Lawrence,

    How are you?

I used to play Golf at the OCC or Bishan Driving range once a week. Where do you play golf now? Do let me know if you are looking for a Golf Kaki, I look forward to play with you a game or more, Cheers!
